Sonadow Pride Month - Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Sonic and Shadow were walking in a Chao Forest with Cream, Vanilla, Cheese, and Chocola as they all were going Chao watching. "Thanks for wanting to come Mr. Sonic and Mr. Shadow" Cream said as she walked with her mother. "Anytime sweetheart" Sonic said as he was wearing a light sweater on his body to cover his belly along with the beautiful engagement ring that Shadow proposed to him with. "I am so happy you want to go Chao watching with us, Chao are really wonderful beings, and just watching how they live is amazing to see in person" Vanilla said as she walked while holding Cream's hand. "Chao are very mysterious, yet, always seem to live in harmony and peace" Shadow said as he was close to Sonic.
Cheese and Chocola were flying ahead, having fun and seeing the forest's trees and luscious greenery. "Don't go too far Cheese, and you too Chocola" Vanilla said as she kept walking. "I wonder what kind of Chao we are gonna find, this is gonna be fun" Sonic said as they finally got to the perfect spot to see some Chao. "Alright, remember, don't scare them, they are sometimes timid little beings, but still would love to know about you a bit if you are very sweet and kind towards them" Vanilla said as she gets on her knees and makes sure Cream is sitting down so she can see the Chao when they come.
Sonic and Shadow sat on a rock together to be able to see the Chao when they fly around the area. Vanilla then got a call from someone and picked up the phone. "Hello?" Vanilla answered. "Oh hi honey, yes, Cream is doing well, she is wanting to see wild Chao in a Chao Forest today" Vanilla said and smiled during the phone call. "Oh yes, she would love carrot soup with white rice once she gets home babe, thank you, I will enjoy it too hun, you are the best Graham, I love you, and I will see you when I get home, okay, bye-bye" Vanilla said as she hung up the phone.
"Was that daddy?" Cream asked while smiling. "Yes sweetie, your father wanted to know if you would love carrot soup with rice on the side, and I told him you would love that, since you love daddy's cooking" Vanilla said as she rubbed her head. "Wait, you are married?" Sonic asked. "Well yes, I don't show my ring because I don't want anyone to steal it, you know how it is" Vanilla said as she pulled a necklace out and there attached to it was a beautiful wedding ring, made with beautiful diamonds and in gold. "That is a beautiful ring Vanilla" Shadow said.
"Graham thought of this ring design and had the jeweler make it special for our wedding day, and then 6 years ago, Cream was born, we have been a family of three ever since, but then we have Cheese and Chocola too, so a family of five apparently" Vanilla said with a soft laugh. "Is he a rabbit like you?" Sonic asked. "Yes, he is, and he is so cute and kind, when we met, it was love at first sight, we were in Station Square when we met, I dropped my bags by accident and he was there to help me pick them up, such a nice man he is, and one who really made my heart happy" Vanilla said as she puts the ring away in her blouse.
"I hope daddy makes carrot cake, I love daddy's yummy food and sweets, they make me happy mama" Cream said as she smiled at her mom. "I think he will honey, don't worry" Vanilla said as she hugged her daughter, Cheese and Chocola landing on Vanilla's shoulders so they can join the hug. Sonic and Shadow looked at them and smiled softly as they saw their bond being strong. "Now, let's watch the Chao as soon as they show up, okay sweetie?" Vanilla said to Cream while stopping the hug and rubbing her head. "Okay mama" Cream said with an adorable smile on her sweet little face.
Sonic laughed softly as he went back to watching the spot so he doesn't miss the Chao sighting. Shadow looked back at the spot as well. Suddenly a few Chao flew to the spot and were playing with each other, having fun flying around in circles. "Aww, the Normal Chao, Hero Chao, and Dark Chao are looking like they are playing tag, but flying, so cute" Sonic said softly. "Guess they enjoy their little time playing together instead of being alone, that is rather a smart idea of them, at least they care about one another's involvement in their little games" Shadow said softly.
"Chao love playing games, eating, and also love to travel in groups, they are like children, wanting to play in the bask of the sun, and yet, caring about others as they go, Chao are so fascinating to see and to learn about, right Cream?" Vanilla said to her daughter. "Yes mama, Cheese and Chocola were scared of us before but once we gained their trust, it was like their inner feelings sprout out and they wanted to live with us and have fun with each other, that is how they view us, as caretakers and friends, I think Chao are very nice with children like me, and others they deem to be kind person in their eyes" Cream said as Cheese landed on her head and Chocola sitting on Vanilla's lap, both of them making a point that they trust those they deem safe.
"Yeah, I can see that, Cheese and Chocola really love you two, and they even feel safe and happy, which is a wonderful sight to see" Sonic said with a smile. "Sonic look, another one, but it looks different from the others" Shadow said as Sonic looked and it was a white Chao with pink tones, blue eyes, and a halo on top. "Woah, so beautiful, looks like a whitish-pink angel, but in the form of a Chao, so beautiful" Sonic said as he quickly takes out his phone and takes a picture of the rare Chao. "Mama, that is a rare Chao we have never seen before" Cream said as she smiled happily. "That's right honey, this Chao is pretty different from the rest" Vanilla said as she watched the Chao.
