Sonadow Pride Month - Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Shadow was cooking breakfast for his boyfriend, smiling as he hoped Sonic would like the breakfast. Sonic on the other hand slowly woke up and got out of bed, walking groggily to the bathroom where he walks into the shower and turned it on, letting the water trickle down his quills and skin. Sonic slowly rubbed his body and got a washcloth, putting some liquid soap on it and rubbing it on his body, lathering it all over with soapy suds. Shadow heard the shower turn on and smiled to himself. 'I will wait my love, breakfast is almost ready anyway' Shadow thought as he kept cooking breakfast.
~10 Minutes Later~
Sonic turned off the shower and walked out, putting his toothbrush away, grabbing a towel and drying himself off as he spits out the toothpaste and rinses his mouth while he slips on some slippers and walked out, drying himself as he made his way down the stairs while trying to dry his quills. Shadow looked and smiled as he saw Sonic. "Good morning my beautiful sunshine" Shadow said as he held out his arm for his lover. Sonic walked to him with a yawn and feels Shadow pull him in for a hug. "Not a morning person?" Shadow asked with a chuckle as he kisses his head and nuzzles it.
"Yeah, but I will fully wake up in a few minutes" Sonic said with another yawn and squeaks as he felt another kiss on his head. "Alright, I made breakfast for you" Shadow said with a smile. "Thank you, what is it?" Sonic asked as he yawned a third time and felt Shadow guiding him to the dining room as he was then seated on a chair. Shadow went back to the kitchen and got himself a brewed cup of coffee and sits down. Sonic was rubbing his eyes a bit as he then looked at the breakfast Shadow made. It was a stack of three pancakes, with whipped cream and mixed berries on it, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries to be precise, some scrambled eggs, and some crispy bacon strips on the side along with a cup of orange juice for him to drink.
"Having the same but without the orange juice, coffee will suffice for me" Shadow said as he watched Sonic grab a bottle of syrup from the table and start to pour it on top of his pancakes, stopping when he felt it was enough for him. "Sonikku, syrup please" Shadow said as he held out his hand, but Sonic shook his head no and started to put the syrup on Shadow's pancakes for him. "Say stop when you feel you got enough Shads" Sonic said as he kept pouring the syrup on until he heard the word stop, after a few seconds of pouring, Shadow saw it was enough for him to handle for now. "Stop, that's good for me" Shadow said as he saw Sonic stop pouring the syrup and put down the bottle as he picked up a fork and started to cut his pancakes with it.
Shadow smiled and started to cut his pancakes with his own fork too. Sonic picked up a piece with three pancakes stacked together and puts it in his mouth along with the whipped cream and a strawberry, his eyes lighting up and sparkling, showing he was fully awake now. "I see you like it I assume?" Shadow asked as he started to eat his pancakes too. "So soft and fluffy and with the whipped cream and the berries, makes it like a wonderful combination" Sonic said with a smile as he took more pancake pieces he cut up and put them in his mouth, loving the mixed flavors he was tasting. "Glad you love the breakfast I made" Shadow said as he took a sip of his coffee before continuing to eat his own breakfast with his lover.
~20 Minutes Later~
Sonic was drinking the last of his juice and eating the last of his bacon as he was now fully finished with his breakfast, rubbing his belly and laying back in the chair happily. "I am glad you have a full belly now, I bet you really loved the food that much huh, good, that is what I like to see, a happy hedgehog boyfriend" Shadow said as he picked up his plate and cup while taking his own plate and mug to the kitchen, putting the dishes in the sink, and starting to wash them so he has a clean kitchen again. After a couple of minutes, Shadow came back and rubbed Sonic's head, smiling at him and making sure he was alright.
"That was so good, I really wished I had a bigger stomach though so I can eat more of your delicious food" Sonic said as Shadow chuckled softly and kissed his head. "But still, glad you enjoyed breakfast, that makes me happy" Shadow said as he rubbed his back. Sonic smiled as he felt himself getting a back rub from his lover. "So, what would you like to do today?" Shadow asked as he looked at Sonic while rubbing his back. "Well, I wanna go on a picnic, just to relax and enjoy your company" Sonic said with a kind smile as he kisses his cheek softly, his tail wagging a tiny bit in joy.
