Sonic and Shadow were in a hospital as Sonic was there for his last ultrasound before the baby arrives in the next 6 days, Shadow excited to see the baby in his belly. "I can't wait to see this little one in your belly, I missed so much but for a good reason, had I known, I would have panicked about everything, I guess this is a good point that you never told me you were pregnant" Shadow said as he rubbed his belly softly, feeling the baby kick his hand, making his tail wag slowly. "Yeah, you would have panicked unless I didn't tell you" Sonic said with a giggle.
"I still am so happy that I have a little baby that is mine growing in you, this is a wonderful thing Sonic, thank you for bearing this baby for so long, it must have been rough on you though, you know, without me knowing anything and all" Shadow said with a chuckle as he kissed Sonic's cheek. "Oh it was, the morning vomiting, the excessive bladder pressing, not being able to bend down to pick something up, the crazy cravings I had to eat, and worse, the sleepless nights sometimes that I am too tired to move at all in the morning, along with the naps I took as well, the baby did all of that" Sonic said as he nervously laughs.
"Oh my chaos, that is terrible, I am so sorry this happened during your pregnancy without my knowledge" Shadow said as he rubs Sonic's back. "It is alright, as long as the little one is healthy and okay, then I am okay" Sonic said as he held his belly. "But still, I could have helped you out" Shadow said as he rubbed his back more. "But you unknowingly did help me, so, it was a win-win for the both of us, if you think about you, you actually did help our baby out, so, thank you for putting up with everything" Sonic said with a smile.
"Hey, pregnant or not, I still have to put up with you still, silly hedgehog" Shadow said with a chuckle. "Sonic the Hedgehog?" the receptionist said. "Yes, that is me" Sonic said. "Dr. Rabbit will see you now" the receptionist said. "Alright, what room do I need to go into?" Sonic asked. "Room 2-205, she is waiting for you" the receptionist said, answering his question. "Thank you kindly" Sonic said as he walked away to the room he needed to go to, Shadow following him so he can see his baby in his belly after all this time.
After finding the room, Sonic walked inside and was greeted by Vanilla. "Good morning Sonic, thank you for coming on time for your final appointment, I will be honored to perform your last ultrasound before the baby is born" Vanilla said with a smile. "Thank you Vanilla, I am so happy I get to do this one last time" Sonic said with a smile as well. "Vanilla was your ultrasound doctor?" Shadow asked as he looked at them. "Yes, Sonic needed to check on himself, and said he was pregnant to me, and told me to check, I got to give him his first ultrasound, and he cried tears of happiness when he saw a little baby growing inside his belly that even I cried, having a baby is a beautiful gift, and he got to have that chance to bear one, just for you" Vanilla said.
"So, what does he have to do?" Shadow asked. "First, he will sit on the chair so we can have him sitting down but laying at the same time so that his belly doesn't squeeze the baby and makes them both comfortable as well, then I have to take a special gel and apply it onto his belly, then I will take the ultrasound scanner and we will scan the belly to see your healthy little bundle of joy" Vanilla said as she typed on the computer a bit, starting to set up the ultrasound. "This is all very painless? It won't harm Sonic or the baby at all?" Shadow asked.
"Oh absolutely, no needles, no blood, no scalpels, this is 100% painless, I promise, I would never harm your fiancee or your baby, that would defeat the whole purpose of being a doctor after all" Vanilla said as she then goes out the room to go and find the gel she needed for the ultrasound. "Sonic, I love you, but are you sure it doesn't hurt, not even a little? Just asking" Shadow said. "Well, it kinda hurts from the pressure a bit, but if it is to see my baby and how they can find other spots to show the baby to me, then I don't care hun, I just wanna see the baby you put in me, that is all" Sonic said as he slowly sits on the chair and lays back as he waits for Vanilla to come back.
