Athena unlocked her phone and went online to search for the list of crew members of Quirky Steve's new work, Boundary Strike.
She saw several familiar names on the list. Kevin Cohen, who was one of the assistant directors, was in her iMessage contacts.
She thought, 'He's the one!'
Athena posted a photo of Zayn hitting a punching bag on Facebook. The accompanying caption was "A true tough soldier, still training every day after retiring from the army", and it was set so that only Kevin could see it.
When she returned to the villa at night, she still had not heard from Kevin.
She then posted a video of Zayn hitting a punching bag on Facebook with the caption "Looks even cooler and more photogenic in motion, but it's a shame he's not in movies." She also set it so that only Kevin could see it.
Upon posting it, she went to wash up.
After washing up and returning to her room, she received a message from Kevin. [Samira, the photo of the veteran you posted on Facebook looks great. The film I'm working on is lacking an action actor. I'd like to know more about him and invite him for an audition.]
Athena replied: [He's a real veteran and has received a Hero's Medal. I've only known him for a few days, so I'm not sure if he's interested in acting. Are you serious about that?]
Kevin: [I'm very serious. I've already shown Mr. Levine the photo and video. He thinks we can give it a try.]
Athena: [I'll ask him. If he's willing to consider it, I'll give you his number.]
Kevin: [Thank you, Samira. We're very pressed for time. so I appreciate it if you could ask him as soon as possible.]
Athena: [Is it that urgent? How long will the shoot be, and what are the pay rates like?]
Zayn seemed to be resting for the past few days.
But Athena noticed that he had been browsing through various job listings, start-up loans, how to register a company, and so on. There were even a few times when he calculated on his phone, probably researching how much it would cost to start a company.
She could tell that Zayn would definitely not be willing to be an ordinary driver or security guard. He did not want to be subordinate to others either. She was certain that he wanted to achieve something significant.
'So Zayn definitely needs money, but he doesn't want to ask the family for it,' she thought. 'This is an opportunity.'
Kevin: [If the actor doesn't need to undergo military or fight training and can enter the cast immediately, the quickest the shoot will take is a month, and the longest is two months. As acting in this movie is indeed tough, the pay should be no less than 100 thousand dollars. If he performs well, we can negotiate further.]
Athena: [Okay. I'll go see him and ask him what he thinks.]
Zayn was really a training maniac. His self-discipline was terrifying.
At nine o'clock in the evening, Josie was watching television in the main lobby. He was doing planks in the small living room on the second floor. His posture was so standard that he looked like a four-legged bench, and he did not move at all.
Hearing footsteps coming up the stairs, Zayn opened his eyes and said, "Athena, you're here."
"Good evening, Zayn," Athena said. She then walked up to him, clasped her hands behind her back, and asked him about the acting.
"Zayn, I know a director who's filming a military action movie and needs an action actor who can fight, endure hardships, and use firearms proficiently. The filming will take one to two months. Are you interested?"
Zayn shook his head. "People should focus on their expertise to achieve true success. I haven't learned acting, so I won't go and ruin the audience's experience."
Athena said, "This role doesn't have much screen time. It's only about ten minutes. It's fighting and a gunfight throughout. You can just play yourself."
Zayn still shook his head. "This job is too specialized. I don't have the confidence to do it well."
Athena dropped her trump card. "The pay won't be less than 100 thousand dollars, and there's room for negotiation."
Zayn looked up. "Before tax or after tax?"
Athena said, "I didn't ask, but acting in this movie is very tough, and the movie is a big production. They probably won't be stingy enough to offer pre-tax pay."
"If it's after tax, I can consider it." Zayn slightly bent at the waist, flexed his legs forward, and then sprang up like a spring to stand straight.
"How do I contact that assistant director?"
The benefits of soldiers were good, but the income was not high.
Earning 100 thousand dollars in just two months was quite appealing to him.
Athena opened her chat with Kevin and typed a line of words. [He's willing to consider. I'll give you his phone number. You can talk to him.]
Before sending it, she showed the conversation to Zayn. "Is this okay?"
Zayn finished reading her conversation with Kevin in just a few glances. He then cast a slightly surprised glance at her. Not asking about "Samira", he just nodded.
Athena sent Zayn's phone number to Kevin.
Kevin: [Thank you, Samira. I'll contact him now... May I know his last name?]
Athena: [Donovan.]
Right after that, Zayn's phone rang.
The siblings looked at each other, thinking, 'That's quick.'
It was very much in line with their style.
