Sonic was in the house with Shadow as Shadow was on a call with Sonia and Manic in the kitchen. "I need you to help me, I want to give something to Sonic, but, he needs to be out of the house so I can prepare for it, can you help me? That would be very helpful" Shadow said. "Well, alright, maybe we can take him out take him out for a siblings' day, just the three of us, that should give you enough time, have him leave at 10AM, and we will bring him back at around 7PM, that gives you 9 hours, does that help?" Sonia said on the phone.
"That might just be enough for what I need to do around the house, thank you Sonia" Shadow said. "Hey, and if Sonic wants to go home, we will distract him from going home with a chilidog or two, that usually works" Manic said. "Okay, thank you both again, see you at 10AM, alright, bye" Shadow said as he hangs up the phone and goes to Sonic who was eating a yummy bowl of oatmeal to help him feel his baby a bit of fiber. "Sonic, your siblings wanna take you somewhere for the day, and I want you to spend time with your siblings that will be future aunt and uncle to our baby, alright Sonikku? They will pick you up at 10, so in less than an hour my love" Shadow said as he rubbed Sonic's back softly.
"Okay Shads, I will be sure to have a good day with them" Sonic said as he finishes his oatmeal. "Of course sweetie, enjoy the time you are with them, and have fun for me" Shadow said as he rubbed his back softly still. "I will my love, I promise, my siblings always have fun stuff they wanna do with me, so today will be super duper fun, don't worry babe" Sonic said as he relaxed on the couch and rubbed his belly softly. "Alright sweetheart, but can I ask you a question? It is about our baby's gender, what do you think the gender will be?" Shadow asked.
"I think it will be a girl, I don't know why, but I always wanted a little girl, a beautiful little girl that can look up to me and see me as one of her everyday heroes, I really think we are gonna have a girl, I have a hunch it will be correct, if not, then I am okay with a boy too" Sonic said. "Alright hun, just asking, but glad to know you will accept our baby for whatever gender they turn out to be, very happy that you will love the unconditionally like you would love me that way" Shadow said as he kisses his head and takes his bow, chuckling on his way to the kitchen as he started washing the dishes as he waited for 10AM to come so Sonic can be out of the house so he can get started on what he wanted to do.
~At 10AM~
There was a doorbell ring, Shadow opening up the door to see the siblings. "Hi Shadow, is Sonic ready to go?" Sonia asked. "Yeah, we got a great day planned, we're gonna see a cool movie, go to an arcade, eat some food at the mall, and even look at amazing sights! We are gonna have a blast!" Manic said. "Sonic, they are here!" Shadow yelled as Sonic was heard coming down the stairs. "COMING!!!" Sonic said as he comes to the door and walks out, hugging his siblings. "We will take good care of him" Sonia said. "Yeah, count on us, we will make sure he is safe" Manic said.
"Have a great time you three, bye" Shadow said as he kisses Sonic on the head before closing the door, Sonic, Sonia, and Manic going into Aleena's car they borrowed for the day, driving away so they can't get to have their sibling's time. Shadow then waited for them to leave as he then calls Rouge. "Hey, meet me at the hardware store, we got work to do" Shadow said as he then hangs up the phone and goes into Sonic's car, riding it to where he wanted their meet-up place to be, hoping he gets what he wanted his surprise to be for Sonic in their house.
~At the Hardware Store~
Shadow arrived and to his surprise, he saw all the couples there, except for Manic and Sonia for obvious reasons, himself looking majorly confused. "Why are they here Rouge" Shadow asked as he got out of Sonic's car. "I told them to come and help us out, we need all the help we can get, we only got so much time" Rouge said. "Yeah, what do you need help with? We can surely help you out!" Tails said. "Well, this is something for the baby, and I have been thinking about it since last night, but, I want the baby to have their own room, so, my office is gonna be moved downstairs and the baby is going to be upstairs with us if anything, but I need help" Shadow said.
"Aww, that is so sweet! Sure, we can help you make the room ready for a baby in no time! And you got the perfect hedgehog to transport and move all of your stuff with the power of his mind!" Silver said as he pointed at himself. "Alright, you all can help, besides, me and Rouge would not be able to finish in time anyway, we only got 9 hours until Sonic comes back, and I need this room done before then" Shadow said. "Alrighty! Any theme we working on?" Amy asked. "Well, Sonic told me himself, that, the baby might, MIGHT, be a girl, so, I want the room to be painted a nice shade of pink, can you handle the paint Rose?" Shadow asked Amy.
"Oh she definitely can, she just painted someone's new house last week!" Blaze said with a smile as she nuzzled Amy. "Alright, Espio, Mighty, Vector, can you help with the crib please? I need help with that" Shadow asked. "Leave that to us, we can surely do it for you" Espio said as Vector then put him on his right shoulder and held him there. "Wonderful, Scourge and Fleetway, can you help pick out a light fixture, a pretty one would do" Shadow asked. "Sure, will do, no worries about that" Fleetway said as he nuzzles on Scourge. "That would be nice, Rookie and Infinite, can you help me get pretty sheets for the baby's crib, one to match the theme?" Shadow asked.
"Of course! Leave that to me and him, we got this!" Rookie said as he kissed Infinite's cheek. "Good, Tails and Knuckles, help with the storage shelf, I would need it to make sure the baby has everything it needs" Shadow said. "Sure thing, me and him will help all we can!" Tails said as he hugged on Knuckles. "Alright, Silver and Mephiles, you work on the baby's mobile, get something that is sweet and soothing to the ear and that is in the words of "adorable" if you can" Shadow said. "Of course, the baby deserves a cute little mobile, ain't that right sweetie?" Silver said as he kissed Mephiles' nose.
