Landon stared at the declined call screen in disbelief, never imagining she would dare hang up on him.
He'd been looking forward to seeing her smile when she received his gift, but instead got the coldness.
His brow furrowed as he sat in his office, lost in thought.
It wasn't until his assistant knocked and entered that he suddenly stood up and strode out quickly.
Savannah was about to say something to him.
But as soon as she opened her mouth, Landon brushed right past her, as if dealing with some urgent emergency.
She froze for a moment, her face darkening, then immediately turned and followed him to the car.
Landon ignored her, just kept flooring the gas pedal.
No matter how Savannah tried to make conversation, he didn't respond.
Savannah bit her lip hard, tears of anger welling up in her eyes.
What should have been a thirty-minute drive was cut in half. Landon got out and headed straight for the second floor.
But the bedroom contained nothing except that full glass of milk.
He turned and grabbed a cleaning lady, demanding harshly: "Where is Sierra?"
The housekeeper shook her head and said quietly: "She went out this morning and never came back."
Landon was stunned. He looked down to check the time.
He said angrily: "Didn’t I tell you to keep a damn eye on her and let me know if anything happened? What the hell do I even pay you for?"
The housekeeper blinked nervously, then looked hesitantly at Savannah.
Savannah immediately flared up, shrieking: "What are you looking at me for!"
She glared at the woman viciously.
The housekeeper felt wronged and scared. It was clearly Savannah who had warned them not to bother Mr. Carter, but now she was acting like it had nothing to do with her.
Just as Landon was about to walk out, something on the table caught his eye—a note.
His heart sank as he picked up the piece of paper.
"Savannah had told me everything. Her dad never saved you, did he? So the whole thing— six years in prison—was just one big lie."
"Landon Carter, from now on, we are done."
Landon's mind went completely blank, his hand trembling slightly as he held the note.
Savannah had never seen this expression on his face before, so she moved closer.
After reading the words, she immediately started screaming.
"It wasn't me! I didn't tell her anything!"
She stamped her feet in distress, saying pitifully: "Landon, you have to believe me!"
"Believe you? How am I supposed to believe you?"
After Landon said these words softly, he slowly turned to look at her.
"Haven't you gotten enough already?"
Landon's eyes showed unconcealed coldness.
Savannah's head buzzed. For the first time, she felt terrified.
She threw herself into Landon's arms, tears streaming down her face, hoping to soften his heart:
"Landon, I'm not stupid. What would I gain from this?"
Landon pushed her away and let out a cold laugh.
"What the hell do you think you’re gaining from this? Isn’t this exactly what you wanted? She’s gone now—so what, you think you can just take her place?"
Then, noticing the housekeeper standing nearby, he suddenly exploded: "What the hell are you staring at? You're fired! And don’t bother showing up tomorrow!"
He stormed out with long strides.
The housekeeper was stunned. She looked angrily at Savannah's ashen face and shouted:
"Mr. Carter, I swear—I wasn’t trying to hide anything! It's Miss Blake! She told us not to say anything to you!"
Savannah immediately shrieked back: "You're lying! Shut your mouth right now!"
