                    "So kanimas are giant lizards?"
"No - well, yes."
Noah blinked slowly down at the PowerPoint Stiles and Maeve had put together, it was artfully done, he gave them that, but it probably wasn't the best way to spend Maeve's maternity leave.
Stiles had taken up watching over Maeve, despite unnecessary, whilst Derek was gone. Whilst Maeve reminded her brother that Derek hadn't just disappeared off the face of the world, Stiles still acted like Derek was a missing person.
Maeve and Stiles shared an exasperated look as Noah continued, "And alpha packs? I thought you had one alpha. Derek's your alpha. And what does refer to page 10 on toenails mean?"
"Okay, maybe this was a bad way of explaining things," Maeve interrupted, "Crazy as it all sounds, it's all pretty much true."
Noah frowned, "Pretty much true?"
"We're not quite sure if Deaton's a wizard yet," Stiles added awkwardly.
Noah sat back on the couch, holding his head in his hands, "The town vet is a witch?"
"Emissary," Maeve corrected causing Noah to look at her blankly.
"Witch," Stiles argued, "Wait, wouldn't he be a wizard?"
"He's not a witch!" Maeve exclaimed, glaring at Stiles irritably, "Or a freaking Wizard!"
Noah held his arm out as a barrier between the siblings, "Alright, I got it! Maeve, your blood pressure. Stiles, don't irritate your sister."
Maeve and Stiles both sat back with matching scowls, Noah sighed as he shook his head, whilst they weren't children anymore they certainly could act like it.

"Having bonding time with our niece does not include boy hunting, Laura," Cora scolded, sitting beside Luna as they munched on a cone of ice-cream each.
With Kieran and Dean away with Derek, Laura, in a jealous rant, decided a girls day was the only way to not feel left out. Now Cora and Luna realised their mistake in agreeing.
Laura carefully scanned the park, her gaze settling on a group of guys jogging, "I am merely observing, Cora."
"Auntie Laura can never get a boyfriend," Luna told Cora in a whisper, "There was uncle Jamie, but he got married to auntie Mara."
Cora had no issues settling back in with her family, Luna was a surprising addition but one welcomed with open arms.
Laura glared at the two of them, "I can get a boyfriend! Not that I need one, I am an independent woman."
Luna and Cora rolled their eyes knowingly as Laura continued, "In fact, I won't get a boyfriend for a year. That'll show you!"
"Laura you have to actually be able to get a boyfriend to prove that," Cora frowned.
Laura glared at her sister, stomping off towards the ice-cream van with a huff.
Looking down at her niece, Cora sighed, "Don't tell me you want to talk boys as well?"
"I'm seven," Luna shrugged.
"You don't have any crushes?" Cora questioned, Luna shook her head, "Well that's good, saves your dad from having heart failure."
The entire Hale family excitedly waited for the day Luna got her first boyfriend, just to see Derek's reaction. Maeve was certain there was another betting pool floating around between the family.
Turning back to Laura, they found her a blushing mess next to the group of dads by the playground.
Standing up with a huff, Cora grumbled, "She's worse than Kieran, and I thought that was impossible."
Standing up to follow Cora, Luna stumbled on her bright yellow trainers, blinking furiously as she suddenly became dizzy. Cora turned around as she noticed Luna not at her side.
"Lu?" Cora called over, gasping as Luna fell down onto the grass, coughing painfully, "Luna!"
Laura whirled around as she spotted Luna fall, sprinting over as Luna threw up onto the grass, passing out as she hit the ground. The sisters looked to each other in shock, frightened beyond belief.
—
Derek looked exhausted as he stepped into the hospital room, spotting Maeve sat at Luna's beside, "Maeve?"
Maeve tearfully looked up at her husband, Derek quickly made his way across the room, pulling her into his arms, "How bad is it?"
"They don't know what's wrong with her," Maeve sighed, leaning her head against his shoulder "They've been running tests all afternoon."
Derek hesitantly looked down at Luna's pale face, "What about what we know?"
The good thing about werewolves, especially when they are children, is that they rarely get sick. Derek and Maeve never had too worry about Luna being sick, but recently things had started to point otherwise and it was terrifying.
"Poison," Maeve answered, "We're guessing. Your moms with Alan looking for a possible match."
Derek breathed heavily as he sat down on the chair beside Maeve, "Alpha pack?"
"Most likely," Maeve nodded weakly.
