Day 1
"You again!" Miraak exclaimed when he saw the last Dragonborn appeared out of the thin air. The first time they met, he had made himself and his goals clear before sending her back to Tamriel. Now she returned, looking confused as hell.
"WAIT!" She cried while evading the lightning bolt fired at her. Miraak showed no hesitation to kill her. "DAMN YOU SHEOGORATH! OUT OF ALL MORTALS WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE HIM!" she ranted while running away, hiding from one pillar of books.
Ammra had lost a bet with the Daedric Prince and thus she must do his request to serenade a particular man for 30 days straight. After the serenade, she was required to place some roses near the man. If she failed, Sheogorath would turn her into a cheese.
After few seconds under the rain of his destructive spells, finally, Ammra made her move. "YOU ARE THE MOON IN MY STARLESS NIGHT!" She shouted while conjuring ward to block his spell. Hatred making her voice rang harshly regardless of the sweet words that escaped her mouth.
Miraak hesitated for a brief second, unsure of what he heard. Yet, he resumed attacking. "YOU ARE THE SUN IN MY TIMELESS SKY!" her words followed by a blast of chain lightning that burned the scattered books. Spark of anger turned into an inferno inside her chest but Ammra refrained herself from attacking. "YOU'RE MY DOWNFALL, YOU'RE MY MUSE!"
Ven Gaar Nos...
He let out the cyclone thu'um. Ammra shrieked as she escaped the devastating wind. "FUCK YOU! CAN'T YOU SEE I AM SERENADING YOU WITH POETRY!"
"Begone false Dragonborn! Your foolishness will be your undoing!"
"YOU'RE MY WORST DISTRACTION, MY RHYTHM AND BLUE!" she yelled fast and loud then five roses were conjured on her right palms, indicating the verse of the poetry made by Sheogorath was complete. Thus, she may leave the place.
"Enough of this nonsense!" Miraak burst in disgust.
"Whatever, jerk!" she threw the roses to him. The harmless flowers hit his chest then fell to his feet. "Bye, sucker!" she stuck out her tongue then disappeared.
Day 2
It was either morning or evening or whatever—we can't tell the time inside Apocrypha. The Seekers were peacefully reading books when suddenly the dome of the hall shook. A spell hit the outer wall as Miraak bombarded Ammra. She ran swiftly around him to avoid the attack while doing the same thing.
"I FOUND A MAN!" she jumped then rolled to hide behind a statue. "BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET!" Ammra cursed Sheo for his choices of words. Miraak was definitely not beautiful and sweet!
"SILENCE!" Miraak yelled back in a blatant annoyance. He stormed toward her hiding place.
"I NEVER KNEW YOU WERE SOMEONE WAITING FOR ME!....Fus ro dah!" she shouted to pushed him back and keep the distance between them. Her hands were itchy to attack back. "AND I DON'T DESERVE THIS...YOU LOOK PERFECT TODAY."
As soon as the roses appeared on her grip, Ammra did the same. The roses ended up on his feet. Before she completely vanished, she saw how Miraak stomp on the flowers in disgust and anger. "FUCK YOU AND YOUR EVERYTHING!" she yelled.
This kept happening until day twelve. There were more and more roses lying on every spot in Apocrypha because Ammra just appeared whenever Miraak happened to be. He would immediately attack her but Ammra never fought back. She kept on serenading him with her harsh voice.
Day 13
Their eyes immediately met when she appeared. Ammra instantly turned on her heels to run but she noticed he didn't move an inch. She could feel his glare behind his mask.
"Not gonna attack?!"
"Why are you doing this?"
"I have no choice." She replied. "If I don't do this, Sheogorath will turn me into a cheese and that'll make you lose your chance to fight me. So, just let me do this since I am not allowed to attack you anyway."
"Hmph!" his proud voice rung. "Get over with it and begone!" he turned to her, standing still with a pose that was more than ready to strike, in case Ammra did something to attack him. "Make it quick..."
"I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair." She interrupted. This time not shouting. The quiet place highlighted her voice. There was a pause as both Dovahkiin were stunned by the line. The next line even came without Ammra could stop,
I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day
I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps
Miraak moved a bit and Ammra finched, ready to run. But he stood still. Her palms became sweaty. They went silent then Ammra continued. "Till we meet again. I will tell you the rest of the poetry." This time she threw the rose on him then vanished.
Day 14
Miraak was busy reading his masterplan of escaping Apocrypha for the hundredth time when Ammra materialized several feet before him. The girl immediately stepped back.
"How long will you do this?"
"30 days straight."
He remained silent and just faced her. Ammra cleared her throat as she let words chosen by Sheogorath came to her head.
I hunger for your sleek laugh,
your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.
This time they were left speechless again by the words she spoke. Ammra looked away as soon as the poetry ended while she threw the roses and immediately vanished.
