Luna rolled her eyes, standing beside her father at the school gates, the both of them watching in embarrassment as Maeve stumbled out of her car, waving at them as she attempted to rush over in her heels.
"I'm here!" Maeve exclaimed, scooping Luna into a dramatic hug, "I'm here!"
Luna wriggled in her mothers arms, scowling, "Mom!"
Maeve only hugged her tighter.
It was Derek's turn to roll his eyes, "Maeve."
Maeve sighed, unwrapping her arms from around Luna, moving to stand beside Derek.
"It's just a normal day, mom," Luna reminded, taking her sparkly backpack from Derek, "You didn't have to come."
Maeve frowned slightly, "But it's your first day back from suspension."
Luna raised her brows, mocking her mothers typical questioning stance by crossing her arms, "Which I wouldn't of had if you didn't scream at my teacher, mommy."
"Hold on a -" Maeve argued, stopping herself as Derek placed his hand on her shoulder, shaking his head at her.
After the whole Kate situation, Maeve made it very clear to the teachers about keeping an eye on Luna, ending up with Luna getting suspended for leaving school without an adult.
"Have a good day," Derek kissed the top of the Luna's head, leading her through the gates before Maeve could get in another word.
"Jazz is going to pick you up and you'll go to her house for dinner!" Maeve called after her, nervously tapping her foot.
"Okay!" Luna shouted back as she ran into the playground.
Derek noticed her frown, "She's going to be fine."
"I know," Maeve mumbled, watching her run intently.
Luna almost made it safely to the doors, until she tripped on a pebble and face planted the floor.
Maeve's mouth fell open in shock whilst Derek tried his very best not to laugh.
Luna had her fair share of bumps and scrapes, when she was younger Derek practically cried in pain for her, but discovering she had her mothers clumsiness, Derek had to deal with his daughter getting hurt and not having a meltdown about it.
"Lu?!" Derek had to hold Maeve back from picking up their daughter and taking her back home.
Luna scrambled to her feet, waving goodbye as she dashed up the steps, "I'm okay!"
Maeve sighed as the doors slammed shut , reluctantly turning to walk back to their cars, "She's so vulnerable."
"We've spoken to the school, well, shouted in your case," Derek ignored her glare, "But they know the rules about who can pick her up now. Dean is barley a few meters away. And if Deans not there, there's Scott, hell, there's even Stiles. Plus, she's our daughter, she's proven she's not stupid."
Maeve nodded along to his points, raising a brow at his silence, "And?"
"I'm going to start a pack," Derek watched her reaction cautiously.
Maeve squinted at him, "You mean you have started a pack and you're just nicely telling me now?"
Maeve knew as soon as Derek became an alpha he'd want a pack, he'd been surrounded by a large one for almost all of his childhood, it only made sense.
At Derek's nod, Maeve shrugged, unlocking her car, "It was the right thing to do."
"You sure?" Derek hesitated.
"Beacon Hills doesn't seem to be getting any safer," Maeve opened the car door, leaning against it, her scowl only deepening.
"Whats got you in a foul mood?" Derek questioned, leaning against his car parked beside hers, "Your meeting?"
Maeve had spent the early hours of the morning arguing with her boss about her permanent transfer to Beacon Hills.
"My sergeant moved me to the sheriffs department permanently," Maeve answered bitterly.
Derek looked to her in confusion, "Is that not a good thing?"
"No, he wants me there because he thinks Noah's inept!" Maeve exclaimed, clenching her fists in frustration, "He claims none of the cases were getting dealt with until I arrived. It's not like I chose to be apart of the biggest case the station had! his words were 'the station is in shambles and the sheriff is useless, you'll stay there or we'll let state take over the department'. He's such an asshole."
"He isn't inept," Derek comforted, "This town is just a supernatural freak show. But at least you'll be around a bit more now."
Maeve smiled slightly as she got in her car, at least there was one positive to this arrangement.
Walking up the steps to the lofts, Maeve sighed tiredly, "I have a funeral to attend."
Derek looked down at her in disbelief, "You're going to Kate's funeral?"
Kates funeral was the last place Maeve wanted to be, but ultimately the choice was out of her hands.
Maeve unlocked the door, sliding it open, "Some old faces are returning to town."
"I hope you're not calling me old, Diana."
Derek stopped walking at the top of the stairs, his shock falling on the sight of Lorraine Argent sat primly on the couch. He hadn't seen Maeve's grandmother since long before their divorce.
"Hello, Derek, you're looking well," Lorraine hummed in approval, glancing between them both, "I thought the both of you divorced."
