" Some crazy shit went down," Shawn bursted into the room. Usually Shawn had shitty times to interrupt us, but Bryson isn't here, he's training with our son Raiden who's time is ticking to get the alpha title pass down to him when he is ready.
Sinco and Giovanni are following closely behind Shawn, the looks on their face making me sit on edge.
Bryson and I did end up returning to the pack life to make things easier and keep others in check. Sinco was our Gamma and his brother Giovanni was now our pack doctor. Things are different now, our pack had aimed to be the first to allow all shifters to join.
I will admit, it's been tough to get everyone on board, but it's not half as bad as it had been a few years back. We're still working on living with different kind of shifters, but I am sure someday, somehow we will achieve this.
" What's wrong?" I demanded, putting down the paper I had been signing. It was a treaty between our pack and another.
" The child. Amelia. She-
Shawn started and looked panicked.
Seeing his struggle Sinco finished. " Her Guardian is dead. And we think she did it."
I rise to my feet, my eyes wide and my brows shooting to my hairline. " What?!"
Amelia was the name of the little girl Sirus had allegedly forced into the womb of a human woman. The last time I got information about her, she was doing well in high school and seemed normal. A human. No signs of being a shifter or hybrid. That was a few days ago.
Sirus nods. " The guardian was found in her tub, filled with water, her body full of cuts. I don't think she did it to herself. It looks like a suicide but I don't know Alpha, why would she kill herself when she loves that girl and wouldn't leave her?"
I closed my eyes, my heart aching for Amelia and her guardian. " She doesn't have anyone else. They'll put her in the foster system and we can't risk that. If she turns out a late bloomer, a shifter, we are just handing her to the sharks. She would be safer here with us, and we can try to figure out if it was her who did it. That way we know what we're dealing with and we can help her."
Shawn nods in agreement. " Agreed. But how will we get her here? She won't trust strangers."
" But she'll trust her dad." I murmured, my brows crinkling in thought.
" Sorry to burst your bubble Em, but Sirus is dead, ashes dead." Shawn pointed out.
I rolled my eyes. " I know that. But she doesn't. Her guardian doesn't know who the dad is, the biological mom didn't tell her. As far as she knew, her sister got pregnant by a stranger and left her to take care of the baby, disconnecting any form of contact with her."
We knew this information because, Dianne, who has been Amelia's guardian but makes the girl call her mom, has a close best friend who's a werewolf and was willing to take as much information as we needed from her.
" What are you suggesting Em?" Shawn hummed, looking very intrigued to know my response.
" We need someone to be her 'biological father' step into Sirus's shoes." I replied in one breath, hoping that my idea would benefit us all and I was saving Amelia from the cruel world.
" Not it," Sinco is the first to grunt. " Damon is already enough stress as it is, I can't be someone else dad."
The room is quiet for a bit until Giovanni's voice breaks it. " I'll do it. I don't have a mate or kid. I don't mind filling that role."
