I don't want to leave this hospital, leave Olivia, whatsoever but visiting hours are over so we're all forced to leave. Especially when Olivia's mom is back out of nowhere.
Finding out that the unfamiliar woman in Olivia's hospital room when we went over to see Olivia is her mom shocked all of us. Ashton, Danny, and Noah don't know much about Olivia's mom apart from her just not being around, but me and Divine know just about everything. She left for years, but all of a sudden she's back as if she never left.
"So, Olivia's mom left... and now she's just back after what, six years?" Ashton asks, still trying to figure all of this out as we all are, eating his fries as we stopped for dinner with Divine and Admira.
"Yeah, that's it," Admira says, eating her own fries.
"That's really shitty... I mean, is she only back because she heard about what Liv's dad did from Sienna, her social worker?" Ashton asks and I nod, having the same question.
"Lauren claims she was coming back for Olivia, but social services got to her first." Admira shrugs as Divine frowns.
"Do you think it's a good thing?" I ask Admira, knowing she'll have the best input when she's a mother also.
"I don't know... Lauren is, or was, a great person." Admira hesitates to go on. "She was my best friend all those years ago, but then she just up and left, cut all contact with me and everyone else. I don't even care about me, it's the fact that she left her kids whether she knew Justin," Olivia's dad, "would turn into that horrible of a person or not. And especially now that she has a whole ass other family." You know it's serious when Admira's cussing. "I don't know what to expect... She was an amazing mom when she was around but now that she left for years my views have completely changed on her."
"Do you think it was a mistake to let Lauren take back full custody?" Divine asks and I worry, not knowing these step siblings and step dad Olivia's going to have now and even her mom I worry about. There's so many what if's.
"I don't know," Admira says honestly. "Either way, Lauren was probably going to get it no matter what I said or what Olivia wanted. Lauren's her biological mom, it's always easier for them."
"Liv seems happy that she's back?" Ashton questions.
"She does..." I trail off, wondering about it all.
We were all acting happy for Olivia since her mom's back, because this is the happiest she's been. Even before her dad somehow got her back, I'd never seen her so happy. I wasn't happy though, none of us really were. Olivia had cried to me a few times about her mom and her leaving, she hurt her. It's not even just that, like Admira said, she left Olivia and her sister with a fucking monster, whether she knew or not is not at all an excuse to leave your kids. But Olivia's happy at least.
"I'm sure Olivia will realize eventually," Divine says and we all look at her. "I mean... with the mental state she's in right now, she's not thinking about all of this. And she surely has mommy and daddy issues." Divine frowns, muttering a few things to herself about how that was wrong to say. "Just this reunion and attention from her mom will make her happier than ever. Just give her time and she'll realize, let her have this happiness for now."
"You're right," Admira says as she wraps an arm around her daughter. "For now, just let Olivia be happy and be nice to Lauren for her."
Divine is right. We all know Olivia isn't okay, even though she says she is now. She's practically the same girl who texted me one night and I had to take her to the hospital because her dad broke her fucking hand and was too scared to say the truth about what happened to her even if we knew. She's just fine for now because of her mom being back.
We all know what happened, her dad did all this to her obviously. He put her in the hospital, again. We still don't know the full story yet, like why was she back there. But we knew he did this. She said he did. I'm sure the story is he just showed up to school and got her back but Olivia hasn't told anyone apart from Jordan and Sienna anything.
I hope eventually she'll tell me everything but I'm not going to push her to. Or tell others. I'm not going to push her to tell me like the night she came to the party like I practically did because I knew who did this and I knew he was going to go to prison this time.
At least I hope he does. The court is shit, and has shit Jury's nowadays so we'll see. But there's plenty of evidence that he's been hurting her for awhile, if he doesn't go to prison I'll deal with him myself somehow. It'll be so fucked up if he somehow isn't sent to prison.
