Both Dragonborns survived the Monday Madness, but what will happen if they face the Madness Lord himself? What would happen? Both Miraak and Ammra were to see the challenge they'd soon face.
After all of the enemies died, Miraak immediately lifted Ammra in bridal style when he noticed her collapsed. She was unconscious. He drew back and hastily found a place to lay her down, avoiding any possibility of another wave of attack
"I knitted you scarf...father...I love you..." she mumbled faintly.
It was the first time for Miraak to see someone muttering her affection even in her black out. In his eyes, Ammra just being Ammra even if she was unconscious. When Miraak put her down, he noticed she was shedding tears. That dangerous combination of innocence and sadness made his mind blank for a brief second. When she winced in pain he suddenly back to his sense and examined her.
She was not wounded but his gaze landed on the purple crystal. Its pointed tip was stuck in Ammra's body. He pulled it out from her arm followed by a small flow of blood. The crystal was small but big enough to serve its purpose as a throwing knife. Ammra began blinking her eyes while Miraak swiftly hid the crystal. It was easy for him to tell that something about it seemed to weaken her.
Meanwhile, the last Dragonborn felt as if she was being trapped inside a sphere of glass. Just like a tiny figure inside a snow globe with her body was petrified. Then came altars of offering that surrounded her from eight directions. She felt her energy, life force, and her very soul was slowly sucked by an invisible force. But suddenly all turned bright and she found herself lying next to him. Miraak just gave her a stoic expression. She tried to register the situation and remembered the ambush.
"I thought you were stronger than this." He said while stood on his feet. "Get up, dragonborn! We need to leave soon!" he turned away after seeing her fragile look, not wanting to be affected.
They continued their journey. Ammra healed herself while pacing as fast she could. Her heart was racing and her head was full of memories she had been trying to bury. Meanwhile, silently Miraak sensed her change. Something inside him keep on telling him she was in terrible shock and sorrow but she remained awfully quiet that made him felt that invisible rift again.
"Guest room is over there. Make yourself at home." Finally, she muttered a few words as soon as they entered Proudspire Manor. She averted his eyes while talking then went to lock herself in her room.
"Merry Christmas...Ammra"..."I will go to work, see you soon sweetie."..."I bought some cookies for you"..." Happy Anniversary to Papa and Mama. I love you..."
Voices echoed inside her head. All the conversation and words between her and her parents came rapidly. She laid back to fully soak her body inside the bathtub, letting warm water soothed her. "I cannot give up. Not now!" she tried to assure herself. As soon as she finished taking bath, Ammra continued her study about the project. The essence from three Divines had been collected. She wanted to make sure her plan was still on track.
While she was occupying herself with her books, on the far end of the manor, inside his room, Miraak took out the purple crystal from his pocket. Being in Apocrypha for thousands of years granted Miraak a sharp sense to detect the power of other Deadric princes. It was not difficult for him to tell that the crystal had Mephala's power. It made him wondered what Ammra could possibly do to make herself involved with that Daedric Prince of treason.
Before he could think enough his attention was drawn by some racket from downstair. He thought there might be another. So Miraak stepped out of his room to check.
The sound came from what seemed to be a study room. When Miraak stepped closer, he flinched and froze. Ammra was standing few meters before him. One of her hands carrying an opened book which she was engrossed to, another hand carrying a slice of cheese. She walked back and forth inside the room, chewing, and reading. It would have been normal multitasking had she put her clothes properly! But that time she was only wearing a piece of towel to cover her body! She let her wet hair loose. Books are everywhere—it seemed she had quick browsed them all.
Miraak took a deep breath. Clenching his fists. Ammra noticed him and just saying," Owh...do you need something?" then she continued what she was doing but suddenly she remembered, "Ah...I forgot to prepare him dinner!" the book in her hand was closed with a 'plop' sound.
"Can you please stop that?! Put on your damn clothes!" for the first time the First Dragonborn yelled and cursed, losing his cool. Ammra gasped out of sudden outburst from him.
She slammed the book onto the table. "Why are you angry?!" she yelled back. "I did not bother you at all." she crossed her arms and walked passing him. "I don't see why you are so upset."
Miraak hit his face with his palm then walked to his room while Ammra casually prepared dinner for both of them. She put on her clothes then called him for dinner. This time she had her meal while reading the journal she wrote about her project, completely not noticing Miraak's gaze at her.
There was a long silence. Ammra just took a single bite from her meal then engrossed in her book again. "Oi, bookworm!" Miraak called. Ammra instinctively responded and regretted it. She just grunted and turned away from him to continue reading, which made him smirked at her reaction.
He felt he was seeing himself through Ammra. The girl had thirst for knowledge and power. "Tell me, what you know about Mephala." Miraak decided to interrupt.
She rose her face, narrowed her eyes while thinking. "Daedric prince of treason...?" a hesitant answer came from her. "I ever heard but never really care." She said casually then continue reading. Suddenly she closed her book. "I need to drink something sweet for my brain!"