"Dad?" Luna croaked, her eyes flickering open.
"Hey. Hey, I'm here," Derek moved to help her sit up, holding Luna gently in his arms.
"Drink some water," Maeve picked up a cup of water from the counter, holding it to Luna's lips.
Luna tiredly gulped down the water, asking in a whisper, "What's wrong me?"
"We don't know. But you're going to be alright, okay?" Derek comforted, sitting back as Luna swiftly fell back asleep in his arms.
Maeve's gaze turned away from Luna as the door opened, Stiles stepped in, looking pale as a ghost. Maeve stood up in alarm, gripping the armchair to keep her steady.
"Stiles?" Maeve asked hesitantly.
"Dads missing," Stiles breathed heavily, avoiding his sisters broken stare, "She took him."
Derek hugged Luna closer, unable to get up to comfort Maeve. Maeve stared at the ceiling, tears forming in her eyes, she didn't know how much more bad news she could take.
—
Peter gently pressed a damp towel on Luna's head, trying to get her temperature down. Maeve sat at her beside, holding onto Luna's hand. Derek had left a few hours earlier to help the pack try and trick Jennifer into telling the truth.
"Hey, anyone want to tell me when they're getting my niece out of here?" Peter shouted into the busy hallway.
"Sorry, but she wasn't, uh... You're supposed to be dead," Melissa paused in the doorway, blinking in surprise at Peter.
"I get that a lot actually," Peter answered calmly.
Maeve laughed under her breath but her happiness was short lived as suddenly Luna's monitors started to bleep rapidly. Luna lurched forward with a gasp, turning to throw up black blood into the floor beside Maeve.
Melissa stepped back in shock, still adapting to supernatural ways, black blood was definitely a new one if the look on Maeve and Peters face was to go by.
—
Maeve and Melissa tried to get a weak Luna into her clothes ready to leave, holding her steady as she continued to throw up. Maeve continued to feel more exhausted as Luna grew worse, wishing Derek would be back soon.
Peter watched from the doorway, speaking into his phone, "It's not good. She's in and out of consciousness. She's vomiting up black blood along with one other alarming substance."
"Mistletoe."
Maeve's head snapped over to them at Derek's voice. The pack, Peter, Derek and Stiles especially were trying to keep Maeve out of the loop and cause the least stress for her, given her already high blood pressure they didn't want Maeve going into an early labour.
"How did you know that?" Peter questioned, looking down at his phone to see Derek had hung up.
Maeve stepped away from Luna's side, pausing as Peter called over, "Do not walk out into that hallway, Diana."
"Derek?"
Derek followed the trail of black blood out into the hallway, trying to pick up on any of his family's scent when the doors slammed open, Peter sliding through with a groan. Derek blinked in shock at his uncle laying on the floor.
"We got a problem," Peter told them, looking back into the hallway, "Big problem."
Ethan and Aidens combined wolf howled from the hallway, causing the pack to look at each other in alarm.
"Where's Maeve?" Derek growled hurriedly.
"With Luna," Peter wheezed.
Derek glanced into the corridor to find Luna safe with Maeve before he ran at the twins, the wolves fighting in the hallway, Scott running in soon after.
Stiles spotted Maeve and Luna at the end of the hallway, moving to help Peter up, "Help me."
"Ethan, aiden, stop. You don't know what you're doing!" Scott growled, holding them up against a wall.
Peter lifted Luna into his arms whilst Stiles grabbed onto Maeve's hand, tugging them away from the fight. Jennifer ran past them all into another hallway, the twins spotting her instantly.
"All we want is her!"
—
Maeve and the boys rushed into an operating room, Peter held onto Luna whilst Derek ran behind Maeve, practically using himself as a human shield between her and the twins.
"Don't stop, don't stop!" Derek shouted, running to open the next set of doors, noticing Stiles stop in the middle of the room, "Stiles!"
Stiles whirled around, hitting the twins with his baseball bat that no one had even noticed he'd bought. As soon as the bat came into contact with the twins it shattered to pieces. Looking between the splinters of his bat and the twins, Stiles quickly backed away.
"You idiot!" Maeve growled, dragging him with her into the operating room.
"Where's the big guy?" Peter questioned, setting Luna down on one of the tables.
"He's close," Derek replied, locking the door.
"What about ms Blake?" Stiles asked, Scott shook his head, "What do you mean? What does that mean? Like, she's gone? Scott, are you kidding me!"
