Derek unzipped the body bag Jackson was currently being stored in, Scott stopping him in protest, "Whoa, hold on a second. You said you knew how to save him-"
"We're past that," Derek cut him off.
"What about -" Scott exclaimed, this time being silenced by Maeve opening the warehouse door with a slam.
"I'm here!" Maeve gasped, rushing over to the group, "I'm here!"
Derek held back his laugh as she hurried over, obviously just finishing her shift. Peter on the other hand had no problem rolling his eyes.
"Think about it, Scott. Gerard controls him now. He's turned Jackson into his own personal guard dog. And he set all of this in motion so that Jackson could get even bigger and more powerful," Derek argued.
"No," Maeve blinked in surprise at her uncles presence, "No, he wouldn't do that. If Jackson's a dog, he's turning rabid, and my father wouldn't let a rabid dog live."
"Of course not," Maeve felt her blood run cold at Gerard's voice, " Anything that dangerous, that out of control... Is better off dead."
Derek went to swipe at Jackson's throat, but Jackson suddenly woke, digging his claws into Derek's stomach. Maeve gasped, freezing in shock as Jackson lifted Derek up into the air.
Maeve wanted to cry, somehow, despite Derek getting hurt way to often, Maeve couldn't get used to seeing it happen without her entire heart screaming.
Isaac held onto Maeve's arm, the detective smiled at him nervously, jumping back as Derek was suddenly tossed across the room.
"Well done to the last, Scott. Like the concerned friend you are, you brought Jackson to Derek to save him. You just didn't realise that you were also bringing Derek and Maeve to me."
Peter's eyes flashed protectively over at Maeve, Chris' sudden intake of breath told Maeve he knew nothing of this. Isaac pushed Maeve behind him, and just as she'd moved, an arrow flew over, shooting Isaac in the shoulder.
"Isaac!"
Maeve rushed to help Isaac down to the ground, not noticing her cousins presence, too occupied with pulling the arrow from Isaac's shoulder. A full battle broke out by the time Maeve had gotten Isaac up, and for the first time in ages, Maeve fully transformed, joining them in fighting back.
Maeve winced as Jackson threw her against another wall, looking through her shaky vision to check Derek was okay. Chris caught her before she stumbled.
Glancing up at her uncle, Maeve smiled, "Thanks."
"Allison!"
Maeve whirled around, stumbling forward in shock at Allison standing over Derek, a knife pointed at him. This time it was Peter to step forward and hold her back.
"Not yet, sweetheart." Gerard called over to his granddaughter, Maeve and Chris tensing as Jackson grabbed onto Allison's neck.
"What are you doing?" Allison cried, struggling in Jackson's hold.
"He's doing what he came here to do," Scott realised.
"Then you know," Gerard replied.
"What's he talking about?" Allison looked around in confusion, only to be met with confused faces.
"It was the night outside the hospital, wasn't it, when I threatened your mother. I knew I saw something in your eyes. You could just smell it, couldn't you?"
"He's dying," Isaac realised, Maeve and Derek looked to each other in complete confusion.
The thought of Gerard dying made Maeve smile, in some stick twisted revenge type way. She knew it was what he deserved.
"I am. I have been for a while now. Unfortunately, science doesn't have a cure for cancer yet. But the supernatural does." Gerard smirked at Derek.
"You monster," Chris stated, glaring at his father.
Chris had known all along what his father had been, hurting Maeve was one thing, but now Luna and Allison, it was a pattern Chris couldn't ignore anymore.
"Not yet..." Gerard teased.
"What are you doing?" Allison cried harder.
Chris stepped closer to Allison, seething, "You'll kill her too?"
"When it comes to survival, I'd kill my own son!" Gerard shouted, "Scott?"
Tears blurred Maeve's vision as Scott pulled a paralysed Derek towards Gerard. It was a loosing battle, there was no chance of her fighting back and coming out alive.
"Scott, don't! You know that he's gonna kill me right after. He'll be an Alpha!" Derek shouted through the pain.
