Mephala's power began corrupting the whole body of Apocrypha. The ground shook hard as if a terrible earthquake took place. Ranks of Lurkers and Seekers under his control were attacking their own kinds, who still obeyed Hermaeus Mora. Every time one creature died, another one emerged from the dark inky sea. Since this happened on both sides, their clash of power creating a never-ending cycle of battle throughout the realm.
"Filthy little mortal!" Hermaeus Mora's voice echoed throughout the sky. His wrath was inevitable yet he had Mephala to take care of first.
The tower where Miraak and Ammra stood began to shake when a giant made of tentacles approaching. In the next second, the giant winced as more tentacles of Mephala materialized and grew from its body and began to feed on other limbs. The giant roared in pain and wrath, one hand tearing apart the dark-purplish tentacles from its body. Both Dovakiins knew the final battle was drawing near.
Mul Qah Diiv...
Miraak readied himself, changing to his battle mode. Ammra gazed at him for a moment and secretly smiled seeing him covered by the ethereal set of dragon armor. Its glow radiated a strong power.
"This reminds me of how we first meet." She muttered.
Hermueus Mora didn't allow them to escape. A loud thud echoed from the sea below the tower. The dark sea was heaving, and as if a huge wave, a clump of dark liquid rose then drew near. When it washed the edge of the summit, the dark liquid turned into dozens of Lurkers and Seekers. Without giving any more second, as soon as they materialized, all Seekers fired their electrical wave toward both Dragonborns.
Ammra and Miraak responded fast. He swiftly conjured a barrier out of the same dark tentacles before them to block the attack. As soon as enemies stopped, Ammra took it as a sign to commence her action. She darted to the right while at the same time unsheathing Daedric swords on both hands. The young Dragonborn stepped out from the barrier and charged from the rear side with her Dremora Lords. The three began mowing the enemies mercilessly while Miraak swept the rank of Lurkers with his tremendous magic.
Yol...Toor...Shul... Miraak roared the fire breath thu'um.
Krii...Lun...Aus... the marked for death thu'um echoed from another side of the battle field.
Both Dragonborns unleashed their powers, turning the summit of the tower into a site of carnage. Their thu'um came one after another, roaring under the sky that had turned into a combination of green and purple as half of the realm had been under Mephala's control. The elder Dragonborn fought his way to Ammra. When he quickly noticed she was about to be smashed from behind, Miraak instantly fired the attacker with the lightning bolt. They immediately stood back-to-back again while the flock of Seekers encircled them.
"It is time," Ammra said. "Mephala and Mora have been merging enough."
"What is your plan?"
"Can you clear them out of this place first? They're kinda smelly." She jested.
He grimly chuckled and commanded her, "Stay close to me!"
Miraak mustered his magica and cast the blizzard spell. Instantly a strong whirlwind of ice pushed the enemies off the tower. Frost covered some areas after the spell wore off. Instantly no they were left alone. "As expected from him." she thought.
Ammra knew it was a master-level spell and he used it as if it was nothing. She quickly turned to him. "The power of the divines can kill the Daedric prince." She told him while watching the giant in distance. "We need to do it while they are distracted."
"But you just gave them the orbs."
"Your blood can seal the power inside the Primal Soul Gems. But with your command, it can also unleash them. Without the soul gem, divines power would be harmful toward Daedric princes." She explained.
Miraak briefly glanced at the giant and started to think those Daedric Princes were pitiful. They're now fighting each other over a source of power without knowing its danger. Ammra made a perfect manipulation. She used their lust of power against them. When Miraak noticed how she grinned while watching the giant tearing itself apart, a mild horror ran down his spine. As the first Dragonborn, he might be powerful, but Ammra was more dangerous with her unpredictable plan.
Another roar of thunder cracked the sky. Ammra inhaled and exhaled deeply, trying to suppress her beast blood. It was natural for werewolves to howl in satisfaction when they saw their enemies dead, dying, or suffering. A wild addictive but dark satisfaction danced inside her body seeing Mephala and Hermaeus Mora killing each other. In fact, the thought of her shifting into a werewolf and jumped into their battle to devour them flashed in her head.
She shook her head to remain sane. She turned to him and reaching out her hand. "The power in my blood will let you connect to the orbs. When it happens, release them and it will explode. We will kill two birds with one stone."
He smirked. "You will destroy your only chance to go home."
"I am home." She said innocently but he detected some mild mischief in her voice and a hint of deeply hidden sadness. At that moment, the ground shook again. The dark liquid that covered the land of Apocrypha was heaving. "Come on, let's hurry!" she exclaimed.
