                    Raiden's pov
"You're not in this class Raiden," the teacher pointed out bluntly as I slammed the door open.
I scan around the room, ignoring the teacher. There's still dirty water on the floor which tells me that the altercation had only happened recently.
"The principal needs to speak to Dayna." I gritted out when my eyes land on her at the back of the classroom, touching her red nose. From here it looked bad but since she's a shifter it will heal pretty soon. She'd have to postpone it a bit to make it look natural just in case.
Dayna looks at me in question, yet there's a hesitant look that crosses her eyes.
"Are you certain of this?" The teacher baited, already knowing that I was lying. I looked at him, eyes pinning him with a look I knew would make him submit. "Very well." He uttered, motioning his hand for Dayna to stand up.
"Go to the principal office Dayna."
"Raiden man, don't do any shit funny that will get us in trouble with your mom and dad," Damon mumbled behind me. Both he and Lester had followed after me. Damon looks worried about my anger but Lester is leaning against the wall silently.
Dayna friends murmured something to her as she rose from her chair and made her way over to me. I turn around, mind linking her to follow after me which she did.
When we were a good distance away from the classroom I whip around to face her, startling her as she yelped.
I grab her arm and thrust her against the wall, caging her in as I glared at her furiously. "I'm guessing you're angry with me?" She whispered, squirming and letting out a small squeal when I slam my palm just beside her head.
Her eyes clench tightly, and the racing of her heart reaches my ears. I snarl. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"
"I-I Raiden baby, I don't know what you're talking about." Dayna liked to play the innocent card with me but I was not stupid to fall for it.
"Did I not tell you to leave her?" The words grit out of my teeth, my fingernails biting into her skin.
She winced. "It was just a welcoming gift! Don't we always welcome the new people who come here?" Her voice had gone soft and timid.
"Not in this way," I growled, pushing her back and taking a step backward. She grunted and held her hand, her teary eyes looking up at me and I almost felt guilty. Almost.
"What are you? Her bodyguard! She came here and it's like she has you wrapped around her finger!" Dayna spat, frustrated tears rolling down her cheeks. "You've never treated me this badly before, and you're doing it now because of her."
Dayna looked at Lester and Damon in shame that they were witnessing her crying.
"I am not treating you badly because of her. She's a human, you can't play with them how you please Dayna. What the fuck is wrong with you huh? Are you jealous-
"Yes I am!" She screeched. "Everyone's saying you're following her around like a lost puppy. You can't take your eyes off her! This used to be me not too long ago. You treated me like that. Why her? She's a human, what does she have that I don't have better?"
"A soul!" I lashed out, my chest rising and falling from anger. "A fucking soul Dayna. She has a soul! You don't think about anyone but yourself. You nearly exposed us at the diner! And for what? Just to piss Amelia off?"
Dayna flinched, looking away. " Don't say her name like that."
"Like what?"
Her eyes returned to mine, this time they were filled with frustrated tears. "Like you're already in love with her."
Her words hit me. I don't know where she got the gun from but she triggered and aimed right in my heart. Fuck.
I looked away. "Don't mess with Amelia again," I warned, backing away to walk off. I can't deny her words. I can't lie and say I don't want the little blonde haired human, because I do.
I want her with a fire I didn't know existed. I want her so badly that it hurts. I am not sure why, or how, or know why this is happening.
But all I know is I can't deny it.
I fucking can't.
"You didn't deny it." Dayna's soft words reach my ears and I stopped, my eyes lifting to stare at my two best friends.
Damon is staring at me with a knowing shadow in his eyes while Lester is peering at me blankly. I know what he was thinking. Lester was the quiet type but it wouldn't take a genius to know what he was thinking.
"Raiden," Dayna called out. There's a plea on her tongue for me to turn around. For me to stare into the eyes I admired before. But I can't.
Because if I do. She'd see the truth. Just like everyone around here already seems to piece together. She'd get her confirmation.
"Raiden, look at me while you deny it," Dayna pleaded, approaching me and wrapping her fingers around my arm.
She squeezed.
"Deny it." She begged. "Deny that you don't want her like in this way."
I ripped my arm from her hold, my eyes straight ahead as I saw Giovanni the pack doctor rushing in the building. My brows furrowed. Why was he here? Did a shifter get hurt and I didn't know?
That's impossible, I would've known. Nothing happens here without me knowing. Especially when a shifter is involved.
Dayna took a hold of my arm again when she noticed I was distracted. This time she thrust it between her breasts deliberately.
"Raiden," she whispered. "You-
I tore my arm away from her and ground out over my shoulder as I began to walk away. "Go to class Dayna."
"You didn't deny it!" She screeched behind me.
"What would be the point!" I roared, whipping around to glare at her. She stumbles back, flinching as her eyes widen like a deer caught in headlights. "Go to class Dayna." I ground out each word and now noticing my growing anger she nods.
As she disappears back to the classroom Damon clamped his hand on my shoulder. "She's going to raise hell when she sees that you actually want the human."
That I know and that's what I am scared of. Amelia is a human, she wouldn't be able to handle Dayna's shifter abilities.
