Sonadow Pride Month - Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Sonic was in his house, taking a shower as he used a washcloth to clean his body and his quills, quickly rinsing off his body with the hot steamy trickling water from the shower head. After a few seconds went by, he turned the knobs of water off, the hedgehog's body dripping a lot being soaked in the water. Sonic opened the shower curtain and quickly grabbed a towel, wrapping it around himself so he can keep warm as he starts to wring out the water from his quills. After his quills were rid of a lot of moisture, he steps out and starts to dry himself off with his fluffy towel, starting to get nice and warm in the process.
Once he was finished drying off, he went to his room and sat on the bed, getting a call from his new boyfriend, the number saying "💕┇My Dark Hedgehog ⚫💨" on it, making Sonic's heart skip a beat before accepting the call. "Hello?" Sonic asked. "Hi, just checking on you, how are you doing?" Shadow said. "Just had a shower and was about to order me some Japanese food, why?" Sonic asked. "Forget about ordering takeout hedgehog, because I want to take you on a date, will you go out with me?" Shadow asked his lover. "Sure, want me to meet you someplace or—" Sonic was cut off by Shadow. "I will meet you at your place, and I will drive us there, can you be ready by 6 on the dot?" Shadow asked.
"Of course, that won't be troublesome, I can surely be ready by that time" Sonic said with a smile. "Alright good, get dressed nicely and I will pick you up, okay?" Shadow said. "Absolutely Shads, I will see you then, I love you" Sonic said hoping for something back after he said those three words. "I love you too, bye" Shadow said as he hung up the phone, Sonic hugging his own phone in happiness. "He said he loved me, I am so happy" Sonic said as he wagged his tail while starting to find something to wear. "Casual or laid back? Casual, I need to stick with casual, it is our first date, I don't wanna mess it up" Sonic said to himself as he perused his closet.
~At 6PM~
Sonic was brushing his quills until he got a doorbell ring, making him put down his brush and run down the stairs. "COMING!!!" Sonic said as he ran to the door and opened it, blushing a bit as he saw Shadow in a nice black suit and a fancy-like red bowtie. "Hello, nice to see you again, hope I didn't go overboard, this is the only thing I thought to wear to a restaurant" Shadow said as he fixed his chest fur a bit. "Y-You look amazing" Sonic said as he blushed still. "Why thank you, and my, you look good yourself" Shadow said as he looked at Sonic who was in a cute button shirt and dark blue pants along with himself wearing a nice yarn sweater and a blue bowtie he needed help tying on. Shadow chuckled and started to fix the bowtie for him, making it look much better once he was finished. "There, all fixed" Shadow said as he kisses his head.
Sonic blushed more when his new boyfriend helped him look nice for their date. "Ready to go?" Shadow asked as he held out his hand for him. "Yes, but, how are we going to get there?" Sonic asked as he felt Shadow tugging him and walking with him. "You'll see" Shadow said as he got to a motorcycle and took out its keys. Sonic was shocked and looked at the vehicle in question. "We are gonna ride fast and in style" Shadow said as he got on the motorcycle, holding his hand out for Sonic. Sonic took his hand as Shadow directed him to where he would be seated in front of him. "Whatever you do, don't let go" Shadow said as he turned on the motorcycle and revved its engine a bit. Sonic listened and quickly grabbed onto the inner part of the handles as not even seconds later, Shadow had started the motorcycle and quickly drove away with him.
The speed on the motorcycle made Sonic feel great, the wind blowing on his body, the sunset he saw, and the way Shadow was against him, he didn't imagine something like this would happen. 'Shadow, are you really full of surprises? Because this is awesome, I can get used to this' Sonic thought as they were still riding on the motorcycle. Shadow focused on the road but from time to time he darted his eyes toward Sonic and saw a smile on his face, making him feel happy that he was making his boyfriend feel joy and excitement. "You like it?!" Shadow yelled due to the noise of the engine. "Yes, this is amazing! I never thought I would ride on a motorcycle with you, it's fun!" Sonic yelled as he laughed a bit, Shadow smiling and driving still.
~A Little Later~
Shadow stopped the motorcycle and parked it by the parking lot near the restaurant, getting off the motorcycle and helping Sonic got off as well. "Wow, best ride ever" Sonic said as he felt Shadow hugging him. "I am glad you liked it, I know you loved going fast, so I thought the motorcycle ride was perfect for us" Shadow said as they both walk across the street to get to the restaurant. Sonic looked up and saw the name of the place they were dining at tonight. "Chao Garden Bistro? Sounds nice" Sonic said. "Indeed, and wanna know the best part?" Shadow said to Sonic. "What Shads?" Sonic asked, curious about what it was.