Miraak could feel the resonance from the orbs after he touched Ammra's hand. With a command from his mind, he released the divines' power followed by the tremendous explosion within the body of the giant.
Because her blood was connected as well, Ammra winced when she sensed the power. The roar of anger from both of the Daedric Princes fell around them. The sky was collapsing and the ground shook. "There will be nine explosions," she told him. "As Hermaeus Mora weakened, his grip on you would severe. That meant you could leave this realm easily as I do."
"Yes. But I'll need to do it in a portal he has" he replied. "This way!" his grip on her hand tightened as Miraak pulled her along. He had been living inside that place for centuries so he knew where it was located.
Three explosions happened in less than a minute. The tower slowly crumbled. Both Dragonborns ran while killing the enemies that got in their way. Mephala and Mora notice that they had fallen to Ammra's trap began to conjure more Seekers as well as Lurkers to stop them.
Ammra kept her sense sharp during their attempt to escape. The thrill, the fear, and the heat of the battle pumped her blood. However, in that chaotic influence, between her own self and the beast self, she found a flicker of bliss as she gazed at him from behind.
Miraak was unstoppable. He swiped away the enemies easily. Her attention turned to his back, she secretly smiled when the thought of how comfortable it would be when leaning against it came to her head. Her heart started aching but she concealed it while holding back tears. She must continue her plan!
Came the Fourth explosion.
The thunder and lightning cracked the skies and giant tentacles went rampant.
Fifth explosion.
"They are getting more!" she cried from behind, both hands swung the blade. "Are we still far?"
Apocrypha was collapsing and so did their path. Miraak sometimes needed to conjure the tentacles and turned them into a bridge. Ammra gasped for air and they ran faster.
The wind blew stronger as it slowly turned into a storm. If they were not careful enough, it might blow them away.
The sixth explosion thundering, literally cracking the ground open.
A shriek escaped her throat as Ammra fell. Luckily Miraak was fast enough to grasp her hand and immediately puller her up then continue running. Ammra followed him behind while protecting both of them from the rear. At the same time, Miraak fired his lightning spell, roared the fire breath or unrelenting force thu'um one after another to clear the way. He was sharp to notice the Seekers who fired them from afar, so Miraak conjured the dark tentacle to kill them. He had her with him and we would make sure they're leaving that wretched place.
Seventh explosion...
There was a loud roar from the giant that was tearing itself to pieces.
"There it is!" he exclaimed. There was a place with piled books not far before them. Ammra gasped and readied herself. Her jaw tightened as sadness grew bigger. Still, she managed to hide it from Miraak.
Miraak swung his staff and activated the portal. The books floated and opened themselves. As the pages loosened from the books and swirled around, a beam of green light emerged.
Eighth explosion.
When they were close enough, giant tentacles immediately sprout from the ground and covering the place, separating them from the portal.
"You think you can escape..." the voice echoed—a combination of Hermaeus Mora and Mephala.
They turned to each other and nodded.
Fus...Ro...Dah...
They shouted together, mustering all the power they had left. The wall shattered and both Dragonborns rushed forward. However, the portal had been destroyed. Miraak felt Hermaeus Mora's grip in his soul fading however his laughter filled the air.
"You cannot escape." he roared. "You will die here..."
Without Miraak noticing it, Ammra had prepared herself. She immediately conjured a sphere of ward spell to cover them form the ninth explosion,
However...at the same split second...
Miraak felt his hands were directed by both of her hands to stab her while he was off guard--again. His eyes widened as he saw her pained face but she forced a smile.
"This..." she winced out of pain. "my ultimate...plan...use my soul...for portal...you...free..."
The ninth explosion was tenfold more destructive as it washed away the whole plane with a wave of power, resembling a nuclear explosion. Ammra gasped when her ward rocked as the stream of explosion passed them. "I made a nuclear bomb, I'm Einstein." she thought sadly.
As she felt her soul taken away to form a portal for him, tear rolled down. "Thank...you...Miraak"
"Ammra...No..." She slowly collapsed.
She had been living with some broken part in her mind. She did not trust any kind of relationship, believing that love was nothing but lies. But he fixed her. He mended the wound she never knew she had. Therefore, he deserved the sacrifice she was doing. It worth it.
Their surrounding turned blurred as they were transported through realms. "NOOOO!!!" He roared in agony.