"That's true. But I think he already knows that, don't you, Scott? He knows that the ultimate prize is Allison. Do this small task for me, and they can be together. You are the only piece that doesn't fit, Derek. And I'm sure you know very well, there is just no competing with young love," Gerard taunted, "You learnt that lesson already, haven't you Maeve?"
"Scott, don't! Don't!" Derek struggled in Scott's arms, his gaze meeting Maeve's.
"I'm sorry. But I have to," Scott held Gerard's arm over Derek, forcing the alpha to bite into it.
The room fell silent as Gerard cried out in pain, Maeve rushed forward pulling Derek away from her grandfather.
"What the -" Peter's eyes widened as Gerad stumbled back.
"What? What is this? What did you do?" Gerard hissed, noticing the black blood seeping from the bite.
"Everyone said Gerard always had a plan. I had a plan too," Scott smirked proudly.
"No. No!" Gerard cried in defeat, dropping to the ground along with his pills, "Mountain ash!"
Maeve held Derek up in her arms with the help of Isaac, leaning against Derek's shoulder as they watched Gerard face his consequences.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Derek turned to Scott in betrayal, pulling Maeve closer as he regained feeling in his arms.
"Because you might be an Alpha, but you're not mine," Scott glared.
Maeve didn't pay attention to the conflict between Scott and Derek, she was too busy glaring smugly at her grandfather, watching him suffer without an ounce of sympathy.
Sharing another look with her uncle, Maeve could only hope things would return to normal with them, but with Allison out for Derek's throat, it might not be so simple.
As Gerard crawled away from the aftermath, coughing and spluttering over his own black blood. He was met with a pair of leather boots, shakily pulling himself to look who stood before him.
"Hello dear," Lorraine smirked, enjoying the look of fear in Gerard's eyes before swiftly knocking him out.
Nobody hurts her granddaughters and gets away with it.
—
"Who gets married with a week's notice?"
Maeve shared a smile with Derek as she parked the car in front of Jamie's house, "Jamie does."
Jamie, who had spent the last month galavanting around the country with his girlfriend, Amara, returned with a new outlook on life and decided that marriage would be their next step. Maeve had been ecstatic over the news, but it all changed when Jamie decided the wedding would be taking place two weeks from then.
"Reckon he's knocked her up?" Dean suggested, helping Luna out out of her carseat.
Maeve gasped, "Dean!"
"What?" Dean burst into laughter as Maeve turned to look at him, "Christ, you look like a lunatic shouting with your hair like that."
In full glam, hair in rollers and in a dressing gown, Maeve was certainly a sight. Derek didn't quite know how to greet Maeve that morning, ending up laughing as a roller fell off her head.
"They don't care for things like that, if Mara was pregnant i'm sure the whole world would know about it," Derek added before an argument started.
Maeve glanced between Peter and Dean, "You both will behave, won't you?"
The decision to bring Peter to the wedding was a mix of Jamie missing his childhood friend and Maeve overthinking wanting him in sight, as Derek would say, she was coddling.
"We're not children, Maeve," Peter grumbled, glaring at his nephew as Derek went to disagree.
"And don't taunt Scott and Stiles," Maeve told them strictly, eyeing Peter, "Especially you."
Peter held his hands up in surrender, "I come in peace."
Gathered in Jamie's childhood bedroom, the groomsmen were all ready to go, but Jamie was fashionably like, but thankfully for them so was his future wife.
Derek pulled back the curtain, looking down into the gardens, "Just how many people did you invite?"
Jamie grinned, "Not all of us are hermits, Derbear."
Archie smiled at the affronted look on Derek's face, insults on Derek's social life always took him off guard unless it was Maeve teasing him.
"Right," Jamie suddenly grew serious, "Weddings are happy days, Derek."
Derek nodded slowly, "I am aware. I have been married."
"And no one wants the groomsmen looking miserable, so put a smile on your face. If you can't manage that, just look at Maeve," Jamie negotiated, doing up his tie, "Weddings are just so romantic... Maeve loves cliche crap like that."
Derek rolled his eyes, sharing a knowing look with Archie, "He's not subtle at all, is he?"