"Sure thing, whatever is nice there, Blaze and Rouge, can you help find some things that are for baby girls? Like swaddles, burping cloths, bibs, anything that will be useful for the baby" Shadow said. "Leave that to us women to do it, right babe?" Blaze said as she licked Rouge's head with a purr. "Thank you, Whisper, Tangle, and Tikal, can you help me with the curtains, the rocking chair, the baby swing, and the baby books? I will surely be needing those for the baby when they need a nap or need to get some rest" Shadow said. "O-Oh absolutely, we can help out, r-right?" Whisper said as Tangle hugged her from behind.
"Sure thing, we will do anything to help you out, we are all in this together, as friends, we need to help those who need the help, and by chaos, you need that help, so yeah, we are all willing participants in your little room makeover" Tikal said with a smile. "Wonderful, meet me at my house at 12PM, that gives us 2 hours to find all the things we need, can I count on you all? Sonia and Manic aren't here because Sonic is with them, so we need to all be finished within 7 hours after getting to my house, now, hustle!" Shadow said as he went inside the hardware store while the others went to go to the other stores to find what they need.
~At 12PM~
Shadow and the others gathered the things they would need, all of them moving everything out of Shadow's now-old office. "Okay, Rose, you start the painting with the other girls, the guys and I are gonna build the stuff, that way we can be quicker" Shadow said as he opens the box for the shelf and takes out all of the pieces so they can work together to build it, along with the instructions that came with it. "If we do all of this, then we will be sure to fix everything around at 5PM, so 5 hours is our goal" Shadow said as the others nodded and got to work.
~At 5PM~
Shadow and the others were almost finished, the room was painted a beautiful shade of pink called rose, the shelf built, the crib built, and the beautiful light fixture that was crystal cluster-shaped. Mighty helped move all of the heavy items inside since he was the strongest one they had, the girls were working together to put up the curtains, and the boys were helping with the hardware and placing them where Shadow wanted them to go. Shadow on the other hand was screwing in the crystal cluster-shaped light for the baby's room so he can be done with that quickly and go back to helping the others.
"Alright, the light fixture is up and it looks so magnificent, I will take care of the rest, made you all some blueberry lemonade downstairs, take a break, you all did a great job in helping me" Shadow said as the others smiled at their hard work and walk out of the room to refresh themselves as Shadow then started put the little bed inside of the crib, along with the bedsheet, the warm blanket, the soft comfy pillow, and a little fluffy hearts-shape cushion inside. Shadow then started to put the baby books on the top shelf, little baby-safe toys and plushies on the middle shelf, and diapers, wipes, and ointment on the bottom shelf.
Shadow then started to take a beautiful set of mesh light pink drapes and started to set them above the crib. Shadow next takes out the mobile that was of different colored Flickies on it, smiling as he sets it above the crib where the baby would sleep. Shadow takes the swaddles, the burp cloths, and the bibs and puts them all in a bin, placing them under the changing area of the crib. Shadow then brings in the rocking chair and places it near the window, putting a soft cushion on it. Shadow goes to get the baby swing and puts it near the corner of the room that was near the door, making sure the swing can actually move side to side without it hitting the wall so he can feel better about protecting the baby.
"Almost finished" Shadow said to himself as he takes out a bag of things that he specifically bought for the baby on his own accord. First, he takes out a Chaos Emerald cushion and places it at the very bottom right corner of the crib. Next, he takes out a light pink crib protector for the baby, beginning to tie the strings on the crib's slats to make sure his baby is protected when sleeping inside. Then, he had a beautiful Chaos Emerald night light for the baby in case he or she is scared of the dark and quiet room at night and puts it in the outlet. Lastly, he had a beautiful acrylic palm tree lamp that he put on the shelf, making sure the light worked nicely for when he or Sonic needed to use it inside the baby's room before sitting down in the rocking chair to rest a bit.
Shadow wiped his forehead as he smiled at the hard work that they did, seeing the time was now 5:15PM, being 1 hour and 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Shadow slowly got back up, closed the door, and walked down to the others, feeling accomplished that he finished making his office into a baby room in more than 7 hours. The others were downstairs and drinking the lemonade he made, feeling refreshed and better. "Can you believe that in 3 days, Sonic is going to have a baby?" Tails asked as the others agreed and were murmuring a bit among each other.
"Sonic is going to make a lovely parent" Silver said as the others awe at his opinion. "Yeah, Sonic deserves to be a mother, he is very caring and kind, and that baby will be so unconditionally loved by him, I know he will make the best option for the baby" Amy said. "Does that make us all technically aunts and uncles too? We are like one big family here" Knuckles asked, making everyone look in shock. "For once, I actually think Knuckles is making a good point, since we are all like a family, it would truly somewhat make us all aunts and uncles to the little baby" Rouge said.
"When the baby comes, we all need to promise to protect this child, he or she will be needing our protection, we can't let the baby fall into the wrong hands, we will make sure they are safe" Tails said as he stands up and puts his hand out. "I am in, no way will I let that adorable little baby be in danger" Silver said as he puts his hand on Tails' hand. "As much as I am an entity and all, I don't want to see a little baby hurt, so count me in for protecting the baby" Fleetway said as he puts his hand on top as well. "As a fighter myself, I will always protect those who need protection, just like Sonic would do, so, yes, I am protecting that baby" Rookie said as he puts his hand in.
