Aaru's words hung in the air, and for a moment, Rohan seemed taken aback. He looked at her, really looked at her, and for the first time, Aaru saw a glimmer of understanding in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Aaru," Rohan said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't realize...I didn't mean to suffocate you."
Aaru felt a surge of emotions: anger, sadness, and frustration. But as she looked at Rohan, she saw the sincerity in his eyes, and her anger began to dissipate.
"Why did you do it, Rohan?" Aaru asked, her voice softer now. "Why did you try to control me?"
Rohan took a deep breath, and for the first time, Aaru saw him look vulnerable.
"I was scared, Aaru," Rohan said. "I was scared of losing you. I thought that if I could just control everything, I could keep you safe."
Aaru felt a pang of sadness. She realized that Rohan's behavior was not just about control, but about his own deep-seated fears.
"We need to take a break, Rohan," Aaru said, her voice firm but gentle. "We need to work on ourselves, separately."
Rohan nodded, looking relieved. "I understand, Aaru. I'll do whatever it takes to make things right."
Aaru smiled, feeling a sense of hope. "I want you to seek therapy, Rohan. I want you to work on your issues, to learn how to let go of your fears."
Rohan nodded, looking determined. "I'll do it, Aaru. I promise."
As they parted ways, Aaru felt a sense of uncertainty. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that she needed to take care of herself.
Over the next few weeks, Aaru focused on her own healing. She started attending therapy sessions, working through her own emotions and fears. She also started reconnecting with old friends, people who had been pushed away by Rohan's controlling behavior.
Meanwhile, Rohan was also working on himself. He started attending therapy sessions, learning how to manage his fears and anxieties. He also started to realize the harm that his behavior had caused, and he was determined to make amends.
As they both worked on themselves, Aaru and Rohan started to communicate again. They would meet for coffee, talking about their progress and their feelings.
Aaru was surprised to find that she still had feelings for Rohan. But she was also cautious, knowing that she couldn't go back to the way things were before.
"I'm glad we're taking this break, Rohan," Aaru said, as they sat in a quiet café. "I'm glad we're working on ourselves."
Rohan nodded, looking at her with a newfound understanding. "Me too, Aaru. Me too."
As they parted ways, Aaru felt a sense of hope. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that she was taking steps towards healing and growth. And maybe, just maybe, she and Rohan could rebuild their relationship, stronger and healthier than before.