Shadow sat in the chair next to him and held his hand. "Alright, just making sure you are okay, that's all" Shadow said while gripping his hand softly. "Babe, you worry too much, but I love that about you, it shows you truly care about me, and our little baby that will soon be born in less than a week" Sonic said as he rubbed his thumb on top of his hand. "It does Sonikku?" Shadow asked. "Of course, if you didn't show this much concern, then I wouldn't know if you care or not, but with you expressing to me your concern shows you really care about everything going on" Sonic said as he places a kiss on his nose.
Shadow looked and smiled as he then looked at his belly. "Who knew a small life can grow in there, or multiple for that matter, that is so fascinating" Shadow said as he softly rubs Sonic's belly while they wait for Vanilla to return. After a couple of minutes went by, Vanilla came back with the gel and smiled. "Alright, last time doing this, are you excited for to baby to come?" Vanilla asked as she gets the scan ready on the computer. "I am Vanilla, I've been waiting a long time for this, and I have Shadow to help me through it all, which won't be so scary anymore" Sonic said as he nuzzled his head on Shadow's head, both of them purring a bit.
"Alright, relax and let me get the scan ready so we can get it started right away" Vanilla said as she was almost finished setting up the ultrasound. "Are you ready to see your baby?" Sonic asked Shadow. "Of course hun, I am more than honored to meet this little one, even if it is before he or she is born, I want to see how big the baby has gotten, I bet they are bigger than 10 pounds" Shadow said. "10 pounds? Hun, this is a baby we are talking about, not a bag of flour babe" Sonic said with a giggle.
"Well, if they were that many pounds, I wouldn't mind, they would still be my adorable baby" Shadow said with a smile as he kissed his belly softly and felt the baby kicking his lips, making him chuckle a lot. "Hey, I need to give you love too little one, not just your mommy my little bundle of joy" Shadow said as he rubbed the place where he got kicked. "Silly, both of you, but I will always love you both" Sonic said as Vanilla finished preparing the ultrasound scanner. "Alright, I am finished, now, lay back, relax, and don't move Sonic" Vanilla said as she stands up.
"Okay, whatever you say" Sonic said as he listened to her instructions, holding onto Shadow's hand. "Okay, remember, the gel will be cold on your belly, but bear with it okay?" Vanilla said as she opens the AquaSonic gel and puts it on his belly, Sonic whimpering and arched his back a bit, his lower body lifting up off the chair from the chills he felt. "C-Cold!" Sonic said as Shadow slowly forced him to lay his lower body back on the chair. "I know Sonic, but don't worry, it won't be cold once the scanner smoothes it out and makes it warm" Vanilla said as she rubbed his shoulder.
Vanilla then picks up the ultrasound transducer and places it on his belly, pulling the computer near them so they can see what she can find. "Now, let's scan for the little baby hedgehog" Vanilla said as she moves the ultrasound transducer and smeared the ultrasound gel all over his belly to find the little baby. After seconds of the transducer pressing on his body to try and find the little unborn baby, she finally spotted the being growing inside of his belly. "There is your baby, looking very healthy and bigger, after this last appointment, your baby will meet their wonderful parents" Vanilla said as Shadow looked at the screen to see his unborn child.
"That is our baby? It's so small" Shadow said as he looked at his belly and then at the screen to see the little baby curled up and snug inside of his womb that was its home for over the past 4 months. "Yes Shadow, that is our little baby" Sonic said with a smile as he felt Shadow grip his hand a bit. "They are so beautiful" Shadow said as he sheds a tear and sniffles a bit before rubbing his eyes so he can rid of his tears. "Shadow, it is okay, you can shed tears, this is a beautiful moment for you" Sonic said as he looked at Shadow as he pointed at the screen.
"Because you see this baby? This baby is yours and you are happy to see something that is your blood, and a mini version of you inside my belly, so, cry if you want to, we won't judge, this is something that can never be brought back again, so cry as much as you want to Shads" Sonic said as Shadow looked back at the screen and sheds a few more tears, seeing a baby with his own blood that was created with Sonic, just there and in the fetal pose as babies do. "See, that is your itty bitty baby" Sonic said as he rubbed Shadow's back.
