The next morning, Miraak felt something was odd. Ammra was usually talkative but he hadn't heard a single voice. She did not step out of her room.
"My thane told me to keep you in the city as she left," Lydia told him. He turned to her instantly.
"Where did she go?" Miraak quite upset Ammra leaving him.
"I found a note on the bed saying she would hunt some mages," Lydia answered. Miraak instantly thought of Mephala. "And she strongly told me to forbid you leaving to find her,"
He smirked. "Are you going to stop me now?"
Lydia who knew what was going on between them just shook her head. "Get her to safety. She could be unpredictable sometimes."
"Any clue where she went?"
She shook her head again. "Let's go get her back."
"No. You will slow me down. Just stay here." he told her and left the house.
Even if he was being a jerk, he agreed with Lydia. Ammra's way of thinking could be too unpredictable. He stormed out of the city's gate while thinking about how to find her.
His feet made their way toward nowhere because his mind was thinking of any possible place she went. It was almost impossible to locate her. "How troublesome!" he was about to burst into frustration when he noticed some suspicious people who have been eyeing him. He paced slowly while trying to hear what they were talking about.
"It's him. She was always with him."
"If we take him as bait, she will leave the town to find us."
"Mephala showed us the way."
Miraak turned in the corner and walked toward Thundra Homestead. If he wanted to get information from them, they need to be tortured without any town guard seeing. As soon as he arrived in the open field, he stopped at track. The patrolling guard was not there.
Had those poor mages known they were trying to abduct the very and first Dragonborn, they would have quitted their plan. Miraak immobilized them by his shock spell before they could do anything. After leaving in Apocrypha as well as controlling people to build him a temple, interrogation with torture became his art, thus Miraak could easily extract information regarding their hideouts.
After he got all he needed to know, Miraak left them paralyzed, not caring if any beast would eat them alive. He focused on the next thing he must do: finding a dragon to mount.
Luckily perhaps, being Dovahkiin could also be a magnet to the dragon in a good and bad way. As for now, he gladly accepted the fact that his presence attracted the dragon as he walked to its hiding place. With a single Bend Will thu'um, Miraak set off to the first location that Ammra visited.
As soon as he arrived, he immediately saw the trace she left: clean kill. Miraak studied the horse trail was fresh, meaning she was not far. Ammra headed northeast and probably to their main headquarter. "She must be mad!" he grumbled and mounted the dragon.
Any form possibilities of how Ammra would be captured and abused by the Mephala and its cults sent a chill sensation to his spine. He knew how cruel and horrifying it was to be used by Daedric prince because he experienced it himself. And he did not want Ammra to suffer the same fate. "She knew the crystal could weaken her, yet she stubbornly attacked! How insane she could be!" He grumbled again.
Sane or not, Ammra had made her way inside the hugecave. Had it not near the full moon, her adrenalin might keep her at home. But after all that happened, the rush of thebeast's blood affected her judgment. She knew she might die but she just did notcare for death was something she came to desire at that moment.
Additionally, with Mephala reminded of her past, she became even fearless. Nothing could stop her, not even three mages attacking her with a firestorm.
Feim Zii Gron...
The thu'um made her ethereal and could not be harmed. She used this chance to sprint passing them and when the thu'um effect faded, a quick casting of paralysis spell immobilized all of them. Ammra thrust her palm on their heart area, and the next moment they coughed blood as their hearts exploded inside their bodies.
She hurriedly strode on the crisp snow and ended up in a hall. The cave led to an underground temple. A hoard of zombies pouring from all directions as their caster stood upstairs. She cast the Bane Undead Spell and this time unsheathed her sword. Some zombies flee, some of them remain but got burned. She almost finished them all when mages fired her the purple crystal from above.
Ammra evaded. Her agility and speed increased with the beast's blood. Upon seeing the purple thing, she could feel she almost shifted. A roar of anger filled the air as she charged forward, beheading the last zombie then firing a fireball to the mage above her.
"She is uncontrollable. Use the memory trap!" he heard one of the enemies shouted as they ran to the next hall.
Fus Ro Dah...
The big door swung open with her shout. Ammra conjured a Dreamora lord with her and one flame Attronach. With her small army, Ammra charged forward. Her heart was pounding faster as the heat of the battle consumed her. There were explosions of spells, ice spikes, and thunderbolts around the big hall. With her thu'um she scattered everything.
"I must be crazy..." Ammra thought to herself as she reconjured her Dremora lord again after it was defeated. There were more mages than expected. This alone should tremble her in fear, instead, Ammra felt the blood lust driving her body to kept fighting. Like a mad man, she attacked them. The scream and cry of the enemies that bleed and burned did not stop her. Until at some point, their leaders emerged.
Meanwhile, Miraak who immediately found the place immediately stormed forward as soon as he entered the cave. The newly battle trace convinced him she was there.
"Her companion came! Keep them separated!" someone roared from upstairs when they saw Miraak coming. The door that led to the next room barred from behind. Several mages stood in his way.