"This baby will need all the protection they need, and I am willing to protect the little one with all my strength I can muster" Espio said as he also puts his hand in. "This baby deserves us to save them, I don't want the baby in harm not one bit, I will make sure of that" Amy said as he puts her hand on top of the other hands. "As once a protector of other dimensional emeralds, this is a duty I can't pass down, so yes, I will be part of this movement too" Blaze said as she puts her hand in. "T-This is a huge responsibility, but, I-I won't let the baby get in harm's way, I-I will be protecting the baby with you a-all" Whisper said as she puts her hand on top of the others as well.
"Protecting the Master Emerald is easy, but protecting a little baby, would be hard, but I will give it a try! Count me in!" Knuckles said as he puts his hand on top of the other hands. "Once a deity of destruction to now a protector of a baby? Interesting, I will accept this proposition without hesitation, sign me up" Mephiles said as he puts his hand in. "This is all mushy and all, but, yeah, babies in danger is a no-no, so, I will help out" Scourge said as he puts his hand in as well. "I once tried to hurt others, I want to show I am worthy and proven innocent once again, and this baby will help me to achieve that goal, so, I am taking care of that baby and protecting them with my life" Infinite said as he puts his hand on top.
"Sure there will be a time when someone in need will come again, and that time is now, only 3 more days until the baby is born, all the protection is necessary, I will be there to do just that" Mighty said as he puts his hand on top as well. "No money involved but, a baby's life is better than money, so, this is something I am going to deal with anyway, I'm in chums" Vector said as he puts his hand on the other hands. "That poor little baby, I am surely going to be helping out, I can't let Shadow down, not protecting this baby will be the worst thing, so this bat's gotta join this precautionary cause" Rouge said as she puts her hand in.
"Ha, this will easy for me, my tail can whip anyone away, that baby will be more protected than a Chaos Emerald getting stolen from Eggman" Tangle said as she puts her hand on top of the others. "I once failed in protecting my people, but this time, I will protect someone much greater, so yes, I accept being part of this protection group" Tikal said as she was the last to put her hand on the top. "That makes you all Freedom Fighters now! We can't let anyone hurt the little girl or boy, not going to let anything stop us from doing so! Now, Freedom Fighters, protect in the name of Freedom!" Tails said.
"Protect in the name of Freedom!" The others said as they all raised their hands up high, signifying their promise being sealed. "Speaking of which, where is Shadow? Is he still upstairs?" Rouge asked. "Maybe, but let's leave him for a bit" Tails said as the others went back to relaxing and enjoying some freshly made blueberry lemonade. Shadow on the other hand was knocked out in the rocking chair upstairs, tired from all the work they had to do to make sure the room was ready by the time Sonic got back, Shadow smiling in his sleep as he knew Sonic was going to like his little surprise he made for him and the newborn baby they will have soon.
~At 7PM~
Rouge quickly made a note on the door and quickly went to hiding in the garage with everyone else so they don't get seen by Sonic. Sonic was coming out of the car with his siblings, laughing and eating some leftover movie popcorn and carrying a few bags. "I am so happy we got to have a siblings day together, it was so much fun!" Sonia said with a smile. "Yeah, did you taste how good that takoyaki was?! Man, you ate a lot today!" Manic said with a laugh. "Yeah, I had a blast, thank you for taking me with you two" Sonic said as he takes out the keys and started to unlock the door but then immediately saw a sign on the door, taking it off and reading it.
"Scream for me to come down, I want to show you something I wanted to give you as your surprise, Love Shadow" Sonic read out loud. "You might wanna cover your sweet eardrums my dear brother and dear sister" Sonic said as he took a deep breath, Sonia and Manic covering their ears before something happened. Sonic then screamed loudly that it sounded like a woman in distress but got more high pitched as the scream continued, causing Shadow to wake up out of bed and run downstairs, opening up the door to see a screaming pregnant boyfriend 3 feet away from him, Shadow sighing but smiling as he kissed his cheek, causing Sonic to stop screaming and smile as well.
"Okay, you can uncover your ears Sonia and Manic, I stopped screaming, you are both safe now" Sonic said as he nuzzled on Shadow. Sonia and Manic did as they were told and sighed in relief. "I am so happy to see you again" Sonic said as he hugged Shadow. "Babe, you have been gone for 9 hours" Shadow said as he hugged back. "It felt like eternity" Sonic said as he kisses his lips, Shadow kissing back while holding him. "They are so cute together" Sonia said. "Yep, and they are both stronger than one alone, they are perfect" Manic said. After a few seconds, Sonic and Shadow break the kiss and purr as they nuzzle on each other for a bit.
"How was your day?" Shadow asked. "Oh it was so amazing! We got to see the Station Square Desperados! Got to go to the arcade and win some tickets for a nicely scented candle that smells like strawberries! Got to eat some delicious japanese samples at the mall, so good! And I even got to see Green Hill once again, so beautiful let me tell you Shads!" Sonic said as he wagged his tail. "I am glad you have fun, because I have something to show you, it is a surprise so no peaking when we get upstairs mister" Shadow said as he takes Sonic's hand and drags him into the house.
