Amelia's pov
By the time I got downstairs and made my way to the dining room, everyone including Raiden and Rayne was seated around the table, no doubt waiting for me.
I gave a sheepish smile, taking a sit by my father who gestured for me to come over. "Sorry, were you all waiting long?"
Emily beams. "No darling."
"She had a detour because she ended up walking in on Raiden half naked." Rayne suddenly utters while picking up her fork and raising her shoulders into a shrug.
I gaped. Raiden coughed. Dad looked at me in surprise and Emily and Bryson stared at me with both shock, before sending their daughter warning gazes.
"I-I kind of forgot the directions you gave and walked into the wrong room." I flushed, spreading my lips into a smile that I knew looked more like a cringe.
Emily gave me a reassuring look that I needed because I could finally breathe again after the weight of having everyone's eyes on me. " It's okay darling, everyone makes mistakes."
Rayne snorts amused. " And I'm sure ugly over here didn't mind seeing how I caught you two."
My eyes widen. Oh My God. I couldn't guess which of the siblings was worse. Raiden or Rayne. With the small little flicker of a smirk on her lips revealed that she was being entertained by the flames she had scattered.
Rayne giggled, sparing me a teasing look and a slight wink. " You should have seen how squirmy Amelia was in his arms. He didn't want to let her go."
" In his arms?" Dad spluttered beside me and I was afraid to look at him to gauge his face.
" Raiden," his dad's stern voice made me shrink as he pinned Raiden down with a hard stare. " Did you make Amelia uncomfortable?"
Raiden is quick to respond. " Of course not!" Switching his gaze to Rayne, he glowered down at her with irritation. " She got pushed into my arms because Rayne here has no manners and opened the door she was leaning against."
Rayne looked at her parents sheepishly and shrugged. " I am guilty of that. And hey don't look at me, I never said they were in a compromising position. Besides, she did go to his room by accident." her eyes snap to mine and she winks.
That little devil kept fanning the flames for her own entertainment. She really is Raiden's sister. Both are little devils with beautiful skin.
" That's enough Rayne." Emily gave her a warning look that made her swallow and nod. Turning her gaze to me, Emily offers me an apologetic smile. " Sorry about Rayne Amelia, she always tries to annoy her brother every chance she gets."
"Did it work?" Rayne eyed her brother with playfulness which he answered with an irritated breath leaving his lips.
Emily lets out a sigh as she stares at her children and shakes her head. "See what I have to deal with daily?" She joked, pointing at the two. "And don't get me started on this one over here." She pointed at her husband who pouted. "They drive me insane."
I giggled and was just about to reply to her when my phone went off with a ping. At first, I figured it wasn't anything serious until it began to buzz and ping.
"You take that darling, it must be important." Emily nodded.
I smiled gratefully and stood up, excusing myself as I walk to the kitchen area and tried my best to ignore Raiden's gaze on my back.
I pull the phone out and see that it was Foster. Growing worried by the number of missed calls, I ring him back. He picks up on the first ring, sounding out of breath.
"Amelia!"
My heart jumps in my throat when I catch the fear and nervousness in his voice. "What's wrong?" I demanded.
"It's Pickett. I need your help."
My throat tightened as fear caused my stomach to knot. With clammy hands, I clutch the phone tighter to my ear and looked back at the entryway to the kitchen.
"What's wrong with her Foster?" I questioned quickly.
"Remember the party Dayna is throwing tonight?" His voice is shaky and uneven. I nod and remember he couldn't see me so I voice out loud. "Yes. What about it?"
"Pickett's there."
The knots in my stomach get more uncomfortable. "Why would she-
"She had no choice," he cuts in quickly. "Dayna ordered some food from the diner to be delivered and they sent out Pickett. They won't let her leave the party Amelia and they don't treat people like us kindly. I'm scared they'll do something to her especially since..."
Clenching my eyes tightly I try to suppress my cry of frustration. I had a feeling Dayna was playing with Pickett because of what I had done today.
"I need your help. I can't go alone and I-
"Give me a few, I'll be there." The fear in my stomach started to feel more like rage now. If Dayna hurt a single hair on Pickett's head, she'll have more than a broken nose to look after.
"Meet me there, I'll find a way," I said quickly and end the call after he agreed.
I looked at the entryway and nervously bit my lip. How will I excuse myself to leave? Would Dad let me leave?
I run a hand through my hair in frustration. I need to come up with an excuse right now. With a nervous breath fluttering out of my lips, I walked back into the diner and shifted on my feet when all eyes were on me.
"Is something the matter Amelia?" Dad asked with his brows knotted into a furrow of worry.
I swallowed. "I well yes. Kind of. I forgot I had this thing with my friend today and we can't reschedule because it has to be done for tomorrow. It's a school thing."
From the corner of my eye, I can see Raiden trying to hold in his laugh. I resisted the urge to turn to him and glare.
"It really can't wait," I begged Dad with eyes to let me leave. Thankfully he nods. "Do you need a ride?"
"No need, I'm heading out to Dayna's party. I'm needed there so I can give Amelia a ride." Raiden stood up, causing me to turn to him.
"Raiden-
His dad started but Smily reached out her hand and squeezed his. "It's okay. Raiden can give her a ride. Well if Amelia agrees that is?"
I looked over at Raiden. It was better he saw where I went than Dad saw it was actually at a party. So I nod and agree.
Raiden smirked. I can't help but think I had fallen into a beast trap.
"Be home before ten tonight Amelia. Not a second later." Dad warned.
I nod. "Of course. I'll be quick."
After saying our goodbyes, I followed after Raiden who opened the front door, moved aside, and gestured his hand for me to walk first. "Ladies first." I rolled my eyes.
"Such a gentleman," I said bluntly.
He chuckled behind me, racing down the steps to catch up to me. "Why didn't you tell me that Giovanni was your dad?"
My brows furrowed as I looked at him over my shoulders. "Because I didn't think it was important to tell you who's my dad Raiden."
He frowned. "Everything that has to do with you is important to me Amelia. I want to know everything about you. Even how far that pretty blush you're now spotting can go. Does it color between your thighs pink too?"
His words made me gasp and I stumbled, but he was quick to reach out and grasp me before I could fall flat on my face. I knew taking him up on the offer to ride with him would be a mistake.