"Shh, quiet!" Derek hissed.
"Me be quiet? Me, huh? Are you telling me what to do now?" Stiles approached Derek angrily, "She has mine and Maeve's dad somewhere, tied up, waiting to be ritually sacrificed?"
"Stiles!" Maeve intervened, flinching at the mention of her dad, "Enough!"
Maeve didn't know how to comprehend the thought of her dad being missing ontop of Luna's illness, but knowing her father he'd rather her focus on getting Luna better than him.
"Stiles, they're still out there," Scott stepped between Stiles and Derek, nodding at Maeve who smiled gratefully.
"And... and they want her, right?" Stiles reminded, whirling around to shout at Derek, "Which means now we don't have her either, so my dad is dead and Luna's not getting any better!"
"You think I don't know that?" Derek shouted defensively, relaxing as Maeve grabbed onto his hand, tugging him away from her brother.
"Not yet," Scott chimed in, walking over to Peter and Maeve, "Is she really not healing?"
"She's definitely not getting any better," Peter answered, watching Luna's breathing grow more uneven.
"There has to be something that we can do. We have to help her," Scott said urgently.
"You can't," the pack turned as Jennifer burst through the doors, "Only I can. I can save her, and I can tell you where Sheriff Stilinski is. But there is a pack of alphas in this hospital who want me dead. So I'll help you... but only when I'm out of here and safe. Only then."
Derek pushed one of the operating tables across the room, charging towards Jennifer but Scott jumped in to hold him back, "Derek, wait!"
"She was trying to get out," Derek accused, pointing at Jennifer.
"I was trying to keep from getting killed. You can't blame me for that," Jennifer argued.
Stiles stepped forward beside Luna, "If you want to show you're one of the good guys, then heal her."
"Not until I'm safe," Jennifer bargained.
"I'd like to volunteer a different method of persuasion," Peter smiles slyly, "Let's torture her."
"Works for me," Derek agreed, pulling out of Scotts hold.
"I support that decision," Maeve glared at Jennifer, the woman stepped back fearfully.
Maeve had only hated Kate as much as the woman in front of her, and hormones aside, would probably cheer if Jennifer got killed at any second.
—
"Deucalion doesn't just want an Alpha pack. He wants perfection. That means adding the rarest of alphas to his ranks," Jennifer informed them.
Peter blinked in realisation, "A true Alpha."
"What's that?" Stiles asked with a sigh, not surprised by the mention of another supernatural creature.
"The kind that doesn't have to steal his power from another. One that can rise by the force of his own will," Peter stared at Scott curiously, "Our little Scott."
"It doesn't matter," Scott deflected, turning to Jennifer, "We still need to get her out of here."
"Scott, your mom..." Stiles reminded anxiously.
"My mom said there's one more ambulance coming in 20 minutes. And I don't think we've been here that long, so if we can get down to the garage, get to the last ambulance, we can get out of here," Scott explained.
"The twins aren't gonna let us just walk out," Peter pointed out.
"I'll distract them," Scott said confidently.
"You mean fight them," Derek corrected.
"Whatever I have to do," Scott agreed.
Derek nodded, "I'll help you."
"Um, sorry, but I'm not going anywhere without you, Derek," Jennifer interrupted.
Maeve glared at the woman, "Excuse me?"
"I'll do it," Peter volunteered, "But I'd prefer to be out there with an advantage."
"An advantage like what? You mean like a weapon?" Stiles questioned.
"Something better than a baseball bat."
—
The pack hurriedly rummaged through the cabinets in the operating room, Maeve sat keeping a close eye on Luna.
Stiles held up a defibrillator with a grin, "Hey, wait. What about these?"
"Do you know how to use those?" Derek stopped what he was doing, watching Stiles suspiciously.
"Well, no," Stiles replied, looking at the machine dumbly.
"Put 'em down," Derek told him, Maeve smiled as Stiles quickly tossed the machine away.
"Epinephrine?" Scott suggested holding up a scarily large needle.
Derek looked over his shoulder, spotting the drug, "That's only gonna make him stronger."
"How strong?" Peter asked curiously.
Maeve and Derek shared a knowing look.
Moments later Peter was out of the doors with the needle still stuck in his chest, "All right, boys. Let's rumble!"
As Peter and Scott fought with the twins, Stiles, the Hales and Jennifer hurried out down the hallway.