Sonic was confused but walked upstairs as Knuckles texted the siblings to let them quietly get out of the garage, making them laugh and follow what they were told while Sonic was preoccupied. Shadow kept on leading Sonic up the stairs and smiled as they were getting closer. As they arrived at the top of the staircase, Shadow looked at Sonic and kissed his head. "Close your eyes and no peeking mister, that will ruin my surprise" Shadow said with a chuckle as he waited for Sonic to close his eyes. Sonic nodded and closed his eyes, Shadow waving his hand softly in front of his eyes to see if he really had them closed before walking to the room that was his old office.
"Can I open them now?" Sonic asked as they were still walking. "Keep them closed my love" Shadow said as he kept walking with Sonic, almost to the room. "Okay, I will keep them closed" Sonic said as he suddenly felt Shadow stopping all movement, going behind him and covering his eyes with his hands. "You ready?" Shadow asked as he looked at the room and smiled. "Let me see already!!! This is too much for my brain to handle! Let me look!" Sonic said as he wagged his tail fast. Shadow smiled more and slowly takes his hands off of his eyes, Sonic opening his own eyes and gasping as he saw Shadow's old office which was now a room filled with baby stuff.
Shadow chuckled at Sonic's reaction, softly pushing his back a bit to tell him that he can look around. Sonic slowly went inside and saw the beautiful pink walls, the shelves, the crib, and even the light fixture, making him touch the stuff to see if this was really happening. "Y-You did all of this? F-For me?" Sonic asked as he sheds tears of happiness as he giggled at the sight of how beautifully done the room was for their little baby. "Well, not all my hard work" Shadow said as all of their friends were near the doorway, Sonic shedding more tears since they were all a part of the little project.
"You can thank me mostly hun, I got the whole crew together to whip up this beauty for you, but it was all Shadow who told us where to place everything and help us out with the building, the painting, and even the placement of everything, he wanted to have this room for your baby, and we all did our part to make it happen while you were out" Rouge said with a smile as the group smiled at him, seeing his reaction to be so genuine. "Y-You guys are the best! Look at how beautiful this room is! And everything is placed ever so nice and neat, and even everything else fits together, I couldn't be happier to know this was my baby's future room!" Sonic said as he hugged Shadow.
"Thank you so much honey!" Sonic said as he cried happy tears. Shadow hugged back and kissed his head. "You're welcome my love, my baby gets her own room, she is going to love it" Shadow said with a smile, now believing that they were going to have a baby girl like Sonic predicted. "So that is why you wanted me out of the house!" Sonic said with a laugh while wiping his tears. "Yep, your fiance REALLY wanted this done today and asked us personally to distract you" Sonia said. "Yeah, and plus, you had no idea, so win-win!" Manic said.
Sonic smiled but then heard something coming from their bedroom, cracking noises, that sounded like something was breaking, or, maybe perhaps hatching. Sonic held his hand up as he heard the sounds and gasped even louder, quickly walking to the bedroom and taking out the basket of the Chao eggs, transporting them to the living room while everyone else came down to see what was going on. "SHADOW, IT'S HAPPENING, THEY ARE HATCHING!!!" Sonic said as Shadow quickly ran downstairs to see the eggs cracking and shaking a bit.
The others watched in silence as the blue egg and the red and black egg were cracking more. "Come on little ones! You can do it! Come out! Time to be born!" Sonic said as he wagged his tail fast and wondered what kind of Chao were in the eggs. "Guess they wanted to come and celebrate our baby just in the nick of time" Shadow said as he watched the eggs. Suddenly, the blue egg cracked the top off, an opening being shown. Sonic was about to open the egg more to help the Chao out but Tikal stopped him from doing it. "Let the Chao find their way out, it is a natural birth that needs to be continued" Tikal said. "Alright, I will let them come out on their own Tikal" Sonic said with a smile, excited to see the Chao fully show themselves.
The blue Chao egg then sprouted two little arms pushing against the top of the shell, making the eggshell crack off more, finally revealing Chao, causing Sonic to gasp in happiness as one of the Chao looked like him, the color being a beautiful royal blue and some black hue on its belly, ends of the arms, and the tips of the ears, along with a floating blue sphere on its head that was also blue, and seeing the Chao's eye color being a dark blue. Sonic also saw that the Chao had three spikes, a pair of wings, no tail, but also had two little back quills just like he has. Sonic smiled brightly as he slowly picked up the Chao and held him close. "Hi, welcome to the world little Chao" Sonic said as the Chao made noises and smiled happily.
Shadow looked at the other Chao egg that suddenly kicked the eggshell off on the bottom, making both of its feet pop out, then the Chao suddenly punched the eggshell revealing both arms, and finally, the Chao bursts the eggshell from the top, revealing its head before the Chao fully breaks off the eggshell, revealing its look. Shadow saw he was a black Chao with red stripes on its chest, the sides of its arms, the inside of its ears, its head, its quills, and the border of its feet. Shadow then looked and saw the Chao also had three quills, a pair of purple bat-like wings along with a floating red spike ball on its head that was also red. Shadow looked closer and saw it had a little tail that had a pointy edge on it, kind of like a devil's tail. When Shadow stared into its eyes, he saw they were blue and white, slowly picking up the Chao and petting it.