"Alright, I will go with you, for you to be happy, and so I can be at a peaceful location, it sounds quite nice, but where do you want to go babe?" Shadow asked as he rubbed his back more. "I wanna go to a field full of flowers, it is called, Kronos Island, the flowers there are very beautiful, I want to go there once again, but, we don't have a way to fly there right, it is not like we can grow wings or anything like that?" Sonic laughed a bit as Shadow thought about it real quick and looked at Sonic. "I think there might be a way" Shadow said as he got Sonic's attention. "Wait really?" Sonic asked Shadow wanting to know what he was planning.
"You'll see babe, I will make it happen" Shadow said as he kisses his head. "Okay? So should we get ready?" Sonic asked. "Of course, the earlier the better you know" Shadow said as he walked away and walked upstairs and started to put on his gloves and shoes before grabbing his inhibitor rings and placing them on his ankles first and then his wrists. Sonic got up and stretched a bit before making his way up the stairs. 'I wonder what Shadow has up his sleeve this time, must be fast transport, but how will he do it?' Sonic said to himself as he walked up the stairs so he can return the towel he used and start to put on his shoes and gloves.
~2 Hours Later~
Sonic was brushing his quills as he watched Shadow pack up a picnic basket full of fruits and snacks. "Alright, almost done, we need the picnic blanket and a cooler" Shadow said as he looked at Sonic who was going into the closet to find a picnic blanket and an empty cooler. "That's it, now let me fill the cooler with ice, you pack the picnic blanket inside" Shadow said as he went into his freezer and took out some ice he made, putting some into the cooler. On the other hand, Sonic was putting the picnic blanket into the picnic basket nicely.
Shadow started to pack some drinks inside as he then closed the cooler and walked back to Sonic. Sonic picked up the picnic basket as he walked out of the house and smiles as he waited for Shadow to come out of the house as well. Shadow takes the cooler with him and closes the door behind him, locking it before looking at Sonic and kissing his head. "So, how will we get there?" Sonic asked Shadow. "Just stay close to me while holding the basket in your hand" Shadow said as Sonic listened and held the basket handle tight while he felt Shadow putting a hand on his shoulder, gripping it tight as he looked at the sky. "CHAOS CONTROL!" Shadow yelled as in a split second, they both disappeared and suddenly ended up on an island.
Sonic was shocked and looked around, taking out his phone to see where they are, the location indicating they were on Kronos Island like Sonic mentioned. "Kronos Island? We are really here?!" Sonic asked as he saw Shadow chuckling a bit. "Yes Sonic, did a little research on the island, and found the location, and Chaos Controlled us here, no need to fly when I can teleport at will" Shadow said as he looked around and saw the beautiful greenery, a waterfall, and some trees and flowers everywhere, seeing this place was so peaceful and quiet. "So pretty, just like how I remember, but now the enemies are gone, so this place is safe" Sonic said happily as he took a breath of fresh air, his quills flowing in the softly gentle breeze that came through him.
"It is nice, is this where you were helping Rose, Tails, and Knuckles when they got trapped?" Shadow asked as he looked at Sonic. "Well yes, but the islands are safe now and everything is alright, and no longer inhabited by enemies, which makes the places perfectly safe now" Sonic said as he started to walk over a metal bridge with Shadow, looking at the waterfall. "This place is huge" Shadow said as he looked at the scenery and suddenly saw a Cyberspace Portal near the waterfall. "What is that monument?" Shadow asked as Sonic looked.
"Oh, I have been in those portals a few times, they are apparently connected to Cyberspace, which is where all three of my friends were trapped in, along with Eggman as well, until I opened the portal between the dimensions and freed them, but the effects of the corruption took over me and made me trapped in both realities, but they decided to give up their physical forms so I can be able to move again, but that was when a little robotic A.I. girl saved us all and my friends were returned once again, it was a lot to cover, but I was able to help them in their time of need, along with that A.I. girl, she was a real hero" Sonic said as he and Shadow continued walking along the sturdy metal bridge.
