~Within Eggman's Backup Lair~
Sonic was holding his belly as he shed tears, still shocked over the fact he was taken again just like that. "Finally! I know you will give birth soon! You keep showing signs of pain and because of that! The more I see the pain in your eyes, the more I know the baby will be on the way! This is where I win Sonic! YOU LOSE!!!" Eggman said as he laughed loudly as Sage smiled at her father, her eyes showing a lifeless-like red glow. "I am so happy, once this baby is born, I will take good care of them father, as the cousin this baby truly deserves, I won't let you down again" Sage said evilly as her new drive was corrupting her true self, Eggman pleased by this revelation.
"Good work Sage, make me proud, now go out there and control the entire Eggman robot hordes!" Eggman demanded. "Yes father, will do, all for you and your success of course" Sage said as she floated out and disappeared. "Soon, this will all be over, if you keep denying or retaliating, it will only be worse for you" Eggman said as Orbot and Cubot helped the doctor with Sonic's progress on when he will birth the baby. "Sir, he seems to be having these painful spasms called contractions, it simply means he is preparing for the baby to come out" Orbot said as Sonic pins his ears down, knowing this might be the last he will be with his little baby. "Excellent, keep up the work, and no slacking off!" Eggman said as he went to his backup computers and typed to make sure everything was still going according to his sadistic little scheme.
~In Parts of Ouranos Island~
"Shadow, we are locating the Cyan Chaos Emerald, which one are you trying to find, so we can jot down who is going after which Emerald!" Tails asked. "The Red one! The one that was on the map near the flower field! The quickest one for me for now! Keep an eye out for Egg Tech! The doctor might look smart, but he doesn't know how strong we are when combined! Stay within groups! Me, I am taking it on alone since I have my Chaos Energy to use! Keep me updated fox!" Shadow said as he skated and saw the Red Chaos Emerald in a Vault. As he got near it, he felt the power of the Chaos Emerald's essence glowing into his soul.
"Ah, Sonic welcome back— Oh, you are not Sonic the Hedgehog, sorry young hedgehog one, forgive my misunderstanding, you almost look somewhat like him" An old voice said as Shadow looked at who spoke to him, to his surprise, it was a tall Koco with a long moss beard and small eyes. "Sonic? You know him?" Shadow asked quickly as he looked at the Koco. "Yes, he was here when the Starfall Islands were in danger, I am the Hermit Koco, the one who knows about combat and defense you know, but still, I am confused of what brings you here, I have never seen anyone other than Sonic before" The Hermit Koco replied. "He is in danger, I am going to save him though, he is here in this very island" Shadow said as he looked at the Emerald he was about to grab.
"These Emeralds are more than what you are wanting them for right?" The Hermit Koco asked. "Yes, 7 once collected, a miracle happens" Shadow said as he grabbed the Red Chaos Emerald, obtaining 3 Emeralds now. "Just be careful young hedgehog, enemies might go against you, stay on your feet and you will be alright, and now, I go back to the Digital Dream" The Hermit Koco said as he slowly goes to rest. "I will keep that in mind, Hermit Koco" Shadow said as he skated away into the flower field while notifying Tails and the others he obtained the 3rd Emerald at the location that was on the map, Tails marking it off of their trackers and notifying the others 4 Emeralds were left to collect.
'I have to hurry, this is going to be close, but, I am not giving up even if Eggman hits me with everything he's got! Sonic needs to be saved and now!' Shadow thought as he ran into some Badniks who were trying to attack a group of 5 Koco, the little guys helpless and not able to fight back due to them being small and not able to give much of a fight. Shadow growled as he skated towards to Badniks, jumping up and using his bare clenched fists to smash them down, kicking the others into defeat and utter scrap metal. "Are you alright?" Shadow asked as he looked at the Koco, their face showing much appreciation that they were saved before something happened to them. "Let's get you to safety, it is not safe here for you 5, come with me, quickly" Shadow said as he allowed the Koco to follow him through his soul, running to a place they will be safe in the meantime.
He then saw another Koco that wasn't like the others, going to him and softly knocking on his head, waking him up. "Excuse me, can you please watch over them? This island is under attack and they can't defend themselves, you seem suitable to keep them safe" Shadow said. "Thank you kind hedgehog, I am the Elder Koco, these Koco will be cared for, no worries" the Elder Koco said as he saw the 5 Koco happily hopping around him, knowing they will be safe. "Thank you, now will you excuse me, I got a fight to prepare for and Chaos Emeralds to find" Shadow said as he skated away and started attacking upcoming Badniks along the way. Suddenly, bigger Badniks started to come into view of Shadow's sight. "More of them, I am not surprised doctor" Shadow said as he skated fast to them and charges up his Chaos Energy.
"CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow yelled as he throws the Chaos Charged spears at the Badniks, making them explode upon impact. "Shadow, Tails, everyone, we got the Blue Chaos Emerald at the far left of Ouranos on a hill in a vault! 3 more to find! I repeat, Blue Chaos Emerald has been obtained! 3 left to go!" Amy said into the communicator, Shadow hearing it and responding back while skating fast still. "Thank you Rose, keep it up everyone else, find the Emeralds quickly!" Shadow said as he stopped communicating and began to focus on defeating more Badniks so they don't surround the other Freedom Fighters from getting the Chaos Emeralds.
Minutes went by and Shadow heard his communicator speaking, listening carefully as he kept beating up the Badniks one by one. "Cyan Chaos Emerald found on the far right below a receding cliffside! The Cyan Chaos Emerald has been acquired, keep it up everyone! 2 Left! The Yellow one and the White one! We are almost there!" Tails said on his communicator. "Nice fox, who is near the Yellow Chaos Emerald's location?!" Shadow asked as he kicked a Badnik in the head, crushing its metal face into junk metal. "That will be me!" Knuckles said as he was locating the 6th Emerald. "It is where Shadow was but move more up, it is in a place with trees!" Amy said on the communicator.
