Emily's pov
" You wouldn't believe this," Shawn burst into the room without knocking on the door first. I closed my eyes in humiliation as I scramble off the desk to block my nakedness from him while Bryson grunted in annoyance at being disturbed.
A few seconds ago he had me bent over the desk, ramming into me like the beast he was. Until our best friend decided to interrupt our little, I mean huge activities.
Shawn is quick to twist around, blocking his eyes with his palms. " Jesus, do you guys ever stop?"
" Do you ever knock?" Bryson hissed, throwing me his shirt so I can hastily put it over my shoulders since he had torn my dress into pieces.
" Well I wasn't really thinking about it since the news I have required you two to know right away," Shawn snapped.
Bryson, tugs the ends of his shirt on me, smiles at me and reaches to comb his fingers through my hair to fix the wild strands from shooting everywhere. Which was his fault since they were wrapped around his fist only second ago.
" You can turn around now and tell us why this news couldn't wait," There's a bit of irritation in Bryson's voice but I know it was only because Shawn had disturbed us and he was enjoying himself, well we both were.
Shawn whirls around, looking sheepish. " Sorry about the disturbing, you two can get on with it after I leave-
"Just spill Shawn." Bryson cuts in with a puff of air. It was clear he wanted Shawn to hurry up so he can continue where we left off. The thought is amusing, but knowing I was the cause of making him this desperate makes me grin with pride.
Shawn snorted. " Guess someone is impatient," a warning glare from Bryce had him lifted up his hands in surrender. " Fine, I'll hurry up. Might want to sit for this one."
Curious, I looked at him and studied. Shawn posture was a bit tense, and sure he had just teased Bryson awhile ago, but every bit of playfulness he had on earlier is swept into a void of slight panic. Its what makes my heart skip because I know something is wrong.
I approach him. " Shawn what is it? Is it Lucy? Did something happen to one of the twins?"
He shook his head quickly. " No. She's okay, they're okay. It's not her Em, it's something bigger and I am not sure what the hell we're going to do. "
" What is it Shawn?" Bryson growled behind me impatiently, both of us perched and on edge to hear whatever news he had to give us.
He sighed, running a hand through his unruly hair. "It's Sirus."
I swore my heart leapt in my throat. I killed that bastard two years ago, why is his name brought up now? I burned him too, there was no way he'd ever magically come back from the dead.
" What about him?" I breathed out, a bit frightened.
Shawn's eyes flashed oddly, as if unsure if he wanted to pass this information to me or not. " Shawn," I urged, my heart pounding. Had we missed something? It's been two years.
" He has a daughter." Shawn blurted out, causing me to rile back in shock. What the fuck is he on about? The last time I checked, Sirus didn't have a mate, or daughter.
" That can't be," I whispered and Bryson stepped behind me, his arm circling around my waist to hold me protectively.
Shawn shook his head. " I am afraid I am not joking or lying Em. And I can confirm it too. She lives in another state with her human guardian. Apparently her mom was also human and Sirus forced her. Not wanting to look after the child, she leaves the baby on her sisters doorstep and bails."
My heart aches. " Forced her?"
Shawn cursed low. " Asshole kept her there as a lab rat to experiment. There's a rumor that he experimented with impregnating her with vampire blood because he wanted the baby to be born a hybrid."
I let out a shocked exhale. " Hell," Bryson gripped me tighter, as if his hold will protect me from the horror I am listening to.
Shawn nodded. " All this information has been brought to me by Sinco," his brows furrowed. " Apparantly he heard from an ex council member who left before all this turned into a shit show what had happened. He's not sure the kid is actually Sirus's kid, but he tracked the guardian and child down with the help of another shifter and confirm that the woman looking after the child is not her biological mother. "
Sinco was a rogue wolf who was our aquantaince. He was a good help in tracking down others. He wasn't rogue because he had done something bad, he chose to live his life freely just like we had.
However, lately, the packs have been getting a bit out of hand and Bryson and I are thinking of building another pack. This time, differently where all kinds of shifters are welcomed. I am here to change the world like the moon goddess told me I'd do.
Making sure everyone was on the same page was the only way. If I can stop this war between shifters, that would benefit everyone. We didn't have to fight amongst ourselves, we didn't need war.
" Since we are not sure if she's actually Sirus's daughter, maybe we should track down her biological mother and ask her. This child, if what the rumor is true about Sirus aiming to make her hybrid from birth, the child needs to be watch closely. A hybrid only lives for five years and-
" The kid is Raiden's age." Shawn cuts in, sounding just as in disbelief as me. " And the mother is like a damn ghost, even Sinco is having a hard time in tracking her down."
" That's not possible." Bryson said behind me. " If she's Raiden's age. She should have been dead a long time ago. Unless, she's really fully human."
I bit my lower lip. Something in my spirit stirs. I didn't like this. It feels as if we're inching closer to something big that can destroy us all.
" We need to keep an eye on her. Make sure she's not a hybrid. She can be half werewolf since Sirus is a shifter."
Shawn nods in agreement. " We will have Sinco on it. He and his brother Giovanni I am sure will not have a problem with this."
Giovanni was Sinco's younger brother who was a doctor. However, his free time he spends helping his brother track down wolves we need to find.
The door suddenly opens and tiny heads peek in, a little bunny in her hand. My heart leaps in worry, hoping she had not walked all the way here on her own. Thankfully when the door opens wider, her older brother Raiden is right behind her.
" Rayne wants some cookies," Raiden grinned sheepishly, knowing he had interrupted something important. I fight off my smile knowing that Rayne wasn't the one who wanted the cookies but him.
