Amelia's pov
Alarm bells ring in the back of my head when his question flutters over me. This is what a creepy stalker would ask, a murderer, someone who comes to collect everything bad would ask....and those alarm bells in the back of my mind are not because I fear his question...
It's because I am now instantly aware that my response will shift something in this room. Telling him yes would mean that I am admitting that the guy who seems to set me on fire is alone here with me...in my home. Alone. Breaths apart.
Put some fucking distance Amelia.
I step back, his eyes pin me down.
" No, Dad is," I swallowed, now so aware of how alone I really am in this house with Raiden. " Asleep in his room," the lie wasn't smooth because my damn voice shook. And I believe he took note of it. Of course, he did. Raiden was a guy who didn't let anything pass him, clearly.
His eyes cloud over, but the emotion is hard to read. Like always it's hard to read. But so are mine because I can hide things pretty well too. He clicks his tongue. " Such a little liar spitfire."
Fuck. The way his words came out of his lips, the way it caressed me, my skin down to my spine. I really hate him. But I hate the way he affects me more.
I crossed my arms over my chest as if it would help to block out his heated stare on my skin. Instead, I am ablaze on the spot. " I did not lie," I stressed on each word as if they were true. I hope God won't punish me for it.
His eyes flashed dangerously, making me shiver. Okay, Raiden being here was a bad idea. I don't know why he was, but it was a very bad idea. I looked behind him at the closed door, hearing the storm rage out outside.
I couldn't exactly kick him out, I wasn't that heartless. Despite him clearly being a heartless prick.
I bring my eyes to his reluctantly, not sure if I am able to fight the battle he seems to invoke in me. As our eyes clash I held my breath, shivering. His form fills the room like the thunderstorm raging outside and intimidates me more than I like to admit.
I ground my teeth. He still hasn't told me why he was here. " For the last time Raiden, why are you here? What do you want?"
Something flicks in his eyes, deepening until my nails scrap at my skin as I try to rid myself of the nerves building up in my lower stomach. This isn't good. I should have never opened that door and let him in.
" You know what I want," his tone is hoarse, firm and straight to the point. I hugged myself tighter, licking my lower lip out of a nervous habit. He followed that action like a hawk, his eyes burning through me.
I frowned. " No, I don't."
Oh yes I do.
He made it pretty clear earlier. Not only with his words but the way he kissed me, the way he touched me. He told me and it wasn't a secret. It wasn't a dirty secret.
He looked at me like I was talking shit right out of my mouth and I probably was because not even me believe the words I just uttered.
He steps forward. I step back. He does it again. And I do too. And then his eyes pin me like a dart, steeling me where I am and I forgot how to breathe. He chuckled softly as if I amused him. It irritated me.
" Yes you do," he points out, taking a step forward until his boots brush my toes. I have not breathed yet.
Goosebumps rise on my skin like tiny hives. I am deafly allergic to his words, my breathing haste. I bit my tongue when his heated eyes caressed my face as if he was trying to imprint my image in his head.
And when his finger hooked in that thin shirt of mine, crooking and tugging the material forward toward him, revealing some of my creamy cleavage, my teeth leaves a permanent mark on my tongue. " The way you tremble, the way your body responds, tells me you do," he utters so cockily I want to reach up and smack his smirk right off his face.
Why?
Because he was right.
