Dean walked after Luna as she skipped ahead, dramatically retelling her day and school whilst Dean half listened in.
"Dean!"
Dean looked up in confusion as he noticed Allison leaving her house, rushing down the driveway towards them.
Dean scowled at his classmate, "What do you want?"
"That's rude," Luna pointed out, swinging her backpack around her arms.
"Shush, you demon," Dean patted her head, "Well, Argent, what do you want?"
"Is um, Maeve alright I heard about what happened at the pool?" Allison questioned nervously.
"She's fine," Dean answered suspiciously, whirling around as a tree branch snapped behind him.
Luna stumbled back against Allison as Deans tall body fell to the floor, a needle of what Luna could smell was something dangerous, in his neck.
"Uncle Dean!" Luna gasped, kneeling down next to him, "Are you okay? Uncle Dean?"
Allison looked away from Dean in shock, spotting her grandfather being the cause of Deans state, "What are you doing?"
Gerard smiled slyly at Luna, "Miss Hale and I need a chat."
Luna stepped back fearfully, her bright blue eyes springing with tears as Gerard grabbed her arm, pulling her and Allison up the driveway.
"Wait-" Allison stressed, stepping in front of Luna, "You shouldn't do this. You don't even know if she's a werewolf!"
"Oh," Gerard chuckled, noticing Luna's terrified glare, the way Maeve once looked at him, "She's a wolf, alright."
Pulling Luna into the living room, Gerard pointed at the sofa, "Sit."
"You sit, old man," Luna argued stubbornly, staying stood.
Gerard took a breath, "Just like your mother I see."
Luna gasped as he stepped towards her, shoving her to sit down, but she stumbled on her untied laces, falling to the ground with a sickening crack echoing around the room.
Chris rushed in, hearing the commotion from upstairs, but felt the air leave his lungs at the sight of Luna on the floor, tears rolling down her cheeks. Since Gerard's arrival he'd been pushing the boundaries of being a hunter, and going after children was one of them. Chris was livid, especially given Luna was Maeve's child.
"What the hell are you playing at?" Chris shouted, seething as he pushed Gerard away from Luna, "She's a child!"
Chris crouched down in front of Luna, helping her sit up, "Luna are you alright?"
Luna shook her head with a cry, cradling her arm, glancing up at Gerard in fear.
Chris took an angry breath, lifting the small girl into his arms, Gerard watching disapprovingly, "Christopher, don't."
Pushing back past Gerard, Chris stormed out of the house, "We don't hurt children!"
Allison ran down the driveway after him, "Dad wait!"
Chris helped Luna into his car, turning to Allison angrily, "Did you let him do this?"
"No- " Allison stuttered, "Of course not. He pushed her as soon as we got inside! I didn't know he would hurt her!"
Chris glared in disappointment, nodding to Deans unconscious body as he got into the car, "Help her uncle."
Allison nodded, rushing down to try and wake Dean. Luna put on her seatbelt, sniffling into her jumper.
"It's alright," Chris started up the car, smiling reassuringly, "You're gonna be alright.
Luna's tears turned to sobs, "I want my mom!"

Luna had been silent apart from her cries the whole time the doctor had attended to her broken arm, and given she was still young, her healing was not up to par with older wolves.
"Why does the bad man want me?"
Chris looked to her from the chair beside her bed, a frown on his face, "He's tried to get to you before?"
Luna nodded slightly, running a hand over her cast, looking up in relief at her mother's voice, "Luna!"
Maeve sprinted down the hallway and into Luna's room, gasping at the state of her daughter. Maeve almost fainted when Chris had called to tell her what happened, and relaying the message to Derek, she was sure she heard something break on the other end of the phone.
"Oh my god- what happened?" Maeve scooped her into a hug gently, kissing the top of Luna's head, "Is she alright?"
"Broken arm," Chris answered with a sigh.
Relaxed in her mother's arms, Luna held up her arm, "I got a pink cast, mommy."
Maeve smiled sadly, blinking back her tears as she hugged Luna tighter.
"He broke her arm?" Maeve questioned, her voice crackling, "How long was he alone with her?"