The white and pink angel-like Chao goes near the three Chao and they welcome the rare Chao into their little game of tag. "Awwwwwwww, they are playing together, that is so amazing to see, they are so nice to one another, very selfless if you ask me" Sonic said as he takes a video of the Chao playing together. "You are right Sonic, even if they are rare Chao, they still find a way for all of them to have fun" Vanilla said as he rubs Cream's head, making her giggle. Shadow softly smiled at the Chao, their little enjoyment being nice to watch, knowing that Chao really are fascinating beings like Vanilla mentioned before the Chao came flying into the forest.
~30 Minutes Later~
Cream was flying with her ears with Cheese and Chocola following her. Vanilla was smiling and watching her daughter to make sure she is within her sight. "That was so much fun watching the Chao, they are really cute!" Sonic said as Shadow was next to him and holding him close by the shoulder while they walk. "We got to get going, Graham usually gives Cream snacks when she gets home, she loves him and I want her to be with her dad, so, this is so long for now Sonic, and you too Shadow, have a wonderful day, you can stay here a little longer if you like, but don't get lost, follow the signs on your way out" Vanilla said as she walked to the signs that allowed you to leave the Chao Forest, Sonic and Shadow now alone with each other.
"Let's go home Sonic, I have something for lunch you might like, some yummy mashed potatoes, gravy, grilled pork, and some steamed broccoli, I know you will like it" Shadow said. "Okay Shadow, whatever you say—" Sonic then turned his head and saw something in the distance, making him speed walk to where he was looking. "Where are you going?" Shadow asked as he watched Sonic. Sonic gasped and looked at Shadow. "SHADS GET OVER HERE, QUICKLY!" Sonic said as Shadow then walked to Sonic. "What is it?" Shadow asked.
"Just look down!" Sonic said as he pointed at a tree trunk. Shadow looked and to his surprise, he saw two Chao eggs all alone in a nest of leaves and grass, one that was blue and the other that was red and black. "They are all alone out here! What if no one can defend them?! They are just eggs!" Sonic said as he got on his knees and rubbed the eggs. "Poor little guys, no one is going to protect you, something bad will happen if we leave you alone, I feel it in my gut little eggs" Sonic said as he looked sorry for the eggs. "Sonic, we can't just take them—" Shadow then saw Sonic giving him puppy eyes, wanting him to change his mind.
"Please? I can't just leave them like this, what if something or some animal breaks the eggs? I wouldn't live with that thought of their safety, please, we have to take them" Sonic said as his puppy eyes were too effective for Shadow to ignore. Shadow groaned and fully gave into his plea. "Fine, but where will they be in the house? There is not really a place for them to be able to develop and hatch" Shadow said as he saw Sonic pick up the eggs and hold them close to him. "I am taking my chances, but I am not leaving innocent baby Chao eggs out here, I help those who need me, and they need my help to protect them until they are fully hatched" Sonic said.
Shadow sighed softly and smiled a bit. "Alright, there is no arguing about doing the right thing with you, you always were so selfless and helping those in need with your righteous compassion, that is what your heart wants, right?" Shadow asked as he took the red and black egg in his arms, letting Sonic hold the blue egg so he can focus on not dropping it. "Caring about others makes me feel like I am doing them a favor in letting them know I helped, it is a wonderful feeling" Sonic said as he walked to the signs that lead out the forest with Shadow so they can get home to take care of the Chao Eggs.
~Later At Home~
Sonic quickly picks up a nice basket and fills it with a soft fluffy blanket in it as he takes both of the eggs and places them inside, giving them a soft place to lay while they still develop inside their egg. "There, you are safe now little eggs, me and Shadow will take good care of you both until you hatch, promise sweet little Chao eggs" Sonic said as he rubs both eggs and smiled. "I love your thinking, a basket and a blanket to make sure they don't roll away or break but, where will they go?" Shadow asked as he picked up the basket with the Chao eggs inside.
"They can be on the nightstand so we can keep an eye on them just in case they start to hatch" Sonic said as he walked up the stairs and smiled. "Alright, that is actually a nice idea, they will be right there if anything happens" Shadow said as he carries the basket up the stairs and walked to their bedroom. Sonic dusted off the nightstand as Shadow then placed the basket there, both eggs being safe and not on the edge, the basket perfectly centered. "Perfect, now we don't have to worry about the eggs falling, thank you Shads" Sonic said with a smile. "You're welcome Sonic, anything for you" Shadow said as he rubs Sonic's head.
~At Nighttime~
Sonic and Shadow were getting ready for bed as Shadow finished putting on his facial cream while Sonic brushed his quills until they were soft and not tangled anymore. Sonic smiled at Shadow as he walked out of the bathroom, Shadow chuckling and washing his hands to get rid of the leftover bit of facial cream, leaving soon after he was done with his nighttime skin care. Sonic was getting into bed and waiting for Shadow to cuddle with him. Shadow came a few seconds later, crawling into bed and putting the blanket over them, holding Sonic close to him.
"Do you think we will be good caretakers to these Chao eggs until the Chao are born?" Sonic asked as Shadow placed a kiss on his cheek and nuzzled on him. "Well, we can try our best, that is all that matters love, better than trying nothing, right?" Shadow asked as Sonic giggled a tiny bit. "I guess you are right, but, I wonder what they would look like when they come out of the eggs" Sonic said as he smiled. "I guess we will have to wait and see, goodnight Sonikku" Shadow said as he turns off the lamp. "Goodnight Shads" Sonic said as he yawned and minutes later, both of them fell fast asleep, both of the eggs leaning on each other as they were going to be safe with the two hedgehogs that found them and took them into their wonderful loving care.