"I think you kissing Maeve would be better than any wedding gift money could buy," Jamie concluded, "Yes! That's what I want as a gift. For you to kiss Maeve."
"Think you'd all need earplugs to block out Maeve screaming at me if I ever kissed her," Derek pointed out with a frown.
Archie shrugged, "Don't be so sure."
"We both know Maeve better than anyone, you think she wouldn't raise the dead if I kissed her without permission?" Derek asked him, "The same woman who pushes you off a sofa if you touch her food."
Jamie grinned, causing Derek to look at him suspiciously, "Maybe she'd give you permission."
The bedroom door opened, and a ten year old who looked like he wanted to be in anything other than a suit stepped in.
"Sammy my buddy!" Jamie greeted, "Don't you look snazzy."
Samuel Deaton pouted at his big brother, tugging at his unusually tamed curls, "I look stupid."
Archie laughed, "Its a suit not a straight jacket, Sammy."
Rocking back and forth on his converse, because you'd have to raise hell before you'd get Samuel in anything other than trainers, Samuel sighed, "I look kinda cool I guess..."
"Thats the spirit!"
—
With the bridal party, Maeve had been a complete hypocrite and asked Amara as soon as she walked through the door if she were pregnant.
"Are you sure you're not pregnant?"
"Gosh! Maeve, i'm not knocked up," Amara exclaimed, eyeing Maeve in amusement, "And you can't talk, you were pregnant when you got married."
"I didn't know I was pregnant when I was married," Maeve argued, helping Amara step into her shoes.
"Its just quite sudden, isn't it?" Jazz called over from the bathroom, helping Luna and Suzie finish getting ready.
"Jamie and I figured we didn't want to wait," Amara stated with a smile, "I love him, he loves me. And before you say another word Diana Maeve, I've been dating Jamie far longer than you did when you married Derek."
Maeve rolled her eyes, "Is this criticise Maeve day?"
"That would require us being unsupportive of you marrying Derek, which we're not," Jazz argued, walking out of the bathroom with the flower girls.
Suzie and Luna gave a twirl in their poofy bridesmaid dresses, Suzie stayed by her mother whilst Luna ran over to Maeve.
"Wow! Look at you both!" Maeve gasped, picking up Luna who was still wearing her now fully signed cast.
"I look like an orange," Luna muttered with a scowl, "An orange, mommy."
Maeve stared at her sternly, "You look lovely, this is Mara and Uncle Jamie's day, and they chose your dress."
"Doesn't make me any less orange."
"Luna."
Many dramatics later and the wedding was finally on the move, Luna and Suzie making their way down the aisle arm in arm first.
Stood beside Jamie at the alter, him and Archie being joint best men, Derek smiled watching Luna throw petals onto the floor. It never failed to amaze Derek how much Luna looked like her mother. It also saddened him to think his little girl was growing up, but if that meant her growing tone anything like her mother then Derek couldn't complain.
Jamie's parents garden was filled with guests, even the sheriff, Scott and Stiles were in attendance - both completely baffled by Derek appearing like a normal human being.
Sammy was next down the aisle holding onto the rings, blushing at all the attention as he reached the alter, practically running to stand next to Luna and Suzie.
Luna gaped at the older boy, whispering, "What did you do to your hair?! Its flat!"
Sammy sighed, "Please don't remind me."
Peter, sat between Lorraine and Elizabeth, who were his designated caretakers, rolled his eyes at the conversation whispering around him.
"Hmm, tacky," Lorraine muttered, staring at the flowers.
"Mother!" Elizabeth gasped, "I can't believe you sometimes."
Peter left them to their bickering, watching Maeve's friend, Jazz, walk down the aisle, smiling at the woman as she noticed him whilst scanning the crowds.
Maeve was next to walk down the aisle, and Derek was positive that he felt himself stop breathing at the sight of her. She looked stunning, of course the maid of honour wasn't supposed to upstage the bride, but in Derek's eyes no one could hold a candle to Maeve.