"Not long, I heard her fall and ran in," Chris answered, "I'm so sorry Maeve I had no idea he was going to do that."
Maeve nodded, silently hugging Luna. Derek was through the door next, the rage on his face softening once he saw Luna in Maeve's arms.
"Hey Lu," Derek smiled, Luna climbing over Maeve to hug him next, "How you feeling?"
"Scotts Mommy gave me some medicine," Luna answered, holding up her arm, "Will you sign my cast? I want you to be the first to sign it."
Derek and Chris noticed Maeve's breathing pick up, Derek answering, "Course I will, Lu, just give me a second to talk to your mom."
Sharing a look with Chris, Derek led Maeve out of the room, closing the door behind him. He had just turned around when Maeve hugged him tightly.
"It's alright," Derek held her gently, rubbing Maeve's back as she cried, "she's okay."
Maeve shook her head, "He hurt her, Derek! I was supposed to protect her from him."
Maeve's worst nightmare had came true, knowing she did everything to protect Luna but her family still hurt her.
"This isn't your fault, Maeve," Derek argued, "He's a psycho, he would've tried to hurt Lu if we were there or not."
Maeve continued to cry, the worst of her panic attack easing, "What if this has messed her up? she could be traumatised!"
Derek sighed, pushing Maeve's hair away from her eyes, tilting her head so she was looking at him, "Then we'll help her through it. Luna's going to be okay, Maeve."

"Can we please get out of here before my dads deputy or Maeve sees me?"
Before Stiles could even try to drive away, Maeve stepped in front of the car, hands pressed against the hood with an unamused look on her face. Maeve hardly wanted to be at work, but Luna was safe at home with Derek most likely blackmailing him into something Maeve wouldn't let her do, so she had no choice but come in.
"Oh, oh god. Oh my god! Could this get anyworse?" Stiles exclaimed, groaning as he noticed the sheriff pulled up to the scene.
Jackson, in the back seat, made a noise in his sleepy state, rolling onto his back.
"That was rhetorical!" Stiles grumbled.
Scott nodded to Stiles' father, "Get rid of him."
"Get rid of him? We're at a crime scene and he's the sheriff!" Stiles argued.
"Do something," Scott panicked.
Maeve opened Stiles' car door, stepping aside, "Out."
"Maeve-" Stiles began, but climbed out at her stern glare, hesitantly approaching his father.
"What the hell is going on?" Maeve questioned taking his seat, eyes wide as she noticed someone in the back seat, "Is that Jackson Whittmore?"
Maeve had accepted that she'd let Derek take control of the situation and she try to keep it under wraps at the station, but she was getting sick of being kept out of the loop.
"Whats...whats going on?" Jackson mumbled trying to sit up.
Scott jumped in shock, rushing to push him back, "Jackson be quiet."
"What-" Jackson was silenced by Maeve punching him across the jaw unconscious.
Scott gasped staring at Jackson, "Maeve!"
Stiles scrambled back over to the car after distracting his dad, glancing between Maeve, Scott and Jackson "What - what, I, you know what, don't tell me."
"Well, thats really good you guys," Patting Scotts shoulder, Maeve climbed back out of the car, "Kidnap a lawyers kid, I'm so proud. I'll visit you in jail."
Stiles rolled his eyes, taking his seat back, "You can bring your delinquent husband, he'll fit in fine!"
"Delinquent?" Maeve stopped by the crime scene tape, "You sound like a middle aged woman."
"I take it you're not helping then?" Scott called back.
"Not helping? I just convinced a group of traumatised people that they were hallucinating when what they saw was in fact a giant lizard trying to kill them," Maeve argued, glaring at Scott, "So I'd say I'm helping."
"Derek would help you if you got over your pride," she reminded them, turning on her heels and walking away, "He's not the bad guy, we all have the same enemy!"

Maeve, Derek, Isaac and Luna approached the closed vet clinic, before Luna could search out any baby animals, Maeve scooped Luna into her arms.
Setting Luna on her hip, Maeve looked to her pointedly, "Don't you even think about smuggling another cat home."
