Bryson didn't want me to leave.
But I forced him to. He was the alpha, the leader of the pack. He should be readily available for anything.
His dad said it was urgent, but specifically said Sirus and Cole did not want me there.
Of course, Bryson was livid but I managed to calm him down enough to make him see reason.
There was no need for me and I was sure whatever was so urgent, had something to do with what happened between Maya and I.
Bryson agreed to go, only if Shawn can guard me until he gets back. Of course I agreed right away, wanting to unburden my mate.
he lingered for a bit, obviously not wanting to leave my side before I pushed him to go. Practically kicked him out.
My heart melted at the pout on his lips as he looked at me sadly.
" I should stay until Shawn gets here,"
I shook my head. " You said your dad sounded urgent. You better leave now Bryce. I'll be okay, Shawn is on his way and might pop up anytime soon."
Bryson looked unsure and I smiled to reassure him.
" I'll be okay Bryson. Maya is not here remember? Who wanted to hurt me, isn't here anymore."
Bryson still doesn't look reassured until we heard the loud screech of a car coming to a stop in front of the house.
It was mom.
She parked her car hastily and practically ran to the front door, her eyes filled with worry. She pulled me into her arms, hugging me tightly.
I had told her what happened in the woods when we spoke on the phone, seeing as the injection Maya gave me had not worn off completely.
She would've came home sooner, but I reassured her Bryson was with me. She was also in the infirmary, needed for a serious medical procedure.
I didn't want her to leave such an important procedure to come over to me.
" I'm so glad to see you with not a scratch on your face," She whispered. " And you're okay. You're okay right?"
I nodded, hugging her. " I'm okay mom. "
" I see your mom's here, so I can leave now," Bryson said with a small smile.
Mom broke away from me to look at Bryson, smiling. " Thank you for staying with her until I got here. You're already a wonderful mate to my little girl."
Bryson rocked on his heels shyly and I bit my lower lip to suppress my smile. " I'm just doing what I've always done. Protect the girl I love."
Mom smile turned a bit sad, but Bryson didn't seem to notice. I did and my brows crunched in confusion.
"Bryson, don't you have somewhere to be?" I raised a brow, folding my arms.
He looked at me sheepishly before nodding. " Okay I'm off. I'll come back as soon as I'm done. Wait up for me?"
I nod, smiling. He came over to give me a chaste kiss on my lips, before bidding both my mom and I goodbye.
Walking off and shifting into his wolf, Bryson speed through the trees and disappeared within seconds.
As soon as there was no sight of him, mom gripped my arm and practically pulled me inside the house, closing and locking the door.
I turn to her stunned.
Her eyes are wide and I could hear the quickening of her heart beat in her chest.
Worried, I asked. " Mom, what's wrong? What's going on."
She gripped my arm tighter, her eyes showing a hint of fear and her voice rambles with urgency. "You need to get away from here Emily. You need to run away."