Whilst Elizabeth was the manager of the Derek Hale fan club, Lorraine was the CEO.
Maeve's eyes grew wide in embarrassment, spluttering, "Nan!"
Lorraine blinked innocently as she stood, "What? You did?"
"Always a pleasure, Lorraine," Derek smiled genuinely.
Lorraine picked up her handbag before linking her arm with Maeve, "We best be going, Diana, I don't want my makeup to run."
Maeve sighed, waving goodbye to Derek over her shoulder as Lorraine pulled her down the hallway. Derek shook his head in amusement, listening to their chatter as they left.
"I can't imagine why you ever divorced that man, Diana, he's very easy on the eye nowadays," Lorraine tutted disapprovingly.
Maeve scowled, Lorraine knew very well Derek could hear every word that was said. Maeve also knew Derek would be stood with a stupid grin on his face ( he was )
"Yes, I'm aware, thank you, nan," Maeve rolled her eyes.
Lorraine clasped her hands together, looking around, "Now where in earth is Elizabeth?"
Noah yanked Scott and Stiles up from their hiding position behind a gravestone, glaring at the both of them in irritation.
"Give me back my tie!"
Stiles stumbled on his feet whilst Scott smiled innocently, "Hey, uh, Dad?"
Scott thankfully saved them both from Noah's wrath by spotting another blonde walking alongside Maeve and Elizabeth towards the funeral, "Who's that?"
Noah blinked in shock, "My god..."
"What? Dad, what is it?" Stiles asked immediately, "Dad!"
Noah shook his head, glancing away and back again, finding the woman still stood there, "Lorraine, Elizabeth's mother, she supposedly died almost twenty years ago. Elizabeth and Chris both thought she was dead, I didn't even know she wasn't."
Noah walked off to try and make sense of the Argents arrival, whilst Scott and Stiles stood incredibly confused.
Stiles watched the three Argents walk suspiciously, "Is she a hunter?"
"She's arm in arm with Maeve," Scott pointed out, "All the Argents know Maeve's a werewolf now."
Scott grew silent as he picked up on a scent, and Stiles couldn't take anymore of not knowing what was going on, "What? What's going on? Scott!"
"She's a werewolf," Scott replied, his voice shaky in complete disbelief, "Lorraine - do you think the Argents know about it? Maybe that's why she's been gone."
Allison sat quietly in her chair beside Victoria, her grandfathers arrival had made her even more anxious, but as her father suddenly stood up, she knew something was wrong. She spotted Maeve and her aunt Elizabeth first, they were expected, but the older woman beside them she had no idea who she was.
"Mother?" Chris gasped.
Now Chris knew for a long time that his mother was alive after Maeve broke the news, but he had yet to see her in person. She looked better than he expected, be Chris knew that ageing didn't effect werewolves the same as humans, and if anything she looked scarier than she did when he was a child.
Allison's eyes widened, her father had told her all these years that her grandmother died before she was born.
"Hello, Christopher," Lorraine smiled at her son, hugging him before glaring at his wife "Victoria."
"Lorraine-" Gerard stood from his chair slowly, blinking in shock.
Lorraine held up a hand, joining Elizabeth and Maeve on another row of chairs, "Sit down, Gerard, I'm not in the mood."
Chris sat down beside his daughter, nodding to his mother, "Allison, this is your grandmother, Lorraine."
Allison stayed silent as she tried to piece it all together, the news of the reality of what her aunt Kate was truly like and Maeve's lies was still fresh on her mind and this was just about to set her off the edge.
Maeve looked around at the flashing lights, she really was in awe of her grandmothers plans, Lorraine's big idea to surprise the family with her arrival in front of photographers so they couldn't react was really quite clever.
Looking past the cloud of cameras, Maeve spotted two familiar teens, rolling her eyes as Stiles scrambled to spot her.
Stiles waved his hands, mouthing, "What the hell is happening?"
Maeve smiled back, laughing discreetly as Noah reached over to pull him away again.
Maeve's gaze met Allisons, and she could happily say she was completely confused as Allison glared back. What was that all about?
As the funeral began, Chris looked behind him to whisper, "What are you three doing here? This is a funeral for the woman you hate."
Lorraine held her hand to her chest, "Am I not allowed to pay my respects for my daughter, Christopher?"
Chris raised his brows, unamused, "Just please leave by the time Gerard gets out a gun and shoots you."
Lorraine laughed at the thought whilst Elizabeth sat staring at the sky in boredom. Maeve smiled sympathetically at her uncle, nodding at his pleading stare.