Maeve silently chanted not to trip in her head, staring straight ahead, and just her look she spotted Derek, throwing her entirely off course. Derek in a suit had always been her biggest weakness, and apparently still was. Maeve met Derek's gaze, smiling to cover up the blush and praying that nobody noticed her swoon over him.
The music picked up and Amara and her father made their way down the aisle, Jamie smiling stupidly at his future wife. But as they stood at the alter, all Maeve and Derek could focus on was each other.
Naturally at Jamie's wedding the party would be a priority, and it was in full swing. Elizabeth, who was on Luna duty, watched her granddaughter in the crowds in amusement.
Luna and Stiles were dancing competitively in their own corner of the floor, busting out moves that Elizabeth was certain would result in an injury. Beside them Suzie had stolen Scott from his place hiding with Dean and dragged him to dance with Luna and Stiles.
"Allison got some competition?" Dean teased, him, Sam and Benji happily lounging at the tables with a full plate of food.
Scott glared at his classmate, holding hands with a grinning Suzie, twirling them around, "Shove off, Dean!"
As Stiles stumbled over to the table, wheezing, Luna skipped after him, setting her gaze on Sam, who panicked at the look on her face.
"No! No way, Luna!"
Taking the plate from his hands, Luna pouted at her friend, "Please, Sammy!"
Sam sighed in defeat, letting Luna drag him over to the dance floor, listening to her instructions on how to dance like the adults along to a slow song.
"You're supposed to hold my hand."
"Is that allowed? Derek might kill me."
Thankfully, Derek's attention was else where. Seeing his daughter dancing with a boy might just send him into shock.
Derek approached Maeve as she finished her dance with Archie, laughing as Lorraine swept away her terrified looking friend, "Dance with me?"
Maeve smiled taking his hand, trying not to embarrass herself as he put his hand on her waist, "So, you're smiley today."
"Bet you never thought you'd say that," Derek chuckled as they swayed to the music, "I'm under strict orders to look happy until I leave the building."
"You poor thing," Maeve giggled, "I bet you just can't wait to scowl all the way home."
Derek laughed, twirling her around, "How'd you know?"
Derek battled with his own mind, he knew now was the perfect time to tell her how he felt, he just couldn't muster up the courage. Just say it, he scolded himself, since when were you such a wimp?
Across the room, Peter didn't fail with his self confidence, approaching Jazz by the bar.
"So you're the one who replaced me as Maeve's best friend."
Jazz turned to Peter, eyebrows raised in amusement, "Replaced? I think came to her senses is a better way of putting it."
"I'll pretend I'm not offended by that," Peter chuckled, "Its Jasmine, right?"
Jazz waved him off, "Please call me Jazz."
"Well, Jazz, I'm Peter," Peter smiled, holding out his hand, "Would you like to dance?"
Taking his hand, Jazz grinned, "I most certainly would."
"So how'd you meet Maeve?" Peter questioned, winking at Maeve who almost tripped over Derek's feet spotting him and Jazz dancing.
"She arrested my ex husband," Jazz answered bluntly, "It was quite the drama."
"Really? interesting," Peter hummed.
"Thats one way to look at it," Jazz laughed.
Across the room, Jazz's son watched the interaction with a scowl.
"Dude, is that Derek's uncle dancing with my mom?" Benji groaned, "Oh god she's laughing."
Dean grinned tauntingly, "Don't want a new step dad, Benji?"
Derek, who scrambled for whatever courage he had left, finally spoke up.
"Maeve," Derek began, causing Maeve to look up at him in worry, "I know you wanted us to be friends. But you need to know. I still love you."
Maeve froze, blinking in shock as her mind went into panic. Derek telling her he loved her was not what she needed. Not when she'd barley came to the conclusion that she too was still very much in love with him.
"I'm in love with you," Derek told her, his voice shaking nervously, "I can't pretend I'm not anymore."
Maeve fell silent, her mouth parted in shock. Somehow, despite everyone telling her all the time how much Derek loved her, actually hearing it was a burst of emotions she hadn't felt in a long while.
Derek slowed down their movements, thankfully the song was just ending, "Maeve?"
