Regina, dressed in her usual over-the-top outfit, stood nearby, her face tight with worry as she watched her husband anxiously.
The servants were huddled in the corners, heads down, too scared to make a sound.
Zoe didn't dare approach either. She quietly turned to the housekeeper, Mia Grayson, who was standing nearby. "Mia, what's going on? Why is Mr. Kennedy so pissed?"
Mia, her voice low with concern, whispered back, "I heard that this morning at eight, the legal team from Vission Group showed up at the Kennedy Group's office with a termination contract. They officially revoked the Kennedy Group's exclusive management rights for West End. And that's not all—they're cutting all ties with the Kennedy Group. No more business with them, period."
Vission Group usually operated under the radar, and while most people might not grasp the full weight of that name, Zoe and Andrew knew all too well. Their time in high society had made sure of that.
Zoe was stunned. "Vission Group has been working with the Kennedy Group since they first entered the Kitmore City market. Six years of smooth sailing, and now, out of nowhere, they revoke our exclusive rights? Why?" she asked, her voice shaking.
The Kennedy family's success was built on their partnership with Vission Group. Losing them meant losing a critical revenue stream—and with it, their place in the business world.
Zoe's anxiety spiked. She had banked everything on marrying Andrew and becoming a part of the Kennedy family.
Andrew frowned deeply. "There's still a month left on the contract with Vission. Even if they were going to end things, why not just wait until the deal expired?"
Mia shook her head, uncertainty lacing her voice. "I'm not sure. I overheard that Vission has been unhappy with the Kennedys for a while now..." She trailed off, realizing she might have said too much.
Zoe and Andrew exchanged a look, the gravity of the situation settling in. The lack of a warm reception was now the least of their worries as they stood there, waiting in silence.
Isaac let out a strangled cry as he listened to whoever was on the other end of the line. His legs buckled, and he nearly collapsed, barely catching himself on the edge of the sofa. He slumped down, narrowly avoiding a full fall to the floor.
"It's... it's over?" Isaac's voice quivered, his fear and anxiety overtaking his earlier anger.
"How could none of you convince them? Do you even want to work here..." His voice cracked, unable to complete the thought.
"What happened?" Regina asked, sitting beside him and gripping his arm tightly.
Isaac's eyes were hollow as he spoke with despair. "Vission Group has officially terminated their contract with us. They paid the penalty and walked away," he said. "Our partnership with them is over!"
Regina felt as if she'd been struck by lightning, her mind blank. "But we have a contract with Vission. The partnership isn't even over yet. How can they break it?"
Isaac looked utterly defeated, as if mourning a great loss. "The contract allows either party to terminate the agreement at any time, provided they compensate the other side for any losses. Vission invoked that clause..."
Before he could finish, Micah Barnes, who had been frantically scrolling through his tablet, suddenly went pale. "Mr. Kennedy, our stock has plummeted to its limit!
"People are dumping their shares, and our partners and clients are asking about what happened between us and Vission Group. What should I tell them?"
"Didn't I tell you to keep this under wraps?" Isaac bellowed, grabbing a teacup and hurling it across the room. "I spent a fortune setting up my own PR company, and they still let this news leak?"
"I have no clue about this," Micah replied, shrinking back in fear. "We've been throwing money at it, trying to bury the trending searches and delete posts, but we can't keep up with how fast new ones are being posted..."