After they made it across, Shadow saw some beautiful flowers up ahead near a floating monument. "Beautiful isn't it?" Sonic asked as he walked to the flowers he saw. "It is, looks wonderful and ancient—" Shadow was caught by surprise by what Sonic said. "That's because it is ancient, the Ancients came here when their planet was destroyed, and found Earth, the Chaos Emeralds originated from space, the emeralds being attracted to the Master Emerald that was on Earth when they got close to our world, and when they got here, they made Earth their new home and adapted to it rather quickly, their race being here many years ago" Sonic said as he looked at Shadow and saw he was shocked.
"Really? That is rather interesting to know, whatever happened to them?" Shadow asked as they got to the flowers and took out the picnic blanket. "They were eradicated by a moon-like purple planet called The End, and they were no more, the only thing that remained from them was their architecture, their Cyberspace Portals, and little beings called the Koco that manifest their being, as if they are a memory holder to their existence long ago" Sonic said as he looked and saw a few Koco rolling toward them. Shadow looked and saw rolling rocks but didn't know they were the Koco Sonic just mentioned.
The Koco stopped rolling once they were near the two hedgehogs, making cute noises and jumping up and down a bit happily at Sonic's return to their island. "Hello fellow Koco, really missed your hero that much huh?" Sonic said as he rubbed their rocky heads that were decorated with real live plants on top. "Wait, these are the Koco?" Shadow asked as he looked at the Koco. "Yes, they are what I just talked about, and now you can see for yourself what they look like in person, they are a bit heavy but they are very sweet nonetheless" Sonic said with a smile as he picked up a Koco and held it out to Shadow so he can hold it and see for himself.
Shadow slowly took the Koco and looked at it, the Koco smiling and wiggling in his grasp. "Very interesting, rock-like beings, that are sentient, and much likely have feelings, even though they have hollow shells, they still hold life" Shadow said as he rubbed the Koco's head and put it down so it can be with its friends. "Indeed, they hold the memory of the ancients, they are rather alive, but spiritually if that makes sense" Sonic said as he smiled and set up the picnic blanket in the field of flowers before sitting down and smiling at the Koco. "Tell the Elder and Hermit Koco I said hello and that I also said you're welcome for saving your islands" Sonic said with a smile.
The Koco nodded and rolled away, Sonic laughing a bit as he looked at Shadow. Shadow smiled at his lover and kissed his head. "The Koco are quite nice, rather small though, but still nice, I can see why you saved them, your heart is very pure" Shadow said as he kisses his cheek and puts the picnic basket and the cooler on the picnic blanket and nuzzles on Sonic a bit. Sonic smiled and nuzzled back as Shadow stopped and took out the lunch he packed for them along with their snacks. "I can't wait to eat some lunch, I am so hungry" Sonic said as his stomach gurgled and growled a bit.
"I know you are hungry, here, I made you a chilidog with some melted cheese fries and some onion rings, which I made for you to eat" Shadow said as he handed Sonic his meal which was in a big container. "Aww thank you Shads, I really appreciate you cooking all this for me" Sonic said as he gave Shadow a kiss on his nose before opening up the container and getting the aroma of the food. "So good, now time to eat, thank you for the meal" Sonic said as he picked up his chilidog and started to eat it. On the other hand, Shadow pulled out the container of food he made for himself to eat.
As Sonic ate his lunch, Shadow opened his container and looked at his meal, which was a cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce, and crispy onions, a chicken lettuce wrap that had a mixed sauce he made inside, and some small roasted potatoes that were flavored with salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme. "So good! Chili dogs will always be my favorite food in the world!" Sonic said as he was halfway done with his chilidog, eating a few of his cheese fries in the process. Shadow smiled and picked up his burger and took a bite from it, enjoying the meal he wanted.