"Hello young Chao, don't be alarmed, we won't hurt you, we just want to care for you, that's all, must I say, you and the other Chao strikingly resemble me and my partner a lot, but either way, we will take care of you both, as if you were both our kids, at least, that is what Sonic would want" Shadow said as he went to Sonic as both the Chao looked and stared at each other, the others seeing how the two would interact. The blue Chao softly places his stubby hand on the black and red Chao, both of them making adorable Chao laughter, showing they got along rather quickly. Sonic giggled softly as he thought their little interaction was just too sweet. "I am gonna name you Sonic Chao, and you Shadow Chao, since you are like us and are too cute!" Sonic said while watching the Chao enjoy themselves with what Shadow said about them being able to stay, their trust in both of them being very big and pure.
"I guess they will be like brothers from now on, right little Chao, how does that sound to the both of you?" Sonic asked as his Chao and Shadow's Chao started to fly with their little wings, hugging each other and smiling. Everyone in the room awed at this adorable yet sweet hug making Sonic and Shadow laugh a bit at their Chao. "Guess our baby will have 2 little roommates after all, she will love them! What a wonderful second surprise for both of us!" Sonic said with a smile. "Yeah, a pleasent surprise, she won't be so lonely in there with those two around to keep her from feeling alone, I will be sure to have little beds for the Chao when the little baby gets older" Shadow said as he takes both of the Chao and hugged them with Sonic, Shadow being happy they will all be a happy family and the room being a wonderful accomplishment for their own home and one Sonic will remember for the rest of his life as they all hugged together with their Chao, the others smiling at the happy future family's expression of love and joy.

"Have a great time you three, bye" Shadow said as he kisses Sonic on the head before closing the door, Sonic, Sonia, and Manic going into Aleena's car they borrowed for the day, driving away so they can't get to have their sibling's time. Shadow then waited for them to leave as he then calls Rouge. "Hey, meet me at the hardware store, we got work to do" Shadow said as he then hangs up the phone and goes into Sonic's car, riding it to where he wanted their meet-up place to be, hoping he gets what he wanted his surprise to be for Sonic in their house.
~At the Hardware Store~
Shadow arrived and to his surprise, he saw all the couples there, except for Manic and Sonia for obvious reasons, himself looking majorly confused. "Why are they here Rouge" Shadow asked as he got out of Sonic's car. "I told them to come and help us out, we need all the help we can get, we only got so much time" Rouge said. "Yeah, what do you need help with? We can surely help you out!" Tails said. "Well, this is something for the baby, and I have been thinking about it since last night, but, I want the baby to have their own room, so, my office is gonna be moved downstairs and the baby is going to be upstairs with us if anything, but I need help" Shadow said.
"Aww, that is so sweet! Sure, we can help you make the room ready for a baby in no time! And you got the perfect hedgehog to transport and move all of your stuff with the power of his mind!" Silver said as he pointed at himself. "Alright, you all can help, besides, me and Rouge would not be able to finish in time anyway, we only got 9 hours until Sonic comes back, and I need this room done before then" Shadow said. "Alrighty! Any theme we working on?" Amy asked. "Well, Sonic told me himself, that, the baby might, MIGHT, be a girl, so, I want the room to be painted a nice shade of pink, can you handle the paint Rose?" Shadow asked Amy.
"Oh she definitely can, she just painted someone's new house last week!" Blaze said with a smile as she nuzzled Amy. "Alright, Espio, Mighty, Vector, can you help with the crib please? I need help with that" Shadow asked. "Leave that to us, we can surely do it for you" Espio said as Vector then put him on his right shoulder and held him there. "Wonderful, Scourge and Fleetway, can you help pick out a light fixture, a pretty one would do" Shadow asked. "Sure, will do, no worries about that" Fleetway said as he nuzzles on Scourge. "That would be nice, Rookie and Infinite, can you help me get pretty sheets for the baby's crib, one to match the theme?" Shadow asked.
"Of course! Leave that to me and him, we got this!" Rookie said as he kissed Infinite's cheek. "Good, Tails and Knuckles, help with the storage shelf, I would need it to make sure the baby has everything it needs" Shadow said. "Sure thing, me and him will help all we can!" Tails said as he hugged on Knuckles. "Alright, Silver and Mephiles, you work on the baby's mobile, get something that is sweet and soothing to the ear and that is in the words of "adorable" if you can" Shadow said. "Of course, the baby deserves a cute little mobile, ain't that right sweetie?" Silver said as he kissed Mephiles' nose.
"Sure thing, whatever is nice there, Blaze and Rouge, can you help find some things that are for baby girls? Like swaddles, burping cloths, bibs, anything that will be useful for the baby" Shadow said. "Leave that to us women to do it, right babe?" Blaze said as she licked Rouge's head with a purr. "Thank you, Whisper, Tangle, and Tikal, can you help me with the curtains, the rocking chair, the baby swing, and the baby books? I will surely be needing those for the baby when they need a nap or need to get some rest" Shadow said. "O-Oh absolutely, we can help out, r-right?" Whisper said as Tangle hugged her from behind.
"Sure thing, we will do anything to help you out, we are all in this together, as friends, we need to help those who need the help, and by chaos, you need that help, so yeah, we are all willing participants in your little room makeover" Tikal said with a smile. "Wonderful, meet me at my house at 12PM, that gives us 2 hours to find all the things we need, can I count on you all? Sonia and Manic aren't here because Sonic is with them, so we need to all be finished within 7 hours after getting to my house, now, hustle!" Shadow said as he went inside the hardware store while the others went to go to the other stores to find what they need.