Day 15
They were at the summit of Apocrypha. Miraak was trying to conjure a portal when he sensed her presence. Both Dragonborns were still wary to each other. So Miraak did the same thing like he did the day before; standing still and watched her. however, Ammra was left speechless when she saw him without his usual mask.
For a brief second, she was captivated by the pair of blue orbs. His piercing gaze perfectly adorned the masculine face. Miraak was surprisingly beautiful for an evil man.
"It seems you are not tired of this nonsense," he sneered. The smug voice snapped her sense back to reality.
"Thanks for cooperating. Once I am free from this, I promise you our battle will be legendary."
He smirked to mock her. "Make it quick!"
She clicked her tongue and began. At this rate, Ammra was slightly anxious of the words she could get from Sheo. But she had no choice. It was part of the deal. She must chant those words to keep her end of the bargain, else, she'd end up as someone else's food.
I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face.
Ammra bit her tongue. But she noticed Miraak narrowed his eyes then maintained his stoic face. "Of course, such words won't affect him, would it?" she thought.
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,
She finished the verse or the poetry. When the rose appeared, she thought it had ended, but Sheogorath added another verse.
and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight,
hunting for you, for your hot heart,
like a sabrecat in the barrens of nowhere
Ammra hesitantly threw the rose to him then disappeared, leaving Miraak speechless. What on Mundus he just heard!
After that day, her words echoed in his head. He began to get accustomed to the smell of the rose around him. Miraak noticed they did not wilt. When he happened to pass the place where he stomped on the rose, it remained fresh. Without he noticed, the flowers slowly duplicated themselves and grew their roots.
Day 19
"This place reeks your foolish flowers." He mocked her.
"Can't be helped. They are made of my Magica." She told him. "Try to throw it away to the dark pool down there."
"I will not touch it and you are not in the position to give an order."
"It was a suggestion." She talked back.
"Don't make me start attacking you."
She rolled her eyes then waiting for the poetry from Sheo. Few minutes passed but nothing came from him. Ammra grew anxious. No poetry meant no rose. No rose meant no escape from that place. She was not ready for a battle yet if she had to be trapped there.
"What's the matter noisy one?"
"Umm...Sheogorath did not send me any poetry yet...so..." even if this time he had his mask on, Ammra could sense he raised his eyebrow. He was impatient for her disappearance.
See the mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdained its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth
And the moonbeams kiss the sea:
What is all this sweet work worth
If you kiss not me?
Had it not for the memory of how evil he could be, Ammra would have burst into laughter because of her own cheesy poetry. Fortunately, the rose appeared in her grip. "Not bad," she heard Sheogorath whispering. Only then she learned he purposefully remained silent.
Ammra gazed at Miraak. This time she did not throw the flower. Instead, she walked closer and carefully placed the flowers on the floor, few steps away from him. Then she vanished as usual.
Miraak stood in his place. Somewhat the silence that followed her disappearance had grown increasingly torturing from the moment she started this thing. "Fool!" he thought. After a thousand years in Apocrypha, Miraak might begin to yearn a companionship.
He clicked his tongue and dismissed the weak-heart thoughts.
Day 20
When Ammra appeared in Apocrypha, Miraak was not nearby. At first, she thought it was just another trick of Sheogorath. She sighed then started to wander around to find him. After a while, suddenly giant Lurkers and High Seekers began to emerge and attack her. Ammra fought her way across the Apocrypha until she arrived at a wide place where he found Miraak.
For the first time, she was glad to see her enemy. This could only one thing: escape from Apocrypha. However, as she approached him, Ammra noticed black tentacles that wrapped his feet. When she noticed another tentacle that was about to stab him from behind, Ammra fired an Icy Spear to freeze it.
She ran to him and immediately used her ice magic to help him escape from the black tentacles. It seemed he had been fighting with it for hours and he was not with his mask.
"Good. You can be useful now." He muttered then Miraak began attacking the enemies. Given his powerful magic, Miraak could easily wipe them all. On the other hand, Ammra who was still unsure of the situation chose to just watch his back.
During their battle, she coincidently found his mask was lying at the corner. It was burned and cracked as if it had gone through some serious attack.
"It's quite strange to see them attacking you." She muttered after the last seeker was killed. He stared at her with a piercing gaze. "I mean...You guys are friends...maybe..."
"I am leaving this place." He finally spoke. "Hermaeus Mora found out my plan."
"Ah...You will conquer Tamriel." She recalled his plan. "Will you do it the same as what you do to the people of Solstheim?"
"It was not my doing." He answered. "It was him." Ammra gave the confused look. "Just do what you need to do and leave." This time his tone was not as harsh as it used to be.
Until that moment, Ammra forgot that Sheogorath did not supply her with the poetry yet. So, this time, she made it up by herself.