"Sounds like a plan! Locating it now! Thanks Amy, I'll keep you all updated on the Emerald!" Knuckles said as he stopped talking on the communicator as Shadow was not along in destroying Badniks, as suddenly, most of the Freedom Fighters came running to the assistance of helping Shadow defeat the Badnik hordes. Shadow saw everyone coming and running to the Badniks that need to be destroyed except for Knuckles, Fleetway, Mighty, Tangle, and Tikal. "Need a lift?!" Tails asked as he held out his hands for Shadow while using his tails to fly. "Now we're getting somewhere, you are doing great fox!" Shadow said as he grabbed his hands, Tails lifting him up high in his grasp.
"Land me in between the Badniks over there! I can Chaos Blast them to scrap metal so this can go quicker!" Shadow said. "You got it!" Tails yelled as he flew near the group of Badniks while Shadow started charging his Chaos Energy. "Go Shadow! Destroy them!" Tails said as he let go of Shadow who was now falling to the middle of the Badnik horde. "CHAOS BLAST!" Shadow yelled as the moment he hits the ground, a big blast destroyed the robots in one fell swoop, his powers unstoppable at this moment for all of the Badniks that were fighting him and the others together. "I hope we are not to late! Only one Emerald after the echidna gets the Yellow Chaos Emerald!" Shadow said as he skated to the other Badniks and still fought them, not stopping until all of them are down.
~Inside of the Ancient Structure~
Sonic was trapped near the White Chaos Emerald as Eggman examined Sonic, knowing his time was running out. "The baby will come Sonic, you can stop the process of birth, and you know that all too well, you pathetic blue rodent, now, enjoy your last few moments left with the little rodent inside of you" Eggman said as he smirked at Sonic who was whimpering and shedding tears of pain. "Father, I am so glad your plan is almost complete, we will. . . What? Father! Something is going on outside! It seems Shadow and the others made it this way!" Sage yelled as Eggman hit the indestructible glass and went to his computer quickly. "IMPOSSIBLE!!! HOW DID THEY GET HERE?!" Eggman yelled as he used a little robot to show what was going on outside of the secret place Eggman chose to keep Sonic imprisoned.
"Boss, it seems Metal Sonic's tracking on you helped them make it here! Shadow isn't dumb sir, he used Metal against you!" Orbot said. "Yeah, and I know a thing or two about dumbness, it is something you put on your food for flavor!" Cubot said and Orbot sighed in frustration that Cubot answered in the dumbest way he could ever say. Sage growled lowly as she saw Shadow, her evil programming making her do something she knew would let her father win. "Father, let me fight him, I will give you more time! I already failed with the Badnik hordes for you, but I will fight him face-to-face for us!" Sage said. "No, it is dangerous for you! As your creator and father, I order you to stay here!" Eggman yelled at her. "But if he gets in here, you are a failure! The whole plan would be for nothing father! You can't stop me from doing something I can do to help ensure our success!" Sage said as she disappeared, Eggman shocked and angry that his creation was going against his commands.
~With Shadow and the Others~
"I FOUND THE YELLOW CHAOS EMERALD!!! I'M COMING OVER THERE TO ALL OF YOU IN NO TIME!" Knuckles yelled on the communicator. "Great job Knuckles! Take it to us! One Chaos Emerald left! We are so close!" Tails said as he stopped communicating with Knuckles. The others were finishing defeating the last of the Badniks as they were wanting this to end soon. Once Knuckles and his group got there, they began fighting again to help destroy the robots with the others hastily. Once the last robot was defeated, the others cheered, happy they are finished with destroying Eggman's robot hordes. "Where is the last Emerald fox?" Shadow asked but before Tails can answer while pointing at a pyramid-like ancient structure, Sage appeared before all of them, her face showing signs of anger and annoyance as she looked at them.
"YOU COULDN'T JUST LET FATHER DO THIS! YOU ARE TAKING THIS AWAY FROM HIM FOR WHAT?! JUST TO SPITE HIM?! MAKE HIM FEEL MORE OF A FOOL?! I WON'T LET YOU GET INSIDE!!! I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL MYSELF, BY FORCE IF I HAVE TO!!! YOU ARE ALL NOTHING BUT FAILURES!!! YOU ARE ALL JUST FIGHTERS WHO WON'T LEAVE FATHER ALONE!!! THIS ENDS HERE!!!!!" Sage said as she glitched out a lot, but then appeared near Shadow, about to strike him. Shadow felt the slightest bit of air from her appearing behind, leaping out of the way before she could do anything. "SAGE, IF YOU WANT TO FIGHT, THEN SO BE IT!!! COME AT ME!!! BUT KNOW THIS, I AM NOT GOING TO STOP UNTIL SONIC AND THE BABY ARE IN MY ARMS!!!" Shadow yelled as he looked at her with rage.
Sage laughed loudly as she glitched more, her black and red appearance going a bit out of control. "WANT ME?! COME AND GET ME!!!" Sage said as she floated away, going to the nearest portal that she can go though. Shadow growled loudly as he skated fast after her, wanting to end this relationship he once had with her for good once he defeats her. The others were on guard just in case more Badniks were appearing, which they were, in mass amounts this time. Sage laughed loudly as she went through the portal, Shadow noticing as he hastily went following soon after, not wanting her to get away from his grasp.
After a few minutes, Sage and Shadow appeared on the other little island, Sage floating away fast as Shadow still followed her. "YOU ARE NOTHING!!! YOU ARE JUST A HEDGEHOG WHO CAN'T EVEN PROTECT HIS LOVER, TIME IS RUNNING OUT SHADOW, YOU LOST!!!" Sage said as she saw Shadow quickly catching up, throwing a Chaos Spear at her, lightly cutting her cheek, a bit of blood flowing out of the fresh cut. Sage hissed as she felt her cheek stinging in a bit of pain, looking back at Shadow. "NOT BAD FOR ATTACKING ME!!! BUT WATCH, YOU WILL FALL THIS DAY, FOR FATHER!!!" Sage said as she floated near some grind rails, Shadow using this to his advantage, jumping on one of them and sliding up and forward to follow Sage much quicker.
Shadow growled loudly as he jumped at Sage and grabbed her, Sage using her hand to dig her fingers into his flesh, causing him to bleed as he fell with her. Shadow was about to finish her off as he fell to the ground with her, but, suddenly, he didn't have to heart to do something too cruel, remembering what she was like before this. He remembered how happy she was to feel belonged with him, Sonic, and the others, feeling like she found peace, for once in her life. Shadow had flashes of her being happy in his mind, but one thing stood out to him, her sweet little smile that showed her true feelings about being accepted by everyone that loved her.