"You'll see right now" Shadow said as he walked in and went to the receptionist lady. "Hello, welcome to Chao Garden Bistro, two of you today?" the lady asked as she looked at them. "Yes please, two of us" Shadow confirmed to the lady. "Alright, right this way" the lady said as she picked up 2 menus and walked past two doors, expecting the men to follow her. Shadow held Sonic's hand and the two went through the doors, Sonic gasping when he saw what Shadow meant. Beyond those doors, a bunch of Chao were flying around the restaurant, people enjoying how cute they are and their adorable little company. "Chao are here?" Sonic asked in shock.
"Yes, Chao spend time in the restaurant, you can have a Chao be near you and they will be fine, they don't disrupt you when you dine, and they are adorable to be near" Shadow said with a chuckle. Sonic started to smile as he saw some Chao dancing, some Chao playing with instruments, and even some Chao eating berries near the customers. "This place is so cute, why haven't I heard of this place? I would have come here sometimes" Sonic said as he looked around at the Chao who were having fun. As they walked with the lady, she suddenly stopped and placed the menus on the table. "A server will be right with you and then you may take your orders, once again, thank you for choosing Chao Garden Bistro tonight" the lady said as she smiled and walked away.
Shadow pulled out a chair and waited for Sonic to sit on it. Sonic saw and slowly sat in the chair, feeling Shadow push him in. "There you go my love" Shadow said as he kisses his head before sitting down on the other side of the nicely decorated table. Sonic smiled and picked up the menu, Shadow picking up his menu as well to look at what they had to eat. Seconds later, two waiters walked to the table and gave the hedgehogs two glasses of ice water. "Hello, I am Inferno the Cat and this is my boyfriend Icicle the Cat, we will be taking your orders today sirs" A greyish purple fire cat said as he was near a white and light blue ice cat. "Aww, you two are a couple?" Sonic asked them. "Well yes, we work together so we can guarantee good customer service" the white cat said to Sonic with a smile.
"That is so sweet you two have a job together, it must be rather nice to have each other helping around the place" Sonic said with a smile. "Yes, it is, I get to be near my beautiful Icy" Inferno said as he kisses his kitty's cheek. "And I get to be with my Ferno all day until we go home and being together more" Icicle giggled as he felt the kiss on his cheek as he fixed his boyfriend's low ponytail that had orange-red tips at the ends. "Aww, that is so cute, well thanks for wanting to serve us today, we will need a bit to decide on what we want" Sonic said with a heartwarming smile. "Okay, we will give you all the time you need before you order your meals, come Icy" Inferno said as he walked away and Icicle quickly followed behind.
Sonic looked in the menu to see what kind of meal he would look forward to eating. "Those two seemed nice" Shadow said as he looked at his menu too. "They are so kind, and their love, wow, just made me smile seeing a couple like that working together every day, most couples aren't fortunate to work together" Sonic said as he looked up at Shadow. "Yeah, but those two are just a pair, which I respect, since they are happy, them being happy is better" Shadow said as he takes a sip of his water. "Yeah, they deserved each other, such a happy couple" Sonic said as he looked at Shadow still.
"Anyway, found anything you wanna order?" Shadow asked as he slowly looked up at Sonic. "I want the steak with the mashed potatoes and instead of the corn, I want to substitute it for steamed broccoli and carrots, and I always would like a drink of lemonade" Sonic said as he smiled at Shadow. A few seconds later the waiters came back with a notepad and pen. "Are you ready to take your orders?" Inferno asked. "Yes we are" Shadow confirmed. "Good, what would you like for your meal?" Icicle asked the two. "I would have the steak be cooked medium rare, with mashed potatoes and instead of the corn, may I have steamed broccoli and carrots instead?" Sonic said to Inferno who was jotting the info down. "Absolutely, we can substitute the corn for the broccoli and carrots" Inferno said as he finished taking his order.
"And what would you like?" Icicle asked Shadow. "You know what, I'll have the same" Shadow said as he took the menus and gave them to Icicle. "Okay great! And would you like a drink?" Icicle asked. "I will take red wine and a lemonade for him" Shadow said as he looked at Sonic. Sonic looked back at him and smiled. Icicle realized what those two are and gasps. "Are you two dating?" Icicle asked. "Yes, we are, what made it obvious?" Shadow asked. "Well, the way you treat each other and your looks at this lovely man here" Icicle said as he giggled a bit. "Icicle has a thing for spotting others like us, call it a hidden talent" Inferno said as he walked away with his boyfriend, leaving the two to be alone in their gazes.