All of a sudden, they saw four figures walking far away and were close to each other. "What the heck?" Sonic said as he got up and finished his chilidog and looked at the figures closely. "Is that Rookie and Whisper? I think the other two are Infinite and Tangle, what are they doing here?" Sonic questioned as the 4 figures saw the two hedgehogs on the bed of beautiful flowers. After a few minutes went by, Sonic was right, Rookie, Infinite, Whisper, and Tangle were on the island together, making Sonic and Shadow shocked they were here.
"Hi Sonic, so good to see you, didn't expect you and Shadow to be here" Rookie said with a smile. But Infinite only glared at Shadow, looking like he wanted to jump him. "H-Hi" Whisper said in a quiet voice. "Hello Rookie, and you too Whisper, never expected you 4 to be here either, how did you make it here?" Sonic asked. "One word, Cyberspace" Tangle said as she stretched a bit. "You didn't get stuck?" Sonic asked in curiosity. "No, we were perfectly safe, we made it through and here we are now" Rookie said to back up Tangle's claim about the Cyberspace Portal. "That is strange, but, at least you guys made it out okay" Sonic said with a thumbs up.
"Oh great, HE is here" Shadow said as he growled at Infinite who then growled back at him. "Hey, bad jackal, bad!" Rookie said as he made Infinite stop growling by tugging on his hair. "OW!" Infinite yelled as he growled lowly at Infinite. "What have I said? Stop growling at my friends!" Rookie said as he looked at Shadow. "I am so sorry" Rookie apologized. "You are fine, but him, I want him many feet away from me" Shadow said as he growled lowly at Infinite. "Guys stop fighting, it is not worth it" Tangle said as he hugged Whisper who was stressing over the situation, not wanting a fight to break out at any given time.
"Guys, you are making Whisper get uncomfortable, that is rude" Sonic said as he got up and rubbed Whisper's back. "You okay Whisper?" Sonic asked her. "Y-Yes, I am okay" Whisper softly said. "Apologize to Whisper" Tangle said to both Shadow and Infinite. "Sorry, didn't mean to make you anxious or scared, or whatever you are feeling right now, I will TRY to get along with Infinite" Shadow said as he looked at Whisper. "Sorry shy silent wolf, didn't know we were causing you a bit of stress, it won't happen again" Infinite said to Whisper. "I-It's alright, y-you are forgiven" Whisper said in a quiet voice again.
"Are you guys hungry? We got extra food and snacks, we were planning on staying here for a while" Sonic said, inviting them to stay. "Well, I would love that, what do you think Finny?" Rookie asked Infinite. "As long as you are with me, I will stay" Infinite said as he licked his head under his mask that he lifted up a bit. "What do you say, wanna stay Whisper?" Tangle asked as she kissed her cheek. "S-Sure, I would l-like that, b-besides, I can't turn down on a fellow ally and f-friend" Whisper said softly with a little smile.
"Then come sit with us, the picnic blanket has room for everyone" Sonic said as he pulled out a few more meals for the other 4 to eat. "We got some potato salad, we got croquettes, we also have some fried chicken thighs, and some carne asada tacos" Sonic said as Rookie took a friend chicken thigh and bit into it, the flavors and the texture being juicy and delicious. "Wow, this is so good!" Rookie said as he kept eating the fried chicken. "C-Can I have a croquette?" Whisper kindly asked in her soft voice. "Sure, here you go" Sonic said as he handed her a plastic fork paper plate with a croquette on it along with a paper plate for Rookie if he needed it.
"Thanks Sonic" Rookie said. "Y-Yes, t-thank you for sharing your meal" Whisper said as she took her plate and fork. "I would try some potato salad, looks delicious" Tangle said with a smile. "Coming right up" Sonic said as he scooped some potato salad on a plate and gave it to her with a fork. "Thank you" Tangle said as she took her plate. "I will have the carne asada tacos, 3 please" Infinite said. "Okay" Sonic said as he picked up three of the tacos and gave it to Infinite on a paper plate. Infinite took the tacos and looked at them, the presentation of the taco looking like it would taste good.