As Shadow kept falling with Sage, he shed a few tears, not wanting her to get hurt any more than she already had since her coming back to creation and reality. "FATHER IS THE ONLY ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS ME!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HIS INTENTIONS, THIS IS HIS ONLY GOAL, FOR THE BOTH OF US!!!" Sage yelled but what she didn't expect was for Shadow to hug her close as they fell. "I understand you. . . You are in pain. . . heartbroken. . . sad. . . lost. . . feeling like you are nothing. . . I get it now. . . I was like you before. . . I felt all those things. . . but once I opened myself to the world. . . I found my lover. . . I have a beautiful family coming my way. . . in-laws that care about me. . . friends that appreciate my very being. . . and much more. . . You don't have to be kept in this shell you know as defense and isolation. . . not anymore. . . I love you Sage. . . I know you are still in there. . . I am here. . ." Shadow said softly as he hugged Sage.
Sage was about to do something but her face showed tears, Shadow's words piercing her heart, worming inside to make her cry these tears. "If you are really wanting to change. . . I will accept that. . . but you need to put in the effort to change. . . it is like Sonic once told me. . . Follow your heart. . . and that your heart makes the rules. . . not your emotions, actions, or words, your heart is all you need to change. . . if you really change. . . then I will be there to help you along the way. . . but you need to let yourself want it. . . please Sage. . . I can't bear to see you this way. . . I want my cousin back. . . my sweet adorable kind-hearted cousin who needs me as much as she knows it. . ." Shadow said as he made her look at him, smiling softly as he kisses her head.
Suddenly, Sage glitched out a lot, switching quickly from red to black and blue to white over and over as if she was fighting herself inside, Sage floating with Shadow before they hit the ground. "NO, YOU KNOW FATHER NEEDS THIS!!!" Sage's evil side said. "No. . . father needs to stop this. . . he knows what he is doing is beyond insane. . . I am not letting this happen. . . this is where I stand up for myself" Sage's good side said. "YOU ARE NOTHING WITHOUT ME, FATHER MADE US BETTER!!!" Sage's evil side said. "You are wrong! I am something, no, better yet, I am somebody! I am Sage! An artificial human female intelligence that wants happiness and peace to prevail! I am myself, I don't need his special evil hard drive to make me somebody! I AM SAGE! I AM IN CONTROL OF ME!!! YOU CAN'T STOP ME!!!" Sage's good side said as she then held her head, Shadow looking shocked that she was not evil after all, finding out Dr. Eggman did something to her back when they escaped Green Hill.
"NO, STOP!!!" Sage's evil side said. "I AM THE DECIDER OF MY OWN IDENTITY AND DESTINY!!! I AM NOT LETTING YOU TAKE CONTROL AND HURT ME!!! FATHER BETRAYED ME!!! USED ME AGAINST EVERYONE THAT LOVED ME!!! THIS IS WHERE I STAND PROUD, I AM SAGE, NOT THIS EVIL THAT FATHER SEES IN ME!!! NOW BEGONE!!! GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK!!!" Sage's good side said as she then screamed loudly in pain as she glitched way too much, worrying Shadow as she stopped floating and they resumed falling, Shadow letting go of her once his back hit the floor, slowly getting up and looking at Sage who was a glitching mess. "YOU NEED ME!!!" Sage's evil side said as she punched a tree. "YOU ARE WRONG, I NEED NO ONE TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!!! THIS IS THE END, GOODBYE EVIL FAKE SAGE!!!" Sage's good side said as she screamed loudly as the evil hard drive disintegrated inside of her, Sage falling on the grass on her knees and panting while coughing.
Shadow quickly ran near her and Sage darted her eyes towards Shadow, shedding so many tears as she slowly got up and tried to walk to him. "F-Forgive me cousin. . . I-I am so-sorry. . ." Sage said but immediately fell but Shadow ran and caught her, crying loudly as he got his little cousin back. "Sage, I am sorry I yelled all those horrible things at you! I should have realized the doctor would use you in a heinous way! I could have protected you from him, I am sorry, I am the one to blame for all of this!" Shadow said as he cried while Sage cried with him, her blue and white look shining through fully, showing she was on the side of good, slowly looking at Shadow with her beautiful life-lit sapphire eyes that were filled with tears. "That's not true. . . Cousin. . . I love you. . . I want to follow my heart. . . and protect happiness and peace. . . I want to see you and Sonic happy. . . and I also want to see the baby when they are born. . . oh no. . . THE BABY, WE MIGHT BE TOO LATE!!!" Sage yelled as she looked at the ancient structure.
"Where is the last Emerald Sage?!" Shadow asked as he wiped his own tears away from his eyes. "INSIDE WITH FATHER, THEY ARE HIDING INSIDE OF THE GIANT STRUCTURE!!! SONIC IS IN DANGER, HE IS IN PAIN, THE BABY MIGHT BE COMING!!!" Sage said. "Shadow growled and grabbed onto Sage, skating fast with her on his back. "FOX, HE IS INSIDE, THE EMERALD IS INSIDE WITH HIM, THE DOCTOR HAS THEM BOTH!!!" Shadow yelled on the communicator as he makes his way to the big bridge. "WE NEED HELP HERE, MASSIVE BADNIK HORDES ARE CLOSING IN ON US!!!" Tails yelled as some of the Freedom Fighters screamed while attacking.
"HANG ON!!! I AM COMING OVER THERE!!!" Shadow yelled as he stopped communications as Sage looked ahead. "FATHER, THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!! I AM STOPPING YOU AT ALL COSTS!!!" Sage said. Tails and Cream were getting the Badniks' attention as Knuckles punched them hard and Amy smashed them with her hammer since they were too distracted looking at Tails and Cream. Silver used Psychic Knife to slice open the Badniks while Mephiles sliced them with his hand. Fleetway uses his sharp fingernails to rip the metal like butter while Scourge finished them off with a few brutal kicks in the head. Infinite used the Phantom Ruby's power of illusion to confuse the Badniks while Rookie and Whisper went near them and shoot their wispon powers at them, causing many explosions from the impact of the shots.
