System, are you messing with me? - Chapter 4: Chapter 4

Shu Ning was harshly woken up by a string of pain traveling up his spine. Just moving around on the bed had him curse from the pain.
Shu Ning: "Fuck! What is this bed made of? How come it's so hard? My hip and back are killing me."
Shu Ning slowly scooted to the edge of the bed and toppled over his feet when he was trying to stand up. With a bang he knocked over the chair he clung onto to steady himself. Abruptly the door was opened and an anxious Sheng Rui stood in the room.
"Son. Is everything alright? I heard a loud noise. Are you hurt?"
Shu Ning just stared at him in surprise and shook his head.
"That's good to hear then. You should get ready and eat your breakfast. Afterwards we will leave for your new school."
Sheng Rui closed the door behind him again and Shu Ning washed up and changed his clothes before climbing down the stairs.

Sheng Rui and his wife already sat at the breakfast table when Shu Ning entered as well. He sat down at the furthest chair away from Sheng Xi and stared intently at the food in front of him. His longing expression towards all the delicacy's earned a low chuckle from Sheng Rui. Shu Ning blushed lightly and moved around on his chair uncomfortably.
"You can already start eating, son. Your brother is busy, so you don't need to wait."
Shu Nings eyes brightened by this and he momentarily forgot his shy exterior as he grabbed food after food and shoved it down like he was starving. At this rate he would really turn into a foody.
During the entire meal Sheng Rui's eyes never left Shu Ning's lively appetite and when ever he got the chance he would put more food on his sons plate. Sheng Xi just continued drinking her tea and smiling full of affection while she watched that harmonious father and son pair.
From the outside it would really look like an affectionate family but Sheng Xi couldn't fool Shu Ning. Even while he was burying himself in the food, he could still feel her displeasure stabbing through him like a sharp needle.
Shu Ning was used to the jealous eyes of other people but under normal circumstances he could react haughtily towards people who felt displeased with him. But now he was forced to ignore her presence and even had to pretend to be scared of her. So he could only vent internally again and bombarded her with all the swear words he could come up with.
After Shu Ning has finally eaten his fill he hastily stood up and ran outside as if he was scared to stay even a second longer at the table. Sheng Rui furrowed his eyebrows and turned to his wife.
"I'm worried about Meng Yi. He seems to awkward with other people. You must make sure to pay extra attention to him in the future and give him a lot of care."
"Of course. I will be a great mother for him, so you don't need to worry about him to much."
After Shu Ning left the mansion he sat down on one of the stones next to the gate and stretched his limbs. He went through his missions again and started to plan out his retaliation.
Shu Ning: "How are things going on your side, Alpha? Where is the Female Lead?"
System: "The Female Lead isn't doing anything suspicious. She is getting ready to leave her home at the moment. I will continue following her."
Shu Ning still had a few years left until the Male and Female Lead would meet so he had enough time to obstruct her. He had chosen the flirt skill before, because he thought it was interesting but maybe it would really come in handy now. He just had to pull Sheng Rui and Fan Li to his side and the missions would be easy.
Shu Ning: "Alpha. Did you find out why Meng Yi knew about Fan Li?"
System: "No Host .I- I'm very sorry (｡•́︿•̀｡)"
Sheng Rui finally stepped out of the building and made his way to the car. Shu Ning opened the car door and took his seat next to the driver. Along their way it was very quite because no one said anything the entire time. Shu Ning just looked out of the window deep in his thoughts while Sheng Rui opened his mouth multiple times to say something but then closed it again when nothing came to his mind.
Like this Shu Ning had enough time to continue thinking things over. Because Sheng Rui would be leaving the town for a while he would have to think of a method to deal with Sheng Xi. As long as he collected enough evidence for her actions even that love struck Sheng Rui wouldn't have a chance to deny the accusations against her. And in the matter of Fan Li and Sheng Su, he just had to make Fan Li fall in love with him. He definitely had the confidence that he was capable of achieving that.

