Jaden thought for a moment before speaking. "I think Zilvia's high IQ might be the reason. From the day she was born, she rarely cried or laughed.
"As a baby, she would just stare at the world with those big, dark, beautiful eyes, like she was studying everything around her."
He smiled softly and continued, "If I had to put it in today's terms, she was so smart that she seemed out of place in the world."
Athena chuckled, thinking that her grandmother had once said the same thing about her.
But now, back with the Donovan family, she felt like she was starting to fit in a little better.
Jaden, sensing what Athena wanted to know, added, "She wasn't really into the toys, snacks, or games that most kids love. She'd try them once or twice, figure them out, and then move on to something more challenging."
"She was all about puzzles and challenging games, like riddles, advanced Rubik's cubes, complex jigsaw puzzles, and brain teasers. She preferred educational shows and liked watching detective films.
"She wasn't fond of playing with kids her age. Maybe she found them a bit boring, but since she was too small for the games meant for older kids or adults, she mostly played alone.
"She didn't share her thoughts much, but I wouldn't call her antisocial. I think she was just quietly observing and thinking about the world," Jaden said, giving all the details he could.
Athena felt like Jaden was describing her childhood. She had been very much the same way growing up.
Zilvia, her twin, was so similar to her in these ways.
She asked, "Who usually took care of Zilvia? It must have been Grandma and Grandpa, right?"
Jaden replied, "Actually, it was just one person taking care of her from the start. They had a close bond."
Athena was surprised, "Is it Mom's sister, Maria's mother, Catherine?"
"Yes," Jaden confirmed. "After Mom gave birth to you and Zilvia, her health was already weak. Losing a child in the fire left her bedridden, and it took her over a year to recover.
"Once she was better, she was busy working to support the family and couldn't take care of Zilvia."
"So, Catherine took on that role. Even when Zilvia was in kindergarten, Catherine was the one handling drop-offs and pick-ups.
"You could say Catherine treated Zilvia like her own child," Jaden said honestly.
Athena found this a bit odd. Catherine seemed almost neglectful of her own daughter but was so devoted to Zilvia.
She pushed this question aside for now and asked, "What kind of kindergarten did Zilvia go to? How was her experience there? Or rather, how was her social life?"
Jaden answered, "The family thinks a child's health and happiness are the most important things and doesn't push them to achieve extraordinary success. So, they didn't send Zilvia to kindergarten until she was three years old.
"Given how much they valued Zilvia and how bright she was, they chose to send her to Rose Academy's kindergarten, even though it was a bit of a drive and had high standards."
Athena thought about the steep tuition at Rose Academy, and considering the Donovan family was only upper-middle class at the time, it showed how much they cared about Zilvia.
As for her childhood, she had attended Graham Academy's kindergarten, which was known as one of the top two elite schools in Kitmore City, alongside Rose Academy. The Kennedy family had rented a house nearby for her and her grandmother, making it easier for her to go to kindergarten.