I am sure of one thing
Loved deeply by you would give me strength
While
Loving you deeply would give me the courage
When the roses appeared in her hand, only then she realized they stood close to each other. Now her problem was being unsure to throw it since they were too close or to put it on the floor, which would make her prone to his attack. So, this time, she reached out her hand and gave it to him. To her surprise, Miraak accepted the flowers.
"Do you think you can escape me, Miraak!" Hermaeus Mora's voice echoed.
Ammra jolted in shock. All this time she thought Miraak and the Daedric Prince were in a good term that benefited each other. She turned to him. "Will you be okay?" Ammra instinctively asked. The first Dragoborn smirked when noticing her concerned face. However, a spark of unfamiliar warmth and joy gleamed inside his chest.
"You have no idea what I am capable of, little one." He told Ammra before she completely disappeared.
As the young Dragonborn returned to the mortal realm, she grew impatient to see him again the next day. Strangely she kept on wondering if he was doing fine.
Day 21
She was glad this time she found him the moment she appeared in Apocrypha. Miraak continued his reading while letting Ammra finished her poetry. This time, the First Dragonborn was comfortable enough to let her stand behind his back. In fact, he had been killing Hermaeus Mora's henchmen for hours prior Ammra's arrival. Therefore, her presence now gave him a sense of relief. For some reason, he felt safer with her around.
Meanwhile, this time Sheogorath supplied her with the same poetry.
I crave your mouth, your voice, your hair.
Silent and starving, I prowl through the streets.
Bread does not nourish me, dawn disrupts me, all day
I hunt for the liquid measure of your steps
I hunger for your sleek laugh,
your hands the color of a savage harvest,
hunger for the pale stones of your fingernails,
I want to eat your skin like a whole almond.
I want to eat the sunbeam flaring in your lovely body,
the sovereign nose of your arrogant face.
I want to eat the fleeting shade of your lashes,
and I pace around hungry, sniffing the twilight,
hunting for you, for your hot heart,
like a sabrecat in the barrens of nowhere
Miraak turned to see her and noticed she was trying to hide her blushing face. "You have nine days left." He told her then smirked. Ammra blinked twice to see such enchanting eyes. "Why do you still alive after making so many roses out of your magica?"
Ammra shrugged. "I am not sure either. Perhaps it is Sheogorath's doing."
"What sort of agreement did you get yourself into?"
"Nothing." She replied wryly. "He just suddenly took me to his realm and made me bet in his Skeevers race. And of course, I lost." She caught him smiling a bit then turned away.
"Umm....if you don't mind...Why does Mora control the people?"
"Hermaeus Mora needs me as a vessel. Unlike other Deadric Prince, he is the only one that cannot transform into human form."
"That was why you want to escape?"
"That was one of the reasons." Miraak stared at her then looked away. "How is Tamriel now?"
His question was unexpected. "Well...actually, people keep on killing themselves in a civil war. The high king position is still debated. At some point, I wish Alduin was still alive to scare them so they will not wage the war." She chuckled wryly. "If you managed to return, I hope we will not meet each other."
"Why?"
"I am tired of fighting. Plus, it felt lonely after Alduin is gone. I slightly regret killing him and...if we fight and I win, it might double the regret..."
"So, you are certain you will win against me?" he asked proudly but this time it was more friendly. Ammra just giggled then placed the roses on the table next to him. After she disappeared, Miraak just smiled.
Day 22
Even if one couldn't discern day from night while being in Apocrypha, Miraak was an exception. He knew that roughly a day had passed in the mortal realm but Ammra did not show up yet. He waited. He could not believe he wanted her presence. Yet, as the time flew by, the more anxious he became.
The torturing feeling reached its peak when he noticed the pile of roses started to wilt and disintegrated to ashes. He immediately knew something was not right. Luckily the roses were made of her magica—and there were many of them—Miraak could turn that amount of Magica to teleported him to the mortal realm temporarily.
As he crossed the realm, soon he found himself standing among corpses. He heard Ammra's voice from several meters away. Miraak immediately ran to her and saw she was caught up in a battle against a horde of vampires. Her comrades had fallen and she was left alone defending a defenseless village. Before his time ran out, Miraak immediately aided her in battle.
When two Dragonborns worked together, nothing could stop them. Soon they managed to keep the defense until they killed them all. It was sunrise when the last vampire was slain but Ammra was badly injured. Before she collapsed, Miraak reached her and carried her back to Apocrypha where he tended her wounds.
She was unconscious for several hours due to exhaustion and blood loss. But when she opened her eyes, she found Miraak next to her side.
"Am I dead?" she asked while trying to sit.
"Sadly, not yet." He replied. There was something in his tone that making Ammra knew he did not mean what he said. Perhaps he was trying to joke.
"You saved me. But why did you bring me here?"
"You still owe me 9 days of your serenade." He said then boldly continued, "In addition, I want to see you."
That was how their feeling for each other started to grow deeper.
