Amelia's pov
His words. They shouldn't be affecting me this much. With my breath snagged and my pulse racing I remain completely still, scared that I will fall into his trap once more.
"What are you talking about Raiden," I gripped the mop hard, my fingers shaky. He's too close. Way too close. Let go. Let go. Tell him to let go.
He chuckled low and it sent shivers down my spine like a lick of fire. "For someone who's tough and bold, are you about to play the dumb card right now?" He press closer. "You know what I mean Amelia. You know I want you."
A sharp gasp escaped my lips and the mop in my hold drops to the floor with a loud smack. "That kiss earlier has haunted my thoughts ever since. I want more and more."
I swallowed hard, my heart thrumming against my chest. I don't understand why he's affecting me this much when I still hate him for what he did. He's a bad person. An asshole.
Step away Amelia. He's bad news like Foster had warned.
I don't know how but I found enough power to move out of his hold and whip around, glaring at him. "Just this morning you hated me. Now you can't have enough?"
"Hate you?" His alluring eyes stared deep into my soul. "Yes. For things you had no control over," he admitted, letting his eyes drop to my lips. "But wanting you? Yes, with every fiber of my being. And that's something I have no control over. Don't you see you've reduced me to this?"
I gaped, both stunned and confused by his words. As I stared into his eyes, the windows to his soul is open for me to view. Overwhelmed, I looked away and bend over to pick up the mop.
"The kiss had been a mistake....both times. Let's go back to hating each other." I grumble, trying my hardest to ignore his unnerving stare.
The air around us shifted into a tensed one and I could feel his hard stare on my book. I try to ignore it. A long pause made me believe he'd not respond, but when he did my heart flipped.
"It wasn't a mistake for me," He said hoarsely. "You know things can't go back to how it had been before Amelia."
I looked at him, trying to bury the emotions that were trying to swirl around me without my permission. "Yes it can. You and your bitch of a girlfriend stay far away while I won't even look in your direction. This," I pointed between us. "Is no lust and hate. I won't make you ever touch me again."
Raiden's jaw clenched hard. "She's not my girlfriend."
I rolled my eyes, turning away from him. "And I'm not yours either. Looks like you have a nack for kissing people you don't claim."
His fingers reach out to grip my arm and I turn around to shoot him frustrated glares. "Look I hate you okay? I should have stayed away from you when they warned me. I was a fool for thinking that maybe, just maybe you were different and I had it all wrong. Go back to how it was when I first got here, us strangers."
His grip grows firm. "I still wanted you then. Should I still go back?" He pointed out bluntly.
I ripped my arm out of his grip and scoffed. "No, but I'll go back to ignoring you. Nothing and I mean nothing, not even my father, will make me like or forgive you for what you did."
I knew my words had hit him when his expression changed and hardened. He stepped away from me as if I had burnt him and let out a dry chuckle. "Your father?"
His eyes drown in mine, darker now with anger. " Forgive me, I almost forgot whose blood runs in your veins for a second."
My brows draw in confusion and as he turn around I opened my mouth to question him but then remembered that we hate each other and I shouldn't care about what he thought.
Going back to the task wasn't easy, not when the tension loomed in the air for the hour we cleaned up the place. When we were done, we silently made our way to the exit, both of us heading in the opposite direction.
