There is no stopping now, not that I have had the chance to hold her, to feel how she reacts to my touch. It’s as if she reads what I want from her before I know it myself. Her fingers slipping into my hair, grip tightening.
My body quivers as she tries to pull me impossibly closer. Eden’s chest rises and falls in rhythm with mine as if we were meant to be and right now, fuck, right now, we might as well be.
It takes all the restraint I can muster to not reach down and grab her ass, lifting her and taking her to the room. Instead, I take two steps back only for her to follow me with a needy groan rumbling through her body that makes me grin against her lips. She is just as lost in this as I am.
Eden’s hands softly brush down my cheeks, jaw and then my neck as she drags them down my chest muscles, stopping at my stomach where she pulls away, lips kissed raw and a look of sheer desire in her eyes.
She feels out my abs, her breathing hitches as she reaches the top of my jeans. She lingers only for a moment before she snaps her eyes shut and yanks them away. Eden is retreating, I can feel it and instead of chasing after her lips and warmth like I want more than anything else, I remain unmoved, eyes watching on high alert.
“I’m sorry,” she whispers, her brown eyes lifting to meet mine as I give her a sly smirk.
“I’m not.” I tell her truthfully. “Hell, I’d like to keep kissing you, if you let me.”
Eden pauses, trapping her lower lip in her teeth and it only fuels the growing flames in the pit of my stomach. I want her lips to be between my teeth. And that small huffing breathes to be something I inhale, rather than losing it to the air in here.
“You would?” She asks, eyes wide as her cheeks blush, and I nod, closing the distance again. I tilt my head to the right, capturing her lips just as she opens her mouth. Her tongue swipes over the gap in my lips, drawing a moan from me. She is inexperienced, using this to learn, to explore and explore. I let her, allowing her to lead as I meet her tongue with mine and she melts into my arms.
Her hands rest on my lower abdomen, arms shaking as I reach my fingers through her hair, tipping her chin back to deepen the kiss. There is no place for determining how long we relish each other’s lips and mouths, only coming up for the occasional breath of air.
She giggles once, then she grows more bold, her fingers slipping under the hem of my shirt, tickling across my skin as I squirm under her delicate touch.
“Couch?” I suggest to her and she nods, lost for words as she pushes me into the living room. I whip us around, the pair of us falling into the deep couch with playful giggles. My body lands between her legs, one knee high and perched, while the other leg remains straight to my other side.
“Too heavy?” I ask, stroking the hair from her face as she smiles unlike I have ever seen before.
“No,” she says back, her fingers stroking circles over my stomach as I shudder. “That feel good?”
“So good,” I admit. “You are stunning, Eden.”
“You already told me I looked pretty.” She teases and I shake my head, needing her to really hear the words, to see that I feel them.
“I mean, you are truly stunning.”
“Just kiss me? Okay?” She insists, but phrases it as a question. The mood is changing, her movements more rigid as I lose her to reality and I can’t help but frown.
“We can not take this beyond that.” I remind her and she nods, her hips lifting as she tries to get more comfortable, but she brushes over my pelvis and I groan, my eyes closing as a wave of pleasure washes over me.
One brief touch? What the fuck is wrong with me? I’m the one who just told her nothing more than a make-out session, and yet here I am, ready to blow at the simplest of innocent movements.
“Whoops,” she says coyly, and I blink at her before grinning wide.
“Shit, you are much more trouble than you let on, Eden.” I whisper, moving closer to her lips again.
Her hands reach up, gripping my shoulders and yanking me flush to her as she kisses me again. I move my lips to her cheek, then down her jawline, chasing the gasps and trying to learn every spot that sets her off. Her body acts like a magnet.
Every time there is space, it finds it and closes the distance with a rush. When I make it to her neck, my lycan tries to take over, his feral thoughts of lust and love and babies, take hold for too long as she yelps in surprise and I shake away the haze, looking at the blood I have drawn.
Her entire body shakes as her hands stop moving and her breathing changes. I rear back, looking at her as I grip her chin, forcing her to look at me.
“I didn’t mark you.” I tell her with certainty. Though it was damn close. Too close and my lycan will be dealing with the consequences of fighting for control.
“Are you sure?” She asks, fear written all over her face.
“Positive. My teeth just scrapped over you.” I brush the hair from her face again. Trying to be encouraging as she presses her hand over her neck. “Are you okay?”
“I…I don’t know.” She whispers, tears now forming in her eyes. “I can’t do this…”
“Then we are done.” I assure her as I jump up, hands in the air. “Zero pressure. You are in control here.”
“Well, fuck, she better be,” Leoni says from the doorway behind me and my heart falls.
“Fuck,” I groan, pushing down the disappointment and confusion swirling in my chest. Leoni’s talent for being near silent when she moves is really starting to become fucking annoying.
“Leoni,” Eden squeals in excitement. “You are back. We thought it would be longer.”
“Clearly,” she snorts, making herself comfortable in the living room, her judgemental eyes skirting over the two of us as she presses her tongue in to her cheek.
“Nothing happened.” I tell her with a glare, and she just looks at me before looking at Eden.
“Nothing happened?” She asks her and Eden, turns red and faes a cough as she looks away.
“We kissed, that’s it.”
“That’s it?” Eden says, but her words are pointed at me in the form of a question more than a statement.
“Well, I mean…maybe there was some making out. We weren’t going to have sex or anything.” I rush to amend my statement and both girls look annoyed with my answer as I furrow my brows and try to think of the answer I am supposed to be giving them right now. One that doesn’t yield these disappointed looks.
“I found some other possibilities to break the bond, ones to us in a dire emergency and figured maybe we should try those because we hadn’t heard anything back from you yet.” Eden offers and it feels like a metal pole has been rammed between my ribs.
“So you knew what you were doing?” Leoni looks at Eden and Eden nods.
“Yes, it was only to break the bond, that’s all. Living with its constant pull is suffocating, and it feels like I can’t even think straight.” She admits, and it feels like I’m being torn in two. Why does it hurt so badly when she says it like that? It makes me feel…
Used and unwanted.
“I guess that makes sense.” Leoni muses. “No real deep feelings, only lust and insatiable desire.”
Except it’s not just lust for me. The desire is there, but it’s not just the desire to get in her pants. I want to protect her heart and her future. Is that possibly part of this bond, or am I truly feeling more for her?
“Did you get the paper?” Eden asks, her nerves getting to her as her fingers twitch.
Leoni frowns heavily and shakes her head before she grins and points to the kitchen.
“Why don’t you go check the table?” She tells Eden, who nearly prances out of the room.
“Thank you.” I whisper, watching the place Eden disappeared from sight.
“Don’t thank me yet.” She frowns, standing and moving to my side. “We have some things we need to discuss after you two sort this thing out. Things that concern you and the crown.”
“Could you be a little more specific?” I ask, a sinking feeling settling in my bones.
“Paxton will come for your head once he realizes I came back without informing him.” She looks away, and that’s when I see the red streaks on her face, hidden by her darker complexion except in the light.
“What the fuck happened?” I growl as Eden comes into the room. “Did he hurt you?”
“Let’s just say…I didn’t find the paperwork. He did. And in return for it, he wanted…favors.”
“Please tell me you didn’t…” I breathe, my stomach in my throat as her words weigh in.
“I treated him to the favor of an ass kicking, but he will storm in here in a few days, saying things about you and looking to get me strung up for treason.” She admits. It’s clear she is beyond giving a fuck at the moment, and I’m not sure if that scares me more or not. All I know is that Paxton is now a problem, for more than one reason.
“It will be fixed.” I assure her. “You will have no consequences, I promise.”