~30 Minutes Later~
Sonic and Shadow were chatting and enjoying their time in the restaurant as some Chao flew near them. "Hey look, they wanna stop right here to see us, hello little Chao, how are you all doing? I bet you are having fun in here with the others" Sonic said as a Chao landed on the table and sat there. "This is a Dark Chao" Shadow said as he picks up a berry from the "Chao Feeding" bowl and gives it to the Chao. "Don't be scared little one, Shadow just wants to make sure you eat" Sonic said as he giggled a bit. The Dark Chao took the berry and starts to nibble on it cutely. Inferno and Icicle came back with their food and started to put the plates down. "There you go, your meal, enjoy" Inferno said as he smiles while now walking away to take care of a few more customers. "I am so glad the Chao found a place to be yet still have a wonderful time" Icicle said as a Hero Chao landed on his head.
"Aww, that is too cute" Sonic said as he smiled and took a berry, giving it to the Chao who took it and flew onto the chandelier and started to munch on it. "They are such cute creatures, I swear whoever made this restaurant is really thoughtful for these Chao, they get free food, can fly around, and have fun, just the perfect thing these little guys need, well, gotta do other orders, it was nice meeting you two, enjoy your meal!" Icicle said as he walked to go find his boyfriend to help with the orders. Sonic looked at the food and smiled as he saw it was just as good as he imagined. "Now this is what I call a good restaurant" Shadow said as he picked up a knife and fork, cutting the steak to see the perfect medium rare.
Sonic smiled and saw the steak Shadow had was cooked the way they both wanted. Sonic did the same and smiled more, seeing both their steaks were cooked the same. "That's great, now let's eat" Shadow said as he eats his first bite of steak. Sonic starts to eat his first bite too, his eyes sparkling from how the steak was seasoned nicely and was very flavorful. "So tender and juicy, and the flavor, oh my chaos, so good!" Sonic said as he eats more of his steak. "I am glad you enjoy, I agree with the spices they used, it's a wonderful way to season a meat" Shadow said as he kept on eating his own steak, enjoying the taste.
~20 Minutes Later~
Sonic and Shadow both cleaned their plates of the food they ate, relaxing and holding hands, smiling at each other, not noticing the waiters coming back to them once more to help them. "Hi, I see you are done, want the check?" Inferno asked. "Yes please, thank you" Shadow said as he rubbed Sonic's hand. Sonic smiled at Shadow and felt so much affection coming from him. Icicle whispered in Inferno's ear, making Inferno look at him and nod as they walk away. Sonic felt Shadow put a hand on his cheek and rubs it, making him purr softly from the feeling. Shadow chuckled as stops rubbing his face as he took his hand and kisses it, making Sonic giggle a bit from how Shadow showed his affection towards him.
"Stop, I don't need all this love and affection" Sonic giggled. "You do, I want to give you a bunch of it" Shadow said as he kept kissing his hand over and over, causing Sonic to giggle more. Shadow looked up and saw two Chao sitting near each other. "Sonic look, two of them" Shadow said as Sonic averted his gaze to the Chao, a Hero and Dark variety. "Aww, look at them together" Sonic said as he looked at the two Chao. The Chao suddenly began cuddling together as they even made Chao noises. "I see they somewhat love one another, that is rather nice" Shadow said as he looked and smiled a bit at the Chao cuddle session. Shadow while looking at the Chao, slowly intertwined his fingers with Sonic's to show he loves him.
Sonic felt the fingers close on his hand, making him close his fingers on Shadow's hand, enjoying his little tone of affection. The Chao smiled and flew somewhere else as Sonic and Shadow slowly looked at each other. Sonic looked at their intertwined hands and softly blushes. "I never felt this happy with anyone before, it's so nice" Shadow said as he smiled at Sonic softly. Sonic slowly nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I feel happy too, Shadow" Sonic said as he felt Shadow stand up, walk around the table, and place a kiss on his lips, making Sonic gasp. Shadow kissed him more as he puts his arms around his waist. Sonic without hesitation wrapped his arms over his shoulders, kissing him back lovingly.
