Amelia's pov
Its yellow eyes locked onto mine, the growls cutting through the cold still night sharply. Panic surged into a knot in my stomach and my heart skipped many beats of fear as I backed up. Every little voice in my head pushed me to run but I find myself rooted where I stood helplessly as the wolf took a thundering step forward, shaking its fur.
As I stared at the massive wolf in shocked silence I can't help but be confused by its mere size. I had never seen a wolf this huge before. Not that I had seen them up close but I would have never thought they'd be this huge.
It snarls, warning me that it didn't come here to be friendly. As my heart rate spiked, I took a step back, willing my legs to listen and run. But what would that do? With this beast massive size and the power those legs looked like they had, I would never be able to outrun this thing.
And I was not stupid to try.
I looked around the empty street, praying someone would help or I could get at least a weapon to help me fight the huge beast. And it seems my prayers to not die so young was finally answered when a glow of yellow bathed me.
I am tempted to look at who's car is approaching but I am reluctant to move my eyes off the snarling beast who's growls have slowed. It also backed away, looking annoyed that the approaching vehicle had interrupted its meal.
When it finally submerged itself in the darkness of the bushes, I finally find the courage to look at the car that was approaching. Relieved air pushed out of my lips when I noticed Foster's familiar car coming to a stop beside me.
He rolls down the window and leans over the console as he looks up at me with furrowed brows and eyes that gleamed with confusion. " When you said you'd find your way there I didn't think you'd walk the entire way to Dayna's house."
I ignored his question and looked behind me where the wolf had once been, still feeling its eyes on me. " I- did you see that wolf?"
" No. But I'm not surprised you did see one. Around here is full of these little shits. Get in." He opens the door, drawing back my attention and I do not waste a second to hop in the car and secure myself.
My brows furrowed once I take note of his words, turning to him shocked. " My dad told me there aren't wolves around here?"
Foster looked at me in surprise as he started the car and snorted. " Is your dad new too or is he an always at home kind of guy?"
" No, he's been living around here for years," I raked my brain to see if I can recall anything he told me otherwise. But as far as I know, I am correct on him only living here for years. Foster spared me a quick surprised glance, looking more confused.
" And he said there aren't wolves around here?" he voiced his confusion.
I nod, looking ahead as I wonder why dad had lied. Had really never seen any wolves around here? But that would be impossible.
" Should we come up with a plan before we get to Dayna's?" The strain in Foster's voice is a clear indication that he was nervous.
" There's no need. We go in there and grab Pickett. Dayna won't dare stop me."
Foster run an unsteady hand through his hair nervously. "As I've said before Amelia. Dayna and the others have a certain upper hand here that automatically makes them get what they want. It would be better to come up with a plan to distract her while I grab Pickett."
My brows knot. I didn't like that Foster was so scared of Dayna. " Trust me Foster. We will get Pickett out of there without having to do all those unnecessary stuff. Look, if you want you can stay in the car and I'll go in to grab Pickett. What's the worst that could happen?"
With a heavy sigh Foster nods and in ten minutes we're pulling up to Dayna's home. It's a wooden two story house with a dark aura surrounding it. The sound of the music blasting through the walls are the only indication that people live here. My eyes flicker to the familiar color of his car parked in the driveway and my jaw pops. Asshole.
Ripping my eyes away from Raiden's car, I looked at Foster. His grip around the steering wheel is tight while worry etch on his face. " Can you text Pickett to ask where she's at?" I asked.
Foster shook his head. " I have, but she hasn't answered any of my calls or texts since I came off the phone with you. The last thing she texted me was Dayna was approaching her."
" Stay here," I said while unbuckling the seat belt around me.
He whips around to stare at me with wide eyes. " I can't let you go in there alone!"
I rolled my eyes. " You can and you will. Look we need a driver to step on it as soon as we get in. Stay here." I opened the door, giving him a reassuring smile as his worry deepen. " Amelia, Dayna and her-
" Are not to be messed with. Got it the first and fourth time Foster. I'm not scared of them and neither should you. I'll get Pickett out of here, I promise." With those last words, I slammed the car door shut and jog up to the front door.
