"No. Who am I to be angry with you, Mr. Drake?" Jane replied, her voice trembling. She knew her words might sound sarcastic and provoke Luke, but she couldn't hide her frustration.
To her surprise, Luke just gave a small nod, as if accepting her answer.
He lowered his gaze to her lips, which were swollen and chapped from his bite the night before. Frowning, he gently tilted her chin up with his cold fingers, forcing her to face him. His rough thumb brushed against her lips.
"I've already got the test results," he murmured softly near her ear. "You're clean—no diseases." His intense stare met hers, burning with a fierce hunger that sent a shiver down her spine.
Jane's instincts screamed danger. Her sixth sense was on high alert. She didn't dare argue with Luke anymore. She forgot about debating whether the hospital visit had been disrespectful.
She just needed to get out of there. His wild stare made her feel like he might devour her. She couldn't stay another moment.
"Oh yeah? That's great then," she said, her voice strained. "I'm not healthy, so I won't infect you. Now that the results are in, I should leave. I don't want to bother you with work."
As she started to move, her hand resting on the armrest, Luke's large hand gripped her waist. He leaned in, his lips brushing her ear, his voice cold and tingling. "Jane, I didn't say you could leave."
Jane froze, stiff on his lap. Before she could react, Luke lifted her chin and kissed her hard.
The office was dimly lit, and Luke held Jane close, pressing her against the edge of his large desk as he kissed her fiercely. Her lips, still sensitive from the night before, were kissed with a roughness that made her heart race.
Suddenly, Jane heard the sound of a drawer opening. From her position, she couldn't see what was behind her, and she had no idea what Luke was taking out. She heard a faint rustling, like paper or foil.
Without warning, Luke lifted her up and placed her on the desk. He cupped her chin and kissed her deeply. It was then that she saw the condom in his hand.
Everything happened so quickly that Jane barely had time to register what was happening. She was caught off guard, unable to react or stop it.
Her eyes widened in shock as Luke's face came closer. His usually composed expression had shifted to one of intense focus. His eyes burned with a fierce intensity that left her speechless.
Jane's mind raced, but she couldn't think straight. She hadn't expected this—she hadn't expected Luke to bring her here for something like this.
She felt trapped, her fingers gripping the fabric of his suit as if for support. Finally, when she was a mess, just like his coat, it was over.
Luke slowly took out a handkerchief, wiped his fingers, and pressed the intercom. "Hayden, show Ms. Ritter out," he said.
He looked down at Jane, who was still leaning against him, her face flushed and her breathing shallow. Gently, he lifted her chin and studied her face.
For a moment, his usually cold eyes softened, showing a rare tenderness. "Go back for now. Be good," he murmured. "I'll take care of you."