"I can't to this," Maeve breathed shakily, letting go of Derek's hand and hurrying out of the marquee.
Luna, mid twirl, spotted her mother rushing away and her father not far behind, sharing a nervous look with Sam, "Uh oh."
Maeve welcomed the cold air as she walked through Jamie's stepmothers flower garden, pushing open an ivory covered gate, focusing on the roses surrounding her and she tried to steady her breathing.
Derek loosened his tie as he jogged through the gardens, walking under the floral archway and through the gate, "Maeve!"
Maeve turned around to face him, her heartbeat rising at the determined look on his face. Scolding herself for yet again getting distracted by his appearance in the suit.
"I know you hate me for saying it," Derek sighed, stepping towards her, "But it's the truth. I love you."
Maeve looked away, but Derek gently caught her arm, pulling her back. Maeve met Derek's gaze briefly before he closed the gap between them, leaning down to kiss her.
The tension in Maeve's body disappeared, reaching up to kiss him back, all her previous worries fading for just that moment.
She missed kissing Derek. And then it all hit her. She missed being with Derek, she missed laughing with him, she missed loving him, she missed everything about him.
If it weren't for the lack of air, Derek was sure he could've kissed her for forever.
Pulling away, his hands rested on her cheeks, their faces barely inches apart as he whispered, "Tell me that didn't mean anything to you."
Blinking out of her trance, Maeve quickly became aware of her surroundings, blushing furiously as she stepped back, "I'm not doing this here, there's too many people. Meet me at home. I'll go say bye."
Derek felt his heart drop. That meant she was going to shout at him, he was sure of it. Sighing defeatedly, Derek nodded, watching Maeve hurry back to the party.
He couldn't say he didn't try.
Maeve cursed the heels on her feet as she walked across the gravel, jumping as Archie spoke up from behind her, "Whats with the red face?"
"God! Don't do that arch," Maeve breathed heavily, her blush refusing to go away.
"Derek told you then?" Archie smiled knowingly, Maeve nodded, "Give him a chance, Maeve."
Tears gathered in Maeve's eyes, Archie smiled sympathetically at her.
"I know he hurt you, but he's not the same guy anymore," Archie hugged her, letting her cry, "He really loves you."
Maeve nodded, wiping away her tears, "Thanks Arch."
Elizabeth and Luna met Maeve at the edge of the dance floor, Elizabeth frowning at her daughters appearance, "What's going on?"
Luna frowned, hugging her mothers legs, "Have you been crying, mommy?"
"I'm fine baby," Maeve kissed the top of her head, "Mommy and daddy just had a talk thats all. Can you stay with nana I need to go find your dad?"
Elizabeth coughed, trying to shield her joy over her suspicions, but Maeve rolled her eyes, walking back out of the marquee, "You can start the victory dance once I've left the building!"
"I'm confused," Luna frowned, "What's going on?"
Elizabeth couldn't hold back her grin, "I think your dad told your mom a secret."
"What type of secret?" Luna questioned.
"An important type of secret," Elizabeth answered.
"Like the secret you need to tell grandpa secret?" Luna wondered, grinning at Lorraine before running back to dance.
Elizabeth watched Luna in surprise, there was no secret Luna was her mothers daughter, and unluckily for Elizabeth, Noah had come to join her.
"Maeve went home," Elizabeth told him, taking a large gulp of her champagne.
Noah frowned in concern, "What? Is Maeve alright?"
"I think her and Derek argued," Elizabeth replied, "Something along the lines of that."
"Is she alright?" Noah worried.
"I'm sure she will be," Elizabeth answered hopefully, laughing at Luna's efforts to drag Dean onto the dance floor.
Noah followed her gaze to Luna, smiling at her, "She must be confused with all of this."
"She's smarter than we think," Elizabeth stated, albeit a little spitefully.
"Well she is Maeve's daughter," Noah shrugged, watching Elizabeth's smile drop, "Liz, what's wrong?"
"Maeve's your daughter," Elizabeth blurted, eyes widened at what she just said, taking another gulp of her drink, "I lied. She's yours."