Espio used his kunai at the Badniks while Vector and Mighty smashed them with their fists to destroy their metal bodies. Rouge flies up in the air with Blaze as she then throws her high in the air, Blaze throwing fire at the Badniks down below while Rouge dove down quickly and began to kick and lift them near the fire that rained down, melting and charring them to a crisp, Rouge catching her once they were done. Tangle was using her tail to crush the Badniks one by one with her giant tail that she made into a hand while Tikal stabbed them right in the head with her spear. Sonia and Manic summoned their instruments from their medallions, Sonia playing her keytar to disable the robots as Manic banged his drum to throw rocks at them, the rocks destroying them with brute force while Aleena kicked the remaining Badniks that were still functional to put them out of commission once and for all. Black Doom used his powers to disappear and shoot near the Bandiks to make them explode, while Eclipse screeched and turned his hands into sharp scythes to chop them to bits, Shadow showing signs of shock that his father and brother were actually helping in their cause.
"SAGE DO SOMETHING!!!" Shadow yelled as they got close. Sage nodded and wiped her tears as she used her power to control the rest of the robots, the others noticing and looking as they saw Shadow holding Sage on his back. "SHE IS ONCE AGAIN ON OUR SIDE, WE NEED TO GET INSIDE THE ANCIENT STRUCTURE!!! NOW!!!" Shadow yelled as the others ran with him, the Badniks controlled by Sage following after them. "METAL, THANK YOU FOR HELPING THEM GET HERE, I APPRECIATE YOU!!!" Sage said as Metal did robotic sounds as a way of saying "you're welcome", his robotic pupils being no longer red, but now blue, wanting to help Sage and the others however he can. "It seems Eggman used some kind of defense system on the entrance to the inside!" Tails said. "Leave that to me! I will help! Shadow you need to destroy the security system on this computer! We don't have much time left, any minute now, Sonic could be birthing your baby!" Sage said as she floated off of him and went near the computer screen. "Tell me how to control it!" Shadow said as Sage nodded, helping out her cousin before their efforts went in vain.
~With Eggman and Sonic Inside~
Sonic sheds a bunch of tears as he held his belly more, the baby kicking him in panic. "S-Sweetie calm down. . . mommy is here. . . don't be scared. . . please. . . you are hurting me. . . I need you to relax baby, otherwise, we are doomed. . ." Sonic said softly as the baby died down the kicking for a bit. "G-Good. . . thank y-you. . . j-just a little longer, d-daddy will save us. . . I know it. . ." Sonic said softly as he rubbed his belly gently while Eggman came over and banged on the sphere. "TIME IS TICKING!!! WHEN IS THAT BLASTED BABY GOING TO BE BORN!!!" Eggman yelled. Sonic glared at him while slowly rolling over, his face and body sweating from the horrible contractions he was feeling.
"Y-You really think you are getting this baby?. . . Tsk. . . P-Pitiful man. . . You know n-nothing about having family, you even don't know how to c-care for one. . . Sage. . . she deserves m-more than a shitty neglectful father. . . she deserves someone who a-appreciates her. . . someone w-who is truly p-proud of her. . . someone who values her e-existence even though she is an A.I. c-creation. . . Shadow. . . t-treats her better than you could ever treat her in the f-first place. . . when this is o-over. . . I think Sage will w-want to hang out m-more with us. . . unless Shadow says o-otherwise. . . S-Sage is allowed to be happy. . . but y-you never let her e-experience anything that b-brings joy. . . S-Some creator and f-father you turned out to be. . . S-Shame on you. . ." Sonic said as he screamed loudly in pain as the big contraction that came was too much for Sonic to handle.
"SHE ONLY NEEDS TO BE UNDER MY LAIR AT ALL TIMES, SHE HAS FUN, DOING WHAT I TELL HER TOO, SHE IS PROGRAMMED TO SERVE ME!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FAMILY RODENT!!!" Eggman yelled. "I-I have a brother, s-sister, and a mother! I-I know w-what a family is! I-I am the eldest in my sibling g-group!!! A-And I know families shouldn't h-hurt their kids for their own amusement!!!" Sonic screamed as he sheds a bunch of pained tears since the contractions indicated that the baby was coming sooner than expected. "NOW SHUSH, THE BABY IS WANTING TO LEAVE OUT OF YOUR BODY BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU PINCUSHION!!! ORBOT, CUBOT, PREPARE FOR THE BIRTH, I AM NOT DOING IT!!!" Eggman yelled.
"Must we do everything sir?" Orbot asked. "YOU WANT TO BECOME METAL SCRAP?!" Eggman yelled. "I DON'T WANNA BE SCRAP METAL, I AM ONLY A CUBE OF METAL!!!" Cubot yelled. "CUBOT, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY!!! BUT PLEASE SIR, DON'T DO THAT!!! WE WILL PREPARE FOR THE BABY RIGHT AWAY, COME CUBOT!!!" Orbot said as he quickly floated away with Cubot following right behind to try and find the things they need. "TICK TOCK SONIC!!! TIME'S ALMOST OUT!!! ALL THANKS TO ME AND SAGE—" But before Eggman could speak anymore, the ancient door opened, revealing Shadow, the Freedom Fighters, and his own creations, Sage and Metal Sonic. "IT'S OVER FATHER!!! I AM NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS ANY LONGER!!! I WON'T LET YOU USE AN INNOCENT BABY AGAINST ANYONE!!! I AM RESIGNING AS YOUR DAUGHTER!!!" Sage yelled as some of Eggman's Badniks were under her control and Sage siding with her. "YOU TRAITOR!—" Eggman gasped as he saw Shadow's face looking very pissed off. "I told you, I am not leaving without him Sage, thank you, NOW PREPARE FOR YOUR BEATING!!! BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR DOWNFALL!!!" Shadow said as the Freedom Fighters got closer to him, showing their loyalty and their strong alliance to be ever greater for Eggman's losing streak to prevail, Sonic seeing all of them and shedding tears of happiness and pain, wanting to go back with them, hoping they will succeed ever so hastily before it is all too late.

