Shadow was making something for Sonic to eat since he was hungry. "Are you okay love?" Shadow asked as Sonic was laying on the couch and holding onto a pillow and had his eyes closed, snoring a bit. Shadow sighed and kept cooking, knowing Sonic has been more sleepy lately. There was then a knock on the door, indicating that someone was there. Sonic's ears flickered which then prompted him to slowly wake himself up and go to the door, opening it to see Sage there, looking up at him and smiling.
Sonic yawned and rubbed his eyes a bit as he looked at Sage. "What are you doing here?" Sonic asked as he was now fully awake and surprised she was here. "I wanted to spend time with you and my cousin, father doesn't know I am here, I thought about what you said, about journeying on my own from time to time, and to be honest, I like the idea of that, also, may I come in?" Sage asked. "Sure, come on in, Shadow is in the kitchen, you can go see him" Sonic said as he moved away from the door, Sage smiled more and floated inside to the kitchen, Sonic closing the door and locking it behind him.
Shadow looked and saw his cousin floating into the kitchen as she stopped and landed on the floor, looking up at him. "Hello Sage, how are you doing today? Good I hope?" Shadow asked as he was almost finished with Sonic's meal. "I am okay, traveling here was easy, I can teleport when I want, but, I sometimes need a direction to get to someone, so, I found the fox and he told me this is where you lived" Sage said as she plays with her short ends of hair a bit. "Well, the fox is smart, I will give him that" Shadow said with a chuckle as he smiled at her.
"What are you doing?" Sage asked as Shadow picked her up and held her on his leg so she can see what he is doing at the moment. "I am cooking for Sonic, he asked me to make him some food, so as the good and kind boyfriend I am, I am feeding him the meal he wants today" Shadow said as he flipped over some nice tonkatsu pork that he was cooking in a pan and cooking some fluffy rice in a pot along with him making a very savory curry sauce to go with it. "That looks actually quite good" Sage said as she watched him cook.
"Had to follow a recipe online, but I think I managed for him to enjoy a meal like this" Shadow said as he puts Sage down on the counter and rubs her head while he then starts to chop up some cabbage thinly so it can go well with the dish he is preparing for his boyfriend. Sage just watched as she was impressed with how he can multitask on cooking 3 things at once. "Cooking is a passion of mine, it keeps my mind off of things and helps me hone my culinary craft more" Shadow said as he kept chopping up the cabbage thinly as his cousin watched in amusement.
After some minutes, Shadow took out a bowl and takes some of the fluffy rice and puts it in the bowl, then takes a ladle and pours some of the curry sauce on the rice, next taking the tonkatsu pork and cuts it into thick slices and putting it on top of the rice, and last, taking the thinly cut cabbage and putting it into a smaller bowl. Sage was amazed by how the meal looked in the end, her eyes showing signs of shock and being very impressed. Shadow then pours Sonic some water and puts the food on a tray, gesturing for Sage to follow him as he leaves the kitchen and into the living room to give Sonic his meal.
Shadow looked and smiled at Sonic as was looking at him with his tail wagging at the sight of food. Sage followed and floated to the living room and finally got to get a good look at Sonic's stomach but ignored it because she didn't find anything wrong with him. "Here you go babe, tonkatsu pork with curry on rice and a side of cabbage, all for you" Shadow said with a warm smile. "Thanks babe, you are the best!" Sonic said as he picked up the tonkatsu rice bowl and started to eat it with chopsticks, the flavors being just like he pictured them in his mind.
"What do you think Sonikku?" Shadow asked as he sat near Sonic. "So delicious, the pork is juicy and flavorful, the rice is fluffy and coated with yummy curry, it is so perfect! Thank you so much Shads!" Sonic said as he kept eating. "He really likes it Shadow" Sage said as she sat down on the other couch. "He has a love relationship with food, food is basically his love language" Shadow said with a chuckle as he kisses Sonic's nose softly. "Can you blame me, food is amazing, if cooked right and deliciously, then yes" Sonic said as he then started to eat a few bits of cabbage to act as a calming palette to his meal.
"So, how are you both?" Sage asked. "Well, I am doing okay, Sonic on the other hand is great" Shadow said as Sage smiled. "That is nice, anything new happened?" Sage asked as Sonic nodded. "Yes, we found 2 Chao eggs that we saved from potential harm, they still haven't hatched yet but are upstairs in our bedroom so they can be out of harm's way. "Chao? What are they?" Sage asked. "Chao are amazing beings that can fly, they don't talk, but they usually have fun, eat fruits, and even can trust anyone that is safe in their eyes, if they hatch, we will show you what they look like, alright?" Sonic said to Sage.