The waiters came back and stopped, looking at the two making out. "Aww" Icicle said as he watched. "Guess they really have it out for each other, they were meant to be in a way, like us Icy" Inferno said as he pecks his boyfriend on the lips and walked to the table with him. Shadow breaks the kiss and rubs Sonic's head before getting startled by the waiters being near them. "Didn't mean to scare you, your check sir" Inferno said as he gave the check to Shadow in his hand. "That was so adorable, you two are just a picture-perfect couple" Icicle said with a smile. "Thanks" Sonic said as his blush died down. "No problem, also, I want you both to have something" Icicle said as he puts a styrofoam container on the table and takes their plates.
"We didn't order anything to go—" Shadow was cut off by the other waiter. "It's on the house, we paid for it, it is a warm cookie brownie surprise, it has melted chocolate in the center, we usually serve it with ice cream, but we don't want a sloppy soggy mess for your dessert, so we excluded that part out, anyway, have a wonderful night" Inferno said as he went with his boyfriend to do their shift. Sonic felt such compassion from the two waiters that he looked at Shadow and took out a 50-dollar bill. Shadow looked surprised but shook his head no. "Shadow, they gave us wonderful service and were kind to customers, I am paying this tip, 25 dollars for both of them, their teamwork is nothing I have ever encountered before, and they deserve this tip above anyone else, they are the perfect waiters" Sonic said as he puts the dollar on the table.
Shadow sighed and looked at him. "Fine, you can pay the tip, I am paying for our dinner though, it is only right since it is our very first date after all" Shadow said as he took out his wallet as he looks at the check. "Deal, at least I am giving something to those who actually earned their tip" Sonic said as he relaxed. "$45.69, and they took 20% off of our order, that will be, $36.55, making that $9.14 off of our order, even making the dessert free on our receipt" Shadow said as he writes down the total and takes out two 20-dollar bills and takes Sonic's 50-dollar bill, putting it in the checkbook. Sonic looked around and found a piece of paper and takes the pen, writing down a special note for the couple.
After a few minutes, the waiters came back and saw the hedgehogs were gone, picking up the checkbook and saw the money inside along with a note that reads "Dear Waiters; Thank you so much for the wonderful and sweet service you provided us tonight, keep the money for the meal and take this 50-dollar bill, split it so you can have 25 dollars each, also, thanks for the free dessert, you really made my night so special with my boyfriend, hope to see you two very soon. Love; Sonic". Icicle gasped and took out the 50-dollar bill out of the checkbook and was happy. "Wow, such great tippers, Inferno this is real!" Icicle said as he hugged Inferno. "I can't believe it, this is the best night of our lives, I am taking us out to the beach next week to celebrate!" Inferno said as he hugged Icicle and both cats were happy that they finally got a big tip from a customer.
Sonic and Shadow were on the motorcycle, Shadow driving to take Sonic home, almost at their location. "I bet I made them really happy!" Sonic yelled as the engine was loud. "I bet you did!" Shadow said as he saw Sonic's house and stopped his motorcycle at the side of the sidewalk, getting off and taking Sonic to the porch. "Thanks Shads, I had a wonderful night, and first date" Sonic said as he smiled at Shadow. Shadow softly smiled and kisses his head. "You're welcome, I had a great time with you, we should go on another date sometime" Shadow said as he gave Sonic a plastic bag with the dessert inside it. "Yeah, I would love that" Sonic said happily.
"Well, I gotta get going home, hope to see you again, Sonikku" Shadow said and winked at him, making Sonic giggle a bit. "Sonikku? You wanna nickname me now?" Sonic asked. "Well, you gave me a nickname over the phone, it is only fair you get a nickname too" Shadow said as he kisses his hand. Sonic giggled more and pushes his head softly. "I like the nickname, it's sweet, thank you" Sonic said as his giggles died down. "Well, bye, I love you" Shadow said as he walked off the porch, Sonic putting down the bag and running after him to do one last thing for the end of the date. "Wait! I wanna give you something!" Sonic said as he got Shadow to stop and look at him, Shadow seeing Sonic run towards him.
Sonic jumps at Shadow and with quick reflexes, Shadow caught him and the two spun around for a bit. "I wanna give you this silly" Sonic said as he kisses Shadow while the two spin gracefully on the front of Sonic's lawn. Shadow kisses back and stops the spinning as he felt his heart jump a bit from being happy. Sonic kept kissing back until they broke the kiss, Shadow putting Sonic down and kissing his nose before getting on his motorcycle and riding away. Sonic sighed happily as he waved goodbye and ran into his house with the dessert, making sure to shut the door, the dinner date being a completely wonderful feeling and experience for both hedgehogs on that beautiful night.
