'Something new?' Lorraine's mind instantly filled with X-rated dorm-room gossip, everything Sheila ever said back in college. "Maybe... not?" She nervously waved him off.
"Why not?" he asked, easily trapping her with his long arms and giving her butt a hard smack. "Go wash up. I'm taking you out for your birthday."
Lorraine blinked, totally thrown off. 'Wait. He wasn't kidding? He is really going to celebrate my birthday?'
She barely had time to process anything when he kept going. "So, do you have a birthday wish?"
A birthday wish always felt too fancy to even think about. There was no way she had one. Lorraine blinked and shook her head. Eugene paused. His expression shifted a little before it finally settled.
"Eugene, you... you need to let me go. I... I have to..." She started to panic. Her cheeks turned red as she kept reaching toward the bathroom.
"You need something that bad?" He chuckled. "Be good, okay? Once these few days are over, I'll make it up to you."
Lorraine didn't even know what to say. "I need to use the bathroom. Like, right now. I can't hold it..."
She really had to pee. And the way he was holding her made it a hundred times worse. Her bladder felt like it might burst.
They hadn't even done anything yet, but just from how tightly he was holding her, she could feel it. He was aroused again. After so many disasters, she finally concluded: never mess with a man in the morning.
Eugene finally let her go. "You want me to help?"
She was horrified. "Help with what?" She was so desperate. She missed her toilet like crazy.
"You helped me once, didn't you? I could return the favor."
Lorraine didn't stick around to argue. She ran into the bathroom and slammed the door shut. She plopped onto the toilet and crossed her legs tight. Then the door opened.
She panicked. "How did you get in here? I locked it!"
Eugene casually held up a key and tossed it onto the sink. "I'm just here to brush my teeth."
Lorraine didn't buy that at all. "Get out!" She didn't want him to see her like this, especially not now. She was about to change her pad.
"I'm not leaving," he said calmly. "I need to check if you're really on your period."
"Check? Are you serious right now?" She couldn't take it anymore.
"Of course I am."
She looked up at him with a pitiful expression and said, "Can you please go?"
"Nope." He wasn't budging at all.
Lorraine was about to explode. "Eugene, if you don't leave right now, I'll—"
"You'll what?" He crouched down so they were eye to eye. Then, just like that, he held out a pink heating pad and handed it to her.
Lorraine froze. "You asked if I had my period just so you could give me this?"
"What else? What's going on in that head of yours? You're so not innocent."
'Who's the one being not innocent here?' Lorraine puffed up her cheeks like a frog and glared at him like she was about to fight.
But the moment he reached out and poked her cheek, she deflated like a balloon. She quietly took the heating pad and stuck it to her stomach. "My bad."
"Good." He ruffled her hair. "Quit imagining weird stuff. Why are you always scheming to get me into bed? That's seriously messed up."
He was just messing with her now. He grabbed both corners of her mouth and stretched them wide. Now she looked like a little frog. Lorraine was speechless.
She thought, 'Who was the one always thinking about that stuff? Absolutely, it was not me.' Still, she didn't bother arguing.
She leaned her face into his chest and gave a little snuggle. "I've got a birthday wish now," she said softly.
"Oh yeah? You finally came up with one?" He grinned.
"Yup. Every time I'm on my period, I want someone to bring me a heating pad." She nodded like she was making the most heartfelt wish in the world.
Eugene just stared at her. But in the end, her serious little face got to him. "I wish you didn't get your period at all," he said.
"Huh?" Lorraine didn't catch it. He stood up, gave her head a gentle pat, and then walked out without another word.
Eugene had been so pushy about it that Lorraine ended up taking time off and staying at the palatial stone manor. But honestly, she could never say no to him.
He said birthdays came once a year and she deserved something special. He promised her an unforgettable day, and even skipped work to be with her. He stayed until Lorraine finally pushed him toward the study to take care of his work.
Once he was in the study, he gave Isaac a quick call, rattled off a few instructions, and then hung up and started answering emails.
Around noon, he insisted they go out. Lorraine wasn't really feeling it, but she gave in, threw on something decent, and followed him to the car.
They had barely pulled out of the driveway when Isaac showed up with a crew. Lorraine sat in the car, looking out the window as the scenery slid by. Everything just felt extra beautiful and full of life. It made her feel light and happy.
Maybe it was because it was her birthday. Or maybe it was because she was spending it with him. Either way, she was genuinely happy.