Before Luna could reply, Scott opened the door, noticing Isaac disapprovingly, "What's he doing here?"
"I need him," Derek replied, pushing past Scott to get inside, his family following behind him.
"I don't trust him," Scott complained.
Isaac rolled his eyes, "Yeah well he doesn't trust you either."
"You know what? And Derek really doesn't care," Derek added in tiredly.
Maeve sighed, "And Maeve thinks you're acting like children."
Ignoring Maeve, Derek waited by the gate to be let past, "Now where's the vet is he gonna. help us or not?"
"Derek you know me well enough to not be called the vet," Alan greeted with a smile, opening thee gate for them.
"Ignore him Alan he's in a bad mood," Maeve apologised, hitting Derek's chest, Luna following her actions which earned a look from betrayal from Derek.
"Now, your friend Jackson, are we planning to kill him or save him?" Alan questioned before he let them walk past any further.
"Kill him."
"Save him."
Derek and Scott looked to each other in frustration, whilst Maeve stared up at the ceiling in exasperation - wanting to be anywhere but where she was.
"Save him," Scott repeated forcefully.
Bored of the bickering, Luna shuffled out of her mothers arms, shouting "Save him!" before running into the next room.
"Save him," Derek added reluctantly, despite Luna answering for him.
Following Luna into the room, Derek and Maeve greeted Archie who was leant against the wall.
"Who's the alpha, Derek? You or Luna?" Archie teased with a smile.
Luna squealed at Archie, running forward, "Uncle Archie! Uncle Archie!"
Archie hugged his goddaughter, "So, do I get to sign your cast or am I not cool enough for that?"
Luna shook her head dramatically, "You can sign right next to grandma!"
Luna dashed off in search of a pen and probably another cat.
Derek glared at his friend, sulkily moving to stand next to him whilst Maeve jumped to sit on a counter, "I thought we already covered this, i'm the alpha."
"Maeve-" Derek began, but moved to swat Isaac's hand away from a tray of bottles, "Watch what you touch."
Isaac leant forward in curiosity, "So, what are you? Some kind of witch?"
"No, i'm a veterinarian," Alan told him slowly, smiling politely.
Isaac muttered an oh, turning to Archie, "Do you know anything?"
"I'm a lawyer," Archie answered bluntly.
Maeve snorted loudly, blushing as they all turned to her "Sorry..."
Maeve pondered locking Derek, Stiles and Scott away and throwing away the key to keep them out of trouble as she ran through the dancing crowds, searching for Isaac who'd called her in a fluster that things had took a turn for the worse when trying to capture the kanima.
"Isaac?" Maeve shouted over the music, tempted to grab her badge and order all the crowds out of there, "Isaac!"
Isaac popped his head out from behind some plastic curtains, "Maeve!"
Maeve rushed over, pushing past the curtain finding Erica and Boyd looking equally as nervous.
"What the hells going on?" Maeve took a breath, noticing the empty vial of tranquilliser, "Oh no, please tell me you used that wisely."
"I didn't work?" Erica stuttered, sharing a look with the other teens, "Derek, Scott and Stiles went after it, hunters are here."
Maeve closed her eyes, "Brilliant. Okay, go home, or to the loft, wherever - just keep out of the kanima's way alright? Where did they go?"
Boyd nodded to the fire exit, "Outside."
The pack rushed back out through the the crowds, the teens leaving out through the front and Maeve heading out the back doors.
"Oh, my god! its working. Oh, this is..." Stiles cheered as he closed the mountain ash, "Yes. I did something."
Derek glanced down at the ash, rolling his eyes at the teens cheering. Maeve stumbled through the doors, taking a breath at the sight of Stiles and Derek.
Stiles eyes widened at the sight of Maeve, "Oh no."
Before Maeve could berate the both of them, a pained howl reached hers and Derek's ears.
"Scott," Maeve mumbled, looking to Derek in concern.
Stiles frowned, "What?"
Derek looked around listening or for the teens, "Scott. Break it."
Stiles chuckled motioning to the line proudly, "What? no way!"
"Scott's dying!" Derek shouted.
