Lindsay politely replied, "I'd like to have some fresh fruits; do you have any?"
"Sure, please wait a moment," Arthur said, running into the kitchen. Soon, he returned with a fruit platter, "These are fresh fruits I cut this morning. See if you like them."
Lindsay picked up a strawberry, took a bite, and frowned slightly before throwing the rest into the trash bag. "It's too cold. My teeth can't take it. Do you have something warm?"
Arthur was taken aback for a moment, then said, "I can warm up the fruits with hot water." He then brought the platter into the kitchen.
A few moments later, he returned and placed the fruit platter in front of Lindsay. "I tasted it myself; it's not as cold now."
"Thank you." Lindsay politely said, picking up a piece of cantaloupe and putting it in her mouth, then shaking her head. "It's still too cold. And after soaking it in hot water, the taste isn't as good. Don't you have any fruit that's good to eat in your house?"
Arthur thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers. "I know what to do now. I'll cut up some new fruits and make warm fruit juice for you, how about that?"
Lindsay smiled and said, "Sure, thank you." Arthur ran back to the kitchen again
While he was preparing the fruit juice, Maria and the others had already nicely arranged the thermos and food containers from the food boxes. They also brought some clean plates, forks, and spoons.
There were seven dishes and one soup, along with mashed potatoes, all steaming as they had just been prepared.
Alaric and others called out to Lindsay, "Lindsay, let's eat now."
Lindsay smiled, "I have a long journey today and I'd like to have some fruits to refresh myself first."
There were no formalities in the Donovan family and Alaric did not treat her like an outsider. He immediately said, "I played basketball in the neighborhood for over an hour and I'm starving now. I'll eat first."
He picked up a plate and took the dishes he wanted to eat, then grabbed his plate and started eating with the food on it.
Maria said, "I'm not that hungry. I'll eat with Lindsay later."
A couple of minutes later, Arthur came in bringing a large glass of fruit juice, looking quite smug. "This time it should be fine. You can try it."
"Thank you." Lindsay took the glass, glanced at it, then frowned. "Did you wear gloves when you cut the fruits? You didn't cut it directly with your hands, did you?"
Arthur was stunned for a moment. "I didn't wear gloves, but my hands were clean. I washed them before cutting the fruits."
"Thud!" Lindsay slammed the glass on the coffee table and said angrily, "This is how you treat me as a guest on my first visit to your house?"
Everyone was stunned, and the lively atmosphere suddenly became tense. 'What's wrong with her?' puzzled everyone.
Lindsay coldly said, "This is my first time visiting your house, but none of the elders showed up, and you served me takeout. Is this courteous?
"The fruits you served me are cold, and you touched them directly with your hands when cutting them. Is that hygienic?
"And when you eat, you just take care of yourselves without helping the guest with the food or waiting for the guest to eat together. What is this? Do you look down on me?"
Everyone showed expressions of surprise and confusion. 'Is Lindsay... deliberately making things difficult for Arthur and putting them on the spot?' They were confused.
