Furious, Shirley thought, 'Cami. It's always Cami. This isn't the first time I've heard Noel call her name when he's drunk. He used to have eyes only for me, but now all he can think about is her. I can't let this go on.'
Gritting her teeth, she forced a smile and gently tried to wake him. "Noey, you've got the wrong person. I'm not Cami. It's me, Shelly."
"Shelly," Noel mumbled. The haze from the alcohol began to lift, and when he finally recognized her, he froze for a second before letting go of her slowly. "What are you doing here?"
Her gaze softened with affection as she stared at him, her voice laced with concern. "Luke told me you got drunk. I was worried so I came here to check on you."
"Sorry to make you worry. You're pregnant, and I made you come all this way," he muttered, leaning back into the couch and rubbing his temples, clearly nursing a headache.
That vodka had really hit hard. Even with his usual tolerance, it was getting to him.
"It's nothing." Shirley waved it off. "As long as you're okay, it's worth the trip."
Noel didn't respond. But seeing how Shirley looked at him—like he was the only thing that mattered—pulled his mind straight back to the exact same way Camila used to look at him.
Then he remembered the cold look she gave him today, and the frustration he'd just managed to bury surged right back to the surface. "I'll have Tyrell take you home," he said flatly. "The whole place reeks of booze. It's not good for the baby."
"I don't want to leave yet. I just want to stay with you a little longer," Shirley said softly, leaning in closer.
She knelt up on the couch, reaching out to gently press her fingers to his temples, massaging in slow, soothing circles. "You always get headaches when you drink. You really should cut back. Let me give you a little massage."
Noel thought about turning her down, but the moment her touch started to ease the pain, he froze and gave in. He stayed leaned against her, letting her massage his temples.
As she continued, they slowly got closer. Their bodies brushed through the thin layers of clothing, and the atmosphere shifted into something subtle and unspoken.
Noel slowly opened his eyes. Shirley's lashes fluttered faintly as she looked down at him, her gaze soft and full of affection. She leaned in slowly.
Before Noel could react, her lips brushed gently against his in a light, feather-soft kiss that caught him completely off guard. He froze.
It was only then that Shirley seemed to realize what she had done. She jerked back in a panic and blurted out, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that. I just couldn't help it—"
But before she could finish, Noel suddenly took control. He grabbed her waist, pulled her straight into his arms, and kissed her hard.
Just then, Luke came back from the bathroom and stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of this. He blinked, then his eyes flicked, and he quickly pulled out his phone and snapped a photo.
When Camila came out of the shower, she heard her phone ding.
She picked it up and saw a new message from Luke. Without thinking, she tapped into it and saw the photo of Noel and Shirley kissing and holding each other like lovers.
Camila's chest tightened up. Her fingers nearly slipped, the phone almost falling from her hand. She'd thought she was over it and she felt nothing anymore. But in that moment, her heart still hurt when she saw this photo.
She clenched her fingers tighter and was about to close the chat when another message popped up from Luke: [This is real love. You were just a fling. If you have any self-respect left, stop chasing him.]