He did have a point after all, as soon as the photographers had gone Gerard would be out for blood.

Hours after the funeral, there was a knock at the door of Maeve's loft. Elizabeth stood to get it, glancing at her mother who simply put her feet up on her chair who obviously wasn't going to get it.
Elizabeth smiled at the sight of her twin brother, opening the door for him to come in, but he stayed stood awkwardly in the doorway.
"I wanted to warn you," Chris told them, "The both of you. Gerard's on a war path."
"You don't have to hide in the doorway," Maeve's voice echoed from the top of the stairs, slowly emerging at the bottom, "You can come in."
"Is she asleep?" Elizabeth questioned, sitting beside her mother on the sofa.
"Three freaking books later," Maeve sat down on one of the bright armchairs with a huff, "Whats going on?"
"Its not safe for you guys with him around like this," Chris stressed, sitting on the opposite armchair.
"I'm not scared of Gerard," Lorraine scoffed, "I've spent the past 20 years without him, haven't I?"
"I doubt he cares about little ole human me," Elizabeth added with a hum.
"Mother-" Chris began.
"Its been a long time, Christopher," Lorraine reminded him, "We're capable of looking out for each other, Maeve and I are used to being hunted. Maeve survived my nutter of a daughter, as did I at one point. We're the ones with supernatural healing, not him, he'll end up just like Katherine if he pushes it."
"He doesn't know about Luna yet," Chris turned to Maeve, knowing she'd take him seriously, "I'm guessing it won't take him long to figure out."
Maeve nodded in response, letting out a sigh. Luna was out of harms way for now.
"Perhaps we should blind him," Lorraine suggested in amusement, "I heard its an effective deterrent."
"Mother-" Chris stared at her in shock, rolling his eyes as Lorraine and Elizabeth smiled at each other.
"Your faith in us is astounding," Lorraine chuckled, waving him off, "We'll be fine."
Chris raised his brows, motioning to the three of them, "You three look like some evil blonde trio to him."
"I'm retiring to bed," Lorraine muttered, rising from the sofa, "The stress is awful for my skin."
"Nan, sit down," Maeve glared, "This is important. Wouldn't you like to spend some time with your son after however many years?"
"Well, If I have to deal with this i'm getting wine," Lorraine grumbled, making her way towards the kitchen.
"You can't get drunk," Elizabeth called after her, Lorraine simply laughing in response, "Dear god!"
Maeve snorted, burying her face in her pillow, wondering how she'd never told her mother werewolves can get drunk.
Chris frowned at the door Lorraine went through, "Has she got worse?"
"Oh please, she's always been like this," Elizabeth reminded.
"Where do you think mom gets it from?" Maeve added cheekily, laughing as Elizabeth threw a cushion at her with a glare.
"Mommy!"
Maeve groaned, running a hand through her hair as she stood from the chair, bumping into Lorraine with a large glass of wine in hand.
"That child needs a stern talking to, Diana," Lorraine tutted, sitting down.
"She's six," Maeve pointed out.
Lorraine raised her brows, "And?"
"She'll just laugh at me," Maeve muttered in embarrassment, ignoring her mothers laughter.
"That child runs this house-" Lorraine started a rant, but gasped at the door slid open, clapping her hands together, "Ah someone I can tolerate!"
Derek looked up in surprise at the happy welcome, not expecting that walking into his ex wife's home. He also wasn't expecting to find Chris sat in the living room.
"Hello, Lorraine, Liz," Derek greeted the women grinning at him, nodding at Chris, "Chris."
"Derek," Chris replied equally as stiffly.
"Whats going on?" Derek questioned, closing the door behind him.
"Gerard being a pain in the ass," Maeve replied simply.
Derek nodded in acknowledgment, "Right."
"Mommy!...is that daddy?"
"She's driving me mad," Maeve took a deep breath, walking with Derek towards the stairs, "I am not reading another princess book. Where have you been?"
Derek hesitantly replied, "Out?"
Maeve squinted at him suspiciously, pulling him upstairs to question him without others listening in. Chris watched the couple with a frown.
"Poor man," Lorraine sighed, sipping on her wine.
Chris looked to Lorraine in confusion, "Whats that supposed to mean?"
"Maeve's exceptionally more harsh with him now they're divorced," his sister replied.
Chris practically fell forward in his seat, "They're not together?"
"No," the women sighed sadly.
"My granddaughter is insane for letting that one go," Lorraine shook her head, "Completely mental."