"How's Olivia?" Noah asks us the second he gets into my car in the morning as I'd been driving us all to school lately, but when Olivia goes back I'm not going to be able to drive all six of us.
"She says she's okay." I had stopped by the hospital early this morning to see her for a couple minutes, worrying since she doesn't have a phone to text me on or anything now. She was eating some bacon from the breakfast she'd been served which made me happy. I don't know whether or not she ate lunch or dinner yesterday but I'm glad she's eating either way. She was also reading the book I had brought her.
"Her mom is back?" He asks next, Danny nodding as we had told him mostly everything.
"Yeah." Noah seems to have more to say as he thinks but he doesn't, going quiet.
I don't want to go to school, but I've got to as I make my way to gym class with Danny. It's fucking just half past seven in the morning, too early for gym. That should be illegal.
"What's going on with Noah?" I ask Danny as we finish our laps at the beginning of gym. The kid has been acting off for the last few days.
"I don't know, something with his dad and step mom I think? He won't tell me." Danny frowns. "What did you say Olivia's new step siblings or whatever's names were?"
"Noah and Cassie I'm pretty sure." Danny pauses as we go to walk over to play basketball with some other people.
"Noah? That wouldn't be... our Noah, would it be?" Oh god.
"That's just a coincidence," I say, wondering now.
"Noah's mentioned that he has a little sister before."
"There's a lot of people named Noah with little sisters." But it would make sense why Noah's been off lately, his family going through some stuff, his step mom having a daughter she's taking home soon.
"I'll try and see if he says anything but I'm not going to push him." I nod at Danny, understanding.
"Go away, Lexi," I say as she tried sitting in Olivia's usual seat next to mine.
"Where's your little whore?" I clench my jaw, pushing her hand away when it rests on my thigh.
"I thought you said last time we talked that was my last chance with you," I seeth.
"Well..." I push her off me again when her head rests on my shoulder.
"Fuck off, Lexi." She glares at me. "I've got a girlfriend, who I like very much. Stop for the love of god. Get it through your head that me and you are never ever happening."
"Fuck you." She stands from the seat and I wish the teacher would start a lesson so she can yell at Lexi to leave me alone. "You'll come crying to me when that little whore fucks you over."
"You're calling Olivia a whore when you've got a boyfriend yet you're acting like this with me?" Her face flushes because she knows I'm right and she finally goes to her usual desk.
Fucking finally.
The last class of the day drags by, making me more impatient than I've ever been as I want to go and see Olivia. I miss her so fucking much. The few days when she was out in a coma were unbearable. The second the bell rings, I'm out of the classroom and heading to my car, hoping my friends don't take their sweet time.
"Where's Noah?" I ask Danny as he's not with them all.
"He said his dad's picking him up for something." I wonder more about Noah and his family after mine and Danny's small talk about it this morning.
I drive us to the hospital, all of us wanting to see Olivia, and all of us rush back to her room as always. We find Admira and Olivia's mom Lauren already there in her room by the time we make it. Olivia's laying down as she reads, the room a comfortable silence, until us four walk in.
"Hi." Olivia sits up and I rush to help her as she smiles when she sees me. She wraps her arms around me then, and I do the same just extra gently as her body is still in need of a shit ton of healing. "How're you feeling?" She gives me a thumbs up, kissing my cheek and I flush, wondering whether she means good physically or mentally. Either one I'm sure is a lie.
"They said she could be released from the hospital tomorrow," Lauren says and everyone smiles happily for Olivia.
"Everything's looking like it should?" Divine questions as she sits on the bed next to Olivia.
"Yes it is," Admira says happily.
"Hi, Liv," Danny says as he waves to her and she does so back, happy to see him.
"So... where's Olivia going to go tomorrow if she does get released?" Divine asks what we're all wanting to, looking back and forth at Admira and Lauren.
"She's going to get all of her things from your guy's house," Lauren starts and Divine frowns. "Then she'll come back to my house, unless she's not ready of course."
