                    Amelia's pov
His mood change catches me off guard as I spin around to follow after him. He enters a red sports car and doesn't tell me to get in, but I do anyway because he offered me a ride.
I had not secured my seat belt on when he sped off. I let out a shocked squeal like sound from my throat, looking at him in alarm as I finally put the seat belt on.
"What the hell is your problem?!" I yelled as he stepped on the accelerator. I gripped the seat belt, pressing my back against the seat as my heart pounded in my chest.
Raiden doesn't answer me. Not a single word.
This is what I had wanted right? For him to keep shut and leave me alone. Yet, why do I feel disappointed? I kind of miss the talkative Raiden, the one that gets me on my nerves. I do not enjoy the sudden quiet one who is clearly in a trapped corner in his mind.
It doesn't feel like him. It feels like a stranger.
The car sped through the streets, the tired screeching as he drifts while taking a corner. My heart accelerates and my palms grow sweaty. He remained silent, cold and distant and my stomach twisted painfully with unease.
Something was off.
I reached up to touch his arm. "Raiden," I called out his name but he flinches away as if my touch disgusted him while his hand on the steering wheel tightened.
It feels like my voice can't crack over to him. "Raiden," I said softly this time, eyeing the side of his face. He's looking straight ahead, his jaw tight as he clenches it hard. I would not be surprised if his poor teeth throbbed with pain.
Did something happen when he went to retrieve his keys? It must have.
"What the hell is going on?" I snapped, fearing for my life with the speed we were going at.
"Shut up, don't speak to me right now." His words are blunt, cold, and harshly slicing through the air without remorse.
I flinched. It felt like he had brutally slapped me across my face. I frowned, unable to digest that this was the same guy who flirted with me not too long ago.
"Fine," I gritted, trying to ignore the pain in my chest. "Let me down."
I crossed my arms over my chest and looked ahead. Two can play this game. "What?" He ground out, his eyes shooting a hole through my skull for a split second.
"Let me out of the damn car or so help me I'll jump out." I threatened. When he shows no signs of slowing down or stopping, I decided to be more firm. "I'll break the fucking glass if I have to Raiden, and you know I can and will."
I can see the strain of his hands on the steering wheel, the way his veins pulsed as he tightened his hold. For a moment I thought he'd ignore my threat but he surprises me when he pulls up sharply to the side of the road.
The sudden stop made me jerk forward a bit and then my back hit the seat behind me hard. "Get out." He said coldly.
I had not expected it. Not his tone or him actually stopping to let me get down. However, I had too much pride to show him that I am fazed but this. So I opened the door and let the cool air hit me smack against my face as I got out.
Slamming the door hard, I watch him drive off without another word, blowing some fumes from his car into my face. I coughed, stomped my foot childishly and cursed him every word I could come up with.
I knew he was like every other guy out there. They're all the same. I bet this was his plan to humiliate me after I broke his precious girlfriend's nose.
Letting out a frustrated scream and groan, I fished for my phone in my pocket to call Foster or Dad to pick me up. I wasn't that far from my home but I am not going home right now but to Dayna's to help Pickett.
When my fingers slide against fabric and not a phone, I freeze and my heart stops. This cannot be happening right now. I must've forgotten it in his car.
I laughed dryly, but tears pricked in my eyes. Frustration clawed at the corners on my body as I let out a breath.
I had no phone and no money for a cab. Walking was the only option. The street stretched out before me, dark with a little glow from the street lights. Empty and void of any human life in sight.
Alone. That's how I felt.
The same ugly feeling when I walked in on my mother-
I shook my head, biting into my lower lip to stop from crying. I cannot afford to cry right now. With a heavy sigh, I began to walk down the sidewalk while hugging myself.
I can't believe he actually drove off. He fucking drive off.
I shook my head and let out a dry giggle. Raiden was like every other guy out there, how could I have ever thought he was different?
As my mind took me captive while I walk, in the short distance I could hear a bit of rustling from the trees that surrounded me. I hugged myself tighter when I heard the heavy sound of what I thought was paws hitting the earth.
Was Dad wrong about there not having wolves around here? Because what other huge animal can make such a terrifying sound in the woods?
I looked around skeptically, fear tugging low in my tummy. Instinctively I picked up my pace, keeping my eyes laser-focused up ahead. However, I couldn't ignore the sound that was coming from the woods and getting louder.
Unable to resist, my eyes flick to my right and I froze. Completely paralyzed. There's a glow of yellow in the dark, gleaming brightly. I am not imagining it, I swear it's there.
My heart rate kicks up and I stay frozen where I stand as the yellow eyes draw closer until it appears out of the woods. My heart drops in the pit of my belly heavily and I am not sure if I should scream or run as the huge beast of a grey wolf emerges out of the woods, growling and snapping its jaws at me.