"If you keep staring out that window, I might end up pinning you to the seat." His voice was smooth and calm, kind of teasing, but with just a touch of jealousy.
She slowly turned and looked at him. He was focused on driving, but she couldn't help staring at his profile. 'What did that even mean? What have I done this time?' she thought.
She had no idea that the way she kept looking outside made Eugene feel like even a random tree was getting more attention than he was. Turns out, guys get jealous, too.
Lorraine had no clue where he was taking her. But when they pulled up, she realized it was the biggest jewelry store in the city.
In the VIP room, she blinked at all the sparkling jewelry in front of her. 'Wait. Is this the same move he pulled with Elsie?' It didn't make sense, but she couldn't help overthinking it.
"Take a look. Whichever one you like, we'll buy it." Eugene gestured toward the jewelry in front of them, letting Lorraine pick out whatever caught her eye.
The staff nearby quickly stepped up with eager smiles, flattering and attentive. They began describing each piece of jewelry in front of Lorraine in detail, doing their best to make every item sound special, hoping to win her favor.
There was everything from necklaces to bracelets to full luxury sets, each one carefully crafted and stunning. But as the staff finished their pitch, Eugene noticed not a single piece seemed to truly catch Lorraine's interest.
"You don't like any of these?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Lorraine quickly waved her hands. "No, they're all gorgeous. I just don't really need any of it. You can have them put away."
Eugene waved over the staff and told them to pack up the jewelry. Then he turned to her and asked softly, "You don't think any of these are good enough?"
Lorraine shook her head. "No, it's not that. I just kinda feel like we should head home." His eyes were so dark and intense, and they made her chest tighten and her heart race. She quickly turned her head to avoid looking at him.
Eugene raised a brow. She was usually easy to read. But this time, she was a complete mystery to him. "Alright," he said. "Let's go home and do something special there." He figured the palatial stone manor was probably all set up by now.
The moment they stepped into the palatial stone manor, the living room looked like something out of a fairytale. Everything was decorated in soft pink. Lilies filled the room with a sweet, gentle scent. Every detail had been planned to make it romantic.
Right there on the dining table sat a three-tier Barbie cake. The pink frosting formed a flowing princess gown, and the doll on top had these huge sparkly eyes that seemed to be looking straight at Lorraine.
Eugene held her hand and gently led her into the room. The second she saw the cake, her knees almost gave out. Birthdays like this had always been Elsie's thing, never hers. Even just imagining something like this used to feel out of reach.
By the time she sat down at the table, her eyes were already glossy with tears. Eugene leaned in and kissed her cheek. "That's all it takes to make you happy?" he teased. "If I cook you dinner, are you gonna cry for real?"
"Wait, are you serious?" she asked, tilting her head. Her lips brushed lightly against his. He used the moment to spin her around, scoop her up, and kiss her again while walking her toward the table.
Out of everything he gave her, she loved it most when he did something by hand, something just for her. It felt real. One couldn't put a price on that.
"I'm totally serious," he said, kissing her until she felt dizzy, and then carrying her toward the kitchen. They started cooking together. He chopped, and she rinsed. They moved around each other like they'd been doing this forever.
There was something incredibly sweet in how simple and natural it felt between them. Sure, most of the food turned out burned or barely edible, but somehow they still ended up with a table full of dishes.
When it came time to cut the cake, Eugene insisted she make a wish. Lorraine closed her eyes and made one silently, not even sure if it would come true.
When he asked her what she wished for, she said, "If I say it out loud, it won't work."
"Whatever you wish for," he said, "I'll make it happen, even if the universe doesn't."
But just as they finished cutting the cake, and before they even had a bite, he stood up, pushed her gently against the table, and reached for the frosting.
He scooped up a bit and smeared it slowly across her collarbone. Then, without rushing, he leaned in and licked it off with the tip of his tongue. He did it again and again. And he ate quite a bit.
Lorraine's body trembled slightly. She couldn't help wondering if he'd get tired of it. After all, she knew he wasn't big on sweets.
"You're sweeter than the cake," he murmured against her ear, holding her close. His voice was deep, low, and full of heat. "Once you're feeling better, let's have a baby, yeah?"

"Why not?" he asked, easily trapping her with his long arms and giving her butt a hard smack. "Go wash up. I'm taking you out for your birthday."