Stiles stumbled over his words, "Okay, what? How do you know that?"
Derek huffed in annoyance, sharing a irritated look with Maeve, "Oh my god, Stiles, I just know! break it!"
"Stiles!" Maeve panicked.
"Ah-" Stiles fumbled forward, pushing away some of the ash.
Derek ran in the direction of the howl first, Maeve hesitated looking between Stiles and Derek but ran after Derek.
"Stiles be careful!" Maeve shouted before disappearing around a corner.
Derek, who Maeve refused to admit was a faster runner, found Scott first, but stumbled back at the wolfsbane being pumped into the air. Maeve watched him stumble, pulling her jumper over her mouth to try and shield herself from the gas.
Maeve gasped as Victoria appeared out of nowhere, stabbing Derek in the shoulder. Before Maeve could even process what was going on Derek and Victoria were fighting, and Scott was on the ground barley breathing.
"Scott!"
Crouching down beside the teen, Maeve tried to lift him up but he was a dead-weight, "Come on, Scott help me out here. Scott!"
It was probably down to the gas being pumped into the room, but Maeve could hardly keep up with what was going on, one moment she was helping Scott up, the next she saw Derek fall and now they were outside again.
Breathing in the fresh air, Maeve closed her eyes, leaning against the building. She jumped as a hand touched her shoulder, relaxing noticing it was just Derek, reaching forward to hug him.
"Are you alright? I saw her stab you," Maeve stressed, tracing the healing wound on his shoulder.
"I'm fine, are you?" Derek questioned.
Maeve lifted her head from his shoulder, blinking in surprise at their sudden proximity, stopping herself from moving any further, their noses practically touching. Cheeks burning in embarrassment, Maeve stepped out of the hug, trying to erase the thought of kissing Derek out of her head.
"Yeah, i'm fine," Maeve forced a smile.
Looking across the road, Maeve watched Chris usher his wife into an SUV, but gasped at the bleeding bite on her arm. Looking up at Derek who didn't appear guilty, Maeve sighed.
Things just took a turn for the worse.
Unlike the others, Maeve had a job to do and once she found out another murder had happened inside, she had to stay. She and her partner Collins spoke with the coroner as the deputies took witness statements. The plastic curtains pulled back and out stepped Noah.
Maeve sighed, approaching him with a sympathetic smile, "Noah, you can't be here."
When Maeve's boss told her that Noah had been taken from the role of Sheriff she'd been furious, her anger growing immensely when he'd been described as 'incompetent with a son who can't keep his nose out of police business'
She'd almost got herself suspended with an argument after he'd said that, Stiles had been found at a few crime scenes, she'd had a wanted fugitive as an ex husband, she'd argued.
"I just want to know her name," Noah crouched down to the body sadly.
"Its Cara, Cara Simmons," Maeve answered, frowning as he pulled out a list of names.
"Its not here," Noah mumbled in frustration, "Her names not on the list."
"Come on," Maeve led him away from the body, "We'll get your job back okay? I'm gonna fix this."
Noah smiled thankfully, "Don't make my office too girly alright?"
"Promise," Maeve grinned, turning back to go back to the scene, "We still need to have that talk!"
Maeve had been so wrapped up in Luna, the kanima and the pack that the questions about her father took a backseat, especially with Elizabeth staying silent about everything.
"Yep! After you talk to your mother!" Noah called back as he walked away.
"Why can't I have breakfast yet?" Luna stared longingly at the plate of pancakes in front of her, pouting at her mother.
Isaac smiled at the seven year old, eating his own breakfast whilst Maeve tried to coax her daughter into doing her homework. The full moon was the night previous, and any upset Isaac had felt, vanished after an hour with Maeve and Luna.
"Because you're not stuck with your work, you're refusing to do it, there's a difference," Maeve argued, passing the notebook back to Luna with a sigh.
"But I don't need it!" Luna protested, shoving the book back, "I don't want to learn about mountains, I want to learn about life! How can I send Dean to jail for breaking my tea set if I don't know how!"
Maeve pinched the bridge of her nose, "I should've never let you watch legally blonde... Luna Talia, You'll get detention if you don't do it."
