Amelia's pov
I sprinted, my lungs burning, my mind racing just as fast or probably faster than my feet were going. Raiden had ignited a firestorm of chaos within me that made each step I took further away from him, echo into my mind.
Shaking off the feeling of his touch, his lips on mine, the taste of his kiss, the taste of him seemed impossible when my lips still tingle at the reminder that he was there, tasting me, taking control of me.
Thankfully Raiden doesn't follow after me, doesn't call me either to stop so I am relieved. Until I spot Foster a bit far ahead, he's not running or rushing, he's actually taking his cool time.
"Foster!" I called after him, running over to him before he could escape me. He stiffens, barely turning to look at me when I stop beside him.
I frowned. "I promise you what you saw back there was nothing. It meant nothing."
Foster suddenly stopped which caused me to follow suit and stop. I looked at him nervously as his face portrays no emotion. "Meant nothing?" There's a bit of sarcasm in his tone that shocked me. "From what I just saw, it meant a whole lot more than nothing."
I flinched. Because somewhere deep down, in the very deep depths, I know he was absolutely right. And that what aggravates me to no end. I hate that Raiden has done this to me.
"I was panicking and he kissed me to calm me down." I blurted out. "It was just a kiss that meant nothing. It won't even happen again," I let out a small laugh that was dried of any humor.
Foster shook his head. "I saw everything Amelia, from your reaction to his words. I didn't think you'd be one to fall for his charms." The disappointed edge in his voice made my gut twist and I feel nauseous.
"Foster-
He shook his head, finally looking at me directly in the eye. "I warned you the first day you got here. I told you those guys aren't like us. They're.....different. In a bad way," he sighs when I flinch. "Look I don't want to sound upset."
I swallowed the bitter pill that I had made the guy I consider my first friend here upset with me.
"But I am disappointed," he mumble low, his voice straining with that same emotion he confessed to. "Guys like Raiden can't be trusted. Not when you're not one of them."
I ripped my eyes away, feeling sad. "I know," I whispered. "It was the spur of the moment. I-we
Foster nod. "I'm just trying to protect you Amelia. From the moment I was assigned to take you under my wing, you've become like a sister to me. I don't want you to get hurt because of Raiden."
He gulps, turning back around. "Besides. Dayna is very territorial about things she think belongs to her. I know you're not afraid of her and can stand your own ground. But you should know that she has connections and other means to harm you."
I nod. " Trust me Foster. It won't happen again."
It won't. What happened was me being caught off guard and not expecting it to feel the way it did. Now that I know how it feels to be kissed by Raiden, I'd not crave for more....right?
Besides, it meant nothing. And Foster was right, I'd have to deal with Dayna who shows how annoyingly cruel she can be for things she want. Hopefully she doesn't find out about Raiden and I's kiss. God knows the tantrum she will throw if she ever were to find out.
Foster nod and then sighs. "I'm just trying to look out for you girl," his lips curve into a smile. "Come on," he interlocks our fingers and tug me. "Let's head on to class."
I nod, and follow after him. "Let's not tell Pickett about this. She already hated their group but what they did to her and humiliated her, she loathes them with a passion." Foster says with a wince.
My heart skips. Right. Raiden and his girlfriend humiliated Pickett last night. Guilt bit at me as I was reminded of this. I'm a terrible friend for giving in to the enemy. I won't let it happen again. I won't want anything to do with Raiden. Whatever little slip this was earlier, was nothing and meant nothing.
"I thirst for more of you." His words pushes into my head as a reminder and I shivered, a tingle curling down my spine. I can control myself. It meant nothing.