~At 12PM~
Shadow and the others gathered the things they would need, all of them moving everything out of Shadow's now-old office. "Okay, Rose, you start the painting with the other girls, the guys and I are gonna build the stuff, that way we can be quicker" Shadow said as he opens the box for the shelf and takes out all of the pieces so they can work together to build it, along with the instructions that came with it. "If we do all of this, then we will be sure to fix everything around at 5PM, so 5 hours is our goal" Shadow said as the others nodded and got to work.
~At 5PM~
Shadow and the others were almost finished, the room was painted a beautiful shade of pink called rose, the shelf built, the crib built, and the beautiful light fixture that was crystal cluster-shaped. Mighty helped move all of the heavy items inside since he was the strongest one they had, the girls were working together to put up the curtains, and the boys were helping with the hardware and placing them where Shadow wanted them to go. Shadow on the other hand was screwing in the crystal cluster-shaped light for the baby's room so he can be done with that quickly and go back to helping the others.
"Alright, the light fixture is up and it looks so magnificent, I will take care of the rest, made you all some blueberry lemonade downstairs, take a break, you all did a great job in helping me" Shadow said as the others smiled at their hard work and walk out of the room to refresh themselves as Shadow then started put the little bed inside of the crib, along with the bedsheet, the warm blanket, the soft comfy pillow, and a little fluffy hearts-shape cushion inside. Shadow then started to put the baby books on the top shelf, little baby-safe toys and plushies on the middle shelf, and diapers, wipes, and ointment on the bottom shelf.
Shadow then started to take a beautiful set of mesh light pink drapes and started to set them above the crib. Shadow next takes out the mobile that was of different colored Flickies on it, smiling as he sets it above the crib where the baby would sleep. Shadow takes the swaddles, the burp cloths, and the bibs and puts them all in a bin, placing them under the changing area of the crib. Shadow then brings in the rocking chair and places it near the window, putting a soft cushion on it. Shadow goes to get the baby swing and puts it near the corner of the room that was near the door, making sure the swing can actually move side to side without it hitting the wall so he can feel better about protecting the baby.
"Almost finished" Shadow said to himself as he takes out a bag of things that he specifically bought for the baby on his own accord. First, he takes out a Chaos Emerald cushion and places it at the very bottom right corner of the crib. Next, he takes out a light pink crib protector for the baby, beginning to tie the strings on the crib's slats to make sure his baby is protected when sleeping inside. Then, he had a beautiful Chaos Emerald night light for the baby in case he or she is scared of the dark and quiet room at night and puts it in the outlet. Lastly, he had a beautiful acrylic palm tree lamp that he put on the shelf, making sure the light worked nicely for when he or Sonic needed to use it inside the baby's room before sitting down in the rocking chair to rest a bit.
Shadow wiped his forehead as he smiled at the hard work that they did, seeing the time was now 5:15PM, being 1 hour and 45 minutes ahead of schedule. Shadow slowly got back up, closed the door, and walked down to the others, feeling accomplished that he finished making his office into a baby room in more than 7 hours. The others were downstairs and drinking the lemonade he made, feeling refreshed and better. "Can you believe that in 3 days, Sonic is going to have a baby?" Tails asked as the others agreed and were murmuring a bit among each other.
"Sonic is going to make a lovely parent" Silver said as the others awe at his opinion. "Yeah, Sonic deserves to be a mother, he is very caring and kind, and that baby will be so unconditionally loved by him, I know he will make the best option for the baby" Amy said. "Does that make us all technically aunts and uncles too? We are like one big family here" Knuckles asked, making everyone look in shock. "For once, I actually think Knuckles is making a good point, since we are all like a family, it would truly somewhat make us all aunts and uncles to the little baby" Rouge said.
"When the baby comes, we all need to promise to protect this child, he or she will be needing our protection, we can't let the baby fall into the wrong hands, we will make sure they are safe" Tails said as he stands up and puts his hand out. "I am in, no way will I let that adorable little baby be in danger" Silver said as he puts his hand on Tails' hand. "As much as I am an entity and all, I don't want to see a little baby hurt, so count me in for protecting the baby" Fleetway said as he puts his hand on top as well. "As a fighter myself, I will always protect those who need protection, just like Sonic would do, so, yes, I am protecting that baby" Rookie said as he puts his hand in.
"This baby will need all the protection they need, and I am willing to protect the little one with all my strength I can muster" Espio said as he also puts his hand in. "This baby deserves us to save them, I don't want the baby in harm not one bit, I will make sure of that" Amy said as he puts her hand on top of the other hands. "As once a protector of other dimensional emeralds, this is a duty I can't pass down, so yes, I will be part of this movement too" Blaze said as she puts her hand in. "T-This is a huge responsibility, but, I-I won't let the baby get in harm's way, I-I will be protecting the baby with you a-all" Whisper said as she puts her hand on top of the others as well.
"Protecting the Master Emerald is easy, but protecting a little baby, would be hard, but I will give it a try! Count me in!" Knuckles said as he puts his hand on top of the other hands. "Once a deity of destruction to now a protector of a baby? Interesting, I will accept this proposition without hesitation, sign me up" Mephiles said as he puts his hand in. "This is all mushy and all, but, yeah, babies in danger is a no-no, so, I will help out" Scourge said as he puts his hand in as well. "I once tried to hurt others, I want to show I am worthy and proven innocent once again, and this baby will help me to achieve that goal, so, I am taking care of that baby and protecting them with my life" Infinite said as he puts his hand on top.