Luna crossed her arms stubbornly, "Well, maybe I want detention."
"Give me one good reason why you'd want a detention," Maeve raised her brows in amusement, sharing a look with Isaac who was quite entertained.
"They sit us on comfy chairs," Luna shrugged, reaching forward to take her pancakes, "Ooo chocolate!"
"Luna!" Maeve groaned, "You're too much like your father."
Luna paused mid chew, eyes wide, "Dad didn't do his homework too?"
"No I did your dads homework," Maeve laughed, "Like i'm doing yours..."
"That's unfair - I helped-"
Maeve turned to smile at Derek but froze finding Peter next to him, blinking in shock as she looked between them both. Peter. Alive. Maeve knew if she'd been standing she'd probably faint.
Peter grinned innocently,"Diana, sweetheart-"
"Uh oh," Luna watched her mother slowly stand from the table, Isaac looked to her in even more confusion.
"What. the. Hell."
"Maeve-" Derek started, cautiously taking a step back as Maeve rounded the table approaching them at a fast speed.
Luna's gasp and Isaacs spoon dropping to his plate echoed around the room as Maeve punched Peter with all her might.
Isaac stared at them both in complete confusion, whilst Derek just sat down with a sigh, holding his arms out for Luna who happily climbed over to sit with him.
Luna wrapped her arms around his stomach, resting her head on his chest, "Who's that?"
"Uncle Peter," Derek replied hesitantly.
"Dead uncle Peter?" Luna frowned, "Burnt like toast uncle Peter?"
"Thats the one," Derek muttered, "Burnt like toast? Is that your mother saying things again?"
Luna nodded slowly, "i'm confused."
"Me too," Isaac added quietly over Maeve's shouts.
"I cannot believe you have the nerve to step foot in here after what you did! Did the fire burn out all your common sense? Oh of course it did! You wouldn't of killed your niece of it didn't!"
"What did he do to mommy?" Luna watched Maeve take a breath before punching him again.
"I could kill you again! How the freaking hell are you alive? Why can't you stay dead!"
"Made her very angry," Derek answered, wincing at the sound of Peters jaw breaking, followed by his nose.
Luna paused thoughtfully, "More than you?"
"A lot more than me," Derek chuckled.
Luna watched Peter fall to the floor, "Oh. Do we like uncle Peter?"
"Not at the moment," Derek watched Maeve step back, glaring daggers at Peter.
Maeve had a lot to say, but it couldn't be said in front of Luna so their argument had to wait.
Dean walked down the stairs rubbing at his eyes tiredly, but spotting a bloody Peter and Maeve heaving in rage, he backed up the steps.
"Derek, you've turned into a human pillow," Peter raised his brows tauntingly, pulling himself up to his feet, "He's going soft in his old age."
"I'm twenty five," Derek argued.
"Almost thirty," Peter pointed out.
Maeve rolled her eyes at the conversation, "You're almost forty."
"I'm almost ten," Luna added.
"Hello," Peter greeted, approaching his great niece, "You have my eyes."
"Your eyes are still in your head," Luna argued smartly, looking Peter up and down before climbing off Derek's lap, "You're weird."
Spinning in on her slippers, Luna make her way to the stairs, "I'm retiring to my room."
"Stop mocking your grandmother!" Maeve called after her.
"Great kid you've raised, very well done," Peter set his eyes on Isaac, who's spoon still lay in the middle of the plate, "Adopted have we? I knew it wouldn't be long until you had more kids running around wild."
"Ignore him, Isaac," Maeve smiled, hitting Peter with a pillow as she passed him, "Isaac is part of the pack now, he's family so leave him alone."
Derek reached for luna's plate, taking a bite from the pancakes, "Get lost, Peter."
"Come on, we're family!"
"Get lost!" Maeve practically shrieked.
Eyes wide, Peter made his way out of the loft, "Alright, jeez, all you had to do was ask nicely."
Meeting Derek's innocent smile, Maeve growled under her breath, "I don't want to know. Either i'm going out of my mind or life it's damn well testing me."
