Luke had always forbidden anyone from stepping foot on the second floor without permission. To ensure this, he'd installed hidden cameras in every room upstairs; silent watchers for when he was away. Not even Mandy, who'd worked there for years, knew they existed.
"Mr. Drake, please take a look." Luke frowned slightly as Hayden handed him the tablet. He took it calmly, and he tapped the play button without a word.
On the screen appeared Jane's figure. It was grainy night footage from the surveillance camera. Just as Luke had suspected, Jane had indeed entered the second floor without permission, sneaking in quietly while the household was asleep.
But Jane didn't sneak around or snoop. She went straight upstairs and pushed open his bedroom door. In the footage, Luke saw himself, face pale as a sheet, collapsed beside the bed.
He remembered now. His old stomach condition flared up that night. When Jane saw him, a flash of shock crossed her face, but without hesitation, she rushed forward to help him.
In the footage, Jane's slender figure appeared fragile and unsteady. She struggled to lift him and then rushed around non-stop—boiling water, buying medicine, and cleaning up the room.
Only after making sure he took the medicine and his face relaxed, did Jane quietly tiptoe out of the room. The whole time, not once did she try to take credit or show off.
She even cleaned the room carefully, leaving no trace behind. No one would know she stayed by his side all night until dawn.
After watching, Dylan raised an eyebrow and joked, "She's not only beautiful but also has a kind heart. Without those cameras, who knows if anyone would have known that she took care of you that night?"
Luke ignored Dylan's gloating, fixed silently on the screen. He recalled scolding Jane for being dishonest that night. Suddenly, her innocent, hurt gaze flashed sharply through his mind.
Luke's brow furrowed deeper. He tossed the tablet to Hayden, his voice cold and dark. "Take those outsiders down and hand them over to the police."
Hayden said, "Yes, Mr. Drake. About Mrs. Drake, shall I arrange for someone else to—"
Luke replied, "No. I'll take care of her personally."
Hayden looked up in fearful reverence. He thought, 'What does Mr. Drake mean?'
Dylan teased, "Don't look so scared. Hayden, can't you see Luke won't let his woman suffer and wants to care for her himself? What are you waiting for? Go and make the arrangements." Hayden snapped out of it instantly.
Not daring to delay, Hayden hurried off to handle Mandy's situation and attend to the company matters. Dylan chuckled and shook his head, only to meet Luke's cold, brooding gaze.
Dylan said, "Why the look? Did I say something wrong? Seeing that girl open her heart, are you holding on? Planning to divorce after a year?" Luke ignored Dylan completely.
Dylan shrugged and grinned. "Denying it won't help. With a face like that and her delicate and gentle ways, you can't bring yourself to let her go. Let's make a bet. A year from now, I bet you won't go through with the divorce."
Luke's expression flickered, his brows furrowing slightly as he lifted his gaze to Dylan. "Get out."
