They remained in the study room.
"I don't think it's possible for you to return to the time before the incident." He told her as she was reading the analysis he wrote.
She was deep in thought. Not because of what he said but because of what she read. His analysis was so well-written. She could tell Miraak was putting all his effort to help her. However, Miraak mistook her serious face as a hint of sadness. He gently hugged her from behind. She flinched. "Yes?" she gasped.
"I'm sorry if what I said making you sad."
"Anyway." She began. "Hermaeus Mora could access your memory, right? To see what you saw and hear what you heard."
Her sudden change of topic convinced him that Ammra was up to something. "We made a contract and he had my soul. So, the answer is yes." He turned her body to him. "What is it, Dovahkiin? You have been asking about him since this morning."
"Well, I just want to know if it was okay to share more secrets with you." She told him and looked at him in the eye. "Something...more personal."
He raised his brow, "Are you seducing me, Dovahkiin? You should know how dangerous it can be." Ammra just gave him an enigmatic smile.
"I believe your analysis is correct." She turned her body to continue reading the journal. "I cannot prevent the incident, but I can find a way to bring them back to life." She let out a sigh.
"Necromancy?"
"Yes. I'll do everything to revive them." She told him while praying Hermaeus Mora would hear what she said. "Everything." Then she added. "All I need is a portal and some necromancy."
If only she looked at him in the eye while saying that, Miraak would have known how she tried her best to sound so determined. He had told her that he would help, thus he would share whatever knowledge he knew even if he personally felt there was something odd about her purpose now.
Nevertheless, his only concern was to keep Ammra as far as possible from the grip of Hermaeus Mora. He knew the Daedric Prince only want them both as servants. And above all, it wants the orbs. He did not want Ammra to leave, but he hated if she was used by Hermaeus Mora. Therefore, his plan was solely to protect her until she safely returned to her home.
Lydia only returned to Breezehome to prepare dinner then left again to spend the night in Bannered Inn, expecting her thane would have a wonderful night with Miraak. She couldn't imagine how two loving Dragonborn spending their time, so giving them space was the least she could do. Nevertheless, little did she know each Dovahkiin was actually busy working on their own plan.
Ammra had told him that they would visit The Throat of the World in the next day to obtain Akatosh's Blessing. That should be his only chance if he wanted to keep her in Nirn. However, now that he chose a different way, Miraak started to predict any possible way how Mora would attack them. He needed to consider a way to deal with the Daedric prince himself after Ammra left.
The thought of her leaving engulfed him in terrible sadness but he kept it to himself. Perhaps this feeling would fade away after she left. Perhaps he could continue living his secluded life. Or perhaps he would continue more eons inside Apocrypha. Nothing was certain but the only thing that he was sure about was Ammra's safety. As long as he did not comply with Mora's plan, things would run smoothly.
The first Dragonborn sighed, realizing how much he changed. He never thought in this way. Either by force or not, all this time he always had whatever he desired. Strangely, for now, he got sick of forcing his way if it meant to sacrifice what she yearned.
Meanwhile, Ammra locked herself in her room, writing some inheritance letters.
Their journey to Throat of the World was free of troubles ever since Mephala's cult was annihilated. Odahviing landed near the stone wall. They arrived there when the sun had set.
"Hmm...quite strange. He is used to be here." Ammra mumbled.
"Who?"
"Paarthurnax. He is used to be perching on the top of the stone wall." Miraak froze in his track. All this time he thought his old master dead.
A moment later, a loud sound of flapping wings was heard. A huge white dragon appeared amongst the cloud then landed on one of the boulders. "Drem Yol Lok, greetings." He said to Ammra, lowering his head to her level. She hugged his snout in return. "Dovahkiin, your unusual presence called me. But when I arrived here, I think I know why." He turned his head to Miraak.
"I can explain." She said.
"Speak. I will listen."
"He is with me and he is harmless." She explained. "We are here because I need to gather the blessing of Akatosh. And...perhaps this is going to be our last..."
"Geh? What is it dovahkiin?"
Miraak saw how she tried to hide her sadness. "I just need to gather the blessing." She said again, evading the topic. "I will make sure he behaves," she added with a smile.
They both walked to the highest spot they could reach. "You don't need to go home if you are sad about leaving." He said while Ammra dropping her blood into the chalice. She just smiled without replying.
When it is his turn to drop his blood, Miraak paused for a while, he gazed at his left hand where Hermaeus Mora's essence hidden. He was hesitant for some moment then dropped some blood from her right palm. His decision was final.