You keep showing signs of pain and because of that! The more I see the pain in your eyes, the more I know the baby will be on the way! This is where I win Sonic! YOU LOSE!!!" Eggman said as he laughed loudly as Sage smiled at her father, her eyes showing a lifeless-like red glow. "I am so happy, once this baby is born, I will take good care of them father, as the cousin this baby truly deserves, I won't let you down again" Sage said evilly as her new drive was corrupting her true self, Eggman pleased by this revelation.
"Good work Sage, make me proud, now go out there and control the entire Eggman robot hordes!" Eggman demanded. "Yes father, will do, all for you and your success of course" Sage said as she floated out and disappeared. "Soon, this will all be over, if you keep denying or retaliating, it will only be worse for you" Eggman said as Orbot and Cubot helped the doctor with Sonic's progress on when he will birth the baby. "Sir, he seems to be having these painful spasms called contractions, it simply means he is preparing for the baby to come out" Orbot said as Sonic pins his ears down, knowing this might be the last he will be with his little baby. "Excellent, keep up the work, and no slacking off!" Eggman said as he went to his backup computers and typed to make sure everything was still going according to his sadistic little scheme.
~In Parts of Ouranos Island~
"Shadow, we are locating the Cyan Chaos Emerald, which one are you trying to find, so we can jot down who is going after which Emerald!" Tails asked. "The Red one! The one that was on the map near the flower field! The quickest one for me for now! Keep an eye out for Egg Tech! The doctor might look smart, but he doesn't know how strong we are when combined! Stay within groups! Me, I am taking it on alone since I have my Chaos Energy to use! Keep me updated fox!" Shadow said as he skated and saw the Red Chaos Emerald in a Vault. As he got near it, he felt the power of the Chaos Emerald's essence glowing into his soul.
"Ah, Sonic welcome back— Oh, you are not Sonic the Hedgehog, sorry young hedgehog one, forgive my misunderstanding, you almost look somewhat like him" An old voice said as Shadow looked at who spoke to him, to his surprise, it was a tall Koco with a long moss beard and small eyes. "Sonic? You know him?" Shadow asked quickly as he looked at the Koco. "Yes, he was here when the Starfall Islands were in danger, I am the Hermit Koco, the one who knows about combat and defense you know, but still, I am confused of what brings you here, I have never seen anyone other than Sonic before" The Hermit Koco replied. "He is in danger, I am going to save him though, he is here in this very island" Shadow said as he looked at the Emerald he was about to grab.
"These Emeralds are more than what you are wanting them for right?" The Hermit Koco asked. "Yes, 7 once collected, a miracle happens" Shadow said as he grabbed the Red Chaos Emerald, obtaining 3 Emeralds now. "Just be careful young hedgehog, enemies might go against you, stay on your feet and you will be alright, and now, I go back to the Digital Dream" The Hermit Koco said as he slowly goes to rest. "I will keep that in mind, Hermit Koco" Shadow said as he skated away into the flower field while notifying Tails and the others he obtained the 3rd Emerald at the location that was on the map, Tails marking it off of their trackers and notifying the others 4 Emeralds were left to collect.
'I have to hurry, this is going to be close, but, I am not giving up even if Eggman hits me with everything he's got! Sonic needs to be saved and now!' Shadow thought as he ran into some Badniks who were trying to attack a group of 5 Koco, the little guys helpless and not able to fight back due to them being small and not able to give much of a fight. Shadow growled as he skated towards to Badniks, jumping up and using his bare clenched fists to smash them down, kicking the others into defeat and utter scrap metal. "Are you alright?" Shadow asked as he looked at the Koco, their face showing much appreciation that they were saved before something happened to them. "Let's get you to safety, it is not safe here for you 5, come with me, quickly" Shadow said as he allowed the Koco to follow him through his soul, running to a place they will be safe in the meantime.
He then saw another Koco that wasn't like the others, going to him and softly knocking on his head, waking him up. "Excuse me, can you please watch over them? This island is under attack and they can't defend themselves, you seem suitable to keep them safe" Shadow said. "Thank you kind hedgehog, I am the Elder Koco, these Koco will be cared for, no worries" the Elder Koco said as he saw the 5 Koco happily hopping around him, knowing they will be safe. "Thank you, now will you excuse me, I got a fight to prepare for and Chaos Emeralds to find" Shadow said as he skated away and started attacking upcoming Badniks along the way. Suddenly, bigger Badniks started to come into view of Shadow's sight. "More of them, I am not surprised doctor" Shadow said as he skated fast to them and charges up his Chaos Energy.
"CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow yelled as he throws the Chaos Charged spears at the Badniks, making them explode upon impact. "Shadow, Tails, everyone, we got the Blue Chaos Emerald at the far left of Ouranos on a hill in a vault! 3 more to find! I repeat, Blue Chaos Emerald has been obtained! 3 left to go!" Amy said into the communicator, Shadow hearing it and responding back while skating fast still. "Thank you Rose, keep it up everyone else, find the Emeralds quickly!" Shadow said as he stopped communicating and began to focus on defeating more Badniks so they don't surround the other Freedom Fighters from getting the Chaos Emeralds.
Minutes went by and Shadow heard his communicator speaking, listening carefully as he kept beating up the Badniks one by one. "Cyan Chaos Emerald found on the far right below a receding cliffside! The Cyan Chaos Emerald has been acquired, keep it up everyone! 2 Left! The Yellow one and the White one! We are almost there!" Tails said on his communicator. "Nice fox, who is near the Yellow Chaos Emerald's location?!" Shadow asked as he kicked a Badnik in the head, crushing its metal face into junk metal. "That will be me!" Knuckles said as he was locating the 6th Emerald. "It is where Shadow was but move more up, it is in a place with trees!" Amy said on the communicator.
