We gathered in the kitchen to take a shot before we left for Trio.
"To an amazing summer," Leah toasted as everyone tapped their glass and took the shot. We headed out of the door to the black truck my dad had on standby for us as we headed out for the night. The driver let Bria connect her phone to play turn up music as we took more shots so we would be lit as we arrived. I took out my phone to alert the owner of Trio that we were coming so he could reserve a section for us and decided to read Slim's text.
Challenge accepted ...
I locked the screen and went back to turning up, hyping up Leah as she twerked on Tim to Glorilla. The driver let us out on the corner as we arrived at Trio, grabbing Drew's hand as I spoke to some people in line on my way to the door.
"Welcome home, Ms. Powell. Your section is ready," the bouncer greeted me, allowing us all inside. The owner met me with a bartender to escort us to our section and told us to get anything we wanted.
"Guys, what are we drinking tonight?!" I yelled over the music.
"1942!" Leah and Bria sang as they danced. I tipped the bartender after requesting 2 bottles and asked that they not do the typical sparklers on the bottle to keep as much attention off us as possible. We turned up in the section as the bottles arrived, taking shots and pouring drinks with the variety of juices provided.
"Come with me to the bathroom!" Leah yelled at us over the music. We followed her to the single bathroom, dancing and singing while she hovered over the toilet.
"You broke your seal, now you gone be pissy the rest of the night," I laughed, making sure my dress was pulled down enough in the mirror.
"Yeah, whatever," she laughed back, unscrewing the top of her necklace and taking a bump of coke in front of us.
"Leah, what the fuck?" Bria asked shocked that she just did that in front of us with no warning.
"Have you seen Vanderbilt's campus? Trust me I'm not the only person on coke," she rolled her eyes, continuing. "Want a bump?"
Bria and I looked at each other.
"I'm doing this for the plot," I shrugged my shoulders as I took 2 bumps as well.
"Fuck it, I wanna turn up!" Bria said taking her bumps. We checked our noses in the mirror before heading back to the section. The high kicked in right as we made our way back and I went straight to Drew, sitting in his lap.
"You straight, mama?" he asked as he placed his hand on my waist.
"Yeah, let's take another shot!"
The rest of the evening was spent taking shots and trips to the bathroom for more bumps. As the night went on, the high mellowed us out as the boys were hype. I closed my eyes swaying side to side before Drew wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me on to his lap.
"Baby, you sure you good?"
"Yes I'm fine. Why do you keep asking?" I asked leaning back on him.
"Because the three of y'all look high as fuck."
"We do?" I said with big eyes as I turned around and looked at him.
"Fuck, Jordyn, are you high?!" he asked grabbing my chin to look in my eyes.
"A little, it's no big deal," I replied pulling my face away. He grabbed me by my arm, leading me out of the section and into the bathroom.
"What is your problem, Drew? Someone could've saw that!"
"Just like they can see that y'all are high, Jordyn!"
"Will you lower your voice before they hear you in China?!"
"JoJo, what the fuck, babe?" he said grabbing both sides of my face. "Are you stressed about something? Talk to me."
"I'm just trying to have a good time, stop treating me like a baby!" I said snatching his hands from my face. He grabbed me and turned me around to face the mirror.
"Look at yourself, Jordyn. Look!" he said, grabbing my face to make me look in the mirror. "Do you look like yourself?"
I took his hand from around my face and walked out of the bathroom back to the section.
"Is everything okay? That looked intense," Bria asked me.
"He thinks he's so perfect. Fuck him," I said as I poured another shot.
We continued to turn up as the night went on and decided to head out around 1. I tipped the bartender again and thanked the owner for taking care of us before we made our way back to the truck.
"Where Drew at?" CJ asked looking around.
"Yeah, I haven't seen him in a minute," Leah said.
"We had a little argument. He probably went for a walk to calm down," I said taking out my phone to call him but it went straight to voicemail. "He didn't answer. Maybe he went back to the house."
We headed back to Eastover, laughing and talking about how much fun we had until we pulled up in front of the house.
"Y'all we should chill by the pool and watch the sun rise tonight," Leah exclaimed.
"That sounds good. Let's go upstairs and change," Bria agreed.
I went inside, upstairs and into my bedroom when I saw Drew packing.
"You're leaving?" I asked calmly, walking over to my dresser to take my jewelry off.
"Nah, just moving to the room down the hall. I wanna save you the embarrassment of having to explain to your parents why I left after one fucking day. Not that you would tell them the truth."
"You're making this bigger than it needs to be. Leah and Bria were doing the exact same thing."
"Leah and Bria's father isn't the fucking assistant district attorney, Jordyn."
"I'm just having fun! School is out, I'm off from the club, we're spending the summer together, everything you wanted."
"You think I wanna spend the summer with a cokehead?"
"It was one fucking time! Nobody even noticed but you. If it means that much to you, I won't do it again."
"Come on, baby. Like, damn, I can let the dancing slide but this is a dangerous road to go down."
"Okay, Drew. Now can we go by the pool and chill so everyone knows you're alive?"
"Yeah," he sighed walking over to hug me. "I'm sorry I snapped but you know how I am about drugs and the situation with my mom."
"Baby, I know. But I'm not your mom," I said placing my hand on his cheek. "Its just for fun. I have my entire future ahead of me and I'm not throwing that away. Just trust me."
"I do trust you, I'm sorry," he said kissing my forehead.
"Now help me pick out a bikini so we can make out in the pool."
We got dressed and headed to the backyard where everyone was in the pool waiting.
"Its about time," Leah teased.
"Zip it, bitch, I had to make sure my man was good," I laughed, shivering at the cold pool water.
"What were y'all fighting about anyway?" Bria asked, floating in the inflated pool chair.
"He was mad about the coke."
"Oh, Drew, lighten up. We're just trying to have a fun summer before we have to spend them interning."
"We good now. I know she's been working hard and she's just enjoying her last lil bit of freedom before I lock her ass down," he said, wrapping his arms around me and kissing my shoulder.
"Coke?" CJ questioned. "Nobody told me a damn thing."
"You could've asked Tim if you wanted some," Leah said.
"The hell y'all got going on?"
"Tim's a dealer."
"Does your dad know? That's probably why he doesn't like him," Bria said, still floating around.
"Bria!" Leah scolded. "No he doesn't know. My dad doesn't dislike him, he just doesn't know him like I do."
"Well I ain't eating his ass like I do yours so he can hate me if he want," Tim chuckled as Leah splashed water at him.
"You won't have to deal with him too much longer anyway since you're about to move back home."
"Where you from, bro?" Drew asked.
"Houston," Tim replied.
"Shit, that's where we just came from," CJ chimed in.
"Now I can visit my man and my girls all in one weekend," Bria smiled.
"At least I'll have people out there I know so I don't have to hang out with my freaky ass cousin outside of dealing."
"What's wrong with being freaky?" Bria asked, offended.
"Nothing but that nigga Slim TOO freaky."
"Slim?!" Bria and I asked together, glancing at each other.
"Y'all know him?"
"It's hella niggas that be on campus named Slim. I wonder which one it is," CJ added.
"Its probably that nigga Tyler," Drew laughed. "He look like he be into some shit."
"Nah, he not in school. The nigga look normal though. He just freaky," Tim laughed.
"Well, what's bro name so I can keep him away from my wife?" Drew chuckled, kissing my cheek.
"Devon."