Noah could barley speak through the shock, "What? You knew all these years that she was mine? And you never told me?"
Noah had always suspected, there was always a sinking feeling that Maeve was his, but actually hearing those words sent the world around him crashing down.
"Not all of them," Elizabeth winced at his anger.
"When?" Noah questioned harshly.
Elizabeth avoided his gaze, "The fire."
"Seven years?" Noah exclaimed, looking around to check he hadn't drawn attention to them.
Elizabeth waved Luna over, "I need to get her to bed its late."
"Liz!" Noah sighed in frustration, "Can I come?"
Elizabeth nodded hesitantly, taking Luna's hand before she could run off again.
"Stiles!" Noah beckoned his son over.
Luna grinned up at the sheriff, "Are you coming over grandpa?"
That word had a whole new meaning, and it felt good.
Noah smiled, still dazed, "I would love to."
Noah sat by Luna's bed in Elizabeth's apartment, reading her a bedtime story. He had just wrapped his head around having a daughter on the drive home, but now he had to come to the realisation that his child had a child.
Closing the book, Noah switched off the nightlight, "Night Lu."
"Don't be mad at Nana," Luna mumbled sleepily,"She was scared to tell you her secret."
Standing in the doorway of Luna's room, Noah wondered how he missed it. All the similarities between him, Maeve and Stiles came to light, he felt so stupid. Then there was Stiles and Luna, who as children were almost the male and female versions of each other, both hyperactive, clumsy and annoyingly intelligent.
"Night sweetheart," Noah told her quietly.
"Night grandpa," Luna mumbled back into her pillow.
Stepping out into the hall, Noah sighed at the sight of Elizabeth nervously pacing up and down, "I'm so sorry, Noah. I know, I should've told you earlier -"
"Why didn't you tell me?" Noah questioned softly, "Was is the alcohol? Did I do something?"
"When we divorced I found out I was pregnant a month after," Elizabeth began, "After everything we went through, I focused on Maeve, and truthfully I didn't know you were her father, after the rebound I went through there were many options as much as I hate to admit it. Then I came back and you were married with Stiles, I couldn't ruin that for you. Then Claudia died and you started getting bad again, I couldn't do anything else to throw you off."
Noah listened intently, "I found out when you gave Maeve blood the night of the fire. When Maeve nearly died and I had to help her heal, then then the bombshell of her being a teenage mother outshined you being her father for a slight moment."
Noah rubbed his temples tiredly, "It's been six years, why now?"
"I've watched Maeve and Derek tip toe around each other for the past year avoiding their feelings, keeping secrets," Elizabeth explained, "I feel responsible, I'm doing the act same thing. Maybe if I'd confessed earlier Maeve would knew to deal with her problems instead of running away."
Hearing a crash from the other room, Noah groaned, "Oh stiles, he's going to flip."
"He loves Maeve," Elizabeth sympathised.
"It's not that, he doesn't know I was married before Claudia," Noah muttered, "Looks like the both of us kept secrets, hey?"
"You have to tell him," Elizabeth pointed out, the two of them walking to find Stiles, "yes I know, how hypocritical of me."
Stiles plonked himself down on the sofa, looking between the nervous adults in front of him, "Dad? Everything okay?"
"We need to have a talk," Noah started.
Stiles held his hands up, "I haven't done anything. I swear!"
"Before I met your mother," Noah continued, glancing to his ex wife, "I was married. To liz."
Stiles sunk back into the sofa, his gaze flickering between them as he shouted, "What?!"
"Technically my last name is still Stilinski," Elizabeth added.
"This is why you were close to Maeve, because she's your ex wife's kid," Stiles concluded, looking to Elizabeth, "And you were always chatty with dad. I always thought you two had some weird tension."
"Stiles..." Noah pushed aside his sons comments for another time,"Maeve is my kid."
"What?" Stiles squeaked, sitting up, "Maeve's my sister? As in biologically related? Same DNA?"
Maeve had always been Stiles sister in his opinion, just not biologically. But hearing that she actually was, Stiles felt like he'd gotten another concussion.