"Are you ready?" Divine asks Olivia, turning all of her attention to her. Olivia shrugs, shutting the book.
"You take your time, okay?" Admira says and Olivia smiles but I know it hurts when she does with her fractured cheek bone.
Nothing looks like it's healing with her still bruised face but everything supposedly looking how it should be if they're going to let her leave the hospital tomorrow. Her nose seems to be healing the best, as the swelling's gone down a lot but it's crooked. The swelling everywhere else has hardly gone down at all, it's going to take her some time. At least her lung is going well, that being the most worrisome injury of hers.
Time passes and everyone's out of the room to get food but I could care less about food, the only thing I care about right now is Olivia. She eats the roll she had gotten with her dinner, smiling as she rests her head on my shoulder.
"Are you ready for tomorrow? To leave here?" She nods right away eagerly, and I know it's because she's tired of being in the hospital so I laugh. "Are you going to go to your mom's house? Or stay with Admira still for a bit?"
I'm gonna go to moms. I want to meet Noah and Cassie, she writes in her journal Admira must've brought except I wonder if there's a chance she's already met this Noah. I don't mention anything though, knowing we'll find out real soon.
"Are you okay? Mentally, not physically." She pauses mid chew as she thinks, her smile fading. She shrugs like it's nothing, like her mental health isn't a big deal, and watches the sitcom playing on the Tv. "Liv, baby, you can talk to me... or write, whatever you want. I'm here for you and will listen to every single word." She smiles when she turns back to me again. "It will be okay though, someday. I promise."
She leans back into my arms, nodding with a smile as she finishes her roll. I kiss her head and she turns to kiss me on the lips.
"That's PDA," Danny announces as he walks back into the room with everyone else as they laugh just as me and Olivia pull away from each other.
"Fuck off."
I walk into the house, heading to my room. Mom's at work still, leaving me home alone, I think at least.
Well, the stench of alcohol proves my thoughts of being home alone wrong.
"You're late coming home," Daren, my mom's boyfriend, says and I roll my eyes, heading upstairs anyways. I just want to get my homework done. "Don't ignore me, you little bastard."
He yanks me down the steps by my wrist and I tumble down the stairs, wincing when one of the books in my bag crashes against my back.
"Where were you?" He demands and I ignore the dark look in his eyes, wanting mom or dad, my real dad.
"I was at my friends house," I croak out, wincing more as I try to sit up but he pushes me by my shoulders to force me back down. "Leave me alone."
"Don't disrespect me!" He kicks me right in my side, my ribs aching worse than ever. He never hits me anywhere mom or anyone else will see. "Your mom wouldn't like to hear how you treat me, would she?"
"I don't see what mom sees in you," I grumble, attempting to stand again but he just pushes me right back down.
"I suggest you stop talking." There goes another kick and I cry out in pain this time. "Pathetic little bastard is crying now?" He laughs.
"Stop!" I shout and only realize I'm awake too late when Ashton jerks awake in my bed at his end, confused as fuck.
"The fuck?" He rubs his eyes and I wipe the sweat off my forehead, shaking. "Adrian? Hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing... just a nightmare." I try to get my breathing back to normal but struggle, I haven't had a nightmare about him in forever.
"Adrian? What's wrong?" Mom barges into my room, panicked.
"He had a nightmare," Ashton tells her without hesitation, scooting closer to me as I still struggle with regular breathing.
"Oh, Adrian." Mom sits on the bed beside me, pulling me into her arms. "It's okay."
"I haven't had a nightmare in forever... about him, at least," I say as Ashton frowns.
"It might be because of... everything with Olivia's dad," he says and mom nods in agreement. I have been thinking about what happened to me with everything that's happening with Olivia now so it'd make sense that it brings back flashbacks.
"Yeah," is all I say as my breathing turns regular again finally, now just dealing with the terrible cold sweat.
"It's okay," mom whispers, holding me close.
I want Olivia.
