The next day she woke up, Ammra almost screamed and jolted when finding out Miraak was sleeping while holding her close."What have I done?!" she thought. "I am not supposed to be this close." Ammra attempted to free herself but Miraak held her tighter.
"Judging from your force, I believe you have recovered," he spoke with his eyes remained shut.
"Um...yeah...I-think..." she tried to pull away. He sighed and pulled her closer instead.
"Be still for a while, little one." he hummed.
Ammra's face was burning red. Her thought obliged her to keep her distance but her body betrayed her as her fingers gingerly poking his chest. He was warm, cuddly—maybe—and tall. But most of all, she totally felt he was harmless.
Even if it seemed Ammra hadn't made up her decision yet in reciprocating his affection, it did not stop Miraak from doing what he thought necessary for her well-being. He became more attentive especially after finding out she had not completely recovered.
When Odahviing took them to Whiterun, Miraak pulled her closer to make sure she was protected enough from the cold air. He didn't hesitate to give a menacing glare to the patrolling guard or any stranger who happened to pass them during walking toward the city gate after Odahviing dropped them near Thundra Homestead. Anyone could be an enemy in disguise, so whenever a stranger was too close to them, Miraak would pose his most intimidating aura to keep them off.
He only let his guard down when they entered Breezehome where Lydia had figured out everything only by seeing her thane's blushing face. Miraak's protective act had somewhat affected her without she could hide.
"I need a warm bath," she told Lydia.
"You can wait in the bathroom, my thane. I'll get it soon." Ammra immediately left his side to hide. Lydia then turned to Miraak," She was dense, but I presume you had made it quite clear. Good luck!" she told him.
The elder Dragonborn remained silent. He didn't expect that from her. Before she left, he told him again, "I prepared some meal. You might want to eat before she makes you travel again soon."
"Soon?"
"My thane always got the inspiration when she soaks herself then often ended up in some sort of traveling after that." Miraak felt as if he just obtained official permission to make his move on Ammra.
Meanwhile, the young confused Dragonborn bathed herself amongst the fragrance water, trying to calm herself while processing everything inside her poor head. She was relieved to know the truth of her parents for sure, but the truth about what Miraak felt was too unexpected. Yet, she also had another thing to worry about: the orbs and their existence that attracted enemies.
She was happy knowing what he felt but something held her back. The untrusting nature toward love that she had been holding tight making her questioned if what he did was just a trick. She just couldn't completely believe it. But her heart was aching when she thought of rejecting him. It's totally different compared with when he rejected other men including Vilkas.
Exasperated, Ammra stepped out of her bathtub then snatched her clothes. That was when she noticed something. "Could it be..." she immediately rummaged the pouch where she gathered all the orbs. A gasp of air escaped her lips when she felt the resonance.
Her hand trembled when she took out two orbs from Dibella and Mara which had turned to be fully blessed. Ammra instinctively understood the riddle and clues she had gathered. She came into a realization that the feeling between them was mutual.
For some seconds she was speechless. A tear of mixed feeling rolled down. All this time she lived with that partly-broken mental in terms of love and compassion. What an irony she could get it fixed by him, the very person who she thought was of pure evil.
She took a deep breath. Enjoying the quietness and bliss of finding something so meaningful. Just like what Lydia said, she got a new idea. A totally new plan.
One of the plans was to find the rarest beverage: Mead with Juniper Berries.
Soon after she found out Miraak had enjoyed his meal and bath, Ammra immediately took him to Helgen. Odahviing waited elsewhere as Ammra roamed around the debris.
"I believe you have a strong reason why we are here, Dovahkiin." He spoke.
Ammra stopped near a stone where the first time she saw Alduin. "You know what, I was almost beheaded here. Then Alduin came destroyed this place." She said casually.
He sighed, not getting the relevant answer he expected. Ammra walked randomly into a collapsed building with Miraak behind her.
"Tell me about Hermaeus Mora." Ammra started to speak after some moment. " He has many tentacles. But I bet he has his main body, right?"
Miraak began to certain Ammra was up to something again. "He is Daedric prince. He could choose any form." Then he added. "But when we made a contract, he appeared as a giant."
