"Mr. Sterling... we... we found her!"
The two dejected souls instantly perked up.
Sophia was practically vibrating with excitement.
"Tell me where! I'll go beg her myself. Whatever price she wants me to pay, I'll do it. If Tyler can get better, I'd give my life!"
Her eyes were bloodshot, her tiny frame looking more fragile than ever.
Dante's nose also reddened, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl.
"Over my dead body will she hurt you! I'm being generous not making that bitch pay for what she's done. She tries anything with you?"
"The whole Sterling family won't stand for it!"
He turned to his assistant, voice sharp as a blade.
"What the hell are you waiting for?! Get them here NOW! Every second Tyler suffers is on you!"
The assistant opened his mouth, then closed it.
"But... but sir..."
Before he could finish, Dante had reached his breaking point.
His hand cracked across the assistant's face with brutal force, sending the man sprawling.
"Don't tell me you're protecting those two bitches too! Anyone who gets between me and saving Tyler is gonna regret it!"
The assistant clutched his cheek, struggling to his feet, voice shaking.
"But sir... Emma's... she's dead."
Dante's body went rigid. He staggered backward, his face darkening like a storm cloud.
"You better have your facts straight. If I find out you're lying to me, I'll make you wish you were never born!"
The assistant frantically pulled out documents.
"Here's the death certificate from the hospital. Cause of death: surgical complications, massive blood loss. It's all here."
"Time of death... three years ago. The night after you left for overseas."
Something clicked in Dante's mind. His rage exploded as he slammed his fist into the wall.
"That vindictive bitch! She let her own daughter die just to spite me!"
"I sent her a message telling her to come get Emma! If she really wanted to save her, how the hell did this happen? She probably saw Emma was useless and dumped her to go find some new sugar daddy!"
"Emma was still a Sterling! How could she be so fucking heartless!"
At Dante's words, Sophia shifted uncomfortably.
I floated nearby, my ghostly form weeping tears of blood.
After the surgery, Dante had whisked Tyler and all the specialists off on his private jet to Europe.
My Emma was dumped in their private hospital like garbage—no one watching over her.
He did send me that message, telling me to come with some regular doctors to take Emma away.
But what he didn't know was that after his security threw me out of the hospital, I got dragged into a van.
Inside, Sophia's thugs snapped both my arms and dumped me at the entrance of the city's most violent, lawless alley.
That night, they tortured me until I was barely breathing.
But I couldn't let myself die. Even with all that humiliation and abuse, even when the pain made me lose consciousness.
I couldn't die.
If I died, no one would be there to protect Emma.
At dawn, after those animals had used me up and finally left satisfied, I didn't waste a second. I rushed to that empty hospital and found nothing but blood everywhere.
My Emma... she died in my arms.
All night long, she suffered in agony. Only when she saw me did she finally dare to close her eyes.
My Emma died because of HIS hands, but now he's standing there cold as ice, cursing me out:
"A poisonous bitch like Celeste Winters doesn't deserve to have my child. She failed to protect Emma, and I'll never forgive her for that."
He turned to his assistant with ice-cold orders:
"Go prep the family tribunal. Get all the torture devices ready in the ancestral hall. I'm gonna judge her crimes in front of all my dead ancestors!"