"Kneel." He muttered in a cold tone. The enemies froze then their faces smirked, underestimating the person before them. "I said, kneel." He ordered again but they didn't obey him.
FusRo Dah...
His shout pushed them away as well as swung the door open. Acrossthe room, he saw Ammra was fighting alone. A combination of relief seeing her alive, annoyed because he was left, and worry because she put herself in danger, made him stormed forward in frustration while killing any pest who dared to approach.
Those worms were nothing compared to Miraak in terms of magic. He could easily sweep them away like straw in the wind while making his way to Ammra.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" He yelled from behind. Ammra was a few steps in front of him.
"IT'S DANGEROUS! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!" She cried back then unleashed another thu'um to the approaching horde of zombies.
"SAY THAT TO YOURSELF, YOU IDIOT!"
Ammra who was in the rush of the battle got triggered. "ARE YOU COMING HERE TO INSULT ME! FIND ANOTHER TIME!" she yelled. Two Dragonborns fought side by side while yelling to each other—fighting.
They were back-to-back as enemies surrounded them. Form the second floor, mages stood in a position to fire their magic. "Miraak, you must leave!"
"Who are you, dare to order me around!" his pride forbid him to decline in a normal way,
"WHY THE HELL ARE YOU HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE?!" She shouted as her hand cast a sphere of ward to cover both of them. Firestorm and icestorm spells hit them, followed by a loud explosion and shaking ground.
"I CAME HERE TO HELP YOU, BOOKWORM! TO SAVE YOUR INSANE BRAIN!" He quickly yelled then shouted, Fus Ro Dah... toward the mages above them.
"WHY?" Ammra shouted. Now she cast another Dremora Lord, they fought their way to the drive away to zombies while finding the conjurer. The smell of fight getting thicker in the air.
"BECAUSE I CARE!" He couldn't stop his words from escaping his throat.
Ammra was several feet away from him when suddenly eight stone pillars grew from the floor, trapping her in a huge octagon Magica prison. The pillar had that purple crystal engraved.
"Aghh..!" she grunted in pain as her knees went weak. Ammra resisted but eventually dropped to her knees.
"Finally, she calms down!" one of the enemies said from above.
Other mages on the first floor who survived her wrath began to heal themselves with spells. More arc and master mages also appeared to stop Miraak.
On the other hand, Ammra's Magica and power was drained rapidly. Mephalas began playing with her memory as the Daedric prince entering her mind. The event she hated most appeared. "Aghhhhh!!!" Ammra screamed trying to cast away the vision. The pain, agony, and horror filled her head. She was suddenly so overwhelmed with sadness and sorrow that quickly turned into fear and desperation.
The enemy was successful in capturing Ammra. But little did they know, they were also successful in evoking the wrath of the first Dragonborn. Hemight be weak when Ammra locked his power. But it was different now. With his fullpower back, Miraak showed what he was capable of.
With a gentle but swift thrust, Miraak evaded while summoning his staff and he floated in the air. He effortlessly cast another chain of lightning that hit the target and leaped to another then fired another explosion spell from his staff.
When they run out of Magica and tried to attack him in close combat, his thu'um roared, letting out more power.
Fus Ro Dah...
It echoed as it sent those mages across the room and hit the ground hard. Some were dead some quickly the stood to his feet. But before they could do anything, Miraak had swiftly cast another lightning bolt that sent them to death.
Ammra watched him fought as she remembered how she tried to defeated him. Those mages were too easy for him. Miraak did not even move his feet from the initial point. Instead, now he floated like those damned dragon priests while killing the poor enemies in a majestic and cruel way.
"How did I beat him last time?" she thought. As Mephala absorbed her life power, she began to invade her consciousness. But that time, Ammra's beast blood resisted. It moved without her control. She felt as if two foreign power fought over the dominance of her body. "Damn Hircine and Mephala! Get your ass out of my head!" she tried to keep herself awake.
After seeing what Miraak was capable of, the remaining mages ran to the second floor, attempting to hide while attacking from higher ground. Miraak knew those mages could casted nonstop because Ammra currently was being trapped and drained by the crystals. He thrust his staff to the floor and in a blink of an eye, darkness—as if it was liquid—filled the floor and began crept out. It grew into black-greenish tentacles that trapped those mages.
He noticed one mage who just stood still from above, exposing himself as the leader. Even this particular mage did not stand a chance to escape as well when the tentacle wrapped his body. Miraak floated higher to his level. "How dare you hurt her!"
With a single command of his mind, the tentacle pierced his body. Silence fell after loud cries of pain from mages filling the air. They dropped dead and Miraak dismissed his magic. He landed outside the cell. "No! Don't come closer! Please!" she cried.
She roared but Miraak ignored her. As Miraak stepped into the cage— which did not affect him at all—he saw the memory of Ammra that was abused by Mephala. "Please Miraak...leave. Don't see it...please. I beg you..." Ammra stood and tried to push him out but failed. She cried and sobbed while burying her face on his body. "Please...don't see it."
Are you ready to see her memories?
