Jane could feel her lipstick fading as Luke kissed her deeply.
Right outside the hospital room, he had her pinned against the wall, kissing her fiercely and with undeniable intensity.
For a moment, Jane froze. Her instincts kicked in, and she quickly looked around.
She hadn't expected him to kiss her in such a public place. And she definitely didn't expect the usually distant and cold Luke to act like this.
Luckily, Hayden had already positioned people to seal off the area.
The Drake family's bodyguards, tall and dressed in black, lined both sides of the hallway, blocking anyone from seeing or interrupting them.
Jane found herself trapped in his embrace, her back against the wall and her senses overwhelmed by his cool, masculine scent.
He kissed her relentlessly, sucking her soft lips and making her tremble.
"L-Luke..." Jane stammered, her heart racing and her breath mingling with his. She could barely say anything.
'Not here. Not in the hospital hallway,' she thought.
But instead of pulling away, he only deepened the kiss, his actions growing more intense.
At that moment, Jane thought his gaze held more than just desire. It was as if he wanted to break her down.
Just then, a cough broke the tension from behind them. The door to the hospital room had quietly opened.
"Oh, Mr. Drake." Daniel, who was wearing gold-rimmed glasses, stood in the doorway, watching them with a cool gaze and an expressionless face.
Jane jumped at the sight of him and quickly tried to pull away from Luke's grip. But he pulled her back into his arms.
"Dwight has been waiting for a while," Daniel reminded them.
Luke didn't flinch at being caught in the act. His face remained as sharp and unreadable as ever.
He didn't even glance at Daniel at first. Instead, he looked down at Jane, noticing her clothes were a bit disheveled.
Luke's brows furrowed a bit, and with a serious expression, he straightened her dress and buttoned up her coat.
Only then did he take her hand and walk her confidently into the room.
Inside, Dwight was sitting up in bed, already smiling at them.
When he saw Jane flushing and holding hands with his grandson, he laughed heartily.
"Well, I told Daniel it was fine. I could wait for you two to chat outside for a bit longer. I was not in any rush, but no, he called you both in! He just didn't know the right thing to do, " Dwight said.
Jane's face turned even redder at Dwight's teasing, and she lowered her head, too embarrassed to meet his gaze.
She had no idea how to face Dwight after what had just happened.
'Even though Luke wanted to put on a show in front of Dwight, he didn't need to go that far, right outside the hospital room like this. How am I ever going to face Dwight again after this?' she thought.
"Jane, don't be shy. I get you young folks. I'm not some old stick-in-the-mud who can't stand seeing people intimate. Seeing you two getting along, I feel at ease. By the way, last time you nearly got into trouble. Are you alright now?" Dwight asked.
"Dwight, I'm doing much better now," Jane said, her cheeks flushed, but she answered with consideration. She didn't want to worry Dwight.
She added, "Take care of yourself, too. When you were in the nursing home, you used to hide bottles of wine under your bed and sneak drinks. Now that you're here, you really need to quit that. No more drinking sneakily."
"Huh? When did I ever do that? I haven't touched alcohol in years," Dwight said. His face flushed with guilt, and he instinctively glanced over at Luke.
Luke, who had been silent up until now, raised an eyebrow when he heard Jane's words, his expression darkening.
