At ten o'clock at night, Athena received an unexpected call.
Joy called her and said politely, "I love the novel 'Lockwood's Detective Diary'. I want to play the role of Lockwood, and I believe I can play this character well. I'd like to ask if you could sell me the film rights to the novel. Of course, you name the price, and I won't negotiate."
Athena shook her head and said, "You're a step too late. I've already confirmed the cast."
Joy was surprised. "Can you tell me who you've decided to cast as Lockwood?"
Athena did not hide it. "It's Luna. I had a serious discussion with her. Her love and understanding of the character earned my approval, and I believe she can play Lockwood well."
After a few seconds of silence, Joy said objectively, "Luna is indeed an outstanding actress. I admire her professionalism and acting skills too. But don't you think she's a bit too old to play Lockwood?"
Athena did not let her emotions affect her decision. She told her in a serious tone, "I've thought about this issue seriously as well. Luna is twenty-nine this year, but she takes good care of herself. She's been in great shape lately. There's likely no issue with her playing a university student who's ten years younger."
"With the current makeup and filming techniques, it's not unreasonable for an actress to play a character ten years younger. But I'm the same age as the character and also a university student. I hope you will give me a chance to compete with Luna to see who is a better fit."
"You're not suited for this role." Athena shook her head. "You've lived overseas for a long time. The environment you grew up in is too different from Lockwood's. You lack that pure and wild quality that she has from growing up locally."
"If you don't let me try, how would you know I can't portray those qualities?"
"No, I know you can act," Athena said. "I just prefer the style of Lockwood that Luna brings."
Joy took a deep breath. "You haven't signed a contract with Luna yet, right? I'll send you some clips of my performance. If you think I act well after watching them, I hope you can give me a chance."
Athena smiled. "Alright."
After ending the call, Joy suddenly thought of a question while sending Athena clips from her starring films.
She thought, 'Why wasn't Athena surprised at all when she knew I wanted to play Lockwood? How come she even thought I could act well? Her normal reaction should have been to ask, "You're a history major, so how come you suddenly want to act in a TV series?" Could it be that Athena has long learned that I've acted in films?'
At this point, her expression darkened, and her eyes glinted.
She wondered how much Athena knew about her.
She hoped Athena was smart enough to know what could be done and what couldn't.
After receiving the film clips sent by Joy, Athena immediately deleted them without leaving a trace.
Then, something occurred to her. She walked out of the annex to the main building to see Zayn.
At this point, Zayn was wearing a tank top and shorts as usual, doing plank exercises in the backyard. His body was as straight as a line, perfectly parallel to the ground.
When he saw Athena, he did not move. He merely smiled gently and said, "Athena, still not going to bed yet, huh?"