"They're divorced?" Chris continued to blink in shock.
Elizabeth sat up, "You didn't know?"
"What happened?" Chris continued to question, "Did he hurt her?"
"Calm down, Chris, Maeve isn't a baby," Elizabeth sighed, "But its long story, Maeve should be the one to tell you."
"It was bad?" Chris worried.
"Chris..." Elizabeth smiled sadly, "No matter how you try, you can't protect your kids from everything."
"I hate to say it but she really loved him," Chris admitted, "I didn't think they'd break up."
"Don't be silly she still does," Lorraine corrected, "She'll have her fun with whatever that stupid boyfriend of hers is and come to her senses soon enough."
"Mother they're getting married," Elizabeth reminded Lorraine.
"What?!" Chris exclaimed, suddenly much more confused.
"Not married yet," Lorraine raised her wine towards her daughter, "Especially not on my watch."
"No-you're not going to meddle," Elizabeth told her mother sternly.
"I don't have to," Lorraine smirked,"Theres someone much more devious upstairs."
"I'm lost," Chris looked between them both.
"My great-granddaughter! Such a sweet little thing!" Lorraine cheered, "She won't have any weddings happening unless its her parents, believe me."
"She's a menace," Elizabeth laughed.
Lorraine's smile grew, "Exactly."

"So?" Maeve questioned as they reached the landing, Luna's door beside Maeve and Dean's beside Derek.
"Scott almost got himself killed," Derek told her tiredly, "Gerard and his cronies killed an omega in the woods. Cut him in half."
Maeve inhaled sharply, "Did they see you?"
"No, Scott got the message through," Derek replied, "Even if Kieran punched it into him."
Maeve groaned disapprovingly, "Derek."
"Don't 'Derek' me, Kieran was the one to punch him!" Derek defended, raising his brows as Maeve turned to open Luna's door "Its almost a full moon, it's pointless trying to get her to sleep."
Maeve scowled, crossing her arms, "Would you like to stay up with a hyper six year old all night?"
Loud music suddenly filled the hallway from Dean's room, Maeve sighed in defeat, marching into his room, "Dean!"
Whilst Maeve went to shout at the top of her lungs to his brother, Derek walked to find Luna in the middle of an intense looking tea party with her teddy bears.
Luna yawned but quickly blinked awake at the sight of Derek, who stared at her suspiciously, "You look tired."
"I'm not," Luna argued, staring back at him with eyes clouded with sleep.
"And you're not just having your mother on by not going to sleep until I come home?" Derek questioned, lifting her into his arms away from her game.
Luna blinked innocently, "No."
By the time Maeve came back, Luna was fast asleep in her fathers arms, a death grip around his shoulders telling them both she didn't plan on moving anytime soon.
Maeve paused in the doorway, rolling her eyes as Derek smiled at her, "Oh now you're an alpha you have sudden child rearing abilities? Good to know."
Derek laughed, following her out of Luna's room and down the hallway into her own, "Jealous?"
Maeve rolled her eyes, sighing down at the large wash basket she had to tackle on the floor.
Derek looked around her room, not much had changed since he'd last seen It when it was still their room. The was a whole wall of windows showing the view of downtown Beacon Hills covered in white drapes, white high ceilings made the room brighter with similar beams like thee rest of the loft.
Derek sat down on her fourposter bed, resting Luna's head on a pillow, "Are you alright, after this morning?"
Maeve shrugged, carrying the basket over to the wardrobe that was made out of open storage. mostly hidden by a wall, "Well I didn't get to dance on her grave, but it was a relief."
"I'm fine, Derek," Maeve noticed his concern, "I'm just glad to see the bitch gone, and Gerard's no bigger threat than he always been - he almost fell over at the sight of nan."
"She is a bit scary," Derek admitted.
Maeve laughed, sitting down at the entrance of her wardrobe, sorting the clothes into piles between her, Luna and Dean.
"How come she's back now?"
Maeve folded a jumper, "I think Kate dying made her a bit protective of Chris, she doesn't want a repeat of Kate."
"Well at least we know Chris isn't a psychopath," Derek pointed out.
"I think she feels guilty for leaving him with Gerard for so long," Maeve bit her lip in thought, "Or she just wants to give Gerard the revenge he deserves, she's been watching a lot of murder shows. Reckons because I have an in with the law that I'd be able to get her off."
Derek shook his head in amusement, "Like you did with me?"
"You weren't guilty!" Maeve exclaimed, "My grandmother was talking of actually murdering someone. Hey, you could give her some times, oh mighty alpha."