Whisper tried her croquette and her tail swayed side to side, showing she enjoyed it. "S-So soft and yummy, is it with minced beef inside?" Whisper asked kindly. "Yes, it is to give the potato croquette its umami flavor" Sonic said with a smile. Whisper smiled and ate more of her croquette. "Mmmmm, so go Blue Man, this potato salad really hits the spot" Tangle said as she kept eating her food. "Glad you like it" Sonic said with a giggle. Infinite hesitated to try the carne asada taco, but brought up the courage as he swiftly picked it up, bit into it, and chewed ravenously. But all of a sudden, Infinite stopped and looked at the taco he just bit into.
Infinite didn't expect the carne asada taco to taste extremely good, making him scarf down a whole taco in 3 bites. "This is too good, what is your secret Sonic?" Infinite asked as he didn't expect what was to come next. "Actually, I made those tacos, it is beef, skirt steak beef precisely, which was marinated in minced cilantro, a lot of minced garlic, soy sauce mixed with olive oil, salt, pepper, cumin, paprika, freshly squeezed lime juice, and my secret ingredient, freshly squeezed orange juice and a little bit of tequila, did it overnight, soaked the small tortillas with the juice of the marinade and cooked it along with the tacos and when it came to assembling them, I cut the seared and slightly charred skirt steak sideways so it can keep its shape in the taco, glad you like it" Shadow said with a smirk at Infinite, knowing he didn't expect him to cook such a yummy meal like this one.
Infinite stood quiet and was about to spit out the taco but was too indulged with its flavor that he couldn't spit it out, swallowing it before speaking. "I hate you so much" Infinite said as he growled before taking another bite of the second taco. "I made all this food" Shadow said, shocking the other 3. "Really? That is amazing!" Rookie said while eating the meat off the bone. "T-That's nice, m-may I have another croquette along with a t-taco?" Whisper asked in her quiet voice. "Absolutely, help yourself" Shadow said as he kept eating his own burger. "I love your cooking man, this is top-tier culinary meal right here" Tangle said as she finished her plate of potato salad, taking more so she can keep eating, along with a fried chicken thigh.
Infinite couldn't be mad at Shadow as he looked away and mumbled a few words. "I am sorry, what did you say?" Shadow asked. "I said you did well, happy?" Infinite said as he growled lowly while taking more bites of his taco. "Why thank you" Shadow said as he then started to eat his roated potatoes. "I am so glad you all love my boyfriend's cooking, he is such a culinary genius" Sonic said as he kisses his cheek, smiling at his love, Shadow chuckling and kissing his head while going back to eating his own meal, along with Sonic eating what he has.
~1 Hour Later~
Sonic and Shadow were drinking some sodas and the other four were drinking different fruit drinks. "These strawberry mochi bites are so good, give me another Sonic" Rookie said as he held his hand out for a snack. Sonic dug into the little bag and gave Rookie a strawberry mochi bite. "Thank you" Rookie said as he bites into it and chews on it. Whisper and Tangle was sharing shower gummy worms while Infinite was eating a sour taffy rope. Sonic and Shadow were eating snacks as well, Shadow eating some chocolate-covered coffee beans and some of the tiramisu Sonic made.
"So, how long have you two been dating?" Rookie asked. "For a couple of days now" Sonic answered. "I-I bet you two are so happy" Whisper said as he takes another gummy worm and eats it. "We are, it is a wonderful feeling" Sonic said with a heartwarming smile. "That sounds like a great relationship, like me and Whisper, when I met her, it was like we were meant to be, she was so timid and needed my help, and as time went on, we started dating, isn't that right babe?" Tangle said as she kisses her cheek softly. "M-Mhm, it's true" Whisper said with a blush.
"Aww, you two are so cute together, one confident and one shy, perfect dynamic" Sonic said as he looked at Rookie. "What about you Rookie?" Sonic asked. "Well, since the Resistance ended, I found Infinite badly injured and took him under my care, and as he started to get used to me, he got closer to me, and ended up telling me his feelings, and it turns out he had a crush on me during the Resistance but only followed Eggman's orders to make him happy" Rookie said as he wrapped his tail around Infinite's tail, nuzzling on him as he finished his strawberry mochi bite.