"Sure there will be a time when someone in need will come again, and that time is now, only 3 more days until the baby is born, all the protection is necessary, I will be there to do just that" Mighty said as he puts his hand on top as well. "No money involved but, a baby's life is better than money, so, this is something I am going to deal with anyway, I'm in chums" Vector said as he puts his hand on the other hands. "That poor little baby, I am surely going to be helping out, I can't let Shadow down, not protecting this baby will be the worst thing, so this bat's gotta join this precautionary cause" Rouge said as she puts her hand in.
"Ha, this will easy for me, my tail can whip anyone away, that baby will be more protected than a Chaos Emerald getting stolen from Eggman" Tangle said as she puts her hand on top of the others. "I once failed in protecting my people, but this time, I will protect someone much greater, so yes, I accept being part of this protection group" Tikal said as she was the last to put her hand on the top. "That makes you all Freedom Fighters now! We can't let anyone hurt the little girl or boy, not going to let anything stop us from doing so! Now, Freedom Fighters, protect in the name of Freedom!" Tails said.
"Protect in the name of Freedom!" The others said as they all raised their hands up high, signifying their promise being sealed. "Speaking of which, where is Shadow? Is he still upstairs?" Rouge asked. "Maybe, but let's leave him for a bit" Tails said as the others went back to relaxing and enjoying some freshly made blueberry lemonade. Shadow on the other hand was knocked out in the rocking chair upstairs, tired from all the work they had to do to make sure the room was ready by the time Sonic got back, Shadow smiling in his sleep as he knew Sonic was going to like his little surprise he made for him and the newborn baby they will have soon.
~At 7PM~
Rouge quickly made a note on the door and quickly went to hiding in the garage with everyone else so they don't get seen by Sonic. Sonic was coming out of the car with his siblings, laughing and eating some leftover movie popcorn and carrying a few bags. "I am so happy we got to have a siblings day together, it was so much fun!" Sonia said with a smile. "Yeah, did you taste how good that takoyaki was?! Man, you ate a lot today!" Manic said with a laugh. "Yeah, I had a blast, thank you for taking me with you two" Sonic said as he takes out the keys and started to unlock the door but then immediately saw a sign on the door, taking it off and reading it.
"Scream for me to come down, I want to show you something I wanted to give you as your surprise, Love Shadow" Sonic read out loud. "You might wanna cover your sweet eardrums my dear brother and dear sister" Sonic said as he took a deep breath, Sonia and Manic covering their ears before something happened. Sonic then screamed loudly that it sounded like a woman in distress but got more high pitched as the scream continued, causing Shadow to wake up out of bed and run downstairs, opening up the door to see a screaming pregnant boyfriend 3 feet away from him, Shadow sighing but smiling as he kissed his cheek, causing Sonic to stop screaming and smile as well.
"Okay, you can uncover your ears Sonia and Manic, I stopped screaming, you are both safe now" Sonic said as he nuzzled on Shadow. Sonia and Manic did as they were told and sighed in relief. "I am so happy to see you again" Sonic said as he hugged Shadow. "Babe, you have been gone for 9 hours" Shadow said as he hugged back. "It felt like eternity" Sonic said as he kisses his lips, Shadow kissing back while holding him. "They are so cute together" Sonia said. "Yep, and they are both stronger than one alone, they are perfect" Manic said. After a few seconds, Sonic and Shadow break the kiss and purr as they nuzzle on each other for a bit.
"How was your day?" Shadow asked. "Oh it was so amazing! We got to see the Station Square Desperados! Got to go to the arcade and win some tickets for a nicely scented candle that smells like strawberries! Got to eat some delicious japanese samples at the mall, so good! And I even got to see Green Hill once again, so beautiful let me tell you Shads!" Sonic said as he wagged his tail. "I am glad you have fun, because I have something to show you, it is a surprise so no peaking when we get upstairs mister" Shadow said as he takes Sonic's hand and drags him into the house.
Sonic was confused but walked upstairs as Knuckles texted the siblings to let them quietly get out of the garage, making them laugh and follow what they were told while Sonic was preoccupied. Shadow kept on leading Sonic up the stairs and smiled as they were getting closer. As they arrived at the top of the staircase, Shadow looked at Sonic and kissed his head. "Close your eyes and no peeking mister, that will ruin my surprise" Shadow said with a chuckle as he waited for Sonic to close his eyes. Sonic nodded and closed his eyes, Shadow waving his hand softly in front of his eyes to see if he really had them closed before walking to the room that was his old office.
"Can I open them now?" Sonic asked as they were still walking. "Keep them closed my love" Shadow said as he kept walking with Sonic, almost to the room. "Okay, I will keep them closed" Sonic said as he suddenly felt Shadow stopping all movement, going behind him and covering his eyes with his hands. "You ready?" Shadow asked as he looked at the room and smiled. "Let me see already!!! This is too much for my brain to handle! Let me look!" Sonic said as he wagged his tail fast. Shadow smiled more and slowly takes his hands off of his eyes, Sonic opening his own eyes and gasping as he saw Shadow's old office which was now a room filled with baby stuff.
Shadow chuckled at Sonic's reaction, softly pushing his back a bit to tell him that he can look around. Sonic slowly went inside and saw the beautiful pink walls, the shelves, the crib, and even the light fixture, making him touch the stuff to see if this was really happening. "Y-You did all of this? F-For me?" Sonic asked as he sheds tears of happiness as he giggled at the sight of how beautifully done the room was for their little baby. "Well, not all my hard work" Shadow said as all of their friends were near the doorway, Sonic shedding more tears since they were all a part of the little project.