Ammra conducted the rituals as usual then finally she managed to gather the last blessing.
Although sometimes she sneezed and shivered, Ammra insisted on staying in that place longer. She flew around with Odahviing alone—without Miraak. He could hear cheering from below as Odahviing took her amongst the aurora.
"Hmmm..." Paarthurnax humming. "Ahzid. Bitter time." He turned to Miraak then watched Ammra from below. "She chose a company I did not expect."
"You are close to her after killing Alduin." he started. "How does it feel to lead your Zeymah?"
"She did not tell you, did she?" he replied. "Alduin still alive." Miraak held his breath. There was a combination of joy, terror, guilt, and surprise in his chest. He smirked.
"That's very her. Where is he?" he asked.
"I am sworn to keep it secret unless Dovahkiin let me say it." He paused. "Whatever trick you are planning. She will not fall for it."
Ammra's laughter echoed faintly in the wind. Miraak looked up again to see her, knowing her would miss her voice. "Hi folaas. You are wrong." He answered. Not wanting to explain more.
Being his Vahlok (guardian) for hundred years made Paarthurnax understood what was happening. His dragon sense could tell what the dov inside Miraak currently feeling. "Zu'u mindoraan. I understand now," He paused. "Has she had you ensnared?"
"Geh. Pah du zu'u. It completely consumes me." Even after thousands of years he still felt it was easy to tell everything to his vahlok. "The dov inside me called for her."
Odahviing landed near him. Ammra dismounted and run to Miraak. She gasped, catching for breath. "It was soooo...beautiful. You must see it!" her excited voice made him smile. Miraak put off his cloak and wrapped it around her body. The younger Dovahkiin blushed.
Ammra and Paarthunax spent their time together chatting. When she noticed Miraak was not next to her, she began to look around and found him standing alone near a boulder. He seemed to be observing something on the surface of that cold stone.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"It was here. When I battled the dragons." He said solemnly. "Is it true that you did not kill Alduin?" he asked. Ammra did not answer but he knew it was a 'yes' from her look.
"He found another way."
"Where is he now?"
"He is in Skuldafan." Miraak smiled faintly. "Do—do you." Carefully she added," miss him?"
This time he just pulled her closer between his arms. He felt regret as well as hatred for himself. What he did was unforgivable. Ammra hugged him back.
"Are you still serious about wanting to leave Apocrypha?" she suddenly asked.
"It is not important."
"It is." She said intently.
"Nothing will change. Things cannot be undone."
"Supposed that you Hermaeus Mora let you go. Maybe he is in a good mood." She said half-jokingly. "Will you still walk the moral realm with the same intention as before?"
"May be yes, maybe no. Those joors, Ulfric and Elisif are pathetic." Ammra gently hit her and Miraak chuckled. "I am being honest. It is my dov instinct to dominate."
"Guh. No fun talking to you. Lack of imagination." She attempted to pull away but Miraak held her, not wanting to let go.
He chuckled. "I don't find my initial purpose as attractive again. Somehow, being like this is enough for me."
Suddenly they felt a flush of warm air from their sides. Odahviing who was there all the time lean closer to hear but failed to hide his breath. Ammra laughed. Her face reddened knowing a dragon just eavesdropped on their conversation.
"I started to think that I will stop giving you my blood so you won't leave." Ammra stared at him and pouted. Miraak just smiled. "Mey Kirr, I won't do that."
Ammra kept the secret about Dibella and Mara to herself. "Even if Mora controlled you, you will support me?"
"Yes." He said then sighed. "You are so annoying but I cannot let him touch you."
"What if he kept torturing you? I am sure he wants this divines' power too."
"So be it. He needs a servant and no one is as good as me." Ammra giggled. "I'll protect you."
"He heard you." She said. Miraak narrowed his eyes. "Odahviing heard what you said. Maybe Paarthurnax too. And of course, Mora himself." She grinned. "But do you believe if I say that Akatosh heard you too?"
"I do. And I am happy if he could hear it." His answer made her felt a fluttering sensation.
"Thuri, you changed color to red," Odahviing commented but Ammra just buried her face in his chest.
The moment Miraak chose to ignore the Daedric Prince's order, both of them were preparing their next move. Miraak got himself ready for the attack, while Mora was plotting another way to achieve what it wanted. But little did they know Ammra had a little surprise for them.