Infinite looked away but he wasn't wrong. "Aww, Infinite like-liked you, so cute, you deserve to be happy" Sonic said as he gave Infinite a fist bump. Rookie laughed a bit while he and Infinite's tails wrapped more around each other to keep them from unraveling. "You know, I enjoyed having you all here, it was fun, we should hang out again sometime, I would like to see you all again so we can have fun like this once again, if you are interested" Sonic said as he looked at all four of them, the two couples looking at each other.
"Sure, I would love that, we had a great time!" Rookie said with a smile as he laughed a bit while Infinite nuzzled him. "Only if Rookie is there, I will be fine with coming again" Infinite said as he hugged onto his boyfriend and nuzzled him back. "What about you two?" Sonic asked Whisper and Tangle. "W-Well, of course, I-I would like that very much" Whisper said as she held Tangle's hand. "Heck yeah, I wanna hang out again, anytime, anywhere, as long as Whisper feels comfortable of course, then I will go wherever she wants to go" Tangle said with a cheeky smile and her tail giving him a thumbs up while she held her wolf.
"Wonderful, I would love to see you all and find a place for us to spend time together, if anything, I will notify you guys so you can check if you can come out not" Sonic said as he got up along with the others. "Great, looking forward to that" Rookie said as he helped Shadow fold the picnic blanket and smiled. "That's Sonic, wanting to make sure everyone has a great time" Tangle said with a laugh. "T-True, he is very kind and always wanting to make someone smile" Whisper said as she smiled a bit. "Well, I always want people to be happy, seeing people happy, makes my heart feel happy and accomplished" Sonic said with a smile and a giggle.
"That is why we always follow you anywhere Sonic, because if it wasn't for you, so many disasters would have happened already and none of us would be able to stop it, but you, you always find a way to make the future bright wherever you go, it is like you are a beacon of hope and light we all need in our darkest of times, and for that, we are forever grateful" Rookie said as he looked at the others. "I second that, he is right" Tangle said. "S-So true, I love being around him, I can't h-help but feel happy when I do" Whisper said as she holds Tangles hand and smiles.
"Fine, he is someone people want to look up to, and he is rather a formidable foe, who always finds a way to win in the end" Infinite said. "And he is someone who wouldn't leave someone in need, helping those unfortunate enough to be in a dire situation, kind of like myself" Shadow said as he kissed Sonic's forehead. "Aww, you guys, that is so nice, well, will you guys be okay getting back?" Sonic asked. "We should be fine, Finny can help us out of Cyberspace and land us back where we once were before we found you both" Rookie said, assuring Sonic they will be okay. "Alright, goodbye everyone, have an amazing rest of your day!" Sonic said as he put the picnic blanket in the basket and picked it up.
All 4 of them waved at Sonic and Shadow who got near each other and Shadow looked up at the sky. "CHAOS CONTROL!!!" Shadow yelled as again he used his Chaos Control ability to make it back home with Sonic in a split second. Sonic smiled and kissed his head. "Thank you for taking me and letting them eat with us, this just made my day" Sonic said as he giggled. "Well, I knew that would make you happy, so, I wanted your happiness before mine, and plus, no food went to waste, they all had a good meal, and I saw you smiling and laughing the whole time, that made me feel good just seeing you be so happy" Shadow said as he kissed his cheek multiple times.
"Shadow stop, that really tickles!" Sonic screamed as he laughed while Shadow picked up and nuzzled his nose on Sonic's nose. "I can't help it, I love you so very much" Shadow said as he kissed his nose before kissing him on the lips. In the picnic basket, there were pictures of Sonic with Shadow, along with Rookie, Infinite, Tangle, and Whisper, all of them looking like they had a wonderful time together while each held a Koco, an amazing memory for their time at Kronos Island and what will come for future hangouts with the happy couple who still shared their tender yet passionate kiss in their humble home.