—
Maeve breathed heavily as they reached the basement, rushing out into the car park. All this running was impossible, she seriously hated being pregnant, therefore she spent the whole time they spent running glaring at the back of Dereks head for getting her this way.
"It's still here!" Stiles pointed to the ambulance, the four of them rushing to the car.
Stiles quickly unlocked the doors, stepping aside for Maeve to climb in whilst Derek lifted Luna onto the bed.
"Derek, over here," the trio paused at Jennifer's voice.
Maeve gripped Derek's hand to stop him from walking, but Derek kissed her before stepping back, whispering, "Stay safe."
Maeve and Stiles shared an uneasy look as Derek walked to join Jennifer. Derek stepped back as he spotted the dead body of a deputy on the ground, glancing back at the ambulance protectively as they approached it.
"Julia," Kali's voice rang out, appearing from behind the ambulance, blooded feet padding against the floor, swirling the ambulance keys in her hand, "It is you."
Maeve and Stiles held their breathes as he quietly reached forward to close the doors, making sure to lock them.
Jennifer stepped to hide behind Derek, "You can't beat her on your own."
"That's why we're gonna run," Derek slowly backed up, at Kalis roar they both sprinted back inside.
Maeve sat forward watching them run inside, "Derek!"
—
"Okay, okay, okay. We're okay. We're all right," Stiles rambled, tapping his feet against the floor.
"You okay?" He turned to Maeve next, his sister looking up from the medicine cabinet she was rummaging through.
"I will be when we can go home," Maeve grumbled, picking up an icepack for his most likely sprained wrist.
Stiles took the icepack gratefully and turned to Luna "How you doing? Wh... why do you look like you're about to throw up?"
Luna blearily looked at her uncle, waking up slowly as she let out a gag.
Maeve sat up in alert, moving back Luna's beside as Stiles sat up, "Because you're going to be sick, a aren't you? Oh, no."
Luna moved to hold the sides of her throat as she gagged, coughing with each breath.
"Luna?" Maeve panicked, rubbing her daughters back soothingly.
"Oh, God. Oh, no, no, no," Stiles exclaimed, "You're choking!"
"What?" Maeve gasped, turning back to Luna as she continued to gasp for a breath.
Before they could do anything to help, Luna let out a big wheeze before coughing out the last bit of mistletoe she'd been poisoned with. Maeve and Stiles fell back in relief, hoping this was a sign in a good direction.
Maeve sat in silence, thinking of all the ways she could kill Kali or whoever poisoned her daughter, thats if her family doesn't beat her to it first. Luna was fast asleep now, hopefully in the clear, most likely going to get a headache with Stiles rambling in her ear.
"You just hold on a little longer, okay? Trust me, if anyone's gonna get us out of this, it's Scott. Can't believe I just said that. You know, I actually used to be the one with the plan. Well, or at least a plan B. Or plan C if your mom doesn't have one. Now I don't know. Now I'm thinking maybe Cora was right. You know, maybe... maybe we are pretty much useless. Maybe all we really do is show up and find the bodies. I don't want to find my father's body. You know, you're a lot easier to talk to when you're completely unconscious. Less mean."
"Stiles..." Maeve rolled her eyes, wincing as one of the babies kicked her stomach.
Stiles' nose scrunched at the sight of her stomach moving through her shirt, "Thats terrifying... its like you've got an alien in there."
Maeve laughed, holding out her hand, "If it looks strange, try feeling it."
"No!" Stiles squeaked, shaking his head as Maeve grabbed his hand "Maeve no, it's weird!"
"Its not weird," Maeve scoffed, placing his hand on her stomach, "Your fears over the human body are weird."
"It is weird!" Stiles flinched as one of the babies kicked against his hand, "Thats a tiny human...inside of you! Do werewolf babies have claws?"
Maeve ignored his question, "You're always full of compliments Stiles."
Maeve and Stiles looked to each other nervously as footsteps suddenly echoed around them, slowly turning to the door. The siblings jumped back as Scotts hand slammed against the window, lugging Peter to the doors.
Maeve groaned, "God! Are you trying to send me into early labour?"
"Stiles! Stiles, open the door!" Scott rushed, hitting the door hurriedly.
Stiles scrambled over to the door, unlocking it, "Sorry!"
"Help me get him in," Stiles held onto the arm Scott wasn't holding, tugging Peter inside.
Peter fell down beside Maeve with a groan, smiling sheepishly at her, "Hi Maeve."