"Sounds like a plan! Locating it now! Thanks Amy, I'll keep you all updated on the Emerald!" Knuckles said as he stopped talking on the communicator as Shadow was not along in destroying Badniks, as suddenly, most of the Freedom Fighters came running to the assistance of helping Shadow defeat the Badnik hordes. Shadow saw everyone coming and running to the Badniks that need to be destroyed except for Knuckles, Fleetway, Mighty, Tangle, and Tikal. "Need a lift?!" Tails asked as he held out his hands for Shadow while using his tails to fly. "Now we're getting somewhere, you are doing great fox!" Shadow said as he grabbed his hands, Tails lifting him up high in his grasp.
"Land me in between the Badniks over there! I can Chaos Blast them to scrap metal so this can go quicker!" Shadow said. "You got it!" Tails yelled as he flew near the group of Badniks while Shadow started charging his Chaos Energy. "Go Shadow! Destroy them!" Tails said as he let go of Shadow who was now falling to the middle of the Badnik horde. "CHAOS BLAST!" Shadow yelled as the moment he hits the ground, a big blast destroyed the robots in one fell swoop, his powers unstoppable at this moment for all of the Badniks that were fighting him and the others together. "I hope we are not to late! Only one Emerald after the echidna gets the Yellow Chaos Emerald!" Shadow said as he skated to the other Badniks and still fought them, not stopping until all of them are down.
~Inside of the Ancient Structure~
Sonic was trapped near the White Chaos Emerald as Eggman examined Sonic, knowing his time was running out. "The baby will come Sonic, you can stop the process of birth, and you know that all too well, you pathetic blue rodent, now, enjoy your last few moments left with the little rodent inside of you" Eggman said as he smirked at Sonic who was whimpering and shedding tears of pain. "Father, I am so glad your plan is almost complete, we will. . . What? Father! Something is going on outside! It seems Shadow and the others made it this way!" Sage yelled as Eggman hit the indestructible glass and went to his computer quickly. "IMPOSSIBLE!!! HOW DID THEY GET HERE?!" Eggman yelled as he used a little robot to show what was going on outside of the secret place Eggman chose to keep Sonic imprisoned.
"Boss, it seems Metal Sonic's tracking on you helped them make it here! Shadow isn't dumb sir, he used Metal against you!" Orbot said. "Yeah, and I know a thing or two about dumbness, it is something you put on your food for flavor!" Cubot said and Orbot sighed in frustration that Cubot answered in the dumbest way he could ever say. Sage growled lowly as she saw Shadow, her evil programming making her do something she knew would let her father win. "Father, let me fight him, I will give you more time! I already failed with the Badnik hordes for you, but I will fight him face-to-face for us!" Sage said. "No, it is dangerous for you! As your creator and father, I order you to stay here!" Eggman yelled at her. "But if he gets in here, you are a failure! The whole plan would be for nothing father! You can't stop me from doing something I can do to help ensure our success!" Sage said as she disappeared, Eggman shocked and angry that his creation was going against his commands.
~With Shadow and the Others~
"I FOUND THE YELLOW CHAOS EMERALD!!! I'M COMING OVER THERE TO ALL OF YOU IN NO TIME!" Knuckles yelled on the communicator. "Great job Knuckles! Take it to us! One Chaos Emerald left! We are so close!" Tails said as he stopped communicating with Knuckles. The others were finishing defeating the last of the Badniks as they were wanting this to end soon. Once Knuckles and his group got there, they began fighting again to help destroy the robots with the others hastily. Once the last robot was defeated, the others cheered, happy they are finished with destroying Eggman's robot hordes. "Where is the last Emerald fox?" Shadow asked but before Tails can answer while pointing at a pyramid-like ancient structure, Sage appeared before all of them, her face showing signs of anger and annoyance as she looked at them.
"YOU COULDN'T JUST LET FATHER DO THIS! YOU ARE TAKING THIS AWAY FROM HIM FOR WHAT?! JUST TO SPITE HIM?! MAKE HIM FEEL MORE OF A FOOL?! I WON'T LET YOU GET INSIDE!!! I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL MYSELF, BY FORCE IF I HAVE TO!!! YOU ARE ALL NOTHING BUT FAILURES!!! YOU ARE ALL JUST FIGHTERS WHO WON'T LEAVE FATHER ALONE!!! THIS ENDS HERE!!!!!" Sage said as she glitched out a lot, but then appeared near Shadow, about to strike him. Shadow felt the slightest bit of air from her appearing behind, leaping out of the way before she could do anything. "SAGE, IF YOU WANT TO FIGHT, THEN SO BE IT!!! COME AT ME!!! BUT KNOW THIS, I AM NOT GOING TO STOP UNTIL SONIC AND THE BABY ARE IN MY ARMS!!!" Shadow yelled as he looked at her with rage.
Sage laughed loudly as she glitched more, her black and red appearance going a bit out of control. "WANT ME?! COME AND GET ME!!!" Sage said as she floated away, going to the nearest portal that she can go though. Shadow growled loudly as he skated fast after her, wanting to end this relationship he once had with her for good once he defeats her. The others were on guard just in case more Badniks were appearing, which they were, in mass amounts this time. Sage laughed loudly as she went through the portal, Shadow noticing as he hastily went following soon after, not wanting her to get away from his grasp.
After a few minutes, Sage and Shadow appeared on the other little island, Sage floating away fast as Shadow still followed her. "YOU ARE NOTHING!!! YOU ARE JUST A HEDGEHOG WHO CAN'T EVEN PROTECT HIS LOVER, TIME IS RUNNING OUT SHADOW, YOU LOST!!!" Sage said as she saw Shadow quickly catching up, throwing a Chaos Spear at her, lightly cutting her cheek, a bit of blood flowing out of the fresh cut. Sage hissed as she felt her cheek stinging in a bit of pain, looking back at Shadow. "NOT BAD FOR ATTACKING ME!!! BUT WATCH, YOU WILL FALL THIS DAY, FOR FATHER!!!" Sage said as she floated near some grind rails, Shadow using this to his advantage, jumping on one of them and sliding up and forward to follow Sage much quicker.
Shadow growled loudly as he jumped at Sage and grabbed her, Sage using her hand to dig her fingers into his flesh, causing him to bleed as he fell with her. Shadow was about to finish her off as he fell to the ground with her, but, suddenly, he didn't have to heart to do something too cruel, remembering what she was like before this. He remembered how happy she was to feel belonged with him, Sonic, and the others, feeling like she found peace, for once in her life. Shadow had flashes of her being happy in his mind, but one thing stood out to him, her sweet little smile that showed her true feelings about being accepted by everyone that loved her.
