However, there were some who chose another way and underwent the change that transforming them into a better person instead, revealing their true decent nature.
As soon as the book transported her into the oblivion realm, the Daedric prince sensed her arrival. He laughed and conjured more lurkers and seekers to seize Miraak, preparing him for his next plan. "You still think she is good?" he mocked. "No one will be good if facing his own desire. That what made you come to me."
At the same time when he was taking care of Miraak, on the other side of the realm, Hermaeus Mora commanded his army to let Ammra passed without harm. The woman walked steadily, taking control of her warring heart in every step she took.
She knew she might not win and everything might fail, but this was the only way both Dragonborns had. Ammra exhaled, numbly pushed away from her fear as she stepped up the stairs toward the summit of Apocrypha.
Miraak fought his way. But enemies kept on coming from the ooze of dark liquic material that constructed most of Apocrypha. "You have no power here!" he scoffed when he was cornered. The shock spell from the seekers that battered nonstop finally disarmed him. Instantly he was bound by the tentacles that sprouted from the nearby ooze.
At that moment Ammra appeared in his mind. "You fool. Do you think she will come for you?" his sinister voice echoed. "This will teach you a lesson." He added slowly. Miraak gathered every last ounce of his power to resist. The tentacles tied him even tighter. Another tentacle glided closer with his mask.
Miraak grunted but he could not shout. The mask was forcefully put on his face, making him felt his consciousness leaving his body. As his body and consciousness were separated, Miraak found himself slowly emerged inside another room that was inside of Hermaeus Mora. He could see his body was being released and walked to the top of Apocrypha.
"No! this can't be!" he snarled.
"She came as you wanted her to. This is getting interesting. Let's see what she is here for."
Her heart pounding hard the closer she got to the summit. It felt like the nostalgia for the first time they met. Ammra found him standing at the center. When she stopped, Miraak turned around to face her. The mask brought back the memories.
She blinked to hold back her tears, enchanting couraging words 'you can do this' over and over again inside her head. Ammra knew the man before her eyes was not Miraak who she had grown fond of.
Immediately, the fight broke between them after Miraak launched the first attack. Ammra mustered all of her courage to fight him again. She knew Mora would set them into a fight, but her beast blood would help her this time.
Miraak bombarded her with lightning bolts but Ammra swiftly running around the arena to evade. When the position was right, she did a sudden maneuver while throwing a paralyzing knife at him. With a single wave of the hand, a tentacle emerged from a pool and covered him from her attack. But as soon as the tentacle pulled back, Ammra had stood in melee range before him, and landed a gentle thrust on her chest.
Speed was her ultimate weapon in this battle where power was dominated by Miraak. He staggered and fell to his knee. Ammra just locked some of his Magica veins. He quickly stood back to his feet then shout.
Wul...Na...Kest.
The whirlwind sprint thu'um enabled him to dash forward in a blink of an eye. Almost the same time Ammra shouted, Feim...Zii...Gron. Suddenly she became ethereal before Mirak could plunge the blade at her chest.
Ammra sprinted back, making some distance. This time she readied her Deadric sword and immediately block his attack. Her agility helped her dodge the attack while landing several blows using the invisible blade to severe his Magica Vein. She tackled him and almost pinned him to the floor.
Miraak floated back while commanding the tentacles when he found out Ammra was quite dangerous in short distance combat.
The real Miraak witnessed all in agony as his body invoking several Seekers and some Lurkers, from the dark pool. On the other hand, Ammra instantly conjured two Dremora Lord to block them so she could focus on Miraak. Her beast blood howled and she marched forward, attacking him without hesitation with her fast and precise swing of the blade.
"She fought well." Hermaeus Mora talked in his room. "She didn't hold back." He mocked with a cold tone. Even if he hated him, he couldn't more agree because he saw himself how fierce Ammra was. Miraak saw his body pushed itself to the limit to defend.
Ammra did not tear or make an open wound, but her left hand swiftly landed that gentle yet deadly touch. He was glad she could defend herself but quite sad to see how unforgiving she was even when fighting his body.
The fight ended when Ammra roughly kicked him on the chest then put a paralysis spell on him.
"Behold the truth." Another part of the Daedric prince which was inside the room talked to Miraak. "She did not come to save you." Then a burst of sinister laughter filled the air.
"Well, as expected from the last Dragonborn." Another existence Hermaeus Mora appeared above them.
Ammra turned to him. "What now?"
"Kill him. I don't need a traitor." Then slowly he added. "His soul will be enough to revoke the portal to your home and I will revive your parents." Ammra remained silent. "By doing so, I am saving you from the burden of the divines' power you have. Give it to me."
Ammra notice how the Daedric prince grew in size as he materialized from the void to start the contract. This is it. It had better work according to her plan. "So, I just have to kill him and our contract is completed?"
"Yes. You will get what you want. A portal and a family."
Miraak sank in despair as he saw Ammra walked closer to him who was laying paralyzed. She had her sword ready. "She traded you." Hermaeus Mora mockingly spoke inside that room.