The school in the vicinity was a very enormous and luxurious building. Fitting to harbor lots of rich second generations. Shu Ning fiddled with the hem of his shirt in a shy manner while Sheng Rui was talking with the headmaster of this school. Even the office was luxurious without compare. There was a couch, a big desk, multiple paintings on the wall and even an expensive looking vase on a table next to the door. Shu Ning really didn't know where to look at all because he was feeling more and more annoyed by the sight. After the introduction was finished and he politely said a few words to the head master he could finally leave that place. Shu Ning might not know much about art or aesthetics but seeing the room just now didn't have a bit of class at all. It felt for him like the headmaster just wanted to show of his wealth.
System: "Host!!! Host!!!!"
The systems yelling sounded in Shu Ning's head and he frowned from the noise.
Shu Ning: "Spill it. Don't yell so loudly or I will get angry!"
System: " Σ(･口･) H-Host. Don't be like this. I-I really have some news."
Shu Ning: "If it's urgent then tell already."
System: "The female lead went to a restaurant with his friends and I noticed the presence of the male lead in this exact same restaurant as well."
The father and son pair was already almost at the car when Shu Ning froze on the spot. Sheng Rui looked at his son for a moment and then walked up to him and took him in his arms. Sheng Rui really couldn't help him self. That lost and surprised expression on his son's face was really to lovely.
When Shu Ning come back to his senses again he found himself in the arms of Sheng Rui and couldn't quite understand what was going on anymore. He first breathed in deeply to calm down his complicated mood and then lightly watered his eyes to look at his father pitifully.
"Dad."
Sheng Rui was at a loss of what to do when he saw his son all teary eyed. He felt something tug on his heart strings when he saw this. At this moment he wanted to fulfill any wish Meng Yi might have.
"Dad. Can we... uhm.... food."
Sheng Rui smiled at the lightly blushing boy in front of him and pushed him to the car.
"Where would you like to go?"
Shu Ning looked at Sheng Rui with a visible sparkle in his eyes and told him the address of the restaurant the Female and Male Lead were currently eating.
Shu Ning didn't know why the Female Lead would be so unpredictable the whole time. First he found out that she already met the Male Lead as children and now they are even eating in the same restaurant.
Shu Ning: "Alpha. Is there an update available for you? If anything more than this happens I might as well exchange you for a different System."
Shu Ning couldn't see the System because it was still following the Female Lead but he didn't need to to picture it's light dimming in depression.
System: "Host.... ‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚. I-I.... I really don't know anything."
Shu Ning: "Stop crying. I just have to adjust my plans according to the information."
The car came to a stop in front of a long glass window. Through this glass Shu Ning could already see many people sitting at tables covered by a white cloth. The inside of the restaurant looked more like a castle in the middle ages. He could see torches hanging on the walls and lighting up the room. The light especially emphasized the old pictures of well known people. Shu Ning looked over the people but only recognized a war lord, the first president and a female actor. The rest of the room was full of tables and benches. It looked like a really comfortable and romantic atmosphere but Shu Ning couldn't understand why Sheng Su would be interested in a place like this.
Sheng Rui guided Shu Ning up the stairs to a wooden door with two wings you had to push open. The door handle was a door knob with a lion head and at the top of the door two crossing swords were engraved in to the wood.
Shu Ning entered the room right after Sheng Rui opened the door and threw himself on the soft couch. He rolled around a few times before sitting down correctly and guiltily looking at Sheng Rui.
"No worries. You don't need to be shy with me. We are family after all."
Shu Ning lowered his head even more to avoid his fathers eyes. While purposely avoiding to answer his father he asked System about the whereabouts of Fan Li.
System: "The Female Lead is in a private room on this floor. As is the Male Lead. He seems to be waiting for someone."
Shu Ning: "Tell me as soon as the Female Lead leaves the room."
Even though Shu Ning only asked to come to a restaurant for his mission and not because he was hungry he couldn't help drooling from the delicious smell of food.
He was already almost done tasting all of the foods Sheng Rui ordered for him when Alpha notified him that Fan Li left her room to go to the bathroom. Shu Ning left his room as well after excusing himself with Sheng Rui. He went to the bathroom to wash his hands and with the help of Alpha he timely bumped in to the Female Lead on his way back. With a yelp Fan Li rubbed her sore nose from the impact and looked up to see the person obstructing her way. Shu Ning turned around to face Fan Li and worriedly looked her over.
"I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you hurt anywhere?"
Shu Ning hooked up the corner of his lips in to a warm smile. Coupled with the warm light that shone on the side of his face his whole person seemed to have walked out of a painting. So beautiful and majestic but also kind and fresh. That was the image Shu Ning used to appeal to the Female Lead.
Fan Li blushed and turned her head to avoid the others eyes but couldn't help glancing a few more times at him. After that little encounter Fan Li left for her private room again. Shu Ning didn't want their meeting to drag on to long and break the fleeting moment so he let her leave. The girl was still young herself but she didn't loose any of her grace from when she was a child. But to Shu Ning even an outstanding appearance as that wouldn't make him infatuated.
He turned around again to go back to Sheng Rui when he heard two people loudly talking behind the corner. Even though it wouldn't have anything to do with him, he was still to curious to just ignore their discussions.
"I don't understand what this is all about? I know that I have done wrong in the past but I have done exceptionally well lately so I thought I made up for my mistakes."
Shu Ning guessed that the voice belong to an about 25 year old guy. The guy tried repressing his surging emotions while talking so his words were pressed through clenched teeth.
"Please give me another chance. I won't disappoint you. You can't just throw me away like this after all we've been through."
"No need to beg for mercy. You are done for. Clean out your office in the company and then disappear from my sight. Take him away."
From glancing around the corner Shu Ning could see two bulky men dragging away a struggling and yelling person. The one left behind was someone Shu Ning recognized instantly. Just those cold and penetrating eyes were enough for the temperature in the hall to drop by multiple degrees. Sheng Su continued standing rooted on the spot and when he suddenly started talking with his deep and monotonous voice he send a shudder through Shu Nings body.
"How long do you plan to eavesdrop? Come out of your hiding and explain what you want to achieve by listening."
Escaping now would be useless so Shu Ning took a deep breath and then stepped into Sheng Su's view.

