As the demon of the knowledge, he thought he knew everything. Tossing mortals' life away was just another short entertainment. Seeing them suffer and manipulate them was an easy thing. But there was always the time when a hunter was outsmarted by his prey. Hermaeus Mora was about to learn his lesson.
At this point only two beings that capable of detecting the divines' power in Ammra's possession: the Deadric princes and Ammra herself.
The younger Dragonborn was immersing herself inside a warm bathtub right after returning from Throat of the world when suddenly she sensed enemies. She smirked, knowing the domino effect had begun. Ammra was certain Hermaeus Mora noticed the completed orbs.
"I don't take you as of sort who likes to peek a woman taking bath, Mora." she said while turning her head to the ceiling from which he appeared out of thin air.
"My champion..."
"I am not your champion." she napped.
"No. You are not, yet." He stated. "I come to understand your endeavor to construct a time portal, which is impossible for a mortal."
"You came to know this through Miraak's memory, did you?" the Daedric prince chuckled. "You are not the only one who has the knowledge, Mora. You do not know what I am capable of." Ammra being cocky. She crossed her arms and leaned back against the bathtub.
"What I know is you are capable of making portals but not the time arrangements."
She raised her brow. "You sound like you are interested in my project. But you don't know anything at all. You are incapable of aiding me." he chuckled.
"How insolent. You might want to watch your tongue, mortal. For I am the Daedric prin..."
"Yeah, you are the demon of knowledge. So what? "she snapped. "It is meaningless if you can't even turn back time." Ammra felt a stream of heat when she spoke the words. The beast's blood was boiling but as always, she managed to control it and wait.
"You underestimate me." He proudly stated. Ammra smirked because this what exactly she expected him to say. "Not only turning back the time for the portal but I can revive the dead."
Ammra gasped. Her immunity to Daedric Princes' power might protect her from their influence, making Hermaues Mora couldn't read her mind. Nevertheless, he clearly understood that no mortal was ever safe from their own desire, including Ammra. Hermeus Mora knew what she wanted dearly.
"Are you here to brag?" she asked.
"I can sense the power you gathered is complete." He started again. "I only need one champion. Just like how Miraak planned to used your soul to escape Oblivion once, his soul alone is enough for the time portal. And in exchange for reviving your beloved parents, I demand the orbs,"
Hermaeus Mora caught a glimpse of the excitement through her gaze. He knew he got her. Meanwhile, Ammra maintained a calm composure even if she was trembling in excitement, thrill, fear, and of course, doubt. But she could not turn back. Her plan had just started.
"Let me guess," she began. " Since his soul is trapped in your realm, you want me to kill him in Apocrypha?"
"Exactly. Let the First and The Last Dragonborn meet again."
She thought for a while then grinned. "Deal. Let the contract be made,"
He vanished.
When facing their own desire, people often didn't notice how much they could change. When they knew their interest was at stake, their true nature was revealed. Eventually, they fell fight with each other to gain. Many had fallen into this sweet addicting trap.
After mustering all of her courage, Ammra purposefully put down the barrier she planted between them. "See you soon, Miraak."
Meanwhile, one hour earlier before the attack started, Miraak had been waiting in anticipation inside his room. Just right after Ammra locked herself in the bathroom, the first Dragonborn sensed armies of seekers and lurkers of Hermaeus Mora approaching.
He won't let them touch even just a strand of her hair. As the cold night sang the lonesome midnight song, Miraak stood fast outside the house. The cloud blocked the ray of the moon which would be a full moon in few days. Slowly, one by one the sound of cricket ceased as the darkness grew thicker. Until at one blink of an eye, he immediately thrust his staff to the ground, creating a wall of black tentacles to block the shock wave attack from dozens of Seekers.
With a single command, the tentacles swung, charging toward the enemies and pierced through them. Some managed to evade, some were instantly killed. Three lurkers were marching toward him but Miraak shouted them with unrelenting force, then immediately firing chain lightning.
In this realm, Hermaeus Mora couldn't interfere with what he was doing. Miraak was confident everything was under control. He had killed half of the enemies alone until suddenly he felt the sudden cold grip in his heart. It was when Ammra completely dispelled her ward on purpose. Instantly Miraak was wrapped by a black beam of light as he was drawn back to Apocrypha.
Almost at the same time, Ammra stepped out of the bathroom to find Miraak was gone, so did all of the enemies. When she checked the cellar where she hid his mask, it was not there anymore. "Oh Mora, you became predictable." She chuckled.
Now that she had to face him again, Ammra immediately got herself ready and left for Solsteim. She was anxious. She was frightened. But the rush of adrenalin controlled by the beast's blood making her felt an alien urge to move on. This time, she would let it engulf her in a sweet but maniac way and taking advantage of it because perhaps, this was going to be her last full moon.
Once again, as if some kind of recurring sickness, she became fearless.
Meanwhile, Miraak groaned in pain as soon as he was teleported from Tundra Homestead to Apocrypha. He instantly conjured his staff and sword when he saw the enemies. Hermaeus Mora's laughter filled the air. "How interesting." He mocked while watching Miraak fought those creatures alone.
When the battle ceased with the enemies lying dead, Miraak faced the giant cluster of tentacles that sprouted out of the void. "You'd better not touch her."
"You failed to kill her. And you failed to bring me the orbs."
"Whatever you are planning. She will not let you have it and the orbs are not complete yet."
His sinister laughter filled the air. "The gems are complete. Didn't she tell you?" he asked with a mocking tone. "She had acquired the power from Mara and Dibella, even before asking the blessing of Akatosh." It was never his right to question her project but Miraak felt slightly betrayed. "Perhaps she did that to prevent you from not wanting to give your blood for the last divine. She did not want you to get in her way. She didn't trust you,"
Miraak felt his heart sank. "No, she this is not her way."
Hermaeus Mora laughed, knowing doubt started to grow in his heart. "She had betrayed you." he remained silent, not wanting to believe. "You know it better. The lust for power had you turn against the dragons. Your fantasies of returning to the mortal plane, had you enslaved those mortals and." He paused before slowly adding, "using her soul as a mean of escaping me."
Miraak glared at him. All that he said was true. He was too determined. But Mirakk had learned how she resembled him in terms of determination. Seeing more doubt in his face, Hermaeus Mora continued talking. "Her determination made her abduct you. All she wants is returning home."
"Have you done talking?" Miraak asked. In a brief second, he remembered the truth. Ammra might be determined, but he had a different way compared to Miraak. She did not kill him and did not kill Alduin. Miraak realized Mora had been trying to manipulate him.
He chuckled. "You still don't believe in what I said? How interesting." after a brief pause, he added, "Think about this. I was never able to completely draw you back here because of her barrier. Now, why do you think you are here while you were sure the barrier was in a good condition a moment ago?"
His question hit him hard. Miraak understood Ammra did that on purpose. Hermaeus Mora laughed when he noticed how disappointed he was. It was just a few moments in Apocrypha, but several days had passed in the mortal realm and Ammra had arrived in Miraak's temple.
She immediately opened the black book and delved into that wretched place, once again facing Miraak.