Now Miraak knew how it felt to be betrayed. He felt a huge hole inside his chest even though he was in a void state. The was pain and agony. But part of him thought he deserved that after what he did to the dragons. He wanted to groan in anger but suddenly gasped when he noticed Ammra's grin while observing his body. That grin was dangerous for it is too insane to be predicted.
Ammra sheathed her sword and readied both hands with a spell. But in the next split second, she turned around, facing toward the Daedric prince, and fired an ice spear spell that had a purplish glow. Miraak was stunned.
"She did it again! Attacking a Daedric prince in his own realm!"
"FOOL!" Hermaeus Mora roared in anger. Sounds of thunder cracking from the dark sky.
Ammra instantly put off Miraak's mask. His consciousness who had been watching from afar began to be drawn back to his body. "You think you can manipulate me, Mora? You are completely wrong. It took me some time to lure you out." When she noticed Miraak began to stir, Ammra helped him at once.
"Miraak. It is me. Do you recognize me?" she asked with a worried face.
"You.." He couldn't continue because she immediately hugged him dearly.
"I'm sorry I put you in danger. This is the only way to lure his main body out,"
She did that insane thing again and dare to use him as bait. Miraak had never felt so caught off guard in his whole life.
Meanwhile, the sky of Apocrypha swirled in black and green color rapidly with its thunder roaring. The pages of the book that used to swirl around like a tornado now floating in mess.
"We must hurry. I need your help to fend off the next attack," she told him while reopening the lock she did and heal him at the same time.
Soon they jumped to their feet with their weapons ready when Hermaeus Mora appeared in the sky. "So, this is what you choose." He laughed. "You are a fool to do that and give me all the orbs." Miraak noticed a purple glow inside his dark body.
"Shut your damned mouth if you have one!" she cursed. Her beast blood started acting up. "You might think we cannot kill you. It is true. But that bitch Mephala can." Ammra took out a small purple crystal from her pocket then gaze at Miraak, "Told ya, this crystal could be of use." she muttered then stab her fore palm.
Instantly she was brought back to see the scene she was killed. This time she let the pain and sorrow filled her chest. Neither Hermaues Mora nor Miraak knew that Ammra had engraved all of the orbs inside the same crystal and used ice spell as the media to shoot it. While she let her life force be drained, the same purple crystal in Mora's celestial body grew brighter.
With her sorrow feeding Mephala and the gems completed, Ammra opened a crack in Apocrypha for Mephala to sneak in. The ground shook as the wind swiftly blew. The tentacles that sprouted from the sky glided viciously as another existence of power tried to break into their realm.
Hermaeus Mora materialized into a giant black figure made of tentacles. The purple glow was inside the position of the heart should be. But there were other tentacles that grew without control and attacking his own body. It was Mephala trying to take control and take possession of the gems.
Without any more explanation, Miraak understood her plan. Ammra managed to set two Daedric Princes into a duel. She groaned in pain then pulled the crystal from her palm. Miraak immediately caught her before she collapsed. Her attempt to attract Mephala took half of her remaining energy. He helped her to stand straight.
When her eyes caught by his gaze, Ammra couldn't decide what she must say. It said a lot of unspoken feeling he had for her and Ammra thought perhaps her gaze showed the same thing too.
He sighed, "Have you done yet with all of your plans?"
Ammra chuckled, "Not yet." she answered as she walked toward a pillar where she previously put her satchel and took out two bottles of Mead with Juniper berries.
"What—" Miraak couldn't find a right word to say when she handed her the bottle.
She grinned. "This is one of my plans. We enjoying the show while the being that harmed us all this time fight each other" She said in laid back tone then took a sip from her bottle.
"I should have known ever since we arrived in that ruin," he took the bottle.
She chuckled then turned her head to watch the giant tore itself apart while at the same time regenerated only to destroy itself again.
Sheepishly, her trembling hand made its way to hold one of his hands. When she noticed him turning his head to her, Ammmra quickly turned away, hiding her embarrassment. She was so glad Mora had not done anything bad yet. Miraak was too perfect to be a servant that even Hermaeus Mora wouldn't let him go easily.
"After I found out the truth about my past, I think this is the most interesting thing to try. I don't want to carry those orbs. The power source can be a source of the problem too." She told him. "But most importantly, I have a dov inside me and I'm an alpha too, you are my hostage, and... I'll make you completely mine," she spoke the last sentence fast enough so Miraak wouldn't clearly hear it. He smirked because of her bold claim then finished the bottle.
Was it wrong to call this a date? Amidst the chaotic surrounding, they found a brief moment of having each other. It was as peculiar as it seemed but somehow they got used to it already. In fact, Miraak was content and Ammra was never so comfortable in her life.
It was indeed a short moment for in the next second, both of them sense enemies approaching. She felt him holding her hand more tightly for some moment, giving her a silent reassurance. Then with a mutual understanding, they let go and ready themselves.
Ammra who began to be a little bit tipsy only because of few gulps threw the bottle away then conjured Dremora Lord while Miraak conjured his staff. They stood back to back, both making sure their partner remained protected.
"You owe me a lot of explanation after this, little one," he told her.