"No. You need an expert level healing spell for your brain." He sneered. "If...you have one, of course." Ammra just snorted and gave him an unamused look.
"I think there is an excellent Book of Insult in Apocrypha and you had read it all." She replied.
He smirked seeing her pouted. "Why all of sudden do you need something sweet?"
She wanted to say that something unknown making her anxious after the attack. She did not know what the enemy had done to her. All she knew was all of her attempts to distract herself; a warm bath, reading, and even thinking did not work at all. But who was she to tell him that? She cried once before him and it was more than humiliating to let herself looked terrified over unknown things before him.
"I just need something to calm myself after the attack." She made up an explanation.
She lost her focus. The pain caused by those memories was hard to rid of. She felt she could break down anytime just like a pathetic glass."You can stay here if you want. No! I am kidnapping you, so I must bring you too!" she went again with that nonstop talking. Without waiting for his permission, Ammra just pulled Miraak up and drag him out of the house to follow her.
"...in bard college, they burn something to symbolize it as Ulfric..." Strangely Ammra spoke a lot of things. Her hand was cold, holding his. She was trembling. But after a few steps away from the house someone called out.
"O...young lady over there, please wait!" Ammra halted. A stranger came closer. A Bosmer. "I am really in a need of help." He spoke. "My master has abandoned me! Abandoned his people. And nothing I say can change his mind." The stranger said in a sad and hopeless tone. "Can you help me to talk to my master, young lady?" he politely asked. "His vacation took him away for too long. We need him to return home."
"Umm..."
"Great! Thank you!" he replied before Ammra even talking. "Here, take this." He handed something wrapped in cloth. "It is Pelagius's hip bone."
"What..."
"You will need it to gain access to my master. In fact, he whispered to me he wanted to see you. He is expecting you. Thank you, young lady." He said rapidly then trotted away, leaving Ammra dumbfounded. Her eyes moved to Miraak then to the stuff on her hands.
Miraak saw how carefully and suspiciously she opened the wrapping. It was indeed a hipbone. Ammra gave a small scream and dropped the thing. Suddenly there was a mild blow of wind. Both Dragonborns instantly found themselves sitting on a dining chair. A long dining table with lavish food laid before them.
"Oh...A Visitor! How charming!" an old man with silver hair and peculiar clad exclaimed. He sat on the far side while another stranger sat on the near.
Miraak narrowed his eyes. He knew who the old man was.
"Welcome to Pelagius III's mind. Now tell me, what brings you here? Do you have cheese with you or do you plan to burn down a whole damn city?"
"Where am I?" Ammra asked. "And can I have this drink?"
"Go ahead you, silly! You are my guest! And Yes...yes..You are inside the mind of Pelagius the III. He is right here with me. Owh...look, he is shy with you and your...umm...sullen-faced friend."
Ammra chuckled and drank. "Owh..this tastes good. I bet it will be perfect with Eidar cheese"
"Ha! Finally, someone with style." The old man said. "I like you."
"So...who is this Pelagius and who are you?" Ammra asked. But the old man seemed to be busy talking to a man who sat near him. "Miraak..." she whispered.
"Pelagius Was the Jarl of Solitude and the twelfth Emperor of Tamriel. And that old man you see is Sheogorath." Seeing Ammra confused face he continued, "He is the Daedric prince of madness."
She then stood up and walked toward the man. "Sorry to interrupt, but I believe this is yours." She placed the hipbone on the dining table. The Daedric Prince looked surprised then looked at her. "If you excuse us, we need to go. Mind telling us where the exit door is?"
"So, my luggage finally found you?! Excellent!" he exclaimed. "You can keep this artifact!" he mentioned the hipbone. "I did not expect you to be a...a...not so tall person."
Ammra was triggered. Why on Mundus her height should be mentioned? Out of all damn things, why should she keep a hipbone? She tried to hold back her annoyance.
"Luggage...you mean that Dunmer? So, you are his master?"
"Well...he kept calling me that." Suddenly he yelled. "And if you think you can convince me to go home, you are totally wrong. Fail! No success! Now have your cheese!" Ammra flinched. "I want to enjoy my vacation and this mammoth steak. It is so soft...I mean reallyyy soft and tender!"
"Why would I care if you want to go home! It's none of my business!" Ammra raised her voice. "Just get me out of here and deal with your own problem!"
"Ha! How selfish but fierce! I like that! I could kill you instantly now but that means I will not see you being fierce again!" he rose his voice too.
"Selfish! Yes, I am selfish and at least I don't give human bone randomly to someone! Just get me out of here already!" she crossed her arms while stomping her feet.
Sheogorath laughed. "You can't just leave. Don't you see this poor Pelagius III fellow? At least give him a hand...or give me a hand."
"Nah. I am busy!"