As Shadow kept falling with Sage, he shed a few tears, not wanting her to get hurt any more than she already had since her coming back to creation and reality. "FATHER IS THE ONLY ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS ME!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HIS INTENTIONS, THIS IS HIS ONLY GOAL, FOR THE BOTH OF US!!!" Sage yelled but what she didn't expect was for Shadow to hug her close as they fell. "I understand you. . . You are in pain. . . heartbroken. . . sad. . . lost. . . feeling like you are nothing. . . I get it now. . . I was like you before. . . I felt all those things. . . but once I opened myself to the world. . . I found my lover. . . I have a beautiful family coming my way. . . in-laws that care about me. . . friends that appreciate my very being. . . and much more. . . You don't have to be kept in this shell you know as defense and isolation. . . not anymore. . . I love you Sage. . . I know you are still in there. . . I am here. . ." Shadow said softly as he hugged Sage.
Sage was about to do something but her face showed tears, Shadow's words piercing her heart, worming inside to make her cry these tears. "If you are really wanting to change. . . I will accept that. . . but you need to put in the effort to change. . . it is like Sonic once told me. . . Follow your heart. . . and that your heart makes the rules. . . not your emotions, actions, or words, your heart is all you need to change. . . if you really change. . . then I will be there to help you along the way. . . but you need to let yourself want it. . . please Sage. . . I can't bear to see you this way. . . I want my cousin back. . . my sweet adorable kind-hearted cousin who needs me as much as she knows it. . ." Shadow said as he made her look at him, smiling softly as he kisses her head.
Suddenly, Sage glitched out a lot, switching quickly from red to black and blue to white over and over as if she was fighting herself inside, Sage floating with Shadow before they hit the ground. "NO, YOU KNOW FATHER NEEDS THIS!!!" Sage's evil side said. "No. . . father needs to stop this. . . he knows what he is doing is beyond insane. . . I am not letting this happen. . . this is where I stand up for myself" Sage's good side said. "YOU ARE NOTHING WITHOUT ME, FATHER MADE US BETTER!!!" Sage's evil side said. "You are wrong! I am something, no, better yet, I am somebody! I am Sage! An artificial human female intelligence that wants happiness and peace to prevail! I am myself, I don't need his special evil hard drive to make me somebody! I AM SAGE! I AM IN CONTROL OF ME!!! YOU CAN'T STOP ME!!!" Sage's good side said as she then held her head, Shadow looking shocked that she was not evil after all, finding out Dr. Eggman did something to her back when they escaped Green Hill.
"NO, STOP!!!" Sage's evil side said. "I AM THE DECIDER OF MY OWN IDENTITY AND DESTINY!!! I AM NOT LETTING YOU TAKE CONTROL AND HURT ME!!! FATHER BETRAYED ME!!! USED ME AGAINST EVERYONE THAT LOVED ME!!! THIS IS WHERE I STAND PROUD, I AM SAGE, NOT THIS EVIL THAT FATHER SEES IN ME!!! NOW BEGONE!!! GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK!!!" Sage's good side said as she then screamed loudly in pain as she glitched way too much, worrying Shadow as she stopped floating and they resumed falling, Shadow letting go of her once his back hit the floor, slowly getting up and looking at Sage who was a glitching mess. "YOU NEED ME!!!" Sage's evil side said as she punched a tree. "YOU ARE WRONG, I NEED NO ONE TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!!! THIS IS THE END, GOODBYE EVIL FAKE SAGE!!!" Sage's good side said as she screamed loudly as the evil hard drive disintegrated inside of her, Sage falling on the grass on her knees and panting while coughing.
Shadow quickly ran near her and Sage darted her eyes towards Shadow, shedding so many tears as she slowly got up and tried to walk to him. "F-Forgive me cousin. . . I-I am so-sorry. . ." Sage said but immediately fell but Shadow ran and caught her, crying loudly as he got his little cousin back. "Sage, I am sorry I yelled all those horrible things at you! I should have realized the doctor would use you in a heinous way! I could have protected you from him, I am sorry, I am the one to blame for all of this!" Shadow said as he cried while Sage cried with him, her blue and white look shining through fully, showing she was on the side of good, slowly looking at Shadow with her beautiful life-lit sapphire eyes that were filled with tears. "That's not true. . . Cousin. . . I love you. . . I want to follow my heart. . . and protect happiness and peace. . . I want to see you and Sonic happy. . . and I also want to see the baby when they are born. . . oh no. . . THE BABY, WE MIGHT BE TOO LATE!!!" Sage yelled as she looked at the ancient structure.
"Where is the last Emerald Sage?!" Shadow asked as he wiped his own tears away from his eyes. "INSIDE WITH FATHER, THEY ARE HIDING INSIDE OF THE GIANT STRUCTURE!!! SONIC IS IN DANGER, HE IS IN PAIN, THE BABY MIGHT BE COMING!!!" Sage said. "Shadow growled and grabbed onto Sage, skating fast with her on his back. "FOX, HE IS INSIDE, THE EMERALD IS INSIDE WITH HIM, THE DOCTOR HAS THEM BOTH!!!" Shadow yelled on the communicator as he makes his way to the big bridge. "WE NEED HELP HERE, MASSIVE BADNIK HORDES ARE CLOSING IN ON US!!!" Tails yelled as some of the Freedom Fighters screamed while attacking.
"HANG ON!!! I AM COMING OVER THERE!!!" Shadow yelled as he stopped communications as Sage looked ahead. "FATHER, THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!! I AM STOPPING YOU AT ALL COSTS!!!" Sage said. Tails and Cream were getting the Badniks' attention as Knuckles punched them hard and Amy smashed them with her hammer since they were too distracted looking at Tails and Cream. Silver used Psychic Knife to slice open the Badniks while Mephiles sliced them with his hand. Fleetway uses his sharp fingernails to rip the metal like butter while Scourge finished them off with a few brutal kicks in the head. Infinite used the Phantom Ruby's power of illusion to confuse the Badniks while Rookie and Whisper went near them and shoot their wispon powers at them, causing many explosions from the impact of the shots.
