System, are you messing with me? - Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Shu Ning swallowed hard when he saw all the razor sharp claws and teeth of the Sphinx that were gathering below himself. It was a terrifying scene to watch those big and ugly creatures to rip at each others throat with a crazy light in their eyes and all that just because of one little stone.
Shu Ning: "Those monsters really look frightening. It would be suicide to jump down there now. No matter how strong i am, there are just too many."
System: "Host has 2000 Points remaining. Maybe the system store has something useful for the Host."
Shu Ning: "Then please look if there is something to enhance my strength."
System: "There are three type of enhancement pills. The grade one enhancement pill that works for one hour and only strengthens your muscles. Then there is the grade two enhancement pill that holds up for three hours and strengthens your muscles, eyes and ears but after the three hours are over, the body will be in a weaker state for one hour. And at last there is also the grade three enhancement pill. This one strengthens all of the users senses and holds on for five hours. But after the time is up, the body will temporarily shut itself down because of overuse. Which one should I purchase?"
Shu Ning: "The second grade one. Put it right into my mouth. My hands are dirty."
Alpha nodded obediently inside of Shu Ning's Consciousness and happily flashed it's light a few times while jumping up and down as if to ask for his Host's praise for finally being useful.
Shu Ning: "..." 'Stupid System. What are you being so flashy about with such an easy task?'
Shu Ning helplessly rolled his eyes at the childish actions of the system but still hesitantly reached out some imaginary hands inside of his Consciousness to coaxingly pat the shining ball. Just that before those hands could even reach Alpha, a round object with a smooth texture and bitter taste appeared inside of his mouth and took away all of his attention when it quickly melted into a warm flow of energy.
After the comfortable energy spread inside of Shu Ning's whole body, a tremendous power could be felt enveloping every muscle and tendon of the boy so that he couldn't help but narrow his eyes dangerously and slightly lift the corners of his lips into a wicket grin in bliss.
Shu Ning: "Let the slaughter beginn."
The blue stone that Shu Ning still kept raised into the air was speedily put back into his pocket and with the draw of his sword he jumped into the swarm of ugly monsters below.

The soldiers, that were moments before still confused about the whole situation, saw their General rushing into the group of Sphinx at lightning speed and could do nothing more but follow closely behind. With their swords raised high into the air, they yelled loudly for their comrades to keep up when they pounced on the monsters left and right from them to sever their ugly heads.
The call of their friends at last woke up every last one of the humans still standing there in a daze and so more and more soldiers ran towards the battlefield to help out their team in their hopeful last fight in this war. In seconds the growling and squeaking of the Sphinx could be heard from every corner of the battleground when their life came to an abrupt end. But the more Sphinx took their last breath and fell limb to the ground, the more confused the Soldiers became as they realized that the Monsters completely ignored their existence and only concentrated on tearing each other apart in a gruesome battle.
"What is going on?"
Liu Chen finally couldn't help but voice out the question in everyone's hearts but there was no way the people present could find a sufficient answer, so they could only continue slashing their swords through the Sphinx limbs and stay wary of any occurring changes.
The only one who wasn't bothered by the Sphinx strange behavior was the person responsible for the whole mess. Shu Ning. The boy was still swinging his sword tirelessly at every enemy who crossed his field of vision without stopping or dropping his speed. His slashes and thrusts of his sword amazingly accurate as it only needed one move of his wrists to take down another one of those ugly creatures.  Bit by bit the space around Shu Ning had already transformed into a cemetery littered with mountains of corpses with green blood seeping into the sandy ground.
The enhancement pill from the System store Shu Ning had swallowed before helped his body reach new heights in a restricted amount of time. In this time Shu Ning didn't feel much pain from the sharp nails of the Sphinx that sometimes scraped at his skin, there was no exhaustion or muscle pain in his arms from the constant movements of his sword and his speed, strength and senses were visibly enhanced so much so that Shu Ning could see every twitch of the Sphinx body, feel the wind and sand twirling around him when he turned his body and stabbed his sword in another monsters throat and hear the crunching of sand from the feet of the Sphinx and the disgusting sound of splattering green blood.
This extreme state of Shu Ning and of course the existence of the blue moon helped the boy to turn around the tide of the war in an instance. There were no casualties on the side of the humans anymore and instead the amount of Sphinx in the vicinity lessened rapidly until three hours later only a handful of battered and severely injured creatures were left.
The entire battleground was already covered in the Body's of those monsters and the rest of them would be taken care of in a short amount of time as well, so Shu Ning didn't need to worry about the soldiers anymore. Not that it would make much of a difference even if his comrades still needed his help because the three hour restriction of the enhancement pill that had kept him going until now had already stopped working.