Maeve flicked through her reports as she walked into the oddly quiet station, frowning noticing no one stationed at front desk.
Walking further into the station she froze at a pool of blood on the floor, taking a breath, "No. please. Not today."
Abandoning her paperwork on a random desk, Maeve rushed through the station, not surprised at all to hear Stiles' voice.
"All right, so what do we do? Do we just - do we just sit here and wait to die?"
Finding Stiles also meant finding Derek, but Maeve didn't quite expect them to be paralysed on-top of each other.
"Hi, Maeve," Derek greeted, forcing a smile.
Maeve shook her head, kneeling down to roll Stiles off Derek, "I really could strangle you both right now."
Derek rolled his eyes, "Go ahead, I wouldn't feel it."
Maeve flinched as her hand slipped into a small puddle of blood, tracing it back to Dereks thigh, "Derek you're bleeding-"
"Wha - oh, what are you doing? Aw, gross," Stiles whined, trying not to look at the blood.
"It quickens healing," Derek justified.
Stiles and Maeve shared a look, neither of them agreeing with his at statement.
Looking around at the station, Maeve took in the chaos that had gone on, "Let me guess, Kanmia?"
"It's Matt," Stiles informed her, "He's controlling Jackson."
Maeve frowned, "Who the hells Matt?"
"He's in my year - never mind. So is that hypothetical situation we talked about getting any less hypothetical?" Stiles looked to Derek who didn't look any better than he did.
"I think so. I can move my toes," Derek answered, looking to Maeve in amusement as she prodded his foot.
"Did you feel that?"
"Didn't I just say I could feel my toes?"
"Don't act smart with me, i'm the one that can walk."
"Dude, I can move my toes," Stiles grumbled over their bickering.
Maeve jumped as the lights switched off, all the alarms blaring.
"What the hells happening!" Stiles shouted over the sounds of bullets shooting through the windows.
"I don't know!" Maeve coughed as smoke flooded the station, helping Derek up.
Scott sprinted out of the offices, pulling Stiles up at Dereks command, "Take him! Go!"
Once Derek was on his feet Maeve held onto his hand tightly, "What are we gonna do?"

After Derek had impulsively sprinted off to fight Jackson, Maeve was left to damage control.
Turning a corner, she jumped back at the sight of her cousin, "Allison, what are you doing?"
Allison glared at Maeve, her eyes filled with hatred, "Where is he, Maeve?!"
Allison was staring to turn a corner and take Maeve's side with the family, but after what Derek did to Victoria, Allison was blinded by grief and rage.
"I'm not telling you, you look crazy, Allison," Maeve jumped back as Allison pointed her crossbow at her, "Allison! Are you alright? You look manic. What are you doing?"
For the first time in her life, Maeve felt afraid of her cousin, especially with a weapon pointed at her head.
Blinking in shock over the fear in Maeve's eyes, Allison backed away, "Stay out of the way. Just tay out of my way, Maeve!"
Maeve watched Allison walk away, trying to figure out what had changed with her cousin. But instead she followed the shouting, spotting Stiles still paralysed on the ground. Maeve flinched as Matt knocked out Noah, Melissa's terrified scream echoing around.
"How totally clueless are you people?"
"Noah!" Maeve gasped, waiting until Derek distracted Jackson before she could go in.
Stiles stared at her in panic, "Maeve help him!"
Derek snarled at Jackson, the two them running at each other, as Derek threw Jackson at a wall, Maeve ran in. Picking up Noah's ams, she pulled him across the room, dodging the fight in the middle of it. Stiles immediately relaxed once his father was at his side.
Noticing Derek loosing ( surprise surprise ) Maeve ran forward, picking up a desk chair and slamming it over Jackson's head, giving Derek enough time to run out whilst Scott took over. Maeve tiredly ran after Derek, sensing it would be a long night.
"Like all of a sudden we heard all this howling. It was unbelievable."
Boyd shared Erica's excitement as they stood in the doorway of the loft, "There must have been a dozen of them."
"Maybe more," Erica added.