Sage smiled more and looked at Sonic. "I look forward to seeing the beings you described" Sage said as she softly laughed a bit. Sonic laughed a bit too, knowing she would be interested in learning about Chao species. "Sage, I would like to question something, wouldn't Eggman know you are gone if he doesn't find you?" Shadow asked. "That is a valid question, well, he said I can venture his lair, but even his lair coordinates are classified to you two and anyone else for that matter, he told me so himself, I have to respect his word" Sage said as she looked at her cousin, showing she was serious about the matter of Eggman's whereabouts.
~30 Minutes Later~
Sonic was finished with the meal as he gets up and puts the dishes in the sink and was about to go back to Shadow and Sage. "And so, that is why fighting for what you believe in is the best part about battling Eggman, it is just a state of mind" Shadow said to her, finishing his explanation on a previous question she asked. "Hmm, understandable, I see your point of view, but question, if it isn't too much to ask" Sage said to Shadow. "Sure, you can ask" Shadow said. "Well, what happened to Sonic since the last time I saw him? He is getting a bit bigger in the stomach, I am not trying to be rude, I just wanted to know" Sage asked kindly.
"Well, I don't know, but either way, I still love Sonic for who he is and that is all that matters, all I care about is my boyfriend, nothing about his looks, nothing about his attitude, I just love him for being himself, can you blame me? I am his lover for crying out loud" Shadow said as Sonic listened. "Alright, but still, I worry about him now, but maybe it is just me, maybe" Sage said as she looked at her cousin. "But still, I appreciate your concern for him, that is sweet of you cousin" Shadow said with a soft smile. "You're welcome Shadow, I care about you and Sonic so much, it is my duty to serve you both now as I promised that day" Sage said until something bad happened.
"SAGE, WHERE ARE YOU?! I NEED YOU TO LOG INTO MY DATABASE AND GIVE ME METAL SONIC'S FILE, NOW!" Eggman said as Sonic and Shadow heard, shocked but staying quiet so Sage doesn't get into trouble. "S-Sorry father, I will be there shortly, I was looking around the lair like you asked me to" Sage lied but Eggman was none the wiser to know this was a ruse she told him. "WELL HURRY UP, METAL SONIC IS GLITCHING OUT!!! GET OVER HERE NOW MISSY!!!" Eggman said before cutting her off, causing Sage to look down sadly.
"I-I have to go. . . Sorry. . ." Sage said as she floated off the couch. "Sage, just, be careful, for me and Shadow's sake, please" Sonic said as he looked at her. "I promise. . . thank you for letting me come here. . . farewell. . ." Sage said as she disappear in a flash of a bright red glitchy distorted light. "Sage. . . I am so sorry you had to be created by the doctor. . . even Gerald never treated me like that. . ." Shadow said as he hits his fist on the coffee table. "I think she will be okay Shads, but I agree, being created by Eggman would be horrible, but she is his prized creation, what can go wrong?" Sonic asked as he didn't know what the future was going to tell.
~At the Secret Lair~
Sage appeared in Eggman's lair in seconds and looked at Eggman. "YOU ARE 2 MINUTES LATE, WHERE WERE YOU?!" Eggman yelled at Sage. "I was looking at the robots to see if they are still usable" Sage said. "YOU BETTER BE RIGHT, BUT SAGE, I HAVE A TASK FOR YOU! AN IMPORTANT TASK!" Eggman yelled to her. "Yes father?" Sage asked him. "SONIC AND SHADOW SHARE A BIRTHDAY TOGETHER, AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE BLUE NINCOMPOOP ALONG WITH THAT SELF-RIGHTEOUS BLACK PINCUSHION! YOU WILL GO TO THAT BIRTHDAY AND GATHER EVERYTHING I NEED TO KNOW! AM I CLEAR?!" Eggman yelled at her. Sage looked down and nodded. "Y-Yes father" Sage said with sadness in her voice. "GOOD, THAT IS WHAT I LIKE TO HEAR SAGE, AND WITH THAT INFORMATION, I WILL WIN OVER THOSE HEDGEHOGS ONCE AND FOR ALL!" Eggman yelled as he then did his evil laugh, gloating at the fact he might actually beat Sonic this time with the help of Sage, the girl not wanting to go through with his evil work, but has no choice but to participate in his malicious plans.
Sonic yawned and rubbed his eyes a bit as he looked at Sage. "What are you doing here?" Sonic asked as he was now fully awake and surprised she was here. Eggman yelled as he then did his evil laugh, gloating at the fact he might actually beat Sonic this time with the help of Sage, the girl not wanting to go through with his evil work, but has no choice but to participate in his malicious plans.