"Idiot," Maeve muttered, "Where's Derek and Jennifer?"
"I have to go back for them and my mom," Scott answered tiredly.
"Okay, two problems. Kali's got the keys to this thing, and I just saw the twins, like, 30 seconds ago," Stiles warned him.
Scott turned at the sound of a crash in the distance, "Stay here."
Peter and Stiles looked to each other as Maeve breathed loudly, "Don't even think about arguing, i've had enough stress for a year."
—
Peter jumped up to unlock the doors as a car sped into the lot, Isaac hurrying over to the ambulance, "All right, come on, come on, come on!"
Peter picked up his niece, lifting her out of the ambulance first, Stiles nervously helping, "I got her. Okay, get the door!"
Isaac opened the door as Maeve climbed out of the ambulance, rushing around to sit in the backseat as Peter placed Luna in beside her.
Stiles' attention remained on the patient notes in the ambulance, going over and over the words parent or guardian, eyes wide with realisation.
"Stiles, let's go!" Isaac shouted from the drivers seat.
Maeve looked up, calling over, "Stiles!"
Stiles suddenly sprinted out of the basement, Maeve lurched forward to go after him but Peter caught her arm, holding her back.
"He'll be fine!" Peter warned, "You're not running off in there! Are you insane? You can't even run!"
"He might get himself hurt!" Maeve protested weakly.
"He's not a baby Maeve, he can take care of himself," Peter argued, "Which you should be doing. Therefore I'm telling you to sit down before you go into labour!"
Maeve looked at Peter sulkily before sitting back, ignoring his dramatic eye roll at her actions.
Peter noticed the car wasn't moving, turning to Isaac irritably, "For the love of god drive!"
"Derek?" Stiles shouted, hitting Derek around the face again, "Derek, come on!"
Stiles curled his hand into a fist, aiming at Dereks face as the alpha woke up, catching Stiles' hand before it could hit him. The two of them looked to each other in disbelief.
Derek looked around the elevator, "Where is she?"
"Jennifer? Gone with Scott's mom," Stiles said, breathing heavily.
"She took her?" Derek questioned.
"Yeah, and if that's not enough of a kick to the balls, Scott left with Deucalion, okay? So we gotta get you out of here. The police are coming right now, and we gotta get you the hell out of here," Stiles answered hurriedly, helping Derek up, "Last thing Maeve needs is you getting arrested again."
"Whoa," Derek paused, "What about Luna? Maeve?"
—
Isaac pulled up abruptly outside of the hospital, looking around, "You see the twins?"
"No. But I see the Argents," Peter muttered unhappily.
Maeve looked up to see her uncle and Allison rushing out from behind an ambulance.
They paused as a howl echoed around their surroundings, Allison frowned, "What is it?"
"A retreat," Chris replied vaguely.
"Not to bring up uncomfortable memories, but wasn't the last time you saw them the time you killed Kate and then they burned you alive, hmm?" Isaac pointed out, turning around only to see Peter gone from the back seat.
Isaac sighed, scrambling out of the car to lift Luna for Maeve, Allison and Chris joined them by the car.
Chris tugged Maeve into a hug if whether she liked it or not, "Are you alright?"
Things had gotten a lot better after Lorraine's involuntary therapy session, Chris and Maeve had started to settle back into the relationship they once had and if anything Chris had grew more protective over his niece. Maeve blamed it on him not being able to be around the first time she was pregnant.
Allison, stubborn as she was, was slowly forming her friendship back with Maeve, but the cousins still had some battles to overcome before things could get back to a new normal.
Maeve nodded weakly, "I will be."
"Where are the others?" Allison stressed.
"I don't know. Scott and Stiles went back for Derek and Jennifer. We had to get Luna out," Isaac replied, noticing Derek's car speed towards them.
"Where's Scott and Stiles?" Allison asked impatiently.
"Stiles is still at the hospital," Derek quickly lifted Luna out of Isaac's arms, "He's gonna hold off the cops for us. We have to go right now."
Maeve opened the door, helping Luna sit up in the backseat.
"What about Scott and Melissa?" Chris asked.
"Jennifer took Melissa," Derek answered, the group falling silent in worry.
Allisons eyes widened, "What about Scott? Derek, where's Scott?"

        "No - well, yes."
Noah blinked slowly down at the PowerPoint Stiles and Maeve had put together, it was artfully done, he gave them that, but it probably wasn't the best way to spend Maeve's maternity leave.
