The monitor had a pained yet hopeful expression. "I asked the teachers, and they hinted that we have a beautiful girl in our class, so it should be fine."
The other classmates chimed in, looking pitiful, "You know we're in engineering. We're not good at performances. We have to rely on you.
"If we go up instead, we'll embarrass our class and major."
Athena, feeling multi-talented but often absent from class, decided it was time to contribute. "How about I play the piano?"
The monitor beamed, "Great! I'll sign you up. What piece will you play?"
Athena smiled slightly, "Song from Heavens.'"
Someone mentioned, "I heard Joy is also signing up, and she's playing the piano too. Didn't the campus network say she won a piano competition? Shouldn't you consider a different performance?"
The group nodded, encouraging Athena to switch, worried about being compared to Joy.
Recently, everyone had been comparing Joy and Athena on looks, grades, background, and popularity.
Yet, for now, there was no competition, and things were relatively peaceful.
However, it was easy to imagine that when they eventually participated in the same contest or event, it could spark a fierce rivalry.
Athena smiled, "It's fine. She plays her piece, and I'll play mine. Regardless of who plays better, it's not a big deal."
Her classmates all gave her thumbs up. "Your mindset is great!"
Athena smiled again, choosing not to discuss Joy.
Not long after her performance was registered, the news reached Louis, who promptly informed Matthew.
Matthew, lying in a hospital bed, shifted his gaze from the computer screen to Louis. "Get me a ticket for the celebration, near the front but discreet. I want to go quietly. I just need Miss Donovan to see me."
He had just returned home and was now in his private hospital room.
Though he felt his injury wasn't severe and didn't require rest, Athena had said she would only see him when he was better, so he didn't dare neglect his recovery.
Louis adjusted his glasses. "Understood."
Matthew paused for a couple of seconds before continuing, "Inform Doyle Law Firm to immediately assign all their top talent to investigate Anabel. The more detailed, the better, but make sure not to alert the Powell family. I want to know everything about her, especially her relationships. That includes the people she's close to, the ones she values, dislikes, has bullied, or offended, whether they're big players or small."
Louis replied, "Yes."
Matthew said, "What's most important is her romantic relationships. I need to know which men she's had a crush on, who she's dated, what type of men she likes, and who she's slept with. Make sure it's thorough."
Ever since the Graham and Powell families hinted at a potential alliance, he had secretly tasked people to investigate Anabel for weaknesses or leverage.
However, that initial investigation had been far from sufficient.
He needed to quickly find evidence or secrets to restrain Anabel and prevent the Powell family from continuing to pressure her into marriage.
Louis adjusted his glasses, smiling appreciatively. "I understand, Miss Donovan saved you again, and you're eager to repay her."
Matthew twitched his lips, his eyes filled with menace. "Get lost! Don't show up in front of me in the next three days."