"Hahahah...Funny! But you are doing nothing now!"
"I am busy breathing!" Ammra snapped in a high-pitched voice.
"You just had my wine. At least now do something in return!"
"Whoaaaa...You Deadric Princes are such stingy creature. Get me home and I will replace your wine with the better ones!"
Pelagius III turned his head to Miraak, who watched them in silence as they yelling at each other over something unimportant. He pressed the area between his eyes, knowing he was not supposed to be there. Miraak regrated the decision to let her drag him along.
Eventually, they came to a conclusion. Ammra would help to treat Pelagius's mind as a form of payment for the wine she drank. "What kind of host requests payment to his guest." She grunted as she walked away. Her body disappeared among the mist.
"Don't worry, she will be fine!" Sheogorath spoke as he saw Miraak was about to follow her. "Sit down and relax. Why don't you tell me how Mora's doing?" he took a sip from his cup. "Ah...nevermind. He is...booorrringg...let's just watch our little girl treat Pelagius's mind."
He conjured a big globe that floated in the air over the dining table. The globe showed how Ammra was doing. "Wake him up from his terrible nightmare!" Sheogorath exclaimed, giving orders.
Ammra saw a bed in the middle of the forest. A child was sleeping there and he heard Sheogorath's voice ordering. Suddenly a staff appeared on her hand. "Use that Wabbajack....hahahaha!" he said. Then without hesitation, Ammra hit the boy with the staff.
"By all the cheese! She is mean! I did not expect her to do that! Ha! I like her again!" Sheogorath exclaimed to himself. Miraak just wished this all ended fast.
Many creatures that gave Pelagius nightmare came to attack Ammra. But when she shot a red beam from the Wabbajack, they turned into something else; chicken, rabbit, dog, goat, even mudcrab. That was where the fun started for Ammra. "Hahahaha...Bring it on!" she cheered, amused by what the staff could do. It was an easy job to fend off the nightmare.
She ran joyously to the next area. Ammra faced another puzzle but somewhat she understood how Sheogorath put the trick and able to crack it. She chased all the giants and mammoths while turning them into chickens. There were dozens of wolves and bandit who attacked but she turned them into sparrows she dramatically scared them away while laughing. "She is playful and naughty!" Sheogorath observing her. "And I sensed she carried some sort of divines power with her. Ohh...other daedric princes will love to see her...or perhaps eat her! Hahaha..."
Miraak remained silent. His words hit him but he could not do much for he is trying to find a way to get out of that realm. A few moments later he heard Ammra approaching.
"I think I know how the staff works!" she said while catching her breath. Ammra seemed so excited. Her lively eyes looked at the Daedric.
"Reealllly? I don't think..." before Sheogorath could finish his sentence, Ammra already fired him with Wabbajack. That was totally unexpected even for Miraak.
"You got a nerve on attacking a Daedric Prince!" Miraak said in surprise. Ammra just chuckled. When they turned to Sheogorath, he looked exactly the same as Ammra.
"TWIN SISTER!" The real Ammra cheered. Sheogorath in Ammra's form laughed hard.
"I like you! I really-really like you! At this rate, I will take you as my daughter...and turned you into a cheese! AND WILL EAT YOU with...Red Wine!"
"Not just a cheese...but an Eidar cheese wheel!" Ammra replied and they laughed.
"Now, are you ready to go home?" Sheogorath asked.
"Is this what you called dinner and vacation?!" Ammra snapped. "As Lord of Madness, you are so boring. You need music. We all need music! I'll call the bards!"
"HA! A FANTACTIC IDEA! Cheese for everyone! I want a love song!"
"BEHOLD!" Ammra roared as she conjured several bards in that place using the Wabbajack. She stood among them and readied herself. "Ehem..." she cleared her throat then the bards started to play the lute. "This love song is for and from someone whom I admired."
Then Ammra started singing the song from Elvis Presley:
Wise man says...only fools rush in...
Miraak let out a heavy sigh as he reached his patience limit seeing such a mess.
But I...can't help...falling in love...with you...
Miraak froze when accidentally their eyes met. Without him knew it, her beautiful voice drifted him away. He noticed even Sheogorath—who had turned to his own appearance—enjoyed the music so much. When Ammra finished singing, the bards disappear and both of them cheering. Miraak took this chance to walked behind Ammra.
"Now for the next so..." Ammra could not continue talking because Miraak was covering her mouth with one hand and pulling her closer.
"We are ready to leave this place." He said to Sheogorath.
The Daedric prince just laughed and said," Ta-ta sister! I hope you will not be eaten soon by my fellow." He laughed again then send them back to the mortal realm. Ammra grunted and Miraak let go of his grip.
"Owh...look! He let me keep the Wabbajack!" she said cheerfully. "Perhaps he is not stingy."
Miraak did not respond. Instead, he just walked to his room. For the first time after several thousand years, the first Dragonborn got a headache.