"A contract." She hummed. "If he is interested, he will appear, showing his body. Well, quite common of their kind." Miraak noticed how she think of something while looking for something which nobody in Oblivion knew.
"What are you planning? Why are you asking these?"
"Is it wrong to get to know the Deadric prince someone I like to serve?" she gave him a mischievous smile then ran away before he could grab her. "You cannot catch me, Miraak." She teased while running across the burned hold.
When she heard no reply, Ammra stopped on her track and looked back. Miraak was not there. She turned around as worry began to grow." Miraak!" she called. Damn enemies would attack anytime. Ammra looked for him. "Miraak where are you?"
Suddenly someone snatched her body from behind. A pair of hands made their way around her waist. Ammra gasped then giggled. "Don't test my patience, dovahkiin." He pulled her closer, holding her tight. "Do you know what you just said?"
"I didn't say anything." She giggled then released herself. Miraak only smirked. He was pleased to see her usual lively and mischievous demeanors. He followed her into a collapsed building where she found Ammra examining a wall.
"What are you looking for?" he asked.
"This." She grinned and pressed a hidden button to open secret storage space. There were a few bottles of mead that she was looking for. "Mead with Juniper Berries. Very popular. It became rare ever since Alduin roasted the maker alive."
"But you don't drink. Why would you want it?"
"You'll see." She grinned. His feeling that she was up to something grew bigger.
After she got what she needed, Ammra returned to Breezehome.
Ever since their return from Mephala's cult headquarter, Ammra seldom found Lydia inside the house. She would find the meal ready and a note telling the Jarl had summoned her. Little did she knew that Lydia just wanted to give them some time alone.
Ammra stepped out of the bathtub and dressed. Her first plan went smoothly now her second plan is to restructure the next plans. When she made her way to the study room, she found Miraak was sitting there, scrapping something on a journal.
"Miraak." She called. When he turned to her, giving that deep blue gaze, Ammra almost at a loss of words but she managed to get herself together. Her heart started racing because the topic she would inquire about was quite alien to her. "Um...Thanks for being so kind. I really like having you around." She said while turning away her head, unable to hide her embarrassment.
Miraak remained silent while crossing his arms, enjoying her attempt to remained calm. "And...um...I'm really happy. But, this won't be happening." She added with a sorry tone but suddenly flinched when from the corner of her eye, she noticed him walking closer. "You know...I'll leave Nirn. We will go our separate ways...so..." her words stopped as Miraak stood right before her within a reach. She could sense his calm heartbeat but instead, it was hers which thumping wildly.
"So?" he inquired her to continue.
"So, I cannot accept..." she felt his index finger gently touched her chin and guided her red face to face him. When their eyes met, she felt the gaze that had turned so irresistible.
At the same time, Miraak couldn't help but feel amused by seeing her embarrassed and timid. Something about her sheepish body language and way of talking drew him closer. "I never command you to accept." He told her. "In fact, I don't want to hold you here."
In that very moment, the deeply rooted distrust inside her heart vanished, replaced by a totally new sense of peace that came from acceptance and understanding. She totally didn't expect him to say that. Was he the same Miraak? Was he telling the truth? She was touched.
"I have been analyzing the concept of your portal and found some flaws." He smiled. "Perhaps I could advise something." He noticed a tear rolled down her cheek but she smiled. He usually hated her tears but this time it spoke another thing. She was not in sorrow, instead, she was happy.
He found the person who stood before him was too magnificent to be caged within his grasp. The idea of knowing her happy to get what she wanted, became more interesting. That was what Miraak had been thinking all this time.
There was a moment of silence when their eyes met. Slowly their faces drew closer until finally, their lips met. The yearning touch sent a spark of warmth for both of them.
Sweet...They thought the same
In that brief seconds, she felt her world was thrown away, everything was far and all that existed was them. She felt her body trembling and her knees turned weak. She heard him chuckled then pulled away to kiss her forehead. Miraak was entertained to saw her turned red. She had annoyingly become addictive.
"I won't force you to stay, but seeing you like this, making me want to rethink again." He teased while hugging her. "But even if you are to leave, it doesn't mean I can't cherish your presence while you are here, little one." the woman was too embarrassed to reply.
Ammra felt as if an arrow pierced her chest in a good way.