"Want to hear the baby's heartbeat Shadow?" Vanilla asked. "Sure, please" Shadow said as he kept shedding tears. Vanilla nods and takes out a fetal doppler as she puts it on the belly, and there, they heard the baby's beautiful heartbeats, Shadow shedding even more tears, knowing his baby was perfectly fine. "See, you hear that Shadow? No need to worry about our little baby, he or she is alright" Sonic said as he kissed Shadow's tear-stained cheeks. "Once the baby comes, you have to help Sonic take care of them, okay?" Vanilla said. "I promise I will take care of the baby, Sonic can't do it alone, so, I am willing to help" Shadow said while rubbing his eyes with his arm.
Vanilla smiled as the heartbeats still kept going. "Alright, that is everything I wanted to show you for your ultrasound, you are free to go, have a wonderful day boys" Vanilla said as she takes the transducer and doppler off of his belly, then used a microfiber cloth to wipe off all of the ultrasound gel off of his belly, and even rubbing his belly with soap to make sure his belly is rid of the gel before drying him and smiling once she was done. "Thank you so much Vanilla, hope to see you soon, you sure you wanna take care of my baby? I think they would be a handful" Sonic said with a giggle.
"Sweetie, if you both need me to take care of the baby, I will, I am always happy to help you so you and Shadow can have fun with each other" Vanilla said as she picked up a jar of lollipops and held it out for Sonic. "Thank you Vanilla, I will keep that in mind" Sonic said with a smile as he looked at the jar full of sweet sugary goodness on little sticks. "Shh, don't tell the kids I am sharing" Vanilla said with a soft giggle along with a wink as Sonic wagged his tail and grabbed a strawberry lollipop. "Forgive Sonic, he has been having a sweet tooth apparently since the baby started developing inside of him" Shadow said.
"No worries it was just like when I was pregnant with Cream, so I fully understand, well, time for you both to be on your way home" Vanilla said as she puts down the jar and opens the door for both of the hedgehogs. "Thank you once again Vanilla, see you soon when we are NOT in a hospital on a weekend morning" Sonic said with a laugh as he walked out of the room. "Vanilla, once the baby is born, can you teach me how to be a good dad? I never had a child before and I don't want to mess up, please?" Shadow asked her.
"Aww, of course, I can teach you, being a mom wasn't easy for me, but once I got used to my style of parenting, it has been easier since, no run along, Sonic needs someone to protect that little baby bump of his" Vanilla said with a soft smile. "Okay, have a wonderful rest of your day Vanilla" Shadow said as he walked out of the room and caught up with Sonic who was with the lollipop he wanted in his mouth. "Ready to go home?" Shadow asked. "Yeah, the baby is making me sleepy, I need a nap right about now, so yes, I will take that one ticket to snooze town please" Sonic said as he held Shadow's hand.
"Alright Sonic, we can go home" Shadow said as he held Sonic's hand as they walked down the stairs to the lobby, the hedgehogs then walked out of the building and to the parking lot. Sonic turns off the electro-shield around his car as he then gets into the passenger seat and Shadow into the driver's seat, handing Shadow the keys. Shadow smiled as he then started the car and slowly yet surely drove away from the hospital, Sonic relaxing and slowly closing his eyes, showing he was very much in need of a well-deserved nap.
After minutes of driving to their house, Sonic was knocked out and snoring in the passenger seat. Shadow parked the car in their garage as he then unbuckled Sonic's seatbelt and picked him up bridal style, taking him into the house while locking the car. Shadow smiled and put Sonic on the couch, softly rubbing his head before covering him with the rainbow throw they have, kissing his nose before walking to a different couch to read a book of his as Sonic slowly began to smile in his sleep, happy Shadow came to his ultrasound to see their beautiful baby they both made together that will come once the week is over, happy to start a family with the one he loves.
