Luke's request was a little strange, but thankfully, Jane's favorite color had always been purple.
Back when she was still with the Ritter family, purple was the color she wore most often. So she didn't mind his odd request.
But the light pink lipstick made her feel a bit uneasy. She picked the safest shade she could find.
Not long after, Hayden was downstairs, waiting for Jane to come down.
Jane appeared in a soft purple cashmere dress that hugged her figure, her long, brown hair flowing freely over her shoulders. She wore no makeup except for a touch of soft pink lipstick.
Yet, she still looked like an elegant angel who'd fallen from the sky, graceful with a playful charm.
Jane had a white wool coat draped over her arm and walked slowly toward Hayden.
"Hayden, I'm ready. Hayden?" Jane called his name twice before he snapped out of his daze.
"Oh, okay, Ms. Ritter," Hayden said, realizing he had been staring at Jane.
Now, he understood why Luke had initially been against Dwight's suggestion for him to marry Jane, only to change his mind after seeing her photo.
Dressed like this, Jane no longer looked disheveled like when they first met. She really was a rare beauty.
Hayden added, "Mr. Drake will meet you directly at the hospital. And again, Ms. Ritter, when you see Dwight, be careful with what you say."
Hayden soon dropped Jane off at the hospital.
After being rushed to the ICU that night, Dwight had moved out of the nursing home and was now staying in the best private hospital in Jovinia, on the VIP floor.
As soon as Jane stepped out of the elevator, she saw Luke waiting for her in the hallway.
Although she feared and respected Luke, she couldn't deny how good-looking he was.
Just seeing his tall frame in a black, tailored suit standing in the hallway made her want to take in the sight a little longer.
"Mr. Drake," she called out softly as she walked over.
Hearing her familiar, gentle voice, Luke turned and looked down at her.
His deep, unreadable eyes narrowed slightly when they landed on her in the purple dress.
It seemed like seeing her stirred something in him, and for a brief moment, there was a flicker of emotion in his eyes.
"Dwight's been waiting inside for a while. You're late, Jane," Luke said. His large hand rested on her soft waist with force, pulling her into his embrace.
Jane stumbled a bit. She hadn't expected him to be so affectionate in public.
Her mind involuntarily flashed back to the previous night, when he had cupped her chin and kissed her so intensely.
Jane nervously licked her lips. "Sorry, I... overslept a bit."
She really had, and the culprit was undoubtedly Luke, the man standing in front of her.
"Okay." Luke nodded, his eyes cool as he looked down at her. "That's why you shouldn't have eaten such a light meal like you did yesterday. Jane, your health is awful."
His words sounded like concern, but it made Jane almost want to stop talking altogether. She instinctively lowered her head, trying to avoid his increasingly intense gaze.
But his gloved finger gently lifted her chin, the leather brushing against her soft skin.
He looked down at her, his expression cold and stern, but his gaze burned with unmistakable intensity. "Jane, you look beautiful today."
Jane froze, surprised. She hadn't expected him to say something like that.
"The lipstick color looks good too," Luke added, his voice low and husky. "Honestly, you're irresistible."
