I rolled over in bed to steal some cuddles from Drew but he wasn't next to me. I sat up and looked towards the bathroom but the door was open and the light was off. I figured he was in the kitchen waiting for the chefs to finish breakfast as usual. I grabbed my robe off the back of the bathroom door and stepped in my slippers as I began to make my way downstairs.
"Good morning, baby," I yawned rubbing my eyes as I was shocked by what was waiting for me in the kitchen.
"Happy birthday, Jordyn!" everyone yelled with smiles on their faces.
"Are y'all trying to give me a heart attack?!" I yelled with my hand on my chest. "Y'all know I'm jumpy."
"Sorry, baby girl," my dad laughed, giving me a hug. "I thought you grew out of that."
"Thanks y'all," I said after finally catching my breath, grabbing the latte one of the chefs made for me before hugging my mom. "I really appreciate it. Thank you."
"Julie made all of your favorites for brunch so let's go eat so you can open your gifts," my mom said, handing me over to Drew so he could lead me to the kitchen. The set up was beautiful, decorated in my favorite shade of pink with hints of rose gold throughout. There were bouquets of pink tulips all around the room, balloons that spelled out my name, and a table full of gifts.
"Sit wherever you want, baby. I'll bring your plate to you. Happy birthday," Drew said kissing my forehead. I chose the end chair facing my father that no one dared to sit at, and asked for Drew and Leah to be on either side of me. We all sat, talked, and sipped mimosas until we finished eating and it was time to open my gifts.
"This one's from me," my mom said, handing me a bag. There was a Christian Louboutin box inside and my jaw dropped.
"Mom, no way," I said opening the box before screaming. "So Kates?!" I jumped up and hugged her, glad that she honored her promise of teaching me to walk in them when I was old enough.
"Okay, me next," Bria said, grabbing a large box with a bow. When I opened it there was a picture frame holding my first picture with Drew from freshman year.
"How did you find this?!" I exclaimed as tears started rolling down my face.
"Well you 'lost' the other pictures so I wanted you to have this one," she replied. I didn't really lose the pictures of me and Drew, I cut them up when we broke up but we never told my parents about the breakup.
I opened the rest of my gifts, some from extended family and my dad's colleagues until I got to the most important gifts: Drew and my dad.
"You wanna go first?" Drew asked my father.
"No way," he chuckled, knowing he would have the better gift.
"JoJo," Drew said grabbing my hands. "I know we've had ups and downs these past 2.5 years but we've always put the love we have for each other first. I couldn't imagine my life without you and there's never a day that goes by that I don't think about our future together."
He reached for a small bag on the table and pulled out a ring box.
"Mr. J, don't kill me yet. It's not what you think it is," he chuckled, looking back at my dad. He opened the box to reveal a beautiful ring as he got down on one knee.
"Jordyn Marie Powell, will you take this ring as a promise that we will be together no matter what, that we will weather any storm, that we will love without conditions and choose each other in every lifetime?"
"Yes, Drew," I whispered as tears ran down my face. He placed the ring on me as everyone clapped and gave me a modest kiss.
"Alright, Daddy," I said, wiping my tears. "Time for the grand finale."
"I know you spend a lot of time alone when Drew is busy or you're feeling homesick, so I got you a little something to keep you company while you're in Texas."
He motioned for the staff to bring the gift in and it was a gorgeous, golden brown, toy poodle.
"Daddy, thank you!" I ran past his open arms to pick up my dog, showering him with eskimo kisses and hugs. I walked back over to my dad to hug him and brought the dog to Drew so he could sniff him.
"This is the best birthday ever. I love you guys so much," I said, crying again.
"And this is just the beginning," Leah said, wiping my face.
Drew and I decided to take our new baby for a walk while everyone got ready to sit by the pool.
"Have you thought of a name yet?" Drew asked as he leaned down to pick up the first poo.
"Not yet. He looks like a chicken tender so I'm thinking Cane."
"That's so cheesy. Just name him Baby Drew cause he my son," he laughed.
"That's even cheesier!" I laughed back. "How about DJ for Drew and Jordyn?"
"I like that so I can tell people it means Drew Jr," he chuckled, wrapping his arm around me as we started our walk back to the house.
Later that night ...
"Whew, baby, your mama threw DOWN in the kitchen tonight," Drew sighed, laying across the bed rubbing his stomach.
"I'm so full I don't know if I'll make it to the club tonight," I said, laying next to him.
"You enjoyed your birthday so far?" he asked grabbing my hand and interlocking our fingers.
"One of the best days of my life. I love you so much."
"I love you too baby."
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in," I yelled before Bria and Leah came in. "Hey, y'all. What's up?"
"Nothing, we came to play with DJ," Leah said sitting on the floor rolling a ball back and forth.
"Well, I'm going empty out my stomach," Drew said going into the bathroom.
"So," Leah started, "we're throwing you a party tonight at Encore. Tim conducts some business there so he'll try to stay far away from us so nobody catches on but it's no big deal."
"Cool, sounds good to me. What time we leaving?"
"10:30ish so we can make it there by 11. That gives me time to take a nap cause Auntie Kim was not playing in that kitchen today."
"Girl!" Bria agreed. "I'm so sleepy it don't make sense."
I laughed as my phone began ringing. Without looking I pressed Accept and placed the phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Still playing hide and seek?" Slim asked with silence in the background.
"I'm not playing anything."
Bria looked at me and I nodded to let her know it was him.
"Good because you're it."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"You're a smart girl, you'll figure it out."
"Whatever you're thinking about doing, stop."
"Its already done, but I gotta go. Happy birthday, Jordyn," he said before hanging up the phone.
"What happened?" Bria asked, concerned.
"He's here," I replied.
"Who? What's going on?" Leah asked looking back and forth between us.
The toilet flushed and I knew Drew would be coming out soon.
"I'll tell you later," I whispered, pointing at the bathroom door. Drew came back into the room and looked at us as we looked at him.
"What?" he asked.
"Did you spray?" Bria asked holding her nose.
"Nah," he laughed laying on top of me. "My baby like how it smell."
"Mm, well we'll give y'all nasty asses some privacy," Leah replied making a stink face. "Be ready for 10:30."
"We might be a little later than that," Drew grinned, kissing me, preparing to give me my final birthday gift.