From where Sheng Su assumed someone was hiding he saw a trembling youth appear that resembled a frightened hamster. The child's head was hung low and his hands clutched the hem of his T-Shirt until they turned white. The shoulders and legs were trembling as he walked unsteadily towards Sheng Su. In the middle of the way the youth tripped over his own feet and stumbled a bit. Sheng Su silently watched as their distance became smaller until the boy came to a stop in front of him. Sheng Su recognized the boy at first glance as well.
Meng Yi only arrived at his house a few days ago so he didn't have much of an impression on him and just planed of ignoring his existence. But seeing Meng Yi close to tears the day before made his mood complicated and he couldn't help but stop his mother from bullying him.
Now the same boy was standing in front of him obviously scared of him.
"I-I-I'm sorry. I didn't... I didn't mean to listen. Don't be a-angry, please."
Sheng Su stretched out his finger and lifted the boys face. Meng Yi's sky blue eyes were filled with tears and his cheeks and nose were tinted in pink. The boys lips faintly trembled so he bit on his lower lip in response. Sheng Su looked at Meng Yis pitiful appearance and knitted his brows. He unconsciously lowered his temperament while locking eyes with that pair of deep and glistering eyes.
Sheng Su couldn't tell why he couldn't look away or why he felt so uncomfortable looking at the crying youth before him.
"Are you scared of me?"
Sheng Su had a lot of enemy's in his line of work and because of that he changed into a person no one would dare take advantage of. It was better if the People were too afraid to move against him.
But because he always kept his distance with others, he was at a loss of what to do now.
The Boy lifted his arms and wiped away the tears.
"No. Not afraid."
Sheng Su pulled his hand back from under Meng Yi's chin. His face stayed expressionless the whole time so only Sheng Su would know what was going on inside of his head at that obvious lie.
"Little Yi! There you are. I was worried about you when you didn't come back after a long time."
Sheng Rui came jogging towards them. His expression quickly darkened when he saw Shu Ning's face.
"Who bullied you my son. You can tell your Daddy everything. I will definitely get revenge for you."
Sheng Rui turned his head to Sheng Su with question marks in his eyes.
"Dad. It's nothing. It was my own mistake."
Shu Ning pulled on Sheng Rui's clothes. He was finished with the first step of his plan, so he just wanted to leave.
"Alright. Let's leave then."
Shu Ning just wanted to leave when he was picked up by Sheng Rui. He automatically wrapped his arms around Sheng Rui's neck and blushed deeply. Seeing the bewildered expression on Meng Yi's face Sheng Rui could't help but pinch those cheeks of his. Shu Ning shrunk his neck to escape Sheng Rui's fingers and buried his head into his shoulder.
Sheng Su watched Meng Yi's shy actions and felt amused by it. Those pink and tender cheeks really made one want to pinch them. Even Sheng Su thought so but was practiced enough not to act on impulse.
Sheng Su felt a slight warmth seeping in his chest while standing there and watching Meng Yi's mood brighten up.

Shu Ning continued to cling onto Sheng Rui while they walked back to the car.
His mood had turned good because he managed to meet the Female Lead according to plan and deepened his bond with his father. Bumping into Sheng Su wasn't part of his plans but from the Information he got out of the conversation he overheard, the company seemed to have problems with their workers. Shu Ning smiled lightly when Sheng Rui sat him in the car and earned a pat on the head in return.
The father and son pair drove to the Sheng family home and Shu Ning bid his goodbye to Sheng Rui. The father would be gone for quite a while so seeing the reluctance to part in Meng Yi's eyes he pulled him into a quick hug and put a mobile phone in his hands.
"If ever something is wrong or you just miss me, then you can call me. My number is already saved under daddy."
Sheng Rui patted Meng Yi's head one last time, then turned to his wife with a loving smile before he disappeared in the car and drove out of the view of Shu Ning. Now his retaliation against Sheng Xi can commence.