Rolling his eyes at Stiles' blabbering, Noah answered, "Yes."
"Does - does Maeve know?" Stiles frowned, "She would've told me, she can't keep secrets with me, she says its her biggest weakness."
"Maeve doesn't know, and that's a conversation Maeve, Liz and I need to have," Noah replied, looking to Elizabeth pointedly.
"Why are you only telling me now?" Stiles frowned.
"When I was with liz I was in a dark place, a lot like after your mother passed," Noah informed him, "I'm not proud of the person I was back then, I made some questionable decisions. Over tine I'll tell you about it, but all you need to know is that Maeve is your sister."
Taking that as a cue for the conversation coming to an end, Stiles grinned, "I always said Luna had my nose."
"And your hyper-ness," Elizabeth grumbled, sitting down with a sigh.
"Are you my stepmom? Do I still have to call you Ms Argent at school?" Stiles blubbered, eyes widening dramatically, "Oh god Allisons my cousin! Scott's going to die. He's actually going to die."
Noah chuckled, sitting down, "We're divorced, Stiles, you don't have to worry. Everything will stay the same."
"Okay grandad," Stiles teased.
"Stop it," Noah complained, Elizabeth humming in agreement, "Neither of us are old enough to be grandparents."
"I mean you are now," Stiles pointed out.
"I can still ground you," Noah glared.
Stiles let out a cry that was painful to the ears, "Oh my god! Derek's my brother in law. Derek! Hale! We're family! No! This day couldn't get any worse!"
—
Derek stood up as Maeve walked into his loft, an awkward silence lingering around the room as she dropped her bag by the door, crossing her arms as she walked down the steps.
"So..." Maeve trailed off, smiling nervously at Derek.
Derek let go of the breath he was holding, maybe Maeve wouldn't shout at him...
"I'm still in love with you," Derek told her, more confident this time, "Seeing you with Jake, it almost killed me."
"You love me now, you loved me then," Maeve frowned, biting at her lip, "what's stopping you leaving again when you feel like it?"
"But I never stopped loving you, I left because I loved you," Derek explained, "I was in a horrible place, Maeve, I couldn't hurt you anymore. I couldn't watch myself hurt you. You're my family, Maeve. You're my everything...Maeve, do you still love me?"
Maeve wanted to run and avoid her emotions, she was truly terrified of what would happen if she admitted her feelings. But Derek was worth it. She'd waited long enough.
"I-" Maeve stuttered closing her eyes, taking a deep breath, "I still love you. I still love you, god I'm so angry at you, but I love you, Derek."
Derek froze, reeling in the shock of her loving him back, but his ex wife didn't care.
Rushing forward, Maeve's hands went to the sides of Derek's face, pulling him forward as she smashed her lips against his. Dereks hand curled around her waist, dragging Maeve close.
Hungrily kissing back, Derek tightly wrapped both arms around her waist, Maeve's hands reaching up to run through his hair, their kiss growing more passionate by the second.
Dereks back hit the desk as he stumbled back, holding Maeve gently in his arms, yet with a passion that he hadn't held her with in over a year.
Pulling back for a breath, Maeve lent her forehead against his, speaking in barely a whisper, "Derek?"
Hands resting at the bottom of her back, leaning down to curl around the hem of her dress, Derek gazed down at her apprehensively, "We're really doing this again?"
Maeve didn't even hesitate, unbuttoning his shirt, "yes."
Derek spun her around, moving to allow Maeve to lean against the desk. Tugging Derek's shirt off, Maeve trailed kisses down his chest, moving up against the desk as Derek unzipped the back of her dress.
As she stood up to unbuckle Derek's belt, Maeve's dress fell to the floor. Sliding his hands under her thighs, Derek lifted Maeve up, the blonde wrapping her legs around his waist.
Stepping back from the desk, Derek carried a laughing Maeve across the room, lowering her down onto his bed as he shuffled out of his jeans.
"Still think I need to go to the gym?" Derek smirked teasingly,
"Shut up," Maeve rolled her eyes, silencing him with a kiss.