He was fooled two times in a row by her, completely ragdolling him amidst her plans. Miraak closed his eyes in pain as he sensed her life faded. His mind couldn't register what just happened. He couldn't believe she died when she was so close within his reach.
"You finally here." A voice spoke behind him. His eyes yanked opened to find Ammra had disappeared. He immediately turned around to find her, instead, he saw a white dragon with golden eyes.
The dragon was not like any other of its kin, nor like any other dragon, Miraak has ever laid eyes on. Its scales shimmered like diamonds.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"It seems my blessing upon you have been directed to the intended path. She did as I predicted."
Miraak came to understand who the Dragon was. "Are you Akatosh?"
"Geh. That's how the joor called me." He answered. "Balance must be restored. She kept Alduin alive, therefore, you will not cease to exist to maintain the balance."
"You revived her, making her went through all of that just to make me do your bidding?"
"Geh. Dragons are mortal, by nature they want to reign and dominate the mortal realm. With your existence as a Dragonborn, it will prevent that from happening."
"Take your blessing from me. Find someone else." He replied. "I do not want to meddle between mortal and dragon's affair."
"Then what do you seek, my child?"
"You know it already," he replied angrily. "I want her back!" seeing Akatosh remained silent he continued. " I have the dov inside me, thus I share their dominant tendency. I will want to reign the mortals. The history will repeat itself. So if you want me to maintain the balance, let me have my balance too. Give her back to me!"
"Alas, it is not that easy to revive her again."
"Do you want me to help you maintain balance or not? My condition is only one...father."
"Then be sworn to eternally maintain the balance together. You will have to take her along your duty. Tides of civilization would be everchanging but both of you would remain."
"I accept your offer." he immediately agreed, impatient to see Ammra again. He was angry, he was worried, he was sad, he was anxious. Ammra made her felt all of those feeling together at the same time and he swore to yell until his heart content.
Meanwhile Ammra drifted away and ended up in Hircine's realm. She found herself inside a forest, standing amongst the wolves so sat quietly. Hircine appeared before her as a man. A pair of elk's horns adorned his head. He gazed at her.
She noticed they were watching her, the very person who had just killed two Daedric Prince. Hircine smirked at her. "You don't belong here, yet." he sensed her soul was taken back.
Ammra couldn't resist the force that pulled her in a speed of light yet mild. It was blurred until suddenly she gasped for air and everything turned vivid. She was breathing again and stood in Miraak's temple. At the same time, in Akatosh's realm, Miraak felt his body was gently blown away as his surrounding turned white. In the next second, he came back to the mortal realm next to the Tree Stone at his temple. He quickly found Ammra stood before him.
She looked up to the night sky, staring into space. Ammra was trying to register and process everything. "I'm supposed to be dead...Miraak...where is he..."
She gasped when he sensed his presence. As Ammra turned around, her heart cheered in joy. They ran to each other and finally he wrapped her between his arms.
"How dare you killed yourself..." he couldn't continue. Miraak was at a loss for words but ignored it as he enjoyed having her between his arms, at last. "Mey Kirr, do you have any idea what have you done?!" he spoke in an annoyed tone as he pulled away.
He took a deep breath. How dare this girl played with his emotions! She was so annoying but also addicting and Miraak couldn't help but smiled. Ammra cupped his face with one hand then suddenly pinched him. He roared in annoyance. "What's that for?!"
"To make sure it is not a dream," she replied innocently.
Miraak did not utter a single word. Instead, he pulled her closer and landed his lips on hers, making her body tensed because of his sudden kiss. She started to tremble and her heart beating faster. She wanted to pull away but Miraak did not let her go. It was entertaining for him to see how the fierce warrior like her turned so shy and clumsy whenever he did that. So Miraak led her arms around his neck then his hands made their way around her waist.
He had been waiting for this and he wouldn't let go until he felt content. Meanwhile, Ammra was about to die of a heart attack. She felt her body turned into liquid and eventually gave in.
When he pulled away, he saw how red she was. "I was being lenient by letting you continue your plan. Now that I know your choice, don't even think I'd let you go." he rested his forehead on hers.
She felt her cheeks burning.
"Ammra."
It was a rare thing for him to call her by name and this time, his tone was even deeper and solemn, sending a chill sensation on her back, "Hi los dii, dovahkiin. Dii Yol." each dragon tongue he whispered was like the enchantment of mantra and sacred spell.
Little did Ammra knew it meant: You are mine, Dragonborn. My fire and flame. Even if she was oblivious of the meaning, the dov inside her body received the message, knowing exactly that they had chosen to be each other's mate for eternity.