"Vey funny, Diana," Derek glared, Maeve grinned back at him.
"Seriously, though, Gerard won't hurt us," Derek stated, "you trust me, don't you?"
Maeve stopped folding, turning to him completely with a soft smile, "Course I do."
"Then leave him to me," Maeve looked hesitant at his ask, but nodded slowly at his determined look.
Derek shifted Luna in his arms, the small blonde resembled a starfish as she lay half across Derek with her arms smacking over his face every time she moved.
"Derek?" Derek looked up at her voice, "Thanks."
"You don't have to thank me, Maeve."
Maeve fell silent, staring thoughtfully at the neat piles of clothes, Derek noticed this instantly.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Derek noticed her hesitance as she looked back to him, "Maeve. When you said we should start over, I meant it when I agreed, we're friends - friends talk."
"I don't know if I can get back with Jake," Maeve admitted, glancing at her gown hanging in her wardrobe, "I'm just tired of lying."
Derek leant forward, spotting the gown that captured her attention, smirking playfully, "I preferred your first one."
Maeve hid her smile, holding in her laugh, "Course you'd think that."
Derek tried his best not to show his anger at the mention of Jake, "Have you spoke to him since the other night?"
"No," Maeve muttered, "I'm going to have to at some point. Don't worry about it, I'll probably just end it."
Derek didn't bother hiding his smile.
Maeve leant back against the wardrobe doors, fully facing Derek, "So...there is something we haven't addressed."
Derek raised his brows, waiting for her to continue.
"Are you going to be my alpha now?" Maeve questioned, "Because, if you are, don't expect me to listen to my ex husband barking orders every full moon - no that pun wasn't intentional, it was quite funny though, wasn't it?"
"I definitely do not bark," Derek scowled.
Maeve nodded playfully, "Yeah its more of a friendly growl."
"God, you're worse than Stiles," Derek groaned, laying his head back on a pillow, "I can't take it."
"Now that is insulting," Maeve grumbled, "Stiles and I have a unique humour - Derek?"
Maeve turned away from her wardrobe, rolling her eyes at Derek already in a deep sleep despite closing his eyes for a matter of seconds.
"Great," Maeve sighed, sitting down on the other side of the bed, "Sleep in the middle of my bed, sweet ex husband of mine, because that's totally normal..."
Maeve knew she could go sleep on the couch, but there was a slightly awkward family reunion going on downstairs that she didn't want to go back to go, and after her early morning meeting she was practically a dead weight, so she sat back and fell asleep beside her daughter and ex husband.
Maeve was woken by someone ( Dean ) stomping around the kitchen, she took a deep breath, another day begins...
Maeve rolled on her side, finding Luna curled up at her side with her hair falling over her face despite falling asleep with it tied up, not surprised to find her daughter in her bed yet again.
But an arm tightening around her shoulders caused Maeve to look up suddenly, blinking in shock at the sight of Derek fast asleep, she knew he was fast asleep by the way he sleeps with his mouth a little open just like Luna does, whilst with Derek that usually meant he'd start snoring.
Maeve almost had to remind herself it wasn't the year previous and she and Derek weren't together anymore. If her racing heart was to prove anything, it was that Maeve was too happy to see her ex husband first thing in the morning.
Quietly sneaking out of bed, Maeve grabbed her dressing gown and rushed downstairs to steer Dean away from her kitchen.
"Put the pan down," Dean let the frying pan clatter down onto the counter, whirling around with a smug grin.
"Diana, darling, nice of you to leave my brothers arms and join me," Dean teased, "I do hope nothing inappropriate happened, there's too many innocent ears in this house."
Maeve rolled her eyes, gently hitting him with the pan, "Shut up, you know nothing like that happened."
Dean shrugged, sitting on the counter, "Never know with you two."
"We're not together," Maeve sighed, picking out the ingredients for breakfast from the fridge, "And we've only just got on better terms, it's not like i'm going to go hop into bed with him the moment we're civil."
"You know Luna set you both up last night," Dean pointed out, "She told me all about her plan on the way home from school."
"Thats why she's the better granddaughter."
Maeve turned to see Lorraine, almost dropping the bowl in hand at the bright face cream covering her face, "Jeez! Isn't it a bit early for your ostentatious skincare routine, Nan?"
"My skin won't take care of itself, Diana," Lorraine scolded, her face brightening behind the green mask, "Now what's this I hear about you and Derek in bed?"
Maeve's cheeks glowed red,"Nan!"