"You can thank me mostly hun, I got the whole crew together to whip up this beauty for you, but it was all Shadow who told us where to place everything and help us out with the building, the painting, and even the placement of everything, he wanted to have this room for your baby, and we all did our part to make it happen while you were out" Rouge said with a smile as the group smiled at him, seeing his reaction to be so genuine. "Y-You guys are the best! Look at how beautiful this room is! And everything is placed ever so nice and neat, and even everything else fits together, I couldn't be happier to know this was my baby's future room!" Sonic said as he hugged Shadow.
"Thank you so much honey!" Sonic said as he cried happy tears. Shadow hugged back and kissed his head. "You're welcome my love, my baby gets her own room, she is going to love it" Shadow said with a smile, now believing that they were going to have a baby girl like Sonic predicted. "So that is why you wanted me out of the house!" Sonic said with a laugh while wiping his tears. "Yep, your fiance REALLY wanted this done today and asked us personally to distract you" Sonia said. "Yeah, and plus, you had no idea, so win-win!" Manic said.
Sonic smiled but then heard something coming from their bedroom, cracking noises, that sounded like something was breaking, or, maybe perhaps hatching. Sonic held his hand up as he heard the sounds and gasped even louder, quickly walking to the bedroom and taking out the basket of the Chao eggs, transporting them to the living room while everyone else came down to see what was going on. "SHADOW, IT'S HAPPENING, THEY ARE HATCHING!!!" Sonic said as Shadow quickly ran downstairs to see the eggs cracking and shaking a bit.
The others watched in silence as the blue egg and the red and black egg were cracking more. "Come on little ones! You can do it! Come out! Time to be born!" Sonic said as he wagged his tail fast and wondered what kind of Chao were in the eggs. "Guess they wanted to come and celebrate our baby just in the nick of time" Shadow said as he watched the eggs. Suddenly, the blue egg cracked the top off, an opening being shown. Sonic was about to open the egg more to help the Chao out but Tikal stopped him from doing it. "Let the Chao find their way out, it is a natural birth that needs to be continued" Tikal said. "Alright, I will let them come out on their own Tikal" Sonic said with a smile, excited to see the Chao fully show themselves.
The blue Chao egg then sprouted two little arms pushing against the top of the shell, making the eggshell crack off more, finally revealing Chao, causing Sonic to gasp in happiness as one of the Chao looked like him, the color being a beautiful royal blue and some black hue on its belly, ends of the arms, and the tips of the ears, along with a floating blue sphere on its head that was also blue, and seeing the Chao's eye color being a dark blue. Sonic also saw that the Chao had three spikes, a pair of wings, no tail, but also had two little back quills just like he has. Sonic smiled brightly as he slowly picked up the Chao and held him close. "Hi, welcome to the world little Chao" Sonic said as the Chao made noises and smiled happily.
Shadow looked at the other Chao egg that suddenly kicked the eggshell off on the bottom, making both of its feet pop out, then the Chao suddenly punched the eggshell revealing both arms, and finally, the Chao bursts the eggshell from the top, revealing its head before the Chao fully breaks off the eggshell, revealing its look. Shadow saw he was a black Chao with red stripes on its chest, the sides of its arms, the inside of its ears, its head, its quills, and the border of its feet. Shadow then looked and saw the Chao also had three quills, a pair of purple bat-like wings along with a floating red spike ball on its head that was also red. Shadow looked closer and saw it had a little tail that had a pointy edge on it, kind of like a devil's tail. When Shadow stared into its eyes, he saw they were blue and white, slowly picking up the Chao and petting it.
"Hello young Chao, don't be alarmed, we won't hurt you, we just want to care for you, that's all, must I say, you and the other Chao strikingly resemble me and my partner a lot, but either way, we will take care of you both, as if you were both our kids, at least, that is what Sonic would want" Shadow said as he went to Sonic as both the Chao looked and stared at each other, the others seeing how the two would interact. The blue Chao softly places his stubby hand on the black and red Chao, both of them making adorable Chao laughter, showing they got along rather quickly. Sonic giggled softly as he thought their little interaction was just too sweet. "I am gonna name you Sonic Chao, and you Shadow Chao, since you are like us and are too cute!" Sonic said while watching the Chao enjoy themselves with what Shadow said about them being able to stay, their trust in both of them being very big and pure.
"I guess they will be like brothers from now on, right little Chao, how does that sound to the both of you?" Sonic asked as his Chao and Shadow's Chao started to fly with their little wings, hugging each other and smiling. Everyone in the room awed at this adorable yet sweet hug making Sonic and Shadow laugh a bit at their Chao. "Guess our baby will have 2 little roommates after all, she will love them! What a wonderful second surprise for both of us!" Sonic said with a smile. "Yeah, a pleasent surprise, she won't be so lonely in there with those two around to keep her from feeling alone, I will be sure to have little beds for the Chao when the little baby gets older" Shadow said as he takes both of the Chao and hugged them with Sonic, Shadow being happy they will all be a happy family and the room being a wonderful accomplishment for their own home and one Sonic will remember for the rest of his life as they all hugged together with their Chao, the others smiling at the happy future family's expression of love and joy.