Shu Ning had just stabbed his sword into another one of his enemies throats ending the creatures life when a wave of dizziness washed over him from the sudden pain of all the cuts and bruises that were covering his body. The huge body of the monster he had just killed dropped down onto the ground and pulled the sword right out of Shu Ning's stiff and trembling fingers. He felt so tired and exhausted from the strain the pill had put his body under that he could not move a single finger at all and that even standing used up way more energy than normally.
Another wave of dizziness came crashing down on Shu Ning together with a fierce stab of pain in his head that immediately took away the last bit of strength that had kept him upright until now. But before he could fall face first onto the ground a wide manly chest appeared in front of him and a strong pair of arms pulled him securely against it.
"Are you alright?"
A hoarse voice full of worry sounded above Shu Ning's head and instantly brought him out of his stupor from the sudden hug of the stranger.
"Yes. Everything alright. You can release me."
The strange man didn't seem to have any intention of letting him go though so Shu Ning tried to struggle out of the guy's grip only to notice that his body still refused to obey his orders and would collapse as soon as the other would retrieve his arms.
A slight vibration passed through the musculus chest Shu Ning was leaning against when the man chuckled at his struggling expression.
"Don't worry. Your body must be exhausted. I will bring you back to the camp for now."
"Bring me back? How? I can't seem to move."
The man just smiled in response and shifted his hold on Shu Ning slightly to bend down more easily. But before the boy had any chance to understand what he was up to, the stranger slid his right hand under Shu Ning's legs and swiftly lifted him up into a princess hold.
"Like this."
Shu Ning: "Hahhhh? What is that guy doing. Who is that even?"
System: "Host. Please calm down. Your IQ shouldn't have suffered from the side effect of the pill. The person holding you is the General of squad three, Sun Zhilong. That's your boss at the moment. So please calm down and act appropriately."
Shu Ning stilled when he heard Alphas words. He was way too busy dealing with his headache and weak limbs before so he hadn't really looked at the other persons face especially when the guy pressed him against his chest and didn't leave him much space to move his head.
Now though, the general was carrying him in his arms, giving Shu Ning the chance to finally take notice of the man's appearance. So without further listening to his Systems continuous cries, he lifted his head and came face to face with a very handsome face with sharp facial features, short black hair and a pair of dark black eyes that have never stopped looking at the boy in his arms.
Shu Ning shuddered unconsciously when he met the others heavy gaze and hurriedly lowered his head again. But to his dismay, during the entire walk back to the camp and even after entering the healer's tent and being put down onto the soft cushions, he could still feel the Man's eyes on his face.
"I thank Captain Sun for bringing me to the healer's tent. Miss Zhao will take care of the rest, so Captain Sun doesn't need to remain here any longer."
Zhao Lan, or Miss Zhao how everyone in the army called him, was a very feminine looking man with tender white skin, short blonde hair and a soft and gentle smile on his lips that always helped to calm down his agitated patients.
Normally such a weak and fragile man wouldn't be allowed to enter any specific squad at all and could only stay back at their home planet, but because Miss Zhao's knowledge for medicine and abundant experience were unquestionably glorious. So General Sun Zhilong went against the opinion of his superiors and took the medic under his wings.
"Yes. Of course. You can leave everything to me. I will definitely take good care of the boy."
A large curtain, that separated the tent into two parts, was pulled aside and a young man with a bowl of steaming hot water walked towards the makeshift bed of Shu Ning to look over the boy's injuries.
"So. What's your name young Soldier? And where exactly are you injured?"
Shu Ning still hadn't regained much strength in his limps yet so he could only stay lying on his back on the cushions and watch as Miss Zhao pulled a white powder out of a small bag at his waist and dissolve it into the hot water the medic had brought with him.
"My Name is Yang Quan. I only have a few light scratches on my body that aren't worth mentioning. I just have trouble moving right now because of exhaustion. Nothing serious."
"If it is nothing serious then that is good. Just rest for a bit and drink this. It will help you regain some strength."
Shu Ning doubt that the medicine will actually do any good in his case but still obediently took the offered bowl into his hands and lifted his upper body to drink it. A few drops of the milky while liquid missed his mouth and slowly ran down his cheek towards his chin and dripped down onto the floor making Shu Ning frown from the sticky feeling.
After taking over the now empty bowl again Miss Zhao stood up from his position next to the makeshift bed and disappeared behind the curtain yet again, leaving the tired youth and an expressionless General, who still hadn't moved from the entrance of the healer's tent and tried hard not to gaze too deeply at the boy's damp lips, behind.