Maeve looked to Derek suspiciously, as he stepped towards his betas. When the betas announced they were leaving it took Maeve by surprise, they hadn't even leant everything they needed to know about being a wolf, they'd only had one full moon.
"Yeah, or maybe only two. You know what the Beau Geste effect is? If they modulate their howls with a rapid shift in tone, 2 wolves can sound like 20," Derek argued.
"Look that doesn't matter, okay? There's another pack out there. There's got to be. We've made up our minds," Erica told him stubbornly.
Putting his hand on Erica's shoulder, Boyd turned to the door, "Yeah, we lost, Derek. And it's over. We're leaving."
"No. No, you're running. And once you start, you don't stop. You'll always be running," Derek warned, "Said goodbye to Dean then, Erica?"
Erica froze at the mention of her boyfriend, looking to the floor guiltily before rushing after Boyd.
Maeve shook her head in disbelief, "Dean's not going to take that well..."
Derek didn't reply, picking up a book from his desk and throwing it at the door, where Peter caught it effortlessly.
"I expected a slightly warmer welcome. But point taken."
Maeve groaned at the sound of his voice, "What part of 'get lost' don't you get?"
"It's quite a situation you've got yourself in here, Derek," Peter strolled into the room, "I mean, I'm out of commission for a few weeks and suddenly there's lizard people, geriatric psychopaths, and you're cooking up werewolves out of every self - esteem deprived adolescent in town. And you still haven't told poor Maeve you're still in love with her!"
Maeve found herself blushing yet again, choosing to look out of the lofts window and ignore the conversation.
Derek ignored his taunts, "What do you want?"
"Well, I want to help. You're my nephew. Kieran, Maeve, Luna - The only relatives that I have left," Peter answered.
"That you haven't killed?" Maeve retorted, standing from the couch.
Peter rolled his eyes, turning to Derek, "You know, there's still a lot that I can teach you. Can we just talk?"
"Sure. Let's talk," Derek began, approaching his uncle.
Sensing another fight, Maeve caught his arm before Derek could punch Peter, "No- I think Peter and I are due a chat. Could you check on Lu?"
Derek nodded, reluctantly leaving, looking between them both suspiciously before he left.
"Alright then, Diana, have at it," Peter held out his arms in surrender, "Tell me what's on your mind."
"I have tried to understand what happened that night for you to kill Laura, I've tried," Maeve began, "The Peter I knew would've died before he hurt one of his own. Died! How do you expect us to welcome you back with open arms when you're not the Peter we knew? How can we know you wont hurt one of us?"
"Maeve-"
"You killed Laura just for power, is it Derek next? Me? Luna?" Maeve shouted, "Now there must be seriously something wrong with you for you to make the decision to do what you did, and unless you explain it to me you will not be in our lives. Are you sick? Did the fire do something to you?"
Peter tried to reign in his anger, "I spent six years plotting revenge on the argents! Six! Six years going insane in my own mind, left to nothing but pain and my own thoughts. I lost track of the days, I couldn't even recognise my own mind, hell, I didn't even know if I were alive! When I healed I was so consumed by rage I didn't even know it was Laura!"
Maeve flinched, "What do you mean you didn't know it was Laura?"
"I mean, I was so consumed by rage, revenge and some messed up trauma that it could've been anyone out there! It could've been you for all I knew! All I sensed was power! And you know what Maeve, I was disgusted with myself when I realised what I did. I couldn't hate myself anymore than you do!"
Maeve gasped, tears filling her eyes, "Then why- Scott, you turned an innocent child! Why didn't you tell us the truth? Why start some elaborate revenge plot on your family. We would've understood! You should've just told us."
"Because it was easier to become a terrible person rather than accept what I'd done," Peter admitted, avoiding Maeve's gaze "I am still a terrible person, but I can't pretend to be some evil person - because I know i'm not. I'm sick, Maeve. Those years - they screwed me up, alright? It's like one second I'm me and the next I'm just this - this monster."
Maeve let her tears run, rushing forward to hug him, "Peter- we're going to help you, i'm gonna help you, okay? You're gonna get better."
So Peter cried. Cried of relief. Cried of guilt. Cried of tiredness. He just cried.