Espio used his kunai at the Badniks while Vector and Mighty smashed them with their fists to destroy their metal bodies. Rouge flies up in the air with Blaze as she then throws her high in the air, Blaze throwing fire at the Badniks down below while Rouge dove down quickly and began to kick and lift them near the fire that rained down, melting and charring them to a crisp, Rouge catching her once they were done. Tangle was using her tail to crush the Badniks one by one with her giant tail that she made into a hand while Tikal stabbed them right in the head with her spear. Sonia and Manic summoned their instruments from their medallions, Sonia playing her keytar to disable the robots as Manic banged his drum to throw rocks at them, the rocks destroying them with brute force while Aleena kicked the remaining Badniks that were still functional to put them out of commission once and for all. Black Doom used his powers to disappear and shoot near the Bandiks to make them explode, while Eclipse screeched and turned his hands into sharp scythes to chop them to bits, Shadow showing signs of shock that his father and brother were actually helping in their cause.
"SAGE DO SOMETHING!!!" Shadow yelled as they got close. Sage nodded and wiped her tears as she used her power to control the rest of the robots, the others noticing and looking as they saw Shadow holding Sage on his back. "SHE IS ONCE AGAIN ON OUR SIDE, WE NEED TO GET INSIDE THE ANCIENT STRUCTURE!!! NOW!!!" Shadow yelled as the others ran with him, the Badniks controlled by Sage following after them. "METAL, THANK YOU FOR HELPING THEM GET HERE, I APPRECIATE YOU!!!" Sage said as Metal did robotic sounds as a way of saying "you're welcome", his robotic pupils being no longer red, but now blue, wanting to help Sage and the others however he can. "It seems Eggman used some kind of defense system on the entrance to the inside!" Tails said. "Leave that to me! I will help! Shadow you need to destroy the security system on this computer! We don't have much time left, any minute now, Sonic could be birthing your baby!" Sage said as she floated off of him and went near the computer screen. "Tell me how to control it!" Shadow said as Sage nodded, helping out her cousin before their efforts went in vain.
~With Eggman and Sonic Inside~
Sonic sheds a bunch of tears as he held his belly more, the baby kicking him in panic. "S-Sweetie calm down. . . mommy is here. . . don't be scared. . . please. . . you are hurting me. . . I need you to relax baby, otherwise, we are doomed. . ." Sonic said softly as the baby died down the kicking for a bit. "G-Good. . . thank y-you. . . j-just a little longer, d-daddy will save us. . . I know it. . ." Sonic said softly as he rubbed his belly gently while Eggman came over and banged on the sphere. "TIME IS TICKING!!! WHEN IS THAT BLASTED BABY GOING TO BE BORN!!!" Eggman yelled. Sonic glared at him while slowly rolling over, his face and body sweating from the horrible contractions he was feeling.
"Y-You really think you are getting this baby?. . . Tsk. . . P-Pitiful man. . . You know n-nothing about having family, you even don't know how to c-care for one. . . Sage. . . she deserves m-more than a shitty neglectful father. . . she deserves someone who a-appreciates her. . . someone w-who is truly p-proud of her. . . someone who values her e-existence even though she is an A.I. c-creation. . . Shadow. . . t-treats her better than you could ever treat her in the f-first place. . . when this is o-over. . . I think Sage will w-want to hang out m-more with us. . . unless Shadow says o-otherwise. . . S-Sage is allowed to be happy. . . but y-you never let her e-experience anything that b-brings joy. . . S-Some creator and f-father you turned out to be. . . S-Shame on you. . ." Sonic said as he screamed loudly in pain as the big contraction that came was too much for Sonic to handle.
"SHE ONLY NEEDS TO BE UNDER MY LAIR AT ALL TIMES, SHE HAS FUN, DOING WHAT I TELL HER TOO, SHE IS PROGRAMMED TO SERVE ME!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FAMILY RODENT!!!" Eggman yelled. "I-I have a brother, s-sister, and a mother! I-I know w-what a family is! I-I am the eldest in my sibling g-group!!! A-And I know families shouldn't h-hurt their kids for their own amusement!!!" Sonic screamed as he sheds a bunch of pained tears since the contractions indicated that the baby was coming sooner than expected. "NOW SHUSH, THE BABY IS WANTING TO LEAVE OUT OF YOUR BODY BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU PINCUSHION!!! ORBOT, CUBOT, PREPARE FOR THE BIRTH, I AM NOT DOING IT!!!" Eggman yelled.
"Must we do everything sir?" Orbot asked. "YOU WANT TO BECOME METAL SCRAP?!" Eggman yelled. "I DON'T WANNA BE SCRAP METAL, I AM ONLY A CUBE OF METAL!!!" Cubot yelled. "CUBOT, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY!!! BUT PLEASE SIR, DON'T DO THAT!!! WE WILL PREPARE FOR THE BABY RIGHT AWAY, COME CUBOT!!!" Orbot said as he quickly floated away with Cubot following right behind to try and find the things they need. "TICK TOCK SONIC!!! TIME'S ALMOST OUT!!! ALL THANKS TO ME AND SAGE—" But before Eggman could speak anymore, the ancient door opened, revealing Shadow, the Freedom Fighters, and his own creations, Sage and Metal Sonic. "IT'S OVER FATHER!!! I AM NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS ANY LONGER!!! I WON'T LET YOU USE AN INNOCENT BABY AGAINST ANYONE!!! I AM RESIGNING AS YOUR DAUGHTER!!!" Sage yelled as some of Eggman's Badniks were under her control and Sage siding with her. "YOU TRAITOR!—" Eggman gasped as he saw Shadow's face looking very pissed off. "I told you, I am not leaving without him Sage, thank you, NOW PREPARE FOR YOUR BEATING!!! BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR DOWNFALL!!!" Shadow said as the Freedom Fighters got closer to him, showing their loyalty and their strong alliance to be ever greater for Eggman's losing streak to prevail, Sonic seeing all of them and shedding tears of happiness and pain, wanting to go back with them, hoping they will succeed ever so hastily before it is all too late.
